Evening All,

We've had a good downpour here so that will save watering the garden! It feels a bit fresher now too which is good.

What a night you have had Frank. That cramp is agony when it happens and you want to move to try and ease it but it hurts too much to move it! I hope you get a better night tonight. If you are bored I'll set you on with a few jobs here!! lol :-D Isn't there anything you need to sell on e*ay? Much better to be bored than in the state your poor old pal is in though. It's great he is managing to stay cheerful. It sounds like Lewis will have a ball having a good few weeks holiday in the sun now, but poor Ella being ill. I bet she will be happier to be at home now.

Yesterday they were talking about discharging MIL and getting her a bed downstairs and carers in 4 times a day and she was agreeing! She isn't fit enough to discharge, she's weak and eating little and they won't let her walk anyway because of the state of her legs so how will she manage in periods between carers when she needs the toilet or if she is ill. Plus, there is no room for a bed downstairs and nowwhere to move furniture too as they have so much stuff. The volunteer lady that did MIL's shopping a few weeks before she was admitted to hospital and who exhausted MIL by staying to chat to her for over 2 hours the last time, rang here the other day wanting to know where she was so she could visit and take her flowers. She visited her that evening and then was there again when OH visited his mum yesterday. She stayed for over 25 minutes while OH was there which I thought was a bite rude after family had arrived and OH said when he got there she was holding MIL's hand like Mother Theresa! He said his mum was not looking very impressed as she isn't touchy feely at all like I have said before! She'd also brought orange juice and started telling OH he should speak to the staff about the food she's getting and was saying FIL should be brought to the hospital. She was saying OH should tell them to give her porridge yet we knew she couldn't manage that anymore. I'm sure she's overstepping the mark. :-S When she'd gone MIL told OH she couldn't get rid of her the night before. When he went today she asked him to tell the lady not to come again!! She'd also been told by the nurse she shouldn't be drinking the orange juice the lady brought either as it made her unwell!

What a year you are having Gill, no wonder you have headaches with all the stress! When the drain man did a video of our en suite toilet drain he showed me the video on his laptop straightaway and let me copy it to a flashstick to show the bathroom fitter, so it does seem strange they have needed to do yours 3 times!

What a bargain the pencil cases were Mandy. I use a pencil case to keep my jewellery pliers in! It will be great if you can use the pool at the weekend.....it will distracr the children from any arguments hopefully. :-)

I keep meaning to get some of those lights for round the greenhouse door Mel. They are a good idea!

I've had a good sort out of my sewing box and jewellery stuff today and finished the last cupboard in the study.

OH has done more shredding today and has more bags of shreddings lined up in the garage to take. He came in to show me a glowing report of an interview he'd had for a job he got in the past. It mentioned his intellect and 'acumen'. I had to look up what that meant! lol.

Jane, they do go too fast when they explain things don't they! I'm usually the one to work these things out here!.Him indoors doesn't seem to waste his intellect and 'acumen' when it comes to things like that. Mind you, he was always good at delegating. :-S :-S It will be good to have a screen that doesn't flicker.

Off to bed now as OH wants to watch something we recorded.

Gill, what awonderful thing to do for your Mum...A make over for her garden ..is it Alan Titc****'s programme?Wouldn't it be great if she is chosen :-D :-D

Frank, I'm sorry to hear of your old friend. He sounds very ill ,but still has a great sense of humour. Not sure I would manage that if I was in that situation.

Yes Fitz is on a water meter .It was not just a sprikler going it was the tap on Full .Bit like Niagra Falls :-S :-S..I 'M NOT allowed to tell his OH lol

Gill, Chris has put the glass back in ,and Saturday will be spent putting all the new clips in on all the other panes. The clips arrived today :-D
I hope the people don't turn up now Gill ,it's getting late in the day now to start .Maybe they will arrive first thing tomorrow.
I agree it might put people off seeing the drive dug up.But as you say once it is done you should have some certificate or guarantee ..I would be happy with that if I was buying your house.

Frank I will make sure we have a nice lunch tomorrow.I don't like seeing old Fitzy down in the doldrums.Chris is going to some Art thing in London(not sure what or where)

I might go and see if Thomas is around. If he isn't then he will be out for the night.
I couldn't get him in last night. He disappeared about 7pm and by half 10 I had given up calling and whistling .I was getting worried I was going to be waking all the neighbours dogs LOL

Gillx Report 22 Jul 2015 23:43

Sorry to hear about your friend Frank, but he does seem to have a great sense of humour.

That's a good idea to replace all the clips Jane, you don't want anymore glass falling out. The drain people didn't turn up today so it's going to be tomorrow now. Apparently they start work at 7am so I'm off to bed now as I'll have to get up very early. No it wasn't Alan's garden program, I did take a look on that site but it mentioned the date of last November for applying, so I'll have to wait until the site is updated and try again. The site I nominated mum on is called 52 Lives. I was watching surprise surprise and it was on the program. The girl who started the site tries to give one person a week a surprise, it can be anything from Laptops to a holiday. So I have to wait to see if I get a reply, the site says they read all the nominations but only reply to the successful ones.
Enjoy your lunch with Fitz tomorrow.

Sorry to hear about your MIL Ann, that woman does sound a bit much and fancy taking in orange juice without asking the nurses if it was ok first. I hope things improve for her now she's not drinking the juice anymore. You are right about how her situation is going to be once she returns home, it's hard to see how it's going to work. Have you mentioned this to them, maybe they could come up with something better for her?
You did make me laugh though talking about your OH's intellect and acumen. Good job he's good at delegating LOL.

I mentioned to Sandra that Vera was a repeat Liz, but with her not seeing it before she said she must of missed the start of that series so she's quite happy watching it for now. No doubt when it gets to the parts she's already seen, she'll mention that it's a repeat then, but at the moment she's enjoying watching it, so that's good.
Hope you have fun with your family tomorrow.

Off to bed now
Night Night

Ann that lady sounds like a busy body to me. You would have thought she would have gone once family arrived. Bad manners that........ and to think she was giving advice about what MIL should eat too. I can't understand how they think she should go home and have carers 4 times a day when she needs to do thing inbetween visits.

Glad your telly has arrived Jane. You will soon know how to use it it just takes a bit of time. Oh does all ours. He sorted the youveiw box for me the other day.

Mandy first day of the holiday and arguements already!! The pencil cases were a real bargain. The pool will be nice nd warm for the children to play in. You will have to get some pics for us to see.

Liz hope she gets on ok with work experience. When I had the pet shop I took a girl onthat and she was a real little worker I missed her when she left.

Frank I hope you don't get cramp again tonight. Did you get some quinine sulphate tabs from the docs?? Or drink some tonic water before bed.

Morning all

Looks like a dull start to the day today, cloud everywhere and not very warm.

Well, it was an early start to my day today, I'm up and waiting for the water board. I had quite a late night last night and didn't sleep very well so I could of done with a lie in. OH had to wake me up twice. He's just gone to work and Sandra is still asleep, there was no need for her to get up just yet.

I might go through a few more draws and cupboards while I'm waiting, it might keep me awake, I'm so tired and don't want to fall asleep and miss them if they arrive. The sun is trying it's best to come through the clouds and it's so quiet now the children have broken up for the holidays. No doubt I'll hear them all later when they wake up LOL....Peace will be over then ;-).

Going to get a cuppa now, see if that wakes me up a bit

Just finished all the sorting in the bedroom so that room is done and I've changed the bedding. Moving onto the living room now to carry on with the sorting in there. Once the living room is finished there's only the kitchen and the dreaded garage left to do ;-) I can finally see a light at the end of the tunnel :-D :-D.
What will I do with myself when it's all finished ??????? LOL........HAVE A WELL EARNED REST ;-) ;-)

Gillx Report 23 Jul 2015 09:41

that's the large cupboard in the living room done, now to all the draws in there ;-). I'm getting there slowly lol

Morning Gill and All

Wow Gill, will deserve more than a well earned rest when all is done..Mind you I'm sure it wouldn't be long before you found something else to do LOL.
I hope you don't have to wait too long for the man to come today.

Ann, that woman sounds a right nightmare and needs putting in her place.
It doesn't sound as M I L is up to going home at all .The house would need to be assessed to see if it is possible for the new bed to go in downstairs for one thing, and from what you say that is just not feasible.

I have just found Thomas with half a baby bunny in the kitchen :-S...I am becoming more convinced that he is catching and storing them in the hedge :-S :-S.he must think it his pantry !!!!!

Must go now as i have washing to hang out and then I have to take Chris to the station and drop 5 pairs of trousers in the the Dry Cleaners for shortening .One pair of mine and 4 of Chris s.His are nice loose Linen types perfect for the holiday.

Then it home to get lunch sorted.Fitz will be here about 12.30.I hope the sun comes out as it is really cloudy at the moment.

Gillx Report 23 Jul 2015 10:30

Morning Jane

Yes I'll probably find something else to do once all the sorting is done. I'm thinking of making a picture for my bedroom wall, I've been thinking about it for ages and had got some things to make it with but couldn't remember where I'd put them, but guess what? I've just found it all, so that'll be my next project.

I'm on my third load of washing, all the bedding has been done already. I've got a few draws to do in the living room, then I'm moving onto the kitchen. Luckily the one cupboard in the kitchen I wasn't looking forward to doing under the sink, was done the other day so I only have 6 cupboards to sort out and there's not much in them so hopefully I'll have the whole bungalow finished today.....Hooray :-D

It sounds like you've got a busy day as well, hope the sun comes out for you so you can peg your washing out, mine is all on the line.....the sun finally made an appearance through all the cloud we had this morning.

So Thomas is up to his old tricks again and now he has his own pantry LOL. He is a funny character isn't he? It's not like he needs to hunt anymore now he has you feeding him. It sounds like he's been hunting his whole life if he's still doing it now.

Enjoy your lunch with Fitz later hope the weather is nice enough for you both to sit outside. Must get back to my sorting now before the water board turn up.

Morning all and evening Kim,

Sunny and then not sunny here and the sky is a bit grey.

We are out this morning to Holsworthy for some wasp powder and other b its and then on to Cornwall for lunch. that means no cooking tonight hooray!!

Your nearly at the end then Gill. What was the picture you were going to make and what is it made of please?

Frank

Frank Report 23 Jul 2015 11:20

Morning all, Evening Kim,

Still having trouble getting on the thread. !!! Been all round the houses again this morning.

That woman should be told in no uncertain terms, that she is not welcome at the hospital. I can see her getting MIL very confused. And as for giving her anything to eat or drink is a COMPLETE NO NO. How is FIL getting along Ann.

I hadn't seen that VERA before, and I wished I hadn't seen it last night. It dragged on for so long. They could have condensed that episode down to an hour, and I think that would have been to long. ME THINKS I will be looking for something else to watch on Wednesday evenings.

Hope you have a nice day out Mel, it will make a nice change for you. Are you off with OH or your friend ??

Jane, It sounds as though Thomas has his own LARDER. I just hope he doesn't pick any something nasty in the carcase , and make himself ill. Enjoy your lunch with Fitz and not to much WINE hic hic ;-) ;-)

No cramp last night, and apart from 3,00am trip to bathroom I slept until 6.00 am. and was up drinking tea by 7.00 . Ros came out about 8.30 am.

Washing next door still out !!!and there are plenty of clouds about, so not sure what we will get today.

Again no plans for today. Ros has to go to Tesc# for bits. then a quite day in I suppose.

The Water board are here and have been for the last few hours, they still haven't retrieved the drain rods but haven't given up yet, hopefully they'll get them out with the tool they are using, otherwise my drive will have to be dug up :-(

On a positive I've finally finished sorting out my living room, but have decided to leave the kitchen for now as my OH is due in from work and he'll be wanting a cuppa, plus I'm far to tired. So the kitchen can wait for another day.

I've decided to make a picture using a sample piece of wallpaper, it's got lovely flowers and branches on it Mel, and I'm going to add birds and butterflies to it. Hopefully it'll work out the way I'd like it to and will brighten up the bedroom a bit.

My washing is almost finished, I've got my towels in the dryer, I always put them in there as it makes them soft. It's just starting raining here luckily all the rest of the washing dried nicely on the line before the rain started.

I hope the weather is nice for Jane and Fitz.

Glad to hear you didn't get anymore cramp last night Frank.

Going to get a drink now then try and find a box for a few bits I want putting up in the loft, then as soon as the water board have left I'm going to have a nice soak in the bath, my back is really achy. I've already explained to mum that I won't make it to hers today as the water board are still here, she wasn't happy but understood it couldn't be helped.

Gillx Report 23 Jul 2015 14:59

Afternoon all,

Lovely day here nice and sunny.

It will be good Gill if they can get those rods out so you don't have to have all the drive dug up , i wondered if there was some thing they could just put down to grab the rods .
You'll be tired tonight after getting up so early this morning .

Went shopping this morning ,looking through the sales clothes for the children i bought the girls some pretty little dresses ,Chelsea's was only £3-50 !! the other two were £6 each instead of twelve pound ,found a nice T shirt for Jake for £3 and one for Lewis for £2 .
I dropped them in to them on my way home , there was no arguing today when i went in ,i think they must have had a good dressing down from their dad :-D

Oh dear Ann, it does sound as if that lady needs to be told ,it was so rude of her to stay when OH got there , it's not as if she has known MIL very long is it .
I carn't see how MIL would manage if she came home as you say it's ok while the carers are there but happens when they go and then she needs the loo !!

I have been pottering in the garden and the green house ,the toms are so slow and so tiny this year ,not very good at all, plenty of flowers on the runners now and i can see two tiny beans forming .

I wonder how many bottles Fitz and Jane have got through today :-D

Far to many MANDY ;-) ;-) ;-) One between two would have been enough But we all know LADY JANE, don't we !!! .

Bargains all around then. At least you couldn't buy one without the other, or that would have caused a RIOT let alone a row between the children.

What GOOD NEWS GILL, The rods are out without any more expense and NO digging up the drive. Will you be able to have your viewing now on Saturday ???

Mandy, you may have noticed I have been picking my runners for over a week. A right little Percy Thrower I am. The tomato plants are well over SIX FOOT tall with lots of fruit and flowers. ;-) ;-) ;-)

I did a silly thing at lunchtime (NO I didn't fall over) I had a plate of smoked Mackerel with Horseradish sauce, and a half of a French stick. I am suffering now with the indigestion. I have had a gulp of Gavis##n so hope that helps.

Would you believe Madam is still fi8nding things to do on the patio. Replanting and topping up pots with soil. What will she do when WINTER comes. Needlework and patchwork, together with her Jewellery. She hates not having things to do.

Nice bit of Sirloin Steak tonight. With chips, mushrooms, onions, tomato's and I might have a few baked beans. Oh and a peppered sauce for her indoors !!!

Bright, still, afternoon outside, so our Jane and Fitz will be dozing in their chairs <3 <3 <3 She had better be careful if she has had a drinkie poo, remember she has to pick Chris up this evening. or perhaps James will if he is home.

Cuppa time and a piece of cake for the worker. !!!

Afternoon All,

A dull and cloudy start here this morning but it's patches of sunshine now.

Hooray Gill!! That's good news they got the rods out of the drains ok. :-) Yes a good soak in the bath will be good. We've found just bending sorting stuff has given us backache too. You don't realise till it's too late!

The clothes you got for the children were great bargains Mandy. There are some good ones about just now with sales on. I must look and see if we have any tiny beans yet. I know there are some blackfly on them so better get them sprayed again. Our toms are very slow too and the cue has given up the ghost and shrivelled up!! :-S

Oh no, I hope Fitz's OH doesn't get to see the next water bill first Jane!! :-0 At least what he has growing where the water went will be very lush now after that soaking. I see Thomas is still liking his rabbit meals. I hope he hasn't got a decomposing stash under the hedge! It's a nice day for lunch outside and a glass or 3!

The home said this morning that FIL has made good friends with 'Jack' and they potter about together all the time Frank. It's good he has a man pal to talk to now as I doubt the ladies would be as interested in his war stories. I'm glad the cramp didn't come back last night.

Hope you have a nice day Mel. Where in Cornwall are you going?

I'm glad you all thought that lady was a bit much too. I thought I may have been overreacting but even OH thought she was a bit opinionated.

Gillx Report 23 Jul 2015 16:12

I started packing the box of things I want putting in the loft but gave up half way through....for now anyway as I'm so thirsty I've had to make yet another drink. The weather has brightened up again now so that's good.

Yes Frank we'll still do the viewing. I had to ring the first drain people back, now the water board have done their bit and they're not booking the next job in till next week so it should be ok for the Saturday viewing. Hope your indigestions has gone now, it's quite uncomfortable to have.

You do find the bargains don't you Mandy? The children must love you to bits with all their presents........Will you adopt me LOL :-D :-D :-D.

No Ann you certainly weren't overreacting, that woman was just plain rude staying to talk to MIL when her son had arrived. Glad to hear FIL has made a new friend, it sounds like he's really settling in now doesn't it? At least that's one less worry for you both <3

Hope Jane and Mel have enjoyed themselves today. Cornwall is such a lovely place, hope the weather was nice for them both and Jane didn't drink to much with Fitz.

My toms aren't doing very well this year either, we get them from the same place every year and this is the first year they've hardly produced anything :-(

Well, I'd better get back to packing this box and having my bath before it's dinner time. All the washing is now finally finished......Well, for today anyway. I'll definitely sleep tonight LOL. I'm still chuffed that neither ours or next doors drive ways have had to be dug up ;-) ;-)

I have just watered all the back garden .It takes so long to do .

Indigestion gone now Frank? I hope yoiu have been able to enjoy that lovely juicy steak :-D

Gill that is brilliant news about the Rods and such a relief for you. :-D :-D.I'm sure you will have a much better nights sleep. At least too now you can keep the appointment for the viewing .

Mandy that was a really good shopping trip .Happy Children :-D :-D.There are some good bargains at the moment with all the sales on.

Ann,how nice that FIL has Jack now.He was probably feeling out numbered with the women.I always think there are far more women than men in Care Homes.

James will be home in minute so I'll get his dinner sorted. Not sure if I fancy anything yet as i am still quite full from lunch.

Not sure if it will be me or James picking Chris up yet.I expect I will do it.Hopefully the train will be on time at 9.30
