Morning all

It's just started raining here after a lovely sunny start to the day. We thought it was going to be hot again so OH has just finished watering all the plants. If we new it was going to rain this early in the day he'd of left it to mother nature. Never mind it might only be a small shower which wouldn't of been enough to water the plants anyway. It was forecast to rain quite heavily later this afternoon but it's very cloudy now.

Glad to hear the meal went down a treat Frank and there wasn't much left over, it makes all the hard work worth while.

I tuck the cords behind the header tape too Ann. It sounds like MIL is finally seeing things the way everyone else does.......but will she do anything about it and go into a home. I doubt it. 4 days a week isn't much help, I'd of thought it would of been every day as she needs the help. What does she do on the days no carers are there? How are you and your OH coping, it must be quite exhausting with all the running around? Glad to hear FIL is feeling a bit better in himself now, it'll please MIL to know he's had his hair cut. I'm sure when he's ready he'll take a look at the photo's, facing them down is probably his way of coping with the situation.

I've been awake since 5.30 this morning after a bad nights sleep, so I gave up in the end and got up. Just having a cuppa then I'll have a nice bath and wash my hair. OH is out again, gone to his mates and Sandra is still asleep, so I can have a long soak without being disturbed.

The rain's coming down heavier now, so it looks like it's here for the day after all.

Raining quite hard here! so no watering hooray!! Both dogs walked and in their beds!
OH has the Dentist this am, then a bit of shopping. I shall stay here and do some much needed housework! I want to watch 'A life in squares' on catchup so shall have plenty to occupy me!!

Morning Liz

Hope all goes well at the dentist for your OH, glad to hear you didn't have to water your garden, OH timed it wrong this morning LOL

The rains stopped here now so I took advantage of it and went into the garden to clean some of the patio the drains people left, I've also hovered and polished.

I was suppose to have a bath but OH came back because it started raining, he was helping his mate with his garden, then 10 minutes later it brightened up so off he went again, then Sandra woke up and needed the bathroom, so with the bath being on hold I did all the other jobs.

I'm now going to run the bath and relax for a while until OH gets back, then I need to go out and buy something to wear for the funeral on Wednesday. I've lost so much weight I don't have any clothes that fit me anymore so I desperately need some new things.

Going to grab a cuppa now while the bath is running

Morning all and evening Kim,

Raining here too. Such a mucky day, mucky Monday..............

Jane thanks for the link to JHP and seeing the pic of him I feel as though I have seen him before. Such a lovely lad. they've done a great job with the cafe'. I hope it is a great success.

Nothing planned for today so I suppose it is down to housework.......yuk. Hate it.

Took the last of my antibiotics last night so thats one pill I don't have to worry about.
Now I am going to get something to eat so I can take the rest.

Frank

Frank Report 10 Aug 2015 10:47

Morning LADIES and GENT. Evening Kim.

Wasn't it hot last night, ?? I slept on the top of the bed and only pulled a sheet over me at about 3.00 am.

The morning started very bright, so I opened the small windows, and put the fan on. It's now clouded over and the breeze has got up. So I expect we will get what Liz and Gill are having, coming at us from North and South. At the moment it's a southerly wind !!

All showered and fed. Egg and bacon sandwich three big cups of tea. I will be running to the bathroom all morning now lol

Lara (Julia's daughter) rang before Ros was up this morning wanting to talk to her. I said tell me and I will pass it on, No I'll ring her this afternoon. So it must be something secret or a woman's thing. Ros will tell me anyway.

Our little visitor has settled in so well, she now tells Ros when she is hungry, and is so playful jumping on my feet each time she goes by. I have been sitting around without any slippers on.

I have emptied the dish washer and put everything away. Washed up breakfast things, they are draining at the moment. Will wipe them up later.

Now got to think about what to have for dinner, when I ask Madam if she fancies anything, she just says "ANYTHING WILL DO" so it's left to me to decide. !!!

Hope you all have a good day, whatever you might be doing. As for me NOT MUCH !!!!

Forgot to mention WEST HAM beat ARSENAL TWO NIL YESTERDAY.

It's now RAINING.

Gillx Report 10 Aug 2015 11:30

Love the pics Frank. So you've warmed to the cat now......I knew you would, you're a big softy really :-D :-D.

I won't tell OH the footie score.....He supports Arsenal so won't be a very happy bunny if I tell him :-( At least it was good news for you Frank

My bath's run and Sandra has finished in the bathroom for about the third time today, so I'm going to get in before she needs to go in there again. Now I know why I call her peanut......it the size of her bladder LOL. I don't know what it is with her but every time she thinks she can't use the loo for any length of time she always wants to go, it was the same when the men came to do the drains......very strange. Good job I love her <3

Off to get my bath now........FINALLY lol

Morning All,

OH is still at his mum's so I have made a start by clearing and cleaning the fridge freezer. Some stuff was so old and a lot of things I'd frozen last year like rhubarb and tomatoes and christmas leftovers. All in the bin now and at least what's left is edible!! I've also been to the dogs' home with the old duvet and 4 more bags.

No rain here yet but we could do with it as the garden is parched and OH forgot to water last night.

Frank, the cat sounds as if she's happily settled in her new 'second home' now!! I wonder if they remember a place the next time they stay? It's good everyone appreciated and enjoyed your meal.

Thanks for that about the curtain cords everyone. I think I may have tucked the bits behind the header tape in the past, but it is sewn down the sides in these curtains so there's no 'slot' so to speak. The knots don't show at the moment so I think I'll leave them for now!

OH just rang and said it's been horrendous this morning with his mum and she now WANTS to go in a nursing home. OH has to try and sort this now, whereas the hospital would have found her a place if she'd agreed to it when she was discharged and NHS would also have paid all of her care costs. There will be no help with FIL's care costs once his wife isn't living at home either, so it looks like it will be all systems go for us to clear and sell their house next to fund everything.

Mel Fairy Godmother

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 10 Aug 2015 12:12

O Ann we all said this would happen. I feel so sorry for you and G as you have all that work to do now. When you put the house on the market G will still be going backwards and forwards to the house for viewings. Or I suppose he could get the estate agent to do the veiwings. These things get so expensive as I experienced with my nan. I had a bill for £16000 when nan died back in the 80's and that was a lot of money then. I do wish she had agreed to go in a nursing home in the first place to save you all this trouble. Make susre you get some time together to relax and chill out a bit. I know it's hard to find the time but you must............................you need it even more now.

Frank

Frank Report 10 Aug 2015 13:05

Well Ann, I can only say it's for the best. But not for you and Gordon. All this extra cost and arranging everything is just putting more strain on you two. Let's hope she doesn't change her mind, and that you can get the property sold quickly to cover all the expense's that you are going to incur.

HOW'S THAT BATH Gill ??? I bet once you get settled in there you don't want to get out. There are times when I would like a good soak, but with no bath, I am stuck with the shower.

Very fine drizzle here now. Provided it continues it will do the garden good. But if the sun comes out, it will soon dry it out again.

Have got dinner ready for tonight. Pork joint, Runners, cauli and Broc. Peas and carrots and new potato's. Should be a nice bit of pork over, either for a sandwich or for cold meat and chips tomorrow.

Mel that was a lot of money to have to pay out in the 80s, Gawd knows what that will relate to cost wise at today's prices.

Madam has showered and washed her hair, she is now under the dryer watching Tele.

I'm going back to my book, and the way I feel I will be having FORTY WINKS. !!!!

William Report 10 Aug 2015 14:29

Just a little note while I'm waiting for our car to come back from its service & M O T.
Mel, the postman has been today but no package as yet. Maybe tomorrow, and I hope he comes before we have to go to the hospital for Carmel's MRI. I shall be on hot coals now until your mail arrives. I even looked in our porch again yesterday, just in case the card they mentioned (if in fact it was left?) slipped out of sight. I didn't expect to find anything and didn't - as our porch, unlike those who live next door, is usually neat and tidy anyway. Be sure I will let you know the minute that it does arrive. I'm also on the look out for my 'prize' parcel for the article I wrote. I shall burst out singing the Carpenter's song 'Please Mr Postman' any minute now. ;-)
I was up early this morning as I didn't know what time they were coming to collect the car, so once they guy had been I got a chance to get outside while it was dry (we had some rain overnight) and do some jobs that required my power saw - and you guessed it, most of the jobs involved my shed!
Did anyone watch the film last night 'Life of Pi'? We thought it was brilliant, so well done, amusing, sad, totally different and with some amazing effects. At times it could be what you wanted it to be, although all those Meerkats was a bit over the top and to have desert creatures taking to the trees at night took some believing - but hey, it was only a film!

Right off to do some other jobs, hope you are all having a nice day.

Gillx Report 10 Aug 2015 14:30

I bet you're made up (Chuffed lol) Ann that MIL has finally agreed to go into a home. You can get someone to clear the house and also the agent do the viewing's for you so there could be less work for your OH and you if you chose to do things that way and a lot less stress as well.

Yes I enjoyed my bath Frank and now feel a little sleepy. I'm going to have to make a start on dinner soon, I've got some chicken left over from yesterday so need to use that up and I'm going to make a big pan of potato and veg soup as well so it'll just need heating up tomorrow. It'll give me something to do this afternoon.

I'm finding it difficult to fill my days now all the sorting is finished. There's hardly anyone here most of the time so the bungalow doesn't get very untidy and there's only hovering and polishing to do every now and then, which I've already done today and of course the washing which the machine does for me......isn't that nice of the washing machine :-D :-D.

Rosie came for her food earlier and the heavens opened with a massive down pour of rain, she jumped just inside the kitchen and I didn't have the heart to make her go outside, so she sat on the doormat and ate her nuts. By the time she'd finished her first lot the rain had gone down a lot so I gave her the second lot outside the kitchen door. I don't want her to get used to being fed in my kitchen.

The sun's out and has been for a while and it's gone really hot with hardly any clouds so I'm going to peg all my washing out now

BBL Enjoy your 40 winks Frank

Gillx Report 10 Aug 2015 15:03

Sandra's just found a pair of black pants I gave her a few years ago that aren't to big on me so I'm going to wear them for the funeral which means I don't have to go out and buy a pair now. They don't fit Sandra anymore so she's given them back to me.

You've just reminded me Will I had the DVD of a life of Pi but can't seem to find it, I never got round to watching it and think it might have got packed and put up in the loft. I have, however, got some other DVD's I haven't watched yet so I might start watching them over the next few days.

Frank

Frank Report 10 Aug 2015 15:16

No such luck Gill. When madam came out of the shower she said there was a leak in the corner and the main bathroom floor was wet. So out came the sealant gun, and I set too squirting sealant around the area. I won't know if it is cured until I try it tomorrow.

Ros has just put a line of washing out. The slabs are dry but the sky looks full of rain clouds, so will have to keep an eye on the weather.

That phone call this morning was to ask if Ros can add a couple of inches to a dress she has bought for a wedding. Why she can't get it done at a alterations shop I don't know. Other than they want to charge her £50.00 for the alteration, where as Ros will do it for FREE. She is bringing it over later this afternoon. I have told Ros, if it looks to difficult, SAY NO> !!!. You don't want to be responsible for ruining the dress. Let someone else do it :-P :-P :-P We only hear from her when she wants something :-| :-| :-|

I see there is a match on SK# tonight, I might be forced to go to the pub to watch it and have a couple of pints. Now the football season has started, this could be a regular thing ;-) ;-) ;-)

Any more development on the roof Pat. Once that is sealed, they should get along like a house on fire. Not literally :-D :-D :-D :-D

Where's trouble today (Jane) very conspicuous by her absence !!! Hope everything is alright. It's so unlike her. !!

Gill as I said before, if you have time on your hands, why don't you take up a hobby. There are many things you could do from home, without interfering with family life.

What are you up to today Mel. ?? more gardening ???

I think the cat is more at home here than she is at home. She has company here where as at home, they are out all day, and she doesn't see a soul. At least here she can see and hear us, and comes for a play when she feels like it. I am sure I will miss her when she goes home. ;-) ;-) ;-) NO I AM NOT HAVING ANOTHER ONE :-D :-D :-D :-D. I might get one like Thomas, <3 <3 <3 <3

I have been trying to clear the kitchen up a bit but oh has been adding another strainer to the pond and I have boxes and poly bags all over the place.

William I hav'nt sent the parcel again yet so will let you know when I post it so you can look out for it. It is still sitting here on my desk so I hav'nt forgotten it and it's just got to be opened and repackaged and then I have to get down to the post van to post it again. I also want to ask them if I will get my postage back.

Right I am now going to corn the chickens and get this corner of the kitchen finished before makig oh a chilli for dinner and I can have a couple of boiled eggs for mine. I had a huge salad with tuna lunch time so don't feel that hungry.

I wonder if Jane can't get on the net again? It is unlike her not to post.

Jane

Jane Report 10 Aug 2015 17:28

Don't panic Frank I'm here :-D..I just seem to have been on the go all day and now I have just cooked dinner for later.I think I may have put too much fresh Rosemary in :-S.It is Italian style Beef stew thing.
This moring I have been looking at a couple of other catteries as the one I had booked Thomas in to in September can't take him until 2 days after we go away and James is going to be in Germany with work then.Anyway I have found a much nicer one :-D.
You know Barford Bridge on the Corby Rd? there is a row of cottages there .It is at one of the cottages.Lovely cabins with pod type sleeping quarters which the cats get to up a plank and then though a cat flap with the window bit taken out.Ten the space underneath with a big Scratch post. The lady only takes 8 cats .It is set out at the bottom of the garden and just has a good feel about the place. So I have now cancelled the other place.

I hope you have managed to seal the leaky shower.I suppose it will take overnight to set.Ros is very good to do this ladies dress.I'm sure she will do a grand job :-D

Gill I am a bit like that with the loo ,maybe not as often as Sandra but like her if i think I can't use one for a while I tend to just see what I can squeeze out even just a dribble LOL .I am the same when it comes to travelling .Every opportunity I go just incase it is a long while before we get to another.

Crumbs Ann.I don't think any of us surprised at MIL saying now she would be better off in a nursing home. It's not even quite a week is it?
Did you tell me that Nursing Fees are not paid for any longer ? or am I mistaken? Will the Macmillan Nurse be able to help with finding an appropriate place for MIL?
You both must just about be at the end of your tethers now :-S..Will you still be ok for Wednesday?I do hope so as I think it will do you the world of good.

Well we have had a dry day so far and now there is actually some blue sky.Hope pat has had the same so the work on the house can start again.

I did the spot on worm stuff on the back of Thomas's neck earlier bit I think it must has somehow dribbled around down the side of his neck as he has been licking and licking :-S :-S.I hope that he isn't going to be ill now

Ahh dear Rosie :-D..Gill it would have been nice if you could have managed to get a pic of her sitting on your mat in the kitchen :-D :-D

Just to report that our car passed it's MOT with flying colours, now I can get the road tax sorted for another year, well, in a week or so maybe. It's going to seem funny not having a tax disc any more!
We just need Carmel to pass her MRI - MOT tomorrow.

Jane

Jane Report 10 Aug 2015 17:54

Thats good then William :-D.I agree it is weird not have the tax disc in the window any longer.I hope all goes well for Carmel and her MRI tomorrow <3

Frank Puss seems so settled with you.She sounds a real treat to have :-D..Just like my horror :-D :-D :-S..Last night I was chasing him once again as he tossed a poor little mouse around the lawn.Thomas was even trying to roll on it !!!.Mouse shot off under the hedge with Thomas in full pursuit .I heard a lot of scrabbling going on and then Thomas came out alone :-D.So I think mousey had a lucky escape.

Those quilt pictures are amazing Frank. So much work gone into them.Bet Ros really enjoyed seeing them all.

Mel wasn't Johnny a nice looking lad.It was only in real life before he became addicted to all sorts that you realised how handsome he was.He had the loveliest eyes and smile and a mass of curly hair :-D

Frank Report 10 Aug 2015 19:24

Dinner all over, Dish washer on. I've had another shower (so sticky).

I have watered back and front Garden and pots. Had the sprinkler going on back borders and lawn.

Washing all dried today much to my amazement. The black clouds kept going round and round.

Poor old Ros, she got the washing in, and as she came up the steps into the conservatory the wind blew the door closed, catching her across the HEAL, spit the skin open, and it started to bleed and swell. She has cleaned it with wipes and put a large plaster on. I bet that will be sore for a few days.

Lara is Harvey's wife's daughter. She turned up with her little girl about 4.30. The little one is very pretty with a mash of back curly hair. We think it is a throw back from Julia. !!!

You made me belly laugh Jane, talking about THOMAS. I bet I would get on well with him. The little tinker !!!

I'm going down the pub in shorts and short sleeve shirt with ankle socks and a pair of canvas shoes. More comfortable than trousers.

Might see you later.
