the reason i use cake mix is its cheaper than getting all the ingredients in as there is only two of us most of the time and its often cheaper to buy a cake .

3 of you use packet cake mix? Good grief! :-( Mind you, I only bake little cakes in December, and a big one for Birthdays........empty calories and all that. Fairy Cakes seem to have been supplanted by Cup Cakes which use the same size cases as Muffins, which is probably why they are put into the packets - cheaper for the manufacturer as well as making you buy more mixes to feed the family.

Did you ask neighbours if they were having trouble with their land line or internet? Could it be all the expansion of metal in the heat having something to do with the disconnectivity?

Afternoon everyone.

Aunty, I used a packet cup cake mix recently and it only makes six!! I shall have to revert back to mxing bowl, flour, eggs, sugar & fat!! :-D :-D :-D :-D

I think there will be more than stink bombs flying round later!! Her Maj's team are playing my son's favourite team!! Let's see who has to go into hiding!! :-D :-P

Your elastic wasn't tight enough on the catapult, LG!! The consignment missed by a couple of hundred yards!! :-P

And where might I ask is Sweetpea!!! Come on fair's fair. let me know when you are sending him overseas so I can hide all the gadgetry and electronicisms. Actually I think my internet is affected by the heat and I have been without it all afternoon. (Internet that is not heat). Very frustrating as I had a bit of spare time in between having a tidy kitchen, cooking little cakes and trashing my kitchen big time, and tidying up my kitchen. I will never understand why I can not bake cakes without the associated mess. Anyway all is tidy, the internet has returned, and I am resting.

By the way regarding little cakes. I usually make mine from scratch but decided to try a packet mix. Actually I did both. Question, have you noticed how large the patty pans you put the mixture in now are. I have a theory. Back in the olden days one packet of cake mix would make between 18 and 24 little cakes. Now it only makes 12. Clever devious marketing is what it is. If you need 24 cakes, you have to buy two packets of cake mix. The patty pans come in the box now. Of course you can go buy your own paper cases. Surprise, surprise, they are also twice the size. So stingy people like me have old patty pans left from the olden days; or you use the metal trays which, another surprise, are still the same size they used to be..... Unless of course you go buy new ones.

Morning all - what *is* that smell? Has some one been eating a food which has unfortunate side effects?

Strange going ons in the sky above us yesterday evening; for about 30 minutes we had military jets zooming back and forth, and we are no where near an airfield. The only time we usually see/hear them is in the summer when they are going to air shows. Most odd, and something we may never know the reason for.

And something is happening next door as well - loads of cars yesterday, and still a larger number than usual today + a man with a tripod and camera got out of a van marked 'Dance Aid'. I think they said that one of the daughters was getting married early this year, so it may be part of the 3 day bridal celebrations as per Asian tradition even though it will be a 'mixed marriage'. A blending of cultures - lol.

Glad to hear you had a good time at the Girls night out Aunty. 50's/60's music? Would that be The Rolling Stones and the Beatles era? OH would know - I was more into Cliff Richard.

You are right about OH - he 'is' bored but isn't interested in anything I suggest doing. Mind you, he has sometimes said that he is cross with himself for staying in bed for so long. As he occassionally goes to bed after me, I don't like waking him too soon in case he hasn't had his 8 hours. I have a susipicion he went up about 2 last night....his body clock slips which is another problem.

0030-0800 is OK in my books Barbra - 7 1/2 hours is about right and nothing to be concerned about. And Aunty's OH is a Senior Citizen and entitled to an afternoon snooze. No doubt Spot is his alarm clock!

We up dated our browser yesterday to Firefox 9....and I've lost the spell checker :-(

Morning all. Aunty is slightly tired this morning. I went to one of my girlfriends 50th birthday party last night. The theme was 1950s so I dressed appropriately, as did most other attendees I make a good little rock and roller. The evening was fairly entertaining, food good, company friendly, however the juke box they were using had one major failing. No rock and roll 1950s/60s music. We made do but it was commented on that some good old jive music would have improved proceedings considerably.

Sending some more sunshine to you all. Sorry the citrus was not remedial LG and yes it does sound like you need another check up or a second opinion of your current treatment.

Comparing your OHs sleeping preferences with mine DET. Twelve hours does sound a mite extreme, but, mine goes to bed at 8.00pm and is out of bed around 6.00 am. So that is ten hours. He also has an afternoon nap almost every day. Does he have sufficient to occupy his time during the day, or alternatively is he doing too much and tiring himself. Sometimes bed and sleep is a way of escaping boredom.

Which site Maz? GR is messed up at the moment due to the rollout of the new version. Even though they have re-instated the old one for the weekend, it seems some people are having problems.

If it's the other site, can I help?

I have a friend who insists on staying in bed for 12 hours but most of the time she's just watching the telly.

I would have a bad back if I was in bed that long.
