Morning all

It's lovely weather here today, so I've decided to wash the back room carpet, the cleaner is all set up, so once I've finished my drink I'll make a start.

You could do with Thomas off Jane to get rid of all your rabbits Mel. I know I shouldn't, but I did have a bit of a giggle when you said you walked away in disgust after spotting the second lot of rabbits. It was just the way you said it.

Corner cupboard aren't easy to clean are they Mel. The new one's look good as they have a metal shelving that can be pulled around and out so you can get to what you need and clean it a lot easier. Maybe you could invest in one of those to make life easier for yourself then you won't get hurt. You might be able to just buy the shelving and have someone put it into the cupboard you already have, which would save a lot of messing around and might even be a lot cheaper too.

How frightening it must of been for you Mandy, I hate bad storms and can't sleep through them either. You'll be needing a little sleep this afternoon with not having much sleep last night, or an early night to catch up on the sleep you lost.

Off to clean the carpet now before the water goes cold

Morning my Lovelies, Evening Kim.

House "HUSBAND" for hire !!! Ros changed the bed this morning and did a whites wash. She had to go to Carols for a meeting at 10.30 so the washing wasn't finished. She said leave it, I will put it out when I come home. TO LATE. It's all pegged out CORRECTLY and blowing in the breeze. I will have to keep my eye on the weather as it's looking iffy. :-| :-|

Mandy, where did you think the rain would fall from??? :-D :-D :-D I've never seen it come from anywhere else lol

I feel absolute Cra# this morning. Awake FOUR times in the night with Cramp in my left leg, The begger wouldn't go away. I feel like I've been trampled by an Elephant.

Sorry to hear FIL is getting more forgetful, but in his own way he must be very happy (if that's the right words) I see MIL is still playing up !!!

We have been lucky with no Thunder and lightning. On local radio last night people were ringing in from all over the place saying how bad the storms were. WE never had a spot of rain.

You can stop grovelling on your hands and knees now MEL :-D :-D Just take it easy today and give yourself a rest.

By the sound of things Gill's house will be like a hospital operating theatre. NOT A SPOT OF DIRT ANYWHERE !!!

Trust me to get things wrong. LEWIS doesn't go to France till next Wednesday. and by the way HAPPY BIRTHDAY to your OH Gill. I think I have it right now. :-D :-D :-D

We asked Lewis if he had enough money for his hols. He said don't worry I can always go busking I have my violin with me !!! (LITTLE BUGGER) He had Ros in stitches last night, with all he was coming out with. It made her miss Corrie LOL

Lazy old me. After I showered yesterday I had a sit down, and forgot to go back in the bathroom to shave. So I must not forget today, or I will look like an old TRAMP !!!

I see William is a richer man now's he's EIGHTY. He gets an extra TWENTY FIVE PENCE ON HIS PENSION. Don't spent it all at once mate :-D :-D :-D

See you all later. I'm still smiling about the KIWI shoes lol lol

Thanks for the birthday wishes for my OH and yes Frank you do have it right..... 3rd time lucky LOL :-D :-D.

Can I hire you Frank I still have a few more cupboards to go through and the garage which is another big job......Not looking forward to that if it's a big as the loft was, so I could do with a bit of help...How much do you charge an hour LOL.

To be honest I'm getting fed up of it all now after 2 months but I always see things through to the end so will keep going until it's all finished. I've never done a whole place so thoroughly before and doubt I'll ever do it again. The only reason I had to clean the back room carpet was because that is where the loft opening is and the dust from the loft onto a light coloured carpet couldn't be ignored. I've just finished it, so I'm going to have a drink before I put the carpet cleaner away.

Off to make the cuppa now

I've just thought Frank, the way you are always having accidents is it safe to hire you? LOL........At least I've got the operating theatre ready and Jane can be the theatre Nurse......Failing that we can always strap crash mats onto you, then you'll be safe LOL. :-D :-D

O I forgot to say HAPPY BIRTHDAY GILL'S OH..............sorry we all got it wrong yesterday.

25p won't even buy you a bar of chocolate now but does he get a free TV licience now or has he one already?

Suns in and out here today and its quite warm now. I have picked my second bunch of sweet peas and they are smelling the kitchen out as I sit here at my desk. Wonderfull as it is one smell I can stand.

Off to collect up the hog bowls now for a good wash ready for tonight.

Free TV licence is given when you're 75 Mel! OH qualifies on Monday!! William will have had his now for five years!!
Have just got back from Cirencester, as we wanted to get a couple of dummies for Cassie from the Field Sports shop. There had been a bad accident along the main road outside the Agricultural College, so we were diverted round the' mulberry bush', and the same coming home! Just hope there weren't any fatalities.
We're being taken out by son and his 'partner' on Monday to a new restaurant that has just opened locally. We're really looking forward to it, so today I've bought two very pretty china egg cups from the same shop as a thank you pressy for them, so I feel quite chuffed!!
Not sure what the weather is doing, windy but dry, so far!!

Frank Report 17 Jul 2015 14:39

Well all my good work nearly didn't pay off. About an hour after I put the washing out, Tony next door rang to say my line had broke. The washing was all over the lawn. When I went out to it. The Spool that the line goes into, has a knob where you wined the line around. THAT HAD BROKE so I had to drag the line tight, and wind in round the line container. What a Blood# Job. Fortunately the washing was dry enough to come in. So no harm done. I have a new one to put up to replace it, so will do that tomorrow.

Accident prone today, I went to put a large pack of Lurpa'# into the fridge and dropped it, it split open and butter went everywhere, up the cupboard fronts, on the carpet and up the fridge plus my legs.

I've chopped all the chicken off the carcase ready for the curry tonight Made the base of the curry, and added some sultana's. Ros will finish off later, adding curry powder to her taste. She can't eat it too hot.

Gill you could NEVER AFFORD ME. I am worth my weight in gold. Ask my previous Wife and girlfriends. lol lol You would be surprised what I can do :-D :-D :-D

Yes I got my free T.V. licence 2 years ago. It saved a few quid, but it still gets spent. ;-) ;-) ;-)

Funny old day here, we haven't seen any storms, but it's very breezy with a lot of cloud.

I saw on the lunchtime news that an OAP was in a light car accident last night. The man he hit got out of his car and stabbed him to death. He was 79, and it happened in West Sussex.

Did anyone see the floods at St Andrews Golf club this morning ?? How they got it cleared was fantastic.

I remembered my shave this morning. I now have a face as smooth as a babies BUM. :-D :-D :-D :-D

See you later,

Gillx

Gillx Report 17 Jul 2015 16:06

More accidents Frank?.......I've changed my mind I don't want to hire you now, I'd end up with more work to do than when I started LOL :-D :-D :-D.
Should I send you the crash mats now? ;-) ;-) ;-).
Hope you didn't get any grass stains on Ros's white washing, you'll be in so much trouble if you did LOL.

I haven't seen the news today, that poor man being stabbed to death, I hope they catch the person who did it.

How was St. Andrews Golf Club cleared of water, you only said it was fantastic?

I've finished all my cleaning for today so I'm going to make OH's birthday cake now, he won't be in from work until about 9pm so I've got time to make him one and it be ready to eat by 9.

Afternoon All,

I went to Grantham to take a top back this morning and to look at their plant trays to see if there was something suitable for near the back door for the shoes. I found something just the right size for the space so that was good! :-D OH was at a meeting at Hinckley so called to see his mum after. He said she wasn't a bit interested in his visit to FIL yesterday as she was too busy complaining about the carer who came this morning, calling her useless and all because she had put things in different places to where MIL likes them. I ask you, does it matter and is it really important when it will be the carers using them?? I'd just be grateful someone was helping me, but not her. Apparently the nurse who called to give her the injection yesterday couldn't do it as the paperwork authority wasn't there?? When OH rang the surgery they were surprised and very apologetic, so OH said to bear in mind he was relying on what MIL told him. The doc thought she would be best to spend the weekend in a community hospital to reassess and see just what her difficulties are. (probably to make sure she takes all her tablets too. ;-)) but when she rang MIL to suggest it, MIL said 'no'. So OH rang her then and she changed her mind, so he then had to ring the doctor back. Now he's gone back to Hinckley again to pack her some things and wait for the ambulance so goodness knows when he will be back. While we tried to go for lunch, he had to stop for 3 phone calls on the way and than had 2 more calls while we were having lunch, all to do with MIL. I'm beginning to think it isn't worth trying to go out together! Now he needs to make more calls to cancel the carers over the weekend and I know someone should be calling to see her Monday about a different bed. It's hard to keep up with events.

Gill, FIL does like his chocolate.........but he keeps asking OH to bring him a pen knife to cut it........I don't think so!! lol.

Mandy I hate thunderstorms at the best of times, but when they are right overhead like that they are awful. Sometimes when there's been a storm while OH is out I've gone and sat in the hall in the middle of the bungalow. lol I actually prefer to be in the car with it's nice insulating rubber tyres.

The over 80 age addition was 25p in 1974 when I worked on retirement pensions. I remember people complaining it was a pittance and not worth having then but none of them would sign it over to me. :-D :-D lol. With inflation it ought to be £2.70 now. :-S

Well, a nice cuppa next and some more cupboard sorting for me. I might get to chuck more out without OH being here He looks at what I've thrown out and pulls things out to keep himself. lol.

William Report 17 Jul 2015 16:58

Afternoon all,
Not read the threads yet, just finished unpacking after our break with Mel in Cambridge. Thank you all so much for your cards and greetings, I was thrilled to bits and our front room looks like a card factory at the moment.
I've had a lovely time (we both have) and it couldn't have been better. Mel lives in a retirement complex, I suppose you'd call it and we stayed in the guest room there. It couldn't have been better if it had been a five star hotel and the gardens were lovely and everyone was so very friendly. The fact that Mel isn't retired and starts a new job in August is by the by, as long as you are over 55 you can have an apartment there. Our room cost us £15 per night for the both of us, we had a twin bedded room with a huge bathroom next door.
It is next door to the flat green bowls club and a few minutes walk from the river Cam. On Wednesday the three of us went into Cambridge itself and had a meal in a posh restaurant (waitresses in the black and white uniforms as days gone by with the little frilly caps on) and afterwards we did the sights and the colleges. Actually, we could have been in Beijing, I've never seen so many Chinese in one place - or come to that, so many bicycles!
A bonus that night was that Mel's daughter, Jennifer, who we hadn't seen for years, called in and made such a fuss of us. She hadn't changed a bit and we would have known her anywhere. Apart from the fact that I did get a birthday cake, Jennifer was the icing on it :-)
On Thursday Carmel and I went to St Ives on the buses that run on the path of the old railways track (can't think what they are called now! - get back to you on that). They have tiny wheels sideways to the front wheels and these run between concrete 'tracks' for most of the way, they zip along, the driver doesn't have to touch the steering wheel, and they stop at what are like tiny stations. Brilliant concept, no bumpy roads or traffic. Back on the main roads, they are just like any other bus. St Ives is a nice old market town and sits on the River Ouse. A great day out and something very different. I'll email out some photos when I get my main PC back in action and the photos from my camera uploaded.
Carmel, is having a well earned afternoon nap, Catthorpe Interchange was horrendous today, but otherwise we made good time on the A14 and M6. Just stopped off when we got to our shops to get a few essentials.

Check back in a while, hope you have all been OK.

The name for the bus system is 'guided busway' and this is the wiki lnk.

We think it's brilliant and I guess the locals just take it for granted!

I hope you enjoy checking it out.

Afternoon Everyone.
Well I think the cleaning bug reached here this morning.Chris decided that the lounge needed a good cleaning and SORTING OUT.My goodness between the 2 of us it looks great once again.Half of the mess was mine ,well all of the mess really.Boxes of old photos ,old magazines, old leads to cameras etc that we no longer have and a lot more tat just hanging around.Drawers cleared out including the telephone directories that no-one has had to use for years because we look everything up on the computer.
I found a metal filing box of Hannahs and she had statements, and loads of paper work to do with her old house in Market Harborough. That has now all gone on the bonfire.

Mandy what weather you had !!!!!!.I was up at 3 (again) as I let Thomas stay in last night, and as I was coming down the stairs in the dark I could see lots of lightening way in the distance.I( I think probably Cambridge way)But like Frank we had nothing here at all.Not even a drop of rain.

Frank that was lucky the washing was dry when the line broke.Your name could have been MUD :-D

Mel i think those Rabbits are taking the p*** now.I would have loved to see the walk off in disgust LOL

Frank I keep having a giggle too about the Kiwi shoes :-D :-D.How daft was I :-S

Ann I think that it might be good for FIL to have a new 'friend' to chat to .He does seem to have settled now ,especially with no tears for OH and no rages.

I hope MIL has had her injection today and that she is in less pain and discomfort and has maybe managed to have something to eat.

oops, nearly forgot......Happy Birthday again to your OH Gill :-D :-D

Mel I need to get down on the floor in the kitchen to get to a couple of cupboards that really need to be cleared and cleaned.Just the thought of it makes my knees hurt :-|
I will wait until the weather cools down ...maybe in december :-D

Ann you were nearly right on what we had to drink yesterday. It was a small glass of wine each and 2 bottles of Apple Juice :-D(not Perry)..I actually hate apple juice (Chris bought it),so I brought mine home and it is in the fridge.Someone will have it.
So I had a bottle of water to go with the wine :-D :-D

Must get some washing in now.It will be bone dry and need damping down before I can iron I think.

Glad you had a nice break Will. Hope you didn't go over the top with that extra 25 P.
Cambridge is such a nice City. I have been there quite a few times, it's about an hour from here. Not been since I couldn't drive anymore after my stroke. I have seen that bus on the local About Anglia News, from what they say, it's well used and goes from town to town at a reasonable cost.

Gill the men had squeegee's and were pushing the water off the greens and fairways. Try to catch the news this evening, it's bound to be on there again. They seemed to do it so quickly and the game resumed without to much delay.

Thanks a bunch for your kind words. !!! Now you will never know what I could have done for you LOL LOL

I knew it wouldn't be long before MIL played up again Ann. As you say, she won't be using the things anymore so does it really matter where they are put. I agree that has to be a BIG NO NO for FIL to have a penknife. Who knows what he might get up to :-D :-D :-D Carving his name in the tables lol lol

Looks like a nice evening out there now. Not many clouds and the breeze seems to have warmed up a bit. But they do day it will be cooler tonight.

I am definitely going for a pint tonight. I haven't been out all week. I will walk down to get some exercise and get a lift back with Tony, or Ring Ros for a lift home.

Have a nice evening all, I might pop in before bed.

Jane Report 17 Jul 2015 18:00

Nice here too now Frank.Bit on the windy side though.I have just watered the plants out the front and Chris is hoseing all the back garden .

I see Ann and William sneaked in without me seeing .

William am am glad you had a great time in Cambridge. What restaurant did you go to?
When we were there on Monday we too noticed lots of Chinese. That Cattethorp interchange is always the same.Hopefully once all the work is complete it will make a journey through that bit much easier. You would have gone passed junction 10 on the A 14 which is just a couple of minutes from me.You could have popped in for a cuppa :-D

Ann I think it is an excellent idea for MIL to go in for a while to be reassessed .At least while she is in,OH won't need to worry, and can have a bit of a breather ,well both of you. There will be no need for her to be calling him so many times, and she may not have easy access to a phone.I would make the most of this time if I were you.

I made something today.Maple and Pecan Butter :-D.It sounds grand doesn't it.
Well what a mess i got into .I whipped up the butter ,toasted and chopped the Pecans ,added a bit of Ground Cinnamon and had a taste. It is really nice. But then I had to spread it on some Baking Parchment and roll it into a log shape.WELL what a performance that was. :-S :-S.The butter was so soft by that time it was almost liquid .I couldn't roll it to save my life so stuck it in fridge to harden up a bit and just ended up rolling it into little balls lol They look absolutely hideous .
It is to go with something called Raspberry and Ricotta Hot Cakes(bit like pancakes I think).I am planning on doing them tomorrow......But we will see.Even if I don't do the hotcakes I think the butter thing would be very nice on hot toast.(must get some bread :-D ) Chris said why did I bother !!!!!! (cheek)He always brings me back recipes from Waitro** ,so it was one of them.I said I thought I would just try,and he says well I didn't ask you to :-| :-|......I don't think I should bother in future LOL

O I forgot William was going away for a few days!!!!!! I sent him a parcel and I bet they took it back to the sorting office.........blast..............blast..............blast. I wonder if a neighbour took it in? It was only small and would probably gone through the letter box.

Frank fancy you not seeing the line had broken. Good the washing was dry so did'nt get spoiled or you would have had to wash it all over again.

Hav'nt been back to the cupboard at all today. I have backache and belly ache from all the twisting and reaching.

Jane I knelt on a big cusion on the floor to do it and could pull myself up on the work surface. Its a nusance when you have a funny foot that the toe dos'nt bend on because you have to get up on your other foot. Jane will know what I mean as she has a funny foot too. My big toe dos'nt bend up anymore since I stubbed it badly and destroyed the cartiledge (sp).

Sounds like you had a great birthday William.

I'm sure your Maple and Pecan butter will taste lovely Jane. It doesn't really matter what it looks like so long as it's tasty.
So you're doing some sorting out now Jane.

Good idea Mel, to have knelt on a big cushion when you were sorting out your cupboard.

All those phone calls Ann, it must be so tiring and FIL asking for a pen knife, you're right not to give him one. Maybe you could break the chocolate up and put it in a paper back for him.

Off to watch Corrie now

No package here Mel, but haven't seen our neighbours yet - if it went back to the PO we would have had a card. So thank you in advance anyway.

Jane, now you tell me about the cuppa LOL. The restaurant we went to was called Harriet's. very popular it seems.

Frank, I've only just heard about this new found wealth I've come into - bet it's a while before I see it! Not going to tell Carmel, she'll want to blow it on dresses :-0 - though she's been getting it for 3 years and not a word to me!!!

There was an awful storm in Cambridge last night, went on for ages and the rain was backing up the drains and blowing bubbles in the bath next door. It kept Carmel awake and I slept through it.
Magpie, actually we have had a free licence for 8 years now, as Carmel is 3 years older than me, think of all that money we've saved.
