William yes I recieved the photo etc ok. What another lovely one of Carmel. Love her outfit. Nice clear pics also and a lot of them.
Gill any news on the drain yet? Hope they can do something quickly for you as you don't want sewage hanging around in this hot weather.
Jane throw some of his dried food in the basket or his favorite toy. If that fails wrap him in a towel with just his head poking out and shove him in.
Hope we hear from Ann today.
Mandy thats not nice when things like that happen and your not sure if it was you or someone sneaking about. Puts you on edge...........

Mel you must have a different programme to us.I had a look and Move to the Counrty wasn't on here.I was looking forward to seeing Hartland too.
Thomas was easy to get in the basket. He needed a little push back into it at the vets, and only stuck his paw out through the grill once or twice. He has to go back in 3 weeks for the second jab.He may not be so keen then lol He has vanished now.Gone off in a huff probably :-D

Afternoon all
The lady came for the valuation survey today for our buyers. She didn't do much Asked a few questions had a look round testing for damp even on walls that aren't outside ones looked at the front and back of house then went. Hopefully we will hear something from our estate agent soon our buyer will know today.
I had a lovely day with my son and grandchildren Saturday in Norfolk. We went to burnham market and had a lunch in the Holst. Very expensive but then I was treated
Next we went to wells and walked along the long path to the sea which was out lol The kids were then dropped back to their mum in dersingham
Yesterday I did a lot of gardening trimming all next doors hedges that were coming though our fence. Ended up getting stung by a wasp still swollen today. But I still did some more today. Got to keep everything tidy. They were putting the windows in on our new place sat and Clare heard a mighty crash of. Glass lucky she wasn't in her conservatory as a plate of glass from the roof smashed.down. Jane I don't know if you saw the picture

Pat ,I did see the pic of the broken glass !!!!!!!!.Good job no-one was hurt. That must have been quite a shock . Glad you had a nice time in Norfolk and were treated to a lovely meal :-D Do your dogs bark a lot? or is it just a few barks and then they stop?Chester used to stand in the garden and bark at nothing lol.I can understand it being annoying if it goes on and on but if it is just a little while it shouldn't really bother the neighbour. A few months ago we heard the chap 4 doors along shout to shut the bl***y dogs up.it was next doors Alsation and the Retriever the other side of them having their usual barking match and battering the fence. To be honest it does get a bit much sometimes as they are big dogs and have very loud barks and it can go on for ages.
Thomas was fine having the microchip.I did ask if someone else could come and hold him while it was done as i didn't fancy being clawed at lol.But he was as good as gold ,not even a Miaow .He didn't look too impressed though ,and began to struggle a bit afterwards,so we got him in the carrier quite swiftly :-D.So we are down £180 odd now. But we won't have to pay for any boosters or health checks from now on.I did buy the Flea and Worm treatment too.I think I had that with 25% off as I had had him vaccinated.
I do wish this muggy air would clear. It's giving me a headache now :-S
I hope Gill has had the people out by now have a look at the 'problem' and hopefully get it fixed.
Frank what peas are you having if you have to soak them????.I have never cooked a Ham Hock.
It feels like we could do with a good old thunderstorm to clear the air.But I don't think we are forecast anything like that.

Well, that's the drains cleaned out, but not completely sorted. Apparently there are 5 drain rods stuck down there (old wooden ones from years ago) that might be on our neighbours side as our drain goes off on an angle across next door, so it looks like both our neighbours and our drives will have to be taken up to remove the drain rods. It'll explain why OH couldn't get any drain rods down there. I don't know how long it'll be before it's sorted though.
The fella who came to clean the drains also said that there is a few displacements which I don't think we are covered for by the insurance, so we might have to pay for a new liner to be put inside all the drains to fix that problem. He is doing his report today then it'll go to our insurance first thing in the morning, then it's just a point of waiting to hear what happens next and when.
The muck outside apparently was soap from my washing machine, but the fella did confirm that the sewage pipe and the one from the kitchen go into each other which is why we had toilet roll up to our kitchen round the back. He has cleaned it all and jet washed the patio and it smells lovely. I didn't turn my washing machine on as I wasn't sure if it was the right thing to do before he came, but he told me to turn it on while he was here so all I can smell now is the washing liquid I used in the machine, it's smells lovely outside now LOL and the toilet now flushes correctly.....Hooray :-D.
He phoned me at 1.45pm, was here within 5 mins of the call and left at 4.45pm so if I'd have got the company out that I phoned the other day it would of cost me over £600. As it is the excess on the insurance is only £50, although he didn't ask me for a cheque so I kept quiet.....I'm sure they'll invoice me at some point and if they don't the insurance will. So quite an eventful day and I still haven't watched all the shed programs so don't know who the winner is yet. I'm going to carry on watching them later.......Everywhere does smell nice, I can smell it in the bungalow as well as outside :-D :-D :-D.
So Thomas is sulking now then Jane, he'll know what to expect next time you take him so using the towel to put him in his carrier might be a good idea, saves his claws going into you....He's a big cat and you could possibly have a fight on your hands...Better to be safe than sorry.
Yes I got your emails Williams, lovely one of Carmel and the certificate was good too. Quite funny with the OCD ;-) ;-).
Happy birthday Ian <3. Hope you both have a lovely time.
Hope the valuation survey goes ok for you Pat. I remember having one done and thought it a bit strange that they were testing for damp on an interior wall.... very strange. Glad to hear no one got hurt when the glass smashed. It must of been scary?
How worrying Mandy noticing all your gates open, we had door locks put on our side gate so it can't be opened without a key and when it is opened it triggers the security light. Might be worth keeping your back door locked while you're indoors for a day or two you don't want anyone just walking in. Let's hope that's not the case and it was just the wind blowing them open.
Sounds like you're going to have a lovely meal tonight Frank. Not sure what we're having yet, I haven't had time to think about it......I'll have to get my thinking cap on LOL.
No Ann today? Hope there's not a problem and it's just them having a good time that's preventing her coming on the thread <3
Going to see what I can make for dinner now

Gosh that glass breaking must have been dreadfull. Fancy it just going like that. It must have expanded in the heat or had a fault in the glass.
Glad your all nice and clean now Gill and the job seems to have been done. I was going to say about the grey stuff on the patio being water from your wahsing machine as when I lived in the cottage in Suffolk my machine went into a big rain butt and from there across the garden by hose so it did'nt go down the septic tank. That water was always grey.

Yes it was a relief Mel, that it was only soap and nothing nasty. All we've got to do now is wait for the insurance to get in touch with us about the 5 drain rods stuck down there and whether we are insured for them to be removed. Not sure how long that is going to take though.
Off to start dinner now BBL

Mel,I got the name wrong lol,but we still didn't have Escape to the Country :-S.I know different regions show different progammes . Gill at least you know have a temporary result for the drains.it sounds like it could be a big job(pardon the pun :-) )..Smelling sweet now :-D.I wonder how long the wooden rods have been down there.I woud have thought they might have rotted away. You mention displacements. What does that mean?Is it to do with the drains shifting or something?

Well we have just had a BIG shower, now it's like a sauna in here. I am down to u/pants and sweating like a pig. The clouds are so black that I think there is more to come. Watch out Jane I think it's heading your way !!!
What a terrible shock that must have been having a pane of glass explode. I had one go on me when I built the conservatory. It was replaced without an problem. So it might be something that happens now and then.
All sweet smelling now then Gill. Fancy someone getting drain rods stuck down the drain. I bet they turned the rod the wrong way, and undid the end one. Hence they were stuck down the main drain.
What a good little boy he was Jane. I would have expected a bit of trouble from him. Most pets know when they are at the vets. ;-) ;-) and show off. !!!
Pat, that's another hurdle over, lets hope she didn't find anything to put a spanner in the works. :-D :-D
Will, you are showing your AGE. I think we all got the photo's You must be getting forgetful <3 <3 Poor old Bugge# I hope I don't get as old as you ;-) ;-) ;-)
The wind has got up now, and the clouds are flying across the sky.
Jane I use the Batchal### Quick soak peas with the tablets. I put them in Boiling water and let them soak for two hours. Drain and wash. Then put in 3/4 pint of boiling water add salt and sugar to taste. Then boil till all the water has gone. When I took the saucepan lid off they were erupting like a volcano all over the cooker and me. !!! My gawd were they HOT. :-P :-P :-P The ham hock needs to go in a LARGE SAUCEPAN, cover with cold water. Bring to the boil, and then simmer for about THREE HOURS. Keep a kettle of boiling water on the go, for topping up. I am sure you know how to boil and mash potato's, so I won't go into that. :-D :-D :-D THERE YOU HAVE HOCK AND PEAS. No charge for this recipe. But in future there will be :-D :-D :-D ;-) ;-) ;-) <3 <3
I do hope all is well with MIL and FIL Ann. No doubt you will call in later.
BRIGHT SUNSHINE NOW. !!!!

Thomas is looking pretty dopey.I don't know whether to keep him in or put him out tonight.
I made such a massive Lasagne .I could feed you all !!!!! Guess what is for dinner tomorrow????..No cooking ,just reheating :-D :-D
I keep thinking about Ann and her OH..I'm just hoping nothing bad has happened and that they might just be taking some time out.

Evening All,
Well it happened to me Frank........wrote a long post and whoosh it went!! :-S It's been drizzling here for a while too, but not enough to water the garden much. Do those peas have the little tablet you boil them with? I bet your meal will be delicious and a nice change. :-)
It's good Thomas didn't make a fuss at the vet's Jane. Might be different next time though, unless he is just a more laid back cat. I must say I really enjoyed The Outcast.
Oh Gill there's nothing worse than drain problems! It 's good they have cleaned everywhere up and things are working again now, but fancy people leaving rods stuck like that. I suppose they knew no-one would realise till they were long gone though. :-S
It was a good job no-one got hurt by the glass Pat. You've made me glad our conservatory roof isn't glass now! :-0
OH had to do errands for and visit his mum on Saturday and Sunday and see the doctor. She'd told him all her medication was in a bag and he took that when she went into hospital, but it wasn't all in the bag so he had to go back to her house to fetch it and then take it back to the hospital. We were joking the other day that it was a good job he got his new car when he did as the old one would have conked out by now with all the racing about he's doing!! MIL isn't very good so it looks like she may be in hospital for a little while. The anti sickness injections she's having now don't seem to be working that well and they think she may have a bug so she's on antibiotics for that and also a bladder infection they found. She's on blood thinners now as well as they are worried about her swollen legs and the possibility of blood clots to the point they won't let her try to get out of bed, not that she could anyway as she's quite weak now. OH had to go to her house this morning to meet social services who had an appointment to sort a special bed for her. That is cancelled now as she will now be funded by NHS to provide her care needs when she leaves hospital. These things are very complicated as to who does what. On Friday OH cancelled the lady who does her shopping today, but as is the way these days, the message didn't get passed on and she turned up!!
We did get out for a few hours on Saturday and Sunday afternoon though to look at some more open gardens. One was a garden I'd love and had a 7000 litre water tank sunk under the lawn to catch all the rainwater from the roof for irrigation. It also had a ground source heating pump to heat the house water too. The owner had done lots of sculptures in the garden which had some interesting features. I will send a few pics.
In between we have carried on with the study clearout and OH took more black bin liners of shreddings today. He said we have filled 22 big black bin liners up to now! :-0 The big recycling wheelie bin is full to the brim as well so it's a good job tomorrow is bin day. I've chucked out loads of cables to things we don't have now and packets with a few screws in that I've no idea what they belong to and loads of pens and felt tips that don't work have gone. Old diaries have gone and I've also had a big purge on the telly and kitchen appliance handbooks. Some are an inch thick, but most of each is in other languages, so I've removed the english pages and stapled them to the front cover for each booklet and chucked the rest away......it's made loads of room! I've started on the photos now and then there's just one double doored cupboard in here to do!! :-)

I'd have thought so too Mel, but they asked him to go and fetch them. :-S Maybe it was because it was Sunday when they asked and the docs would be closed?
Yes Gill certainly started something with having a clearout!! lol. :-) We are both really glad she did as it takes our minds off things at the moment and the progress is spurring us on to do more. OH said today he is finding it quite addictive. He's got his eye on going through all of his clothes and shoes next. The shredder was so 'busy' it was making the air dusty in here, so he took it outside to do some yesterday and today. He said it was great with the noise it makes getting his own back on the dog next door. He said he was going so berserk barking at it, the neighbour had to fetch him in!! lol. Makes a change from us having to go inside because of him. :-)
OH lost our ONLY shed key yesterday!! :-S He checked his clothes and all the places he'd been (everywhere :-S) emptied sacks full of garden rubbish and went through it all and then did the same with the wheelie bins and then dredged his fingers in the muddy bottom of the little pond. Then I went outside and looked all around the garden and green house. We'd resigned ourselves to sawing through the shed door to get it open then an hour later he found it......in the pocket of trousers he'd swore he didn't wear yesterday!! ;-) We've been out and got a SPARE for it now.

Morning all
Sunny here today but it does look like we've had some rain in the night.
It's nice to see you back on the thread Ann. So I've started a BIG clear-out at yours now?
I felt the same way as you, once you get started it does spur you on to do more. I've got a few small bits to go then the whole place will have been done. I think the biggest job so far has been the loft, which I hated doing, I'm glad it's done and out of the way now, but it put me off doing more until I read your last post this morning. Now, with only having a little way to go, I will carry on and see it through to the end. So today I'll sort out the living room. 7 cupboards and 3 draws.
I'm glad it's taking your mind of things, but what about losing the key only to find it in his pocket, isn't that always the case? Fancy forgetting what trousers he wore..... doubt he'll make that mistake again LOL. Good idea to have a spare cut though, just remember to put it in a safe place :-D :-D.
It sounds like you had a bit of a time with MIL over the weekend, but it was nice to hear you both managed to have some quality time together as well. Looking forward to seeing the pics <3.
OH has gone to work and Sandra is still asleep so I'll take advantage of the peace and quite and make a start on these cupboards. Good luck with your sorting Ann, don't get to distracted with the PHOTOS lol. It took me days to do one box when I came across mine. BBL
