Sorry Mel, I've re read your thread and you did say it was for your OH! In this house he'd be told to get his own, so I think that's why I thought they were for you!!
Sausages from the farm shop with garden spuds, and - runners!! for our supper, OH doing the cooking!!?? me, packing the dishwasher! a fair division of labour?!!!!!!

Glad to hear your fall wasn't to bad Frank, do take care of yourself.

Well, I never got all the present wrapped up in the end, I've been busy outside, the drain men let me use the power washer it was great fun but nearly knocked me over backwards when I first turned it on it was that powerful but I soon got the hang of it and really enjoyed myself :-D :-D. Apparently it's used for cleaning out the drains rather than cleaning patio's, so you can imagine how powerful it was and it was very heavy too, my arms are a bit achy now.....No doubt I'll feel it in the morning LOL.

No Frank I won't be seeing Michelle over Christmas. Once she has visited us in September that will be it for the rest of the year, which is why I've bought her presents and need to wrap them all up before her visit. I need to do her birthday presents too. Apparently she's not allowed to take holidays during November and December as they are to busy. (She works in a clothes shop) So it doesn't look like I'll ever see her for her birthday or Christmas or my own birthday either. Both our birthdays are in November 12 days apart from each other.

The drain men were saying before that they have finished their part of the job and so long as the corner is ok that will be it. They need to send the camera info off to the insurance to see if the corner needs to be done and if it does then they will have to dig up a small section of the drive or patio to sort it out. So all I can do is wait to see what happens next, if anything.

I was so pleased with their work that I asked for their full names and their works number so I can ring them tomorrow to let them know how good they were. They were a bit late this morning but that wasn't their fault, there was a problem at the office. The only thing I didn't like about them was that if they had to go and get water they didn't tell me they were going, but apart from that I couldn't fault them.

I did feel sorry for the younger one, he's only been in the job 3 weeks and he had to put the first liner down on his own, something he's never done before. Bless him. He was so worried because if it went wrong they would of had to dig up the drive to get it out, anyway it was fine so he was chuffed (as Jane would say LOL) with himself and carried on with the rest of the other liners. He told me that when the other man looked down the camera he was winding him up by saying it hadn't worked.....How mean was that? But they both had a laugh about it and luckily the weather stayed dry all day which they were pleased about :-). So hopefully it's all finished now.

OH said he had problems posting the letter to the agent as they didn't have a letter box in the door, so he had to go back a bit later and hand deliver it. I've just rang them to see if they have received it to be told NO, so I told them over the phone that I'm giving the notice and could they email me to confirm it. The email has just come through, so the bungalow will be coming off the market on the 18th August.

Well I'd better go and sort out dinner, where has the day gone?

Windy here but not as bad as it sounds down your way Liz.Decorator has gone now but will be back first thing in the morning to do what I imagine is the second coat of paint.Have had to ask next door if they could leave their gate unlocked again.
He has done a great job pulling off all the old ivy branches under all the gutters ,and next door Chris nipped round with a spray to spray the root of the ivy there growing up our side wall.

Frank that was lucky your slip in the shower wasn't too bad .I know that has happened before to you.
Know what you mean about STALKS in those veg bags.I often think there are far too many when I buy a bag of Spring Greens :-S..I don't do big hard stalks. Most of it ends up in the bin :-S

Mel thats good your mouth is beginning to feel less sore now :-)...I bet those Sweet Peas smell wonderful.I love the smell of them.
I'm trying to think about plastic balls with holes in at school ,but nothing comes to mind.

What a pity about the Barometer Liz.Hope the dogs are well out the way of any 'bits'.Or do they not get to go in that passage?
I will be worrying about Ann and OH tomorrow when MIL goes home. They will be on tenterhooks .I am getting bad vibes about her going home.Hopefully I am wrong.

I must go and get the MEATBALLS cooking :-D :-D

Gill have they finished?

Evening All,

Oh oh, Frank 'break dancing' in the shower!! :-S It's lucky you didn't hurt yourself, but at least shower parts can be replaced. I bet you will feel the pulled muscles tomorrow. It's great that Ros enjoys the garden so much, she makes a grand job of it. Yes, I always have a good look at those bags of stirfry to try and avoid the ones with the thick cabbage stalks in!! I've even chopped them up smaller sometimes to get them to cook like the rest. I'm not mad on the huge amount of beansprouts you get in some packs either.

It's good the weather has been ok for doing the gutter boards Jane and good that Chris seized the opportunity to spray the ivy. We get loads of it coming through our wooden fence from next door and it breaks the wooden slats.

It seems everything likes the hog food Mel, cats and now a fox. I hope your mouth is improving. Speaking of cigs, a little kiosk has opened next to the garage just down the road and it sells nothing but 'E-cigs'. You wouldn't think they'd make a living selling just those would you? I think I remember those balls. They were plastic, in bright colours, and a bit smaller than a tennis ball. They were very light as you say. Thanks for reminding me about the email. I will send it after I do this post! I think you will be pleased when you see it!!

We went and made up MIL's bed this morning ready for her return home tomorrow. It's a bed that adjusts up and down Mel, so hopefully it will be low enough for her. It's one that has an air mattress you can adjust too. There is also a little table that swings across the bed. She has a commode that she has accepted now so she won't really need to go upstairs......whether she does to see what's been happening is another matter! She was pestering OH to tell the hospital to let her out as early as possible tomorrow......as if he could influence their workload and ambulance availability.....she doesn't think!! I just hope she doesn't expect him to be lugging furniture and the bed around on his own when she gets home if it doesn't suit her. We still don't think she'll manage, she's quite weak and thin and tires very quickly. Still they've warned her of difficulties she may have and as it's her decision, it's her responsibility. All we can do is worry about it!! They wanted to massage her legs to help reduce the swelling to help her mobility today but she wouldn't let them as they were too painful. We got her some shopping in after we'd done the bed and spent ages looking for something she'd specified and we eventually discovered isn't even made in the flavour she wanted.

OH has gone to a footie match in Staffordshire tonight and is seeing a pal who runs a footie club shop, so has taken some programmes for him that he no longer wants. He's felt a under the weather the past few days so it will do him good.

I've managed to carry on with the clearout in the bedroom and have been through all the drawers under the bed and things that had been stuffed in the bottom of a cupboard and have 6 more bags for the charity shop tomorrow. I should finish in there tomorrow, just a wardrobe top shelf to do and my shoes to go through.

Gill it sounds like the drain people have done well today. Fingers crossed they won't need to do any digging though. Will Michelle open her presents while she is staying with you? She'll notice a few changes won't she with you swapping rooms around and decorating.

Nextdoor are having their polycarbonate conservatory roof replaced with a solid roof. I shall be interested how much cooler it will be as it is something we have thought of doing but wondered if it would make the kitchen too dark. I suppose we could have a velux window in the roof near the kitchen window though.

The builder turned up this morning with a digger!!! He's been cutting trees down and clearing the undergrowth where they plan to build so he must have actually bought the garden now. We are still waiting to hear about the disputed boundary which will decide whether it's to be 2 or 3 properties. I can see more dingdongs with him and the neighbours coming as I remember there being smoke for days on end with his bonfires when he built the 2 bungalows next to us.

The second Agatha Christie episode was a bit violent wasn't it!

magpie Report 4 Aug 2015 20:44

It only cracked the glass Jane, so OH will take it out and replace it at some stage! Mel, I had a friend once who rolled her own cigarettes, she was very adept at it!! Neither of us have ever smoked, so its a skill we have done without!!
We're watching a prog about building a house for 100k! It's very interesting!!

Ann MIL will just have to be patient and wait for whenever transport arrives !!!
I think tomorrow is going to a very worrying day for you both.I just hope that she isn't just dumped at home into her bed and that there will be no carer to come in.I don't even like to think about it really.I just hope everything is set up and in place (re carers) and that there is no 'cock up 'with communications. The hospital SHOULD have everything organised.
I will be thinking of you both tomorrow and wait to see how things go.

Off to bed now.Up for the decorator early again in the morning :-S,and Thomas is in :-D.I know I will be woken at 3.30 or 3.37 :-S It's like clockwork every night :-S :-S

Morning/Evening All

Fingers crossed all goes as well as possible today Ann. <3

Well it is quite a nice morning. Not sunny but reasonably bright and still a bit on the breezy side.I have a ton of washing today so the towels are in first and will hopefully dry pretty quickly.

Decorator is busy painting away up the ladder.I think it just a mattter of painting all the boards now as he did the preparation and undercoat yesterday.

How is the mouth this morning Mel?

I am off to the Post Office now to get a Card for Johnny's Mum and Sister as it is the Opening of 'Johnny's Happy Place' on Saturday. It is incredible to think they have managed to get it up and running in well under a year.

Gillx Report 5 Aug 2015 09:34

Morning all

It's a lovely day here today, I've spent the last hour sitting outside with my cuppa. It's so quiet and the patio looks so big now it's all clean. There are a few patch's they missed but OH can do them on Friday when he's off.

I got a reply off the council about the planning but they said that I have to look on their website, which I've already done because they charge for advice now. The website is full of all sorts so if we do decide to go ahead with anything it's going to take me a while to find the relevant information I need. OH is going to have a word with his mate down the road when he gets five minutes, so hopefully will have some answers soon.

I think Michelle will take her presents back with her Ann and open them on the days. If she wants to open them when she's here, that would be nice for us as we can see her face, but it's up to her.

I hope everything goes smoothly with your MIL today. Those buzzers are good and a comfort for her should she need extra help when the carers and you aren't there. Do you think she would use it though? :-S :-S. I bet Gordon enjoyed his footie match last night, it's just what he needs right now......a bit of normality and some male company. How are you feeling today? Not to stressed I hope?

That was lucky that the glass just cracked Liz, although it would of been better if it never got broke in the first place. I found some broken glass behind the recycling bin yesterday from when we through away the broken picture from the loft. I though we'd got rid of all the glass but like Mel said you can find pieces for ages after can't you?

The Great British Bake Off is on tonight, Sandra and I are looking forward to it. We're now waiting for the Great British Sewing Bee to be advertised, as we like to watch that one too.

I've decided to email the drains company to say how pleased I was with the workmen yesterday. It's easier to say what I want without forgetting something. I hope they let them know I've sent a good report as most people only contact companies when they have complaints, which is fair enough, but I think more people should contact them just to say how good they were too. :-) :-).

Well, Sandra's still asleep and OH is at work so I'm going to get back to wrapping all Michelle's presents up now before something else stops me LOL then I'm hoping to do a bit of baking later as I've been meaning to do it for a while but I've been to busy with other things. First I'm going to change the bedding and put that on the line while the weather is nice. Another busy day ahead for me again ;-)

Morning all, Evening Kim,

Here I sit all showered and in shorts when Ros reminds me I have to be at the NURSE at 11.40 for my injection. Will mean I will have to change !!!

This morning didn't get off to a good start. Ros went to get out of bed and couldn't put any weight on her left leg. With my help she got into the lounge and sat down. She now has a stick to help her get around.

After ringing the Doctor and getting an appointment for 11.35 this morning. We then needed a lift . We made 6 phone calls to friends and neighbours before we found one that could do it. Going out, vets appointments, someone visiting. You wouldn't think it would be that difficult to get a lift.

Today's the day Ann !!! Hope everything goes according to plan <3 <3

Jane that is so quick getting everything sorted for Johnny's Place, lets hope that goes to plan also.

Gill. I always make a point to leave feedback for good service. I always do it for the Assistance we get at the airports with luggage, Wheelchairs etc. When speaking to one of the assistants they said "Very few people bother, they just think it's our job "

Got a reply from Tesc# this morning. They are sending a £5.00 voucher. and THEY SAY contacting the suppliers, I won't hold my breath :-D :-D

Quite a still morning here, very overcast but that horrible wing has dropped.

How's that mouth this morning Mel ???

Mel Fairy Godmother

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 5 Aug 2015 10:27

Morning you two and all others and evening Kim,

Weather here is pants....................................dull breezy and it has been raining a bit so watch out it may come your way. :-S

Last night whilst out in the garden with oh before dark hog watching I was bitten by something on the back of my neck. Boy does it itch this morning.

Mouth on the roof is a bit sore this morning just one side but it is getting better as My tea gets colder.. Yes that what it now feels like.....when you burn your mouth with hot food or drink. Cheek is a bit better today too dos'nt feel quite so puffy.

I just can't get Ann and Gordon off my mind this morning. I wish with all my heart everything goes to plan and MIL is able to cope on her own at home but I don't think once it is put into practice it's going to work. For goodness sake they must have got to know what she is like in hospital. I suppose Gordon will get calls all the time too.
Now you two I am telling you make sure you get some GOOD you time together or else I shall be up there and give you both a good old fashioned spanked botty. :-| :-| :-|

Now where was I? O yes got out of bed this morning and looked out the window and there on the corner of the chicken run eating the weeds was the deer. WEnt to the loo and told oh to look out the window on the way past his study which he did and whe I went back in there we were looking and talking and he said is that the baby coming along now? It was so we watched deer and deery me out the kitchen window as they had moved round there. Oh tried to get some more pics on my camera but they moved off towards the arch and out of the garden.

Better get something to eat so I can take my pills it may stop me rattleing.

Meant to say to Ann what a good find you had and thanks very much for sending it and yes it was a nice surprise.

Frank

Frank Report 5 Aug 2015 13:02

Well what do you call a false alarm. ??? After getting everything sorted for Ros to go to the doctors, she tried walking up and down the lounge on my sticks. Lo and behold, there was an almighty KLICK and a yell of pain, and she felt something go back into place.

She cancelled the appointment and the lift. leaving me to get to the nurse on my own for my injection. I was there on time, and the only one in the waiting room. I sat for over 30 minutes, nobody came or went. I was just about to ask if I had been forgotten, when the nurse appeared , no apology or anything !!!! I commented that she must be well behind and so busy to be running this late. :-P :-P :-P NO REPLY

I felt quite tottery on the way back, and was so pleased to get in doors and flop in the armchair.

The T.V was on and very loud, Ros was on her sewing machine, I said TURN THIS ROW DOWN. Her reply was I can't hear it with the machine on so I turned it up !!!!
I ASK YOU !!!!

So she has gone out in a huff, gone to see Martine. I suppose my name will be mud :-D :-D :-D

I've had my tablets but no food, so I am going to get a sandwich and coffee for lunch. or I will be rattling also Mel.

Gillx

Gillx Report 5 Aug 2015 13:50

It's been all go at your place today Frank, Hope Ros is feeling a bit better now and you too after flopping into your chair LOL. That wasn't very nice of the nurse to not even apologise for leaving you waiting so long.....How rude.

So you've seen the deer again Mel, pity you couldn't get some photo's, maybe next time she might keep still long enough to get one or two pics. Glad to hear your mouth is starting to feel better. It normally doesn't feel completely back to normal until you have taken the last anti-biotic but at least it's easing each day which is good :-) <3.

I think we've had some of your rain Mel, after such a lovely morning, and now, although it's stop raining, it's very cloudy and dull........ Not much of a summer this year is it?

I decided to email the drains company to say how good the workmen were as that way they'll have a written record of it.

I had some bad news this morning, one of my husbands relatives has passed away. He was a distant relative living in New Zealand who had been helping us with the family tree. His granddaughter had come across all his contacts and emailed me this morning. Apparently his wife died six weeks before him. I've replied to the email thanking her for letting us know and to tell her that we are thinking of her and her family at this sad time. Now I'll have to tell OH when he gets in from work later :-(

I got a phone call off one of the agents we were in contact with the other week wondering if we are going with them to sell our property. I explained that we'd had enough after over 5 years and needed a break. We're not even sure right now if we are going to put the property back on the market. We are a lot less stressed and life is finally better for us both. It was so stressful before and caused a few rows between us over the years, so I'm quite happy to keep it off the market and have a better life instead ;-) ;-).

After receiving the email off my OH's relatives granddaughter I've been taking another look at OH's side of the tree and found a few more people. Needless to say Michelle's presents still haven't been wrapped yet. Good job I've got a month or so to do it in, as I'm getting into the family tree again :-D.

Hope everything is going alright for Ann and Gordon today. I can't stop thinking about them <3.

Going to sort out some more washing, then back to the tree again

Back from shopping and when I went I took my light weight rainproof jacket thing with me. Took in into the shop and when I came out it was pouring so on it went and all the other people coming out were complaining as they were in t-shirts, cardi's etc. A lot of the women let the men go and get the cars while they stayed under the shelter but they bunged up the out doorway. What a todo. I am now half unpacked and having a cuppa which oh made me.

I am still thnking of Ann and G too Gill. I hope they hav'nt had an akward time getting MIL home and sorted but I expect we shall get the story tonight from Ann.

Frank I am pleased Ros's leg clicked back in but it must have been very painful. She must have lay funny in bed last night.

It's still pouring here and the skies are all grey and dreary.

Shame about your oh's relly Gill. Seems strange he died about 6 weeks after his wife but thats often the way it seems. They are together again now, bless.
