Hello everyone
well I guess it doesnt get more general than this
and it's you irish based people i want help from please
I have decided that I really am not going to get what I want from web sites to find my family, so have decided to spend a week in October in Ireland looking around the areas that I am researching.
West Limerick and Emly in Tipperary (although I might have more areas by the time October comes)
I really want to stay in B&B's rather than big hotels etc. Especially if I can find local peope who love to talk history.
At the moment I am looking for the area Emly Tipperary, Knocklong, Killmalock,Glenbrohane,Kilfinanne in Limerick. Does anyone know of any B&B's or pubs in these areas that you can stay in ??
Thank you for any help that can be offered
Regards Lesley

If you go to Tipperary,go to the Heritage Centre in the middle of town and you will find the staff very helpful especially if you have as many details as you can.
We went a few years ago and stayed bed and breakfast in Cashel. There are loads of nice B&B's.I think we booked it on line.It was only a short drive into town.
I'd love to go now,but with OH housebound it's impossible.
There are these centres in most counties I think.

thank you for your help

I am going with a friend from work and she thinks it will be fun to travel around on buses and trains. I agree. It has nothing to do with us both being too scared to drive on the wrong side of the road.
We would need to stay in towns and villages. I really fancy some where really small either B&B's or Pubs.
I will certainly go to the heritage centre.
Very excited about all this !!!!

I haven't been to Ireland for a few years. Last time I went, we flew to Cork airport, which is close to Limerick and Tipperary.

At that time I was able to get a book listing B&B's which came in really useful.

Will see if I can find where to get one from now and let you know.

Will PM you.

Oh I didnt realise that they drove on the left.
Well we will have to see. My friend really wants us to be middle aged women back packing.
Yes a book of small B&B's would be great. I want our visit to be about being with real people spending our money in the communities we have come to see.
I am so excited about this.

Much easier in Ireland if you have a car!

You may get a shock at the prices for train tickets and bus fares.

Really expenssive to got from Dublin to Cork.Cheaper by plane.

Who found it cheaper to fly.

Yes it looks like we will either take a car or hire one.
still trying to find a pub to stop in in Emly we cant seem to find anything near there. looks like we might have to do Cashel. I gues with a car it will be easier.
