Anybody have Christmas Day Marriages

It would have been a good get together, seeing most of the relatives would have had the day off too. A nice thing to remember.
I wonder about the Christmas Day births, maybe that was the topic of conversation when they first met.

My grandparents were married on Boxing day 1923 in St John Church Ealing. followed by my dad 10 months later.

My g g grandparents married Christmas Day. He was an Ag' lab' so again day off. and food to go round!

My parents were also married on Christmas Day in 1920 at St Thomas Parish Church, West Ham.

My grandparents weren't married on Christmas Day, but on Valentines Day 1900, Feb 14th,1900 Alithea Maria Ogilvie married Walter Bowden, St.Mary's Church,Crumlin, County Dublin.

My brother and his wife share Christmas Eve birthdays.

i only had premuture labour panic xmas day waited till boxing day to go to hospital,
they made me hold out till begining of january,
well son actually changed his mind
decided he would wait
as west ham werent playing till 5th of jan

Yes my parents married Christmas day 1929 again it was the only day all the family had off from work so a good wedding and party afterwards with lots of singing to the piano was had.

It was actually rather common, nothing romantic about it at all. Holidays and having days off work are a fairly recent phenomena, and for many, Christmas Day was the only day they had off work in the entire year.....!

When I found out my great grandparents were married Christmas Day in 1908, I thought it was extremely romantic. Afterwards I discovered the reason being was it was usually their only real day off.
The marriage of Lucy Ball and James Gadd was solemnised at St Barnabas, Sutton after banns. Witnesses Thomas Fraser and Nellie Healy.
