It must be the law, Crunchy. I have a gift voucher for a book store and I haven't spent it yet because I have a pile of books given to me for Christmas that I'm still wading through.

i spent all day yesterday trying to find something new to wear for my birthday and going for a meal. I went everywhere looking for something, (mostly a pencil skirt and a nice blouse to go with) I had vouchers left from xmas and B/day to usein a shop (N/L) but they had nothing in my size! 12 is i think a popular size? i may be mistaken but size 8 was the most they had! I hate clothes shopping at the best of times but i was thoroughly p***sed off!

(i like 60's stuff, but mixed with 80's? not good!)

I don't even need vouchers!!
If I'm going to find anything, it'll be a week or so (I get paid monthly) before I get paid - when I'm skint!
I saw something last Wednesday - pay day was Friday. They only had one that was possibly in my size - I didn't try it on in case it fitted, but was gone by Friday (then I could convince mysel it would have been too small!!)
Friday lunchtime I shot down to that shop - it was still there - tried it on - it fitted perfectly!
One lovely frock (I don't ususally wear frocks LOL) reduced from £75 to £30 in my posession!!!!!

................now to find somewere to wear it................

I think the worst time to look for something to wear is for your children's weddings!

I bought a horrendous outfit for my son's wedding. I thought it was OK until I saw the photos!

For my daughter's wedding last year I wore a white M&S trouser suit and felt much better. I discarded the hat (much to my sister in law's amusement) immediately after the photos were taken.

I have 1 hat that will probably be on Freecycle this spring!

Dear CrunchyNutter and all

Hello

I've noticed when you are not in urgent need of something, good bargains just seem to appear.

Its when you are under pressure to get a special oufit, that's when nothing fits, wrong colour, too expensive, etc.

And what is all this with womens clothes sizes?
Anyone above size 12 is not considered!!

Take care all
Best wishes
xx

LOL Birdi - faux pas at children's weddings - snap!!
Didn't help that my daughter was encouraging me to look in February for an outfit when the wedding was in August! She then changed her mind about the colour she wanted me to wear.
Eventually I found a dress in Phase Eight, about a month before the wedding.
It was only when I tried it on in an attempt to 'suss out' what colour shoes etc i wanted, that I realised I'd tried it on back to front in the shop - and didn't like it the 'right' way around!!
I then dredged my ancient sewing machine out from it's hicey-hole, and undid the bust seams at the (to me) back, and put them in (as much as possible) at the 'front'!
I'm sooo glad I haven't got much of a bust (hence I could put it on back to front without realising it! LOL)

Crunchy, you must know about that Boots gift card I got for Christmas. It's been on my bookshelf for two months now . . . not because I don't shop in Boots, but because I want to get something I really want with the money on it and I just can't decide!

Maggie - I don't know why it is that your perfectly sane daughters seem to go a bit doo lally when their weddings are approaching.

My level headed younger daughter promised she wouldn't make a fuss - she was on the phone every blinking night getting more agitated as time went on.

Now she's pregnant and moaning that she looks FAT!!! LOL
