So all nice and tidy then Frank :-D.Was it your favourite girl who did your cut? That was nice to have lunch out. Gill give me a few days and I will PM you with the tale about Edie.I will have to jot things down on paper first just to make sure I have things right LOL.It's quite a tale.It might not be until after the weekend though as Hannah is home tomorrow and it will take me a while with peace and quite to get it all down. :-D
What a video of the Dolphins that Ruby sent !!!!!.Amazing creatures.I don't really like to see them being trained to entertain the public ,but they really look like they are having great fun :-D I see Cilla Black had a great send off today. It did make me laugh when the Bishop said to Paul O'Grady to say 3 Hail Marys :-D :-D Dinner tonight is cooked and ready keeping hot.Just Sausages ,and a tray of roasted peppers, red onions, mushrooms ,Charlotte Potatoes...and RUNNERS :-D

Evening all,
We had rain this morning but it eased off and it's been a nice afternoon , we took all the old Forsythia to the tip this morning and then spent the rest of the day clearing the shed ,hubby has thrown all sorts out which has make much more room in the shed ,i sorted all my flower pots and bits and pieces and then had a good sweep up so it's all nice and tidy ,how long for we shall see !!
Ann, it does sound as if MIL is nearing the end now , hope she just drifts away peacefully in her sleep ,a sad time for you both ,i'am thinking of you <3 <3
Gill, that was nice to have a day out shopping with Sandra and your mum , and new shoes to go with the dresses you have been altering .
Fiona i wondered what the top hats were too ? I hope we're going to see a photo of the fancy hair styles and the made up faces :-D i'am sure you'll all have a great time .
Who's this smart looking chap with the short back and sides :-0 :-D Oh be careful near the pipes Frank we don't want any leaks !! You are going to be busy what with the garage door to paint and now the boxing in of the pipes ,so that's an inside job if it's wet and an outside job if it's dry .
Jane ,not another leak !! you don't go long between leaks do you , is the plumber a nice young dishy chap ? ;-) ;-) :-D :-D We had lovely runners again tonight too with Bolognese over a Jacket spud ,oh and carrots and leeks too.
Friday again tomorrow , and Chelsea has her tooth out tomorrow !!

Have a look at the weight of them too Mel, some are quite heavy which isn't easy on the back either. I thought I might try a rechargeable one in future. I tried one when I bought my last hoover and it was much better than I expected and no trailing cable. Is it Frank who has one?
Yes, MIL is sleeping a lot now so we hope she will slip away in her sleep like my first MIL did. OH has said he won't tell his dad when she goes and will tell the home not to say anything to him. We were amazed yesterday to see he doesn't wear a watch now, despite all those clocks he had at home!! He's no sense of time or date any more and he's not asking about MIL so we think it is kinder.
Frank, you be careful boxing those pipes in........you don't want leaks like Jane has again.
Jane, OH said he saw the same black 4x4 down the close a few days ago and to turn round it reversed right up the drive of our neighbour opposite while he was out!! Rather proves our point that visitors to the new places would have to use our drives to turn in as there's no room for turning on the builder's plans.
Fiona How is Katherine doing in her new job now? Does she like it better?
Gill, you have done well with your shopping today! I wish I got to the position with nothing to do.....there always seems to be plenty, but then again I don't work as fast as you these days!
We both feel shattered and I have a headache today, so we are having an early night. We went for a short walk along 'Whistle Way' earlier. It is an old mineral line rail track that ran from the now filled in quarry in the village to the station sidings in the next village. It is a peaceful nature walk now with trees either side and there are a bridges taking it across roads. Lots of doggies have walkies there!
Night night till tomorrow. :-)
Edit......best wishes to Chelsea for tomorrow. <3

Hi all, I'm new to this site and my interest came from seeing the title of this thread. I thought I'd posted something here already today but as it hasn't appeared on the thread I reckon I didn't process it properly. I'll keep this one brief as I went on a bit about my childhood memories. Getting a John Bull Printing Outfit and a chocolate smokers outfit one Christmas Dressing our dog, Rip, in a knitted Jacket and bonnet and pushing him round the estate in a pram. He jumped out once when he saw a dog and started fighting it, complete with his jacket and bonnet on. Talk about Big Bad Wolf! Rubbing a soft pencil over a piece of paper on top of an old penny and threepenny bit Making an egg shaped Easter card for my mum, blue with blackbirds on. She kept it for 55 years and now I have it :-)

Thanks Jane, I'll look forward to your PM. That's nice having Hannah home, are you doing anything nice together? Or will she be out and about with her friends?
Your walk sounds nice Ann, I guess you've had good weather then? We've had the sun all day, although it did cloud over later today but thankfully no rain :-) Hope your headache goes soon, an early night should work. I think you're right not telling FIL about MIL just yet, it may upset him again.
So you and your OH have been busy sorting out your shed Mandy? Everyone is going to be so clean and tidy, ready for the winter soon, with all this sorting out <3

It's me again. I promise I will be careful with the drill and the pipes !!! Ros said leave it until she is there. When I said I would do it better without her being around, she said "you will be swearing and cursing if things don't go right, and I don't want you on the steps while I'm not here." WE WILL SEE> !!!
You are never without a leek Jane. How do you do it ??? Thrust you to get things mixed up between food shopping and hoover shopping. !! :-D :-D
Mandy that little walk sounds nice, We had one at Gayton where a single track railway ran years ago. I often walked my dog down there on Sunday Mornings. "I HAVEN'T GOT SHORT BACK AND SIDES" just a nice gentleman's trim Done by my very nice young lady.
Ann you will need to keep an eye on that 4 x 4 he might knock in to someone's car and not bother to stop. !!
We have a re-chargeable Dyso# which is perfect for us. The charge lasts about half an hour, which is time to get round the bungalow, before it runs out.
We are wondering if Lewis has heard about his results. A friend was going to collect them on his behalf, and inform him of them, but it might be tomorrow.
Well I'm off for the evening, see you tomorrow.

You're not going to be climbing up STEPS again Frank. Maybe you should wait for Ros, you don't want another accident. PLEASE be careful, you know how we all worry about you. Hope Lewis is pleased with his results and lets you know soon what he got.
Hello Iris, welcome to the thread. I remember making an egg shaped Easter card for my mum, not sure if she kept it though :-S I did laugh when you were telling us about your dog, it did sound funny........Not the fighting, but the outfit :-D :-D Sorry to hear your first post didn't come through, that happens to some of us here from time to time, it's quite annoying isn't it?

Hi Iris Welcome to the thread Now that is another memory you have brought up.Rubbing over the Penny and thrupenny bits :-D.I do remember doing that :-D Your little dog Rip must have looked a honey in his jacket and bonnet in the pram !!!!
Yes those Chocolate Smokers things.I liked the pipes :-D I think we would love to hear more of your Childhood memories as we have come to a halt now .We seem to have run out of memories.I think most of us would have had the printing set.I had forgotten the name John Bull. That would have been around the same time of the Cardboard Post offices and Sweet Shops :-D :-D..What great fun they were. They would seem very old fashioned now for todays Children. But I think if they were given them they would still have as much fun as we did. Also the cut out dolls from Bunty comics with the tabs on the clothes .I had lots of shoe boxes with them in .Different outfits ,hats and handbags and shoes .I spent hours doing that :-D :-D.This was in the days before Sindy and Barbie dolls.
I am now going to go and try and call the cat in.He was here an hour ago but has gone off.I really don't want to be sat up for ages waiting for him. Mandy I have no idea how good looking the plumber will be lol.The last one was quite cute.I think it just depends on who is working in the area as to who turns up.It could be an ugly so and so :-S.Just as long as he sorts out the problem I will be happy. What is it about this house and leaks??????
Gill all I know is Hannah will be in to eat tomorrow night .I think she has a full schedule with her friends. We are just a stop over LOL. I do know on Saturday afternoon that she wants to go to Johnny's H Place as it is open again then.So we will both go .
Wil sign out now for tonight .
James has called down the stairs to say he can hear Thomas Miaowing outside. That is good as I won't have to go shaking the biscuit box down the garden :-D Better go and let him in :-D
He now has the Devil in him :-S

Thank you Gill Rip was quite a character - he started following my brother on his paper round. We took him back to his home several times but in the end they said we should keep him. He was a Black and Tan Machester Terrier, very handsome and loved by all the neighbours. Friends used to call to see if any of us were 'playing out' and if not they'd ask if Rip could come out. His Sunday name became Ripodashinariocontrariobalario Rip Van Winkle Anker :-)

Thank you Jane, yes the sweetie shop and post office were great fun - hours of entertainment. On very wet days or maybe if I was off school ill, my mum would let me take stuff from the pantry and make my own shoppie for the dolls. Playing schools with a few pals was a good game, as was playing libraries. Little notebooks fastened together with tape or holes bored through the edge and wool holding the pages together. In our family we had one comic between the six of us, The Topper. I did have a cardboard cut out doll at one time though.
Thanks all for letting me share some memories from my childhood. Lots more to come...

Hope you get a good nights sleep Jane, but I doubt it will be for a while if Thomas is that excitable LOL. Hope he calms down soon and doesn't wake you up to early in the morning.
We had a similar experience with Michelle on her last visit, she was out and about a lot, although OH was a taxi for her most of the time ;-) We're hoping this time round we might see a bit more of her, although she's only down for a few days, as she has to get back for work.
So you haven't been knocking holes in your pipes to get the dishy plumbers round then LOL. Hopefully it'll all be sorted in the morning.
I remember the cut out dolls with the outfits and accessories. I too spent hours playing with them, I think when I played with them they came in a book and you cut it all out. I never had a Barbie or Cindy doll. My nan sold them on her market stall and I used to help her sell them when I was younger, so I played with them then, although I wasn't really suppose to LOL. So I didn't really need one of my own. My nan used to knit dolls clothes to, but I can't remember if they were for the dolls she sold or for her grandchildren's dolls, it was a very long time ago :-D :-D I also remember the card board sweet shop, and post office. Funny how you forget things over the years, but it all comes back to you once someone mentions it.
Going to bed myself soon. OH is starting to get tired and is up early for work in the morning, I'll watch a bit of TV as I'm not tired yet.

Welcome Iris to the thread. Hope you stay with us silly lot. Yes I member th epost office and the sweet shop with ittle glass jars full on tiny sweets, little scales and paper bags. I loved the stamp in the post office but dad would always have to make it wet again for me because I used it so much.
Your little dog sounds a reall terror jumping out of the pram and attacking another dog. I used to dress my cat up in my old baby clothes . My dad made me a rocking horse one Christmas and I loved it but really wanted one of those with the big rockers on. Mine was a rectangular box with a leg at each corner a shaped head with handles through it and a hemp mane and tail. It was painted white and mum had covered the seat bit in plum coloured felt.
Well I am signing out now so see you all in the morning.
Night night sleep tight.

Morning all and evening Kim,
Another dull and dreary day here again. I don't think we are going to have any summer this year at all.
Gill oh has'nt ordered the pond liner yet just the above ground swimming pool to put the fish in. He is also going to make the pond a foot deeper for them by raising the sides so not a day job, more like a month. The fish have grown so much this last year he thinks they will need another foot depth for the winter I think at the moment it is 3 and a half feet deep.
He has to take all the decking up around the pond too.
Is Iris out there today?
