My memories of my nan was she looked like a nan from the first memories i have of her, but when i uploaded some pictures for my step dad off him i was really shocked at how he is ageing, and is becoming his late father, it has upset me quite a bit , i remember him as a big fellow working on a building site, was wondering if anyone else had noticed this in there own family xx

Not just ageing in photographs!!
I hadn't seen my mum for a few years - she lives in Portugal. She came over and commented on my 'crows feet' - I had to point out I had always had them - when I was younger they were known as 'laughter lines'! - now over 50 they're slightly deeper because I had laughed so much!!

I have a photo of my gran, who had always been, to me, a 'comfy' sized lady aged 21 - she's as thin as a rake!!

I think it is rita i can look at a photo of a gg grandmother and i look like her and what i have read about her we could have been twins,
my daughter has inherited mannerisms of her father she rarely saw him to have learnt these, my younger siblings say im looking more like my mother everytime we meet.

Last year, I was given the loan of a few very old family photos. I took copies, and one I had professionally blown up and expensively framed. It was of my gran and her sisters, and a brother. The resemblence between my youngest daughter and my gran was remarkable.
But, then I was loaned some more, and one, which was sent to my gran, and unidentyfied and undated, was an even more uncanny resemblence to the same daughter. I beleived the unidentyfied lady is my gran's aunt, her father's sister.
I sent a copy of the photos to a relation, also 'doing' the family. His gran, was also another sister on my gran's father. He could not believe the resemblence either, as he has been to the other side of the world, looking for any information he can find on her. His nephew is out there now looking for information.

Hello. My mother had a picture taken by a professional photographer
for her 18th birthdayOne day I was sorting out the bedroom when I came across this picture in a lovely frame and I said Mam I don`t remember having this taken She laughed and said no wonder it`s me!!!
The amazing thing was she was wearing a high necked frilled blouse with
a Cameo and a flouncy skirt all in fashion in the fifties, She died aged 91years 8 years ago and I sent a copy of this photo to my sister and she was convinced it was me until my Cousin said thats your MAM must be something in the Genes !!!!

hi rita i only live 7 miles from church stretton, your story is so good, i was only 11 when we moved to shrewsbury sadley we had left my dads family and moved from sunderland, my 3 cousins and nan came to viist me and my elder cousins went into the town centre and went in the cafe upstairs in the market, dont know if it is still there ? anyway we were sat chatting away, when we looked on the next table there was our nan, we wispered why had she come to town to a strange town and why on her own, we smiled thinking she is checking up on us but nothing back, we left got back to my home and nan was there , this lady in the market baffled me for years she looked the spit of her dressed the same same glasses hair style , i asked my mum if nan had ever been to shrewsbury, she said yes but she didnt want to say much more, still spooks me now.
Family wise i have taken the big boned dad side of the family and standard height, my next younger sister is thin framed and small like my nans sister likewise my younger sister they are short too, even my brother.

I was given a print out of about 7 children one being my great nan, everyone in that picture resembled one of us and cousins, so that was the most weird it was like looking at your siblings and cousins but in the 1800s.

Sssssssssssshhhhhhhhhhhhhhh, don't tell my mum but I have a photo of my great grandparents sat in my aunt's garden. Everytime I look at the picture it's just like seeing my mum and uncle sat there.

Problem is, I daren't say anything 'cos mum hated her granny.
