Mel Fairy Godmother Report 6 Aug 2015 10:24

Morning all and evening Kim,

Well you lot who have rain today we have a abit of sunshine on and off with blue sky and big white and grey clouds.

I have a bit of blue green glitter under my E key on the key board and when I press on d it looks like a little light under the keys it is so annoying I shall have to get the hoover on it to see if I can shift it. You know how it an stick to things and it dos'nt move if I turn the keyboard upside down as I've tried that.

It's going to be another very stressfull day for Ann and G. I do hope this can be sorted out quickly. Hope they had a nights sleep and were'nt turning things over and over in their heads. Thinking of you both today once again.........

Yes Jane all the presents are wrapped up now, both Christmas and birthday and I've written the cards too and popped them in the bags with the presents. It took me about 3 hours, I didn't realise how much I'd got her. I think she is going to take them all back with her and open them on her birthday and Christmas day, but there is one I'd like her to open while she's here because I want to see her face. It's the white mirror with butterflies on it. She is making a white bedroom and loves butterflies so I hope she likes it. As soon as I saw it I thought of her <3

So Thomas slept on your bed.......Bless him. At least it gave you more sleep time.

Hope Ann and Gordon got a good night's sleep, they're going to need it with the day ahead they've both got today.

The sun has finally come out and Rosie jumped up on the window sill for her food again, which Sandra thought was sweet.

Off to get something to eat now

Frank Report 6 Aug 2015 13:16

No mishaps here this morning or this afternoon. :-D :-D

The suns out here now Jane, I started off in shorts, then into joggers, now going back to shorts. It's turned very warm, plus I have been busy.

I have done "SHIN OF BEEF" in a gravy, Potato's for mash, Cabbage, Broad Beans, Swede and carrot for mash. Hovered through.

I had a nice Egg and bacon sandwich for breakfast with red sauce. A nice cup of coffee, so I won't want anything till tonight.

Oh you have a shining light then Mel, I daren't tip my laptop upside down as my "G" will fall out, and who knows what else ;-) ;-) ;-)

How's the present wrapping doing Gill ?? Bet you have been doing other things in between.

How nice for Thomas to wake you at 4.00 am. I was clock watching then. Knowing madam had to be up by 7.00 am I kept dozing and looking.

I hope she doesn't eat too much while she is out. As she will never eat my dinner tonight. I have stewed some rhubarb for her also. I'll give myself a "GOLD STAR"

Any news Ann on the MIL front. Do hope they get her sorted today. It's going to be a constant worry for both of you. It's a good job her neighbour has offered to pop in, but what will she do if MIL has a tummy upset. ???

I don't know what day it is, let alone what week. I was sure you were having lunch yesterday Jane and Ann together with Fitz. Will you take Chris along Jane, or will he leave you to it !!!

I will go down the garden to see if there are any more beans that want picking. Shall I bring some over Jane :-D :-D :-D :-D Meet you at the "RED HOUSE" on the A 43. lol

Afternoon All,

Well we did get a good night's sleep....just not enough of it as OH had to drive back to his mum's house to be there for 9.00am. Thank you all for your kind thoughts which are of great help. You are right Jane, she's still not home yet.......good job OH took some sandwiches with him.

I printed off a Hospital Fact Booklet last night to check what the position is re discharge from hospital and it confirms that no-one can make you do anything unless you have mental incapacity. If you choose to go home they just have to assess you and provide what support they think you need. Even that fails to some extent if someone says they can manage and exagerates what help is available and I can just imagine MIL doing that. OH is determined not to go and try and fetch her. He said he had the devil's own job to get her in and out of the car when he took her to the home to see his dad and she says herself that she is weaker now than when she was admitted to hospital.

Naughty I know, but while he was at the house yesterday he came across her diary. (we didn't know she kept one!) Anyway he had a look through to see if there were any clues about his dad deteriorating in the past year. It was full of very mundane things like changing the bed, when we visited etc, but OH said it was very sad to see all the entries that said his dad had struggled to get back from the newsagents, or had got soaked doing so and how many times they were going into town every week with him pushing her in the wheelchair and getting home and feeling bad afterwards. He said the foot spar she bought had only lasted 2 weeks before it was given to a charity shop. I'm wondering now if the bedding I got for her will 'suit'. If not she will be getting the neighbours to get her more! I thought I'd play safe with cheery cream roses with grey foliage on a white background, but we'll see.

This morning sweat was running down my face climbing up and down finishing clearing the last wardrobe shelves. Three more bags to go for charity with shoes that don't fit now or the leather is too hard. It all looks so much better but I still have too much stuff really. :-S Next job will be the floor to ceiling cupboards the width of the porch. One is a cloak and shoe cupboard and the other is a broom cupboard, but the shelves above have all sorts packed away.

Jane you'll have to drop a hint to Chris about the love and kisses you get in bed from Thomas, ;-) lol.

Yes, no getting into trouble Frank! My beans are growing nicely now......soon be a feed off them!! Oh I see you have been busy too and making me feel hungry.

Have you got that wrapping done now Gill? It must seem strange using christmassy paper in August, but to be honest if we all wrapped as we bought things there wouldn't be such a big job at christmas.

Mouth still feeling better now Mel? No rain here yet today, just sunshine, but we did get a drop last night that nicely soaked the garden.

I wonder how Mandy is getting on with the make and bake days etc and whether the children have been in the pool? I bet she is being kept busy now it is the school hols.

Off to get a cuppa now and then maybe a shower and decide whether or what to eat. Tricky as I think OH will want to eat out somewhere local to unwind when he eventually gets home.

Gillx Report 6 Aug 2015 14:37

I've replied to your PM Mel. So you have a light up glitter keyboard now LOL.

The sun is still out here, but it's quite breezy so not that warm. Good for drying my washing though.

All the wrapping of presents is finished now with only one break to feed Rosie LOL. Yes it is easier to do it as you buy them, it's going to save me so much time nearer Christmas now. I still have some presents for OH and Sandra to wrap up but I have more time to do those, so I've left them for another day.
At least all Michelle's are done now, ready for next month.

Glad to hear you had a good nights sleep Ann even if it wasn't enough. Be careful you don't over do it with your sorting, there's always tomorrow. Just a bit at a time and before you know it, it'll all be done. That's how I did it and it took me about 3 months to complete the whole job.
Do you know what time your MIL is going back home? Good idea for your OH to take some sandwiches with him this time.
I wouldn't worry about reading MIL's diary she'll never know and now your both know what has actually gone on.

Sounds like you've been busy Frank. How is Ros's leg today. The NEC is a big place, hope she can manage all that walking. She'll be shattered by the time she gets home. It sounds like she'll be coming home to a nice dinner though.

I've decided to bake some cakes today. I was going to do them the other day but it didn't happen as I couldn't use my sink with the drains men being here. I thought I'd make a nice cheesecake too, OH likes them and he'll be in from work soon, so that'll please him.

Well, I'd better get on with it. See you all later.

Gillx Report 6 Aug 2015 15:02

Wouldn't you know it, our estate agent has just rang to set up a viewing on Sunday. I told the girl on the line that we are taking the property off the market and she said she didn't know anything about it. It just goes to show they don't talk to each other....Typical and they wonder why we're getting rid of them :-S

Annx

Annx Report 6 Aug 2015 15:17

I love a nice cheesecake Gill! I can imagine the lovely baking smell in your kitchen doing the cakes too. How big is your tree now? It sounds like you must have added a lot recently.

MIL is home now and has a rehabilitation team looking after her for 6 weeks. They didn't know she's terminally ill which isn't good as their aim is to help people recover. OH said she was ill straight after her small lunch, could barely lift her legs onto the bed and when the carer asked if she could pour herself a drink she said her hands shake too much. The carer said to OH would he be able to do that for her and looked startled when he told her he didn't live there. She's too weak to even press the toilet flush, so it seems total madness for her to be at home without 24 hour care. You wouldn't believe it, but one of the first things she asked OH was would he phone the home and ask if his dad's hair needs cutting.....she's obsessed!! Goodness knows if and when he'll be home, he's shopping for bowls now so they can wash her as it exhausted her going upstairs, even with the stairlift.

No more sorting today! Off to do a few errands.

Frank Report 6 Aug 2015 15:40

Oh you poor thing Ann. What on earth is going to happen to MIL when everybody goes home later. Surely she can't expect Gordon to stay there night and day. ?? I think the Doctor should make arrangements for her to be put into somewhere, where she will be safe. I can see an accident waiting to happen. :-( :-(

Gill send me some cake please, I am just going to make a cuppa. :-D :-D

The sun has his hat on, with a few white clouds flying over in the wind/breeze.

Meat is in the oven on a low heat, so it will be as tender as a baby's bum when I dish up at about 6.00 pm.

I have typed this without my glass's on, so hope there are no mistakes. !!!

Jane

Jane Report 6 Aug 2015 16:41

Back from the hairdressers .It feels good now after a nice scalp rub and good cut :-D
So that is done now for the next 5 weeks :-D

Ann ,I am finding myself feeling very cross with this situation with MIL.She should be having 24hr care from the Macmillan Nurses now.The fact she is unable to even pour a drink says how weak she is.I don't think she will be home for long.Fancy the care team not being told she is now terminal.I would imagine that OH is going to very worried leaving her.
LOL not the haircut business again. If I was OH I would just say that he has had a trim and looks very handsome :-D.She need know no different atthe moment :-D.
As for the new bedding she should be very grateful that you have taken care choosing what you think she will like.I am very sorry she is so ill,but she just sounds a very self centered woman and gives no thought to anyone else.(don't tell OH I said that lol)
I bet you can't wait until next Wednesday .You can unload all that stress on Fitz and my shoulders (they are plenty wide enough :-D :-D)
No Frank Chris won't be joining us.He knows we will be talking Genealogy and of people and tales he has no knowledge of.He would be bored stiff lol

Gill your estate Agents sound a right useless lot.Good job you are getting shot of them now.It makes you wonder how they are still in business if their service is as bad with other customers as it has been with you.

It's too hot here for baking today Gill.I have never ever made a Cheesecake :-S
Chris has just put shorts on and then as soon as the Decorator has been to collect his money I will be stripping off and putting my maxi sun dress on .I look hideous in it but it is so warm now it is going to be the most comfy thing to wear .

I bet Ros will be hot at the NEC Frank .It will be heaving there.Your dinner sounds very tasty :-D.I am going to have a Chicken Breast with lots of BEANS.(not runners) but Dwarf and Long ones. It the Red House Pub the one opposite that Petrol Station ? If it is the one I am thinking of it is derelict !!!..Always a bit of a black spot there too for accidents.

Glad the presents are done Gill :-D :-D :-D.Thats one thing out the way .

Mel is your bit of green glitter gone now?? :-D.That would have irritated me .

Well Russell ahs now been for his money so I am off to change

Gillx Report 6 Aug 2015 17:38

I'm so sorry to hear about your MIL Ann, but to some extent she has brought it on herself. She really does need 24 hour care now. I agree with Jane and it really isn't fair on you and your OH. Do you think she is mentally capable of making decisions on how she is to be looked after, because if she isn't then the doctor can step in and do something?

Maybe you should speak with the doctor and say something, even if it's a small white lie. I'm sure you'd know what to say and then you'll both have peace of mind if the doctor assesses her and agrees to her mental state. There's stubborn and then there's silly. I really hope she doesn't have any accidents.
Fancy the carers not even knowing she was terminal, surely someone should of told them.

I'm not making the cheesecake now, OH decided he prefered the cake instead. I always make two large Victoria sponges and if I was to make a cheesecake as well, I doubt they'd all stay fresh long enough for us to eat them. There's only three of us. Well, two and a half as OH is hardly here LOL. I'll make the cheesecake when the cakes have been eaten.

I have 2985 people on our tree Ann but that is my side and my husbands side together. I've been doing our tree for over 10 years and didn't realise how many relatives we had/have.

I'll send you some cake Frank if I can have some of your lovely meal you're making :-D I haven't even thought about dinner for tonight. The second cake is still in the oven and it's boiling in the kitchen as the sun came out and stayed out so it's coming in through the window and cooking me......Maybe I could be dinner LOL. Not much meat on me though.

Yes Jane, the estate agent is useless and I'll be glad when I'm shot of them. I'll never go with them again, that's for sure. I've got a feeling our property won't come off the market on the 18th as I doubt anyone will remember to do it.

Well, I'd better go and check my cake then think about dinner. Times getting on.

Well, Ros got home about 5.00 pm, just as I started watering the front garden. She said don't forget these plants, pointing into the border. I HAVEN'T GOT THERE YET. !!! Then I got the hose round my legs and went A over Head on the lawn.

Dinner will be late tonight. She has just gone of to meet up with Harvey, we are having the cat for two weeks maybe three. So no doors open in case she decides to go walk about :-D :-D :-D.

My lovely dinner is ticking away in the oven again, I have just put in back on, together with the veg.

I had better go and see if everything is O.K.

Dos'nt sound good at MIL's Ann. CAn you buy her some of thosse drink with the sucky type top or would she not be able to open those?? The ones where you pull the top bit up . I used to buy mum the drinks with glucose in as she liked those.

It seems to me that there is no communication with the hospital and the carers etc. They should have been informed that MIL is terminally ill surely? and I agree with Jane that she needs 24 hour care.

G should just tell her that FIL has had his trim and that should stop her asking. He shoudl do it every couple of weeks like when she used to arrange for him to have a trim.

Well out came the hoover this morning and I attacked all the spiders and their webs and went all round the edges of the kitchen and as soon as I put my foot on the thing for the brushes to go round the leccy went of. I tried twice and gave up. Got out henry and did the kitchen and dining area and went into the hall lugged Henry behind me, hurt my tummy using him and then his pipe came off so I gave up in discust and abandomed him in the hall where he still awaits putting away.

Then I went to the bank in Holsworthy to bank a cheque for oh and get chicken food. I feel like I have been on the go all day without a mins peace.

Sausages for us tonight so thats nice and easy.

I wonder what Mandy has been up to with the kids? I am sure she will tell us when she gets time to get on the pc without being too tired. They do wear you out these littlies............

Hi everyone,

Sorry I haven't been on lately, just trying to catch up on things, always lots to do. Either that or now that I'm an octogenarian it's taking me longer. I know my arthritis thinks it's got a priority now, how do these things now how old you are ? :-D

I promise I won't mention Le Shed (whoops, just dun it!!) but I think I've got it all sorted and lovely and tidy now, even got my weather vane on the top, refurbished and of course there has been plenty of wind to test it out. It has a special significance for for me as it's topped by a tractor that turns in the wind, as well as the little coloured cups that spin round. My dear late friend and fellow model club member, Erik (The Viking) worked at Massey Ferguson tractors in Coventry. He quite a good job that took him all over the world and he even wrote a book on the 'Little Grey Fergy' tractor, of which I have a signed copy. Carmel and I would have lovely times at their cottage in Frankton (his widow Mary is still alive but sadly in a home in Oxfordhsire) and when Carmel was having the worst of her health problems, Erik would drive us up and down to London to the hospital there. So, having gone through all that - you can now see why I love to see that little tractor spinning in the wind.
You remember the photos I sent out of my little bus conversions to routes I used when I was younger? Well, I wrote it all up and sent it to Model Collector magazine and my copy arrived today and I was delighted to see that it has made a full page in the Letters section and not only that but it's tagged as prize letter and apparently a little gift (don't know what yet, model of some sort) will be wending it's way to me.
My car is going for it's M O T on Monday so fingers crossed it will pass with flying colours once again and then I can sort the road tax out. It's ten years old this September and I still love it to bits.
Oh and Carmel has to go for her M O T on Tuesday, not not really - she has to go for an MRI on her knee to find out why she is still having problems and why it is swollen and lets her down sometimes. It's only at the local hospital so no hassle and no huge car park fees like Coventry Uni hospital. I don't know how long it will be until her G P gets the results, not too long we hope.

I better sign off now, I want to back track on the threads and see what has been happening in your lives.

OH came home shattered and is in his jimjams relaxing at the moment. I think we will have a very early night tonight. He's rung the macmillan nurse again and will ring MIL's doctor in the morning as the discharge letter says to do that. The next day or two may change MIL's mind about being at home. (I hope so for my hubby's sake) The home have rung and say the doc is putting FIL on something for depression to see if it helps. He is concerned about the effect on him when MIL passes away.

Jane I know you wouldn't mind but I shan't do much unloading when I see you and Fitz. I'm mindful that his difficult times with his mum weren't that long ago and we don't all want to end up gloomy. I'm really looking forward to escaping it all for a few hours though, as I'm in danger of forgetting how to laugh!! :-D Yes, I'm sure there will be plenty of genealogy talk. :-) I agree with you about MIL but won't be mentioning it to OH either. I think he is finding her much the same too if truth be known, but it's too late for her to change. She's still thinking she will be visiting FIL so I think he's best to just say the home are dealing with his haircuts. It must be on her mind all the time.

Well I noticed our gas boiler water level was low this afternoon, but when we took the cover off tonight to turn the key to top up the water nothing happened and then I noticed that there is a disconnected hose lying underneath?? I think it should be connected to the bit where we were turning the tap so it looks like the chap who last serviced it may not have put it back on. I'll have to ring him in the morning and see if he can come and do it quickly if it is that. :-S We'll have to have speedy showers in the morning in case it's harmful to use it with low water.

I'm losing the plot with what day it is too Frank. OH is enjoying the jokes you sent.....he says they are just the job!!

It's good you got the present wrapping job done Gill. Your tree is a lot bigger than mine and mine is a joint one with hubby too.

I was sorry to see about George Cole. I used to love Minder.

Well, I think him indoors is ready to watch a bit of telly in bed now so night, night everyone. :-)

The next couple of days will be the testing time as to whether MIL is going to be able to stay at home.I will probably be awake tonight worrying about her !!!!! :-S
Early night for you both sounds a really good idea .I bet you have already gone :-)
Meds for FIL's depression will be a good thing.I think I said a few days ago how they helped my Mum.

I said how the Bloo#y hell can you let the soaps dominate your life. !! Then it all kicked off. I have been sitting on the patio with a few beers. I have been playing with the cat. She is looking very thin, to what she was last year, but happy to play with my feet.

Morning all

Nice and sunny here this morning, so I've done some more washing to peg outside before it rains again.

Well done Will, I bet you were made up when your article got star prize and can't wait to receive your gift. You'll have to let us know what it is when it arrives. Hope the MRI goes well for Carmel and your car passes it's MOT on Monday.

It'll do Gordon good to have an early night, you too. Hope you managed to get some decent sleep last night Ann. I think the meds your FIL are on now will help, but it does take a few weeks, so give it time. I don't know what to say about your MIL that I haven't already said, it is a worry, but hopefully she'll realise that she needs the proper help a home can give her, rather than staying on her own <3

Did Ros enjoy the NEC Frank? I like the soaps too but sometimes record them and watch them when OH is in work. Most of the time they are over anyway when he gets in so it doesn't effect him that much. Well, the cake went down well last night and half of the first one has gone already ;-) which is why I always make two at a time.

So Thomas had a crazy moment then Jane? I bet your carpet is covered in black fur now. One of our cats used to get like that. All of a sudden she would go mad running here and there, for no apparent reason, it was quite funny to watch, but did leave quite a mess with the fluff everywhere.
I do miss her though and the other two I had. There used to be 7 of us here including the cats and now there's only 3 of us left :-( It's very quiet now. I do miss the good old days.

Hope your tummy is feeling a bit better today Mel. I've replied to your PM

It sounds like my washing machine has finished, so I'll go and peg it all out
