Morning All,
The flowers have opened a bit more today Frank and do look very nice.
Sun's shining here and I could do with doing more washing but the boiler man has stacked his tools and toolboxes in front of the washer so there's no chance.
What a performance having a wash is compared with showering. :-S OH managed to jam the pop up plug in the sink and had to screw it off in the end and with great difficulty, but the water only trickles away!! Various pokings and proddings didn't fix it, so when the boiler man said he would be done earlier than he thought I asked him if he would look at it!! :-) He tried more poking and prodding and applying of pliers which made it pop up again, but it still jams when it's pushed down. It's awkward to get at with being one of those fitted in a cupboard as well. Looks like he might be coming back another day to fit another for us.
After the boiler man arrived, OH and I had an early brekkie together at the little cafe in the Top*s Tiles building down the road before he set off. One side of the main road is the retail park and the other side has new big office blocks and call centres around the lake and a carvery pub and the tile place and cafe. It opens nice and early, about 7.00am, to cater for the office staff on their way to work. I haven't heard from OH yet and he plans to drive to his mum's house at lunchtime to collect the last of the post before the redirection starts and to look for more of their paperwork to bring back here after he's visited her again this afternoon. He said they'd moved her off the ward to a side room on her own now. It's more boring for him but more peaceful for his mum.
I have some paperwork to do for OH now and then a walk up the road to the post box.
I'm mired out with tomatoes and beans too now Jane, so may make a very similar version but with onions added!! It is very tasty as you say. I notice all the cats on the 'My Cat From Hell' prog love the feather toy that Thomas likes!! Well, at least one of the dresses you got for Jess is ok.
I came across a lot of those leggy spiders when I was cleaning the other day too Mel. It must be 'their' time of the year! Have regular breaks to save your back! It's good your OH is so careful with moving those big fish. I know if you slightly damage them fungal infections can set in and his must be quite valuable the size they must be now.
Better get on now........

Glad to see the flowers are opening. I know the ones I bought Ros seemed to last well over a week. Did you follow the instructions ?? I had never heard of putting Rose stems in boiling water. I bet it gives them a right old SHOCK :-D :-D :-D
Well front lawn cut, I will trim the edges later,. and I had my bacon sarnie., I can hear the washing machine going. I have just put the line and props away from yesterday, so it looks like that was a waste of time.
Ann, have you tried cleaning the "U or S " bend in the basin. It might be bunged up with hair. Just a thought. :-D :-D :-D
It's not cold outside today, but looks like we could get more rain. Plenty of black clouds. :-( :-( :-(

Well that's the painting finished, I can now start to tidy the room. It'll be nice to see the carpet again after I take all the dust sheets up LOL but then I'll have all the hovering to do :-( and I thought I had nothing to do today :-D :-D.
Sorry to hear you had another bad night again last night Frank. Is there anything the doctor can do to help, didn't you say you have an appointment with him today?
How did the meeting go with the builder Pat? Have they given you any idea when it'll all be finished yet? Hope it's all done by the time the winter sets in so you can be settled in time for Christmas.
It sounds like your OH is going to be busy today Ann with all that running around. Nice to hear your flowers are starting to come out. I didn't know you had to put roses in boiling water first. Like Frank said "What a shock" that'll be for them, but if it works... I was going to say check your U bend, but Frank got in there first ;-)
Does your OH have a book he could take to the hospital, it'll be very quiet in the side room and didn't you say MIL was sleeping a lot now? It'll give him something to do in between MIL's naps.
How are you getting on with your FISH Mel? Hope the weather stays dry for you both. It's still lovely and sunny here so I'm busy doing loads of washing. I'm on the last load of bedding so that'll go outside soon as it sounds like the washing machine is on it's last spin.
I feel quite light headed at the moment with all the paint fumes but at least it's all finished now which will please OH when he gets in from work later. I'm hoping to have the furniture back in there too, apart from the one really heavy chest of draws that took Sandra and I ages to move, I'll ask OH to help me move that later, it won't take the two of us to long to do as we can pick it up between us, where as Sandra had problems lifting it so we had to drag it out of the room and don't fancy having to drag it back again
Well, I was right, it was the last spin on the washing machine, so I'd better go and peg it all out now BBL

Well I am all shower and shaved ready to go to the Drs. for my MOT. at 3.20 pm
Ros is busy on the patio. and the cat is sitting at the conservatory door, wanting to go out to her !! NO CHANCE MATE.
Where do you find all this washing from Gill. Are you sure you are not taking in washing from neighbours. :-( :-( :-( It's not just the washing it's all the ironing. Do you get a lot from Sandra ???
Ann a nice and quiet room must be nice for MIL, but as for Gordon. BORING with no one to say a word to, and pass the time of day.
I'm ready for 40 winks, but dare not do it now. Might get Ros to take me round to the doctors, as I don't feel that good on my feet at the moment.
I think I have time for a COT before going out. see you later.

Hello Frank, fancy seeing you there LOL
All the washing is towels at the moment, I ran out of dust sheets so had to use loads and loads of towels which are now being washed. There are about 5 loads. If I put to many in one load it doesn't spin properly with all the weight so I have to split them into smaller loads. As for all the other washing, it's mostly OH's and Sandra's. Sandra wears lots of layers of clothes even in the summer and then there is OH's uniform which needs doing everyday, he only has two lots so I have to keep on top of them so he always has a clean set. Then of course all the bedding, so there's always something to wash and the washing machine is on most days. I'm just glad it's the 21st century and I don't have to go down the stream and wash them using rocks LOL :-D :-D :-D.
I'm just having 5 minutes, OH got a bit of paint on the light fitting on the ceiling and I'm a SHORTY GEORGE (another one of mum's sayings) so I couldn't reach it properly to clean it. I had to ask Sandra to stand near the bed so I could lean on her to keep my balance on the bed. Moving the bed would of took an age because it's so heavy. It's all done now but my neck is a bit achy which is why I'm having a few mintues to get the feeling back.
The room has been hovered and polished and the curtains are back up so it's just the furniture to put back and the bed to make. All the bedding has been washed and ironed so that's another job out of the way. I love being busy and really enjoy it. I'm not one for sitting around doing nothing I get bored to easily. I've even made two cakes and plan on making an apple pie if I get the time later. I've got my music on so I'm a HAPPY BUNNY :-D
Good luck at the doctors and don't forget to tell him EVERYTHING please <3
See you all later

Well I have seen the new Lady Doctor. Not only is she pretty, she is very easy to talk to. I have told her more in 20 minutes than I have told any other Doctors in 10 years She want's me back next Thursday at the same time. I am going to have my MOT with the nurse before seeing the doctor on the same day. Now I see I have my injection 4 days later, so I will try to get that done next Thursday to save another trip. I have a questionnaire to complete before next week. From what she says, she would like me to get some counselling which we will talk more about next week.
No cooking again tonight as Ros is doing a stir fry. I will soon forget how to cook !!!
Had an email from an old school friend in Australia. They have been cut off with floods for three days, and had to have her OH medicines bought in by boat. So what have we to complain about ;-) ;-) ;-)
Had another shower as I came out of the doctors, so it was a good job Madam took me and was waiting to bring me home. We now have brilliant sunshine <3 <3 <3

Glad to hear things went well at the doctors Frank. I think the counselling will help you a lot. I had to have counselling years ago when I was a victim of a crime and they were brilliant.
Well, the bedroom is finally finished, along with the front bedroom too. All I need to do now is hoover and polish the rest of the bungalow, then I'm going to have a nice hot bath, I ache all over, especially my neck. Sandra and I managed to move the heavy chest of draws and it didn't seem as heavy this time round, so we got it moved quite quickly :-)
I don't think I'll be making the apple pie today, I'm starting to get tired and need to sort dinner out soon. Wish I had someone to do the cooking for me Frank ;-)
Where about in Australia does your friend live, I have an old school friend who lives in Ballarat Victoria. She didn't mention any floods in her last email, although that was a while ago now, so things may of changed since then. It sounds as if it's pretty bad. Hope everyone is ok.
Well, I'd better go and finish off the cleaning. I didn't realise how late it was. OH should be pleased having the rooms back the way they were and everywhere clean and tidy when he gets in later. Although it'll probably back to being messy again at the weekend when we start on the dining room :-S
See you all later

No washing out here today. We have had some really heavy showers this afternoon ,and Chris had planned to mow the lawn. Now we have a clear blue sky !!!
Gill is all go at yours still I see :-D..My Sister is very much like you as when she sets her mind to getting something done like decorating she doesn't stop until the job is complete. She might decide one day to do a bedroom and by the next day it is done !!!!
Pat is seems things are moving on then if you are having meetings with Electricians and Plumbers now :-D.You said it feels chilly down there today.I feel chilly here too,and I can't think of the last time I felt cold.
Ann I am thinking that MIL has been moved to a side room now because the end might not be too far off now and it will be much more private for OH.I think we all hoping and praying it won't be long.
We have one of those pop up plugs in the sink in the main bathroom.I have to say I am not a fan of them .I much prefer the ones with a lever thing to lower and raise them. I often chuck a bottle of drain stuff down (especially after jess has been here) as she has very long and wiry hair and I am always clearing it from various plug holes :-S
Frank was the beeping from the phone because it hadn't been put back properly on the stand?I have had that before and it takes ages to work out where the noise is coming from lol
Gill I emailed Hannah a pic of the top I bought Jess to see if she would like it.But she reckons that I should keep it for Jess.So I haven't been back to TK M** yet.It is just the one dress to go back now :-D I bought a Selfie Stick this morning at the place I got the cats's toy.Chris thought I was 'barking' lol.So I will ask james if Jess has one.If not that will be another pressy :-D I also bought myself in Tes** an electric Toothbrush (half price). Both James and Chris have one so I thought it was time I had one too).I know our Dentist is always saying they are better than the bog standard toothbrush.it is charging up at the moment.
My Beans in Tomato and Garlic plus lots of herbs are cooking away at the moment.Oh boy it does smell so good (but very garlicky). This afternoon I have been doing some more colouring But have made a bit of a pigs ear of it :-S.So have given that up as a bad job.
I am looking forward to Who do you think you are tonight.Derek Jacobi.(is it Derek?)I do like him. Ann I will try and watch the Children on Benefits on Catch up.I don't know how I missed that programme.
Mel the fish will love their new deep pond :-D
My Neice and family now have a new member of the family....A 12 week old French Bull Terrier :-D..I think they have called him Bentley. She put a pic of him up on her FB and he looks so sweet. She also put such a lovely message up thanking my Sister and Larry for being there to help when Bo was killed and taking in Zac their other dog when they went away. Also saying how lovely it was to come home to find everything cleaned up and lots of flowers and bowls of wine gums LOL
Oh Oh we have a situation.Thomas is on the top of the Summerhouse roof looking like he might go over into next door....They have a big Alsatian !!!! Chris has been trying to entice him down with his new fishing rod toy with feathers.......Thomas caught it and had broken it :-S :-S :-S.(Good job I bought 2)..
He's down now after Chris got the steps and grabbed him :-D

Hi everybody,
The prodigal Octogenarian returns at long last. First news up is that Mel's re-posted package turned up here today, for which many thanks (did leave you a message Mel). The ironic thing is that I was working out in the back garden on 'Le Shed' and the postie actually was able to put it through the letter box! Why the heck didn't they do that before and save us all this trouble and worry? Mind you, the post here was delivered at 3.15 a couple of days last week - what next? Night shift??
Sorry, I haven't been on but Carmel hasn't been at all well with one thing and another, which meant a lot of sleepless nights for her. She was so poorly she was in bed for a lot of the time and only went out last Friday for a while with me, and that was just for essentials. Today we have both been to our doctor, Carmel for the results of the MRI scan on her knees. He said that there was a lot of (technical stuff) wear and tear but that the ligaments were in good order, which was a plus. What to do consisted of the extreme, a knee replacement - or otherwise pain relief medication, which she is already on a lot of for various problems. She is not keen on the surgery option so we have time to think what to do in the long run. I also had to see him as since my 80th birthday (you might know it) I have been suffering a lot with severe pain in my left knee. I suspected it would be arthritis, which he also thinks, but I'm to go along and have an Xray just to confirm that is nothing sinister. I've had arthritis in various bits for a while now but nothing has been as painful as this. Yesterday, we went to visit daughter Dorothy for a while and who should arrive but Sarah with little Grace - not so little any more! She starts nursery school in September and even has a little pinafore uniform, can't believe it. She and I engaged in a game of hide and seek for starters and finished up out in the garden blowing bubbles and riding on scooters - yes, me on a kids scooter. I think I'm 80 going on 8 :-D must email out the selfie I took with Grace's pink bonnet on as we played 'yeehaaa', cowboys. It was a lovely time for me as we haven't seen a lot of her lately, what with things going on in the family and Carmel not being well. Luckily for us yesterday, the sun came out and the temperature got very warm, and yet I understand down in the south there were torrential rainstorms. I've been doing a bit of trading on-line and managed to get myself the long promised North Weald London Country bus that I travelled on when in the RAF in the '50's. Another one I've got, which I didn't know existed until I did a bit of research - and that's the earlier London Transport Green Line bus route 721, which was our local route when I lived in Chadwell Heath. Yesterday I accidentally found on-line a firm that does cardboard models of allsorts, houses, shops, cinemas and bus garages, etc etc. They have the Odeon Cinema, Chadwell Heath and also the bus depot at Seven Kings among a lot of local stuff. I've order those two for nostalgia sake, you have to make them up from a kit of course but it will be a nice winter project and make a nice back drop for my local buses. I can't think what else to go into except the lack of good programmes on TV lately. At least last night we had the bake off and tonight we have W D Y T Y A, David Jacobi, should be interesting. I'm going to back track through the threads for a bit to see what I've been missing. T T F N

Sorry to hear Carmel hasn't been very well lately William. Hope she feels a little better soon and can sleep at night again. I can imagine what you must of looked like in the bonnet playing yeehaa cowboys. It sounds like you both had a lot of fun. Glad to hear you finally got your present. What was it, I think we'd all like to know? I bet you were so chuffed to find the model kits and will have hours of fun making them in the long winter evenings.
It sounds like Chris has had fun trying to get Thomas of the summerhouse roof Jane, good job he didn't go into next door. Mind you being the hunter he is, he'd of probably given the dog a run for his money no doubt :-D :-D
Well, everything is done and dusted here now, so I'm off for a long soak in a hot bath before starting dinner. My neck is so sore, hope the soak helps. I'll definitely sleep tonight, me thinks.
At least all the washing is dry now, it's been sunshine all day :-D

Forgot to say. While at the Doctors I bumped into an old fried from the village. He was and still is a bit of a P taker.
I asked if I had dyed my hair and had I had BOTOX. When I asked about his Mum who is 93. He said don't ask. I have to do everything for her. He went on to say, he told her I don't mind what I do for you, but I don't want to see where I came from !!!!:-D :-D He had me in stitches, he said one day she was standing against the bed when she toppled backwards. Her legs went in the air and her legs flew open and there was a large tissue covering you know what. :-D :-D :-D I was almost in tears of laughter when I left him. Ros said he was telling her tales of his Mum while I was in with the doctor.
Ros has spoken with Harvey. He is 49 today. They are going out to a FISH Restaurant tonight. Lewis is looking forward to it, also looking forward to coming home and seeing us.
Ros is taking the cat back Monday afternoon and staying for a meal with them Monday evening (I haven't been invited yet again) I will eat at the pub while I watch Football. so I don't mind.

Well that sounds excellent Frank. You will be finding reasons to see this pretty doctor now! ;-) I think the counselling could be very good for you so I would give it a try. I had counselling years ago and didn't see how it could help at the time but it did. How sad the kitty will soon be going home, you will miss her! Your friend sounds a right giggle with tales of his mum.
Gill, you have so much energy. You must be pleased to be getting all these jobs done and things all straight again. I am shattered just from cleaning up after the boiler man! Mind you I've never had a workman make so many marks and scuffs on everything and the floor needed washing after I'd swept it. I can't reach the marks high up at the back of the fridge freezer so OH can do those. I've washed the bathroom sink cupboard out as well and put everything back in there. Then there was mess and dust in the en suite as our water turns off in there. Still I'm not grumbling really, he found a new, non pop up sink waste on his van and has fitted it for us, so that's another problem solved! :-) What next I wonder!:-S Jane I prefer those lever ones too.
Looking forward to seeing you in your bonnet William! Sorry to hear you have a painful knee and that Carmel has been unwell. No doubt little Grace gave you a pick me up.
We are both going to bed soon as OH is shattered too and finding the days exhausting now. He still can't find his parents birth and marriage certs at their house, even though he found his great grandmother's birth cert. Goodness knows where MIL has put them as they aren't where she told him when she was able.

Frank .I know some people poo poo the idea of counselling .BUT it can be the best thing to do.When my best friend died and I was all mixed up in my head because I was so angry with her husband and having to cope with Rachel and her Brother.Chris made me go for counselling and it was the best thing I could have done. I have never looked back....Well I can look back ,but no longer feel the anger and sadness.
Crikey that was a bit too much info from your friend about his Mum and nether region :-0 You are going to miss Puss when she goes....Do you want Thomas???.He is out on the prowl now after the Summerhouse thing.I just hope he comes back soon as I want to be ready for bed by 9 to see WDYTYA

Went to Holsworthy and spent an awful lot of money.................................in the electrical shop. I bought a new washing machine £699!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Its a Meile or something like that and oh has seen these ones working and spinning and they make hardly any noise at all. So I thought why not........... It also takes another 2kg load more than the one I have now. I can only get about 7 things in the one I have. Anyway I told them about the trouble with the Dys*n and they are going to take it in the shop and get their enineer ajent or something to take a look at it and check it over. They will pick it up on Tuesday when they deliver and fit the washing machine.
Just going to do the hogs and chickens as its getting dark.

Evening all,
It's been a nice day here just a few spots of rain this morning ,just after i had hung washing out but it didn't last long and i got the washing dry .
Family were here for tea tonight and as today was the day the hairdresser came to cut my hair DIL and the girls all had there hair trimmed too ,the children go back to school next week , they start back on Friday !! seems a bit daft to me going back for the one day !!
Gosh Gill where do you get your energy from :-D you should sleep like a log tonight :-D
Frank that was a lovely thing to do sending the flowers to Ann and OH ,they sounded so pretty . I'am glad you got on well at the doctors and the counselling sounds a good idea .
Oh Jane i'd love to see the new puppy ,they will never forget poor Bo but the new puppy should help to ease the sadness at losing him . I bet your Thomas would give that Alsatian a run for his money :-D
Poor Chelsea cut her toe this evening ,right on the end bit of her big toe ,she had a big flap of skin that she had pulled up and it bled quite a bit ,she will jump about out side with nothing on her feet ,we told her to put her flip flops on but will she listen no ,so she went home with a big plaster on her toe .
Just a reminder to say Ancestry is free to search the next four days over the holiday weekend .

Done it and now it is dark.
I'm pleased you had a good talk to the doc Frank and I advise you to take up the offer of counceling as it will do you good.
Gill now you are all clean and tidy again you can start on your needlework again after the dining room is all done. You won't recognise the place.
Ann dos'nt MIL have a telly in her room? Mum did when she had her hysto and was in a single room. Could'nt Gordon watch a bit of that while MIL naps. I wonder where she has put those docs G is looking for? Mum had a metal filing box she put things like that in.
I am wacked out tonight so think I shalkl watch WDYTYA and go to bed as oh has gone already.
Night night.
O just to let you all know Williams pressy was a Corgi toy London Routmaster bus from many years ago. Either it was my sons or something I found in the jumble given for the bell fund. It was'nt in bad nick and perhaps William will send us a pic of it.

Well, I have started a new book, You must remember "CHICKEN GEORGE" Etc in the T.V. series I have it on my Kindle and for the life of me can't remember the title.
Television has been two hours of SOAPS, and now there is Stephen Fry. Who I can't stand. So I have been on ebay. I have bought some "L" plates and the highway code for Lewis, to go with a car I hope to buy him for his 17th Birthday next month. I have put out a few "FEELERS" to my contacts that are still in the trade, so just waiting to see what comes up.
That was a nice thought Mel, Knowing how interested Will. is on that type of thing.
Jane I would have Thomas, but Ros suffers with her breathing, and is having to use her inhaler with the cat being here, I am sure Thomas will have more hair than this one. !!! so it has to be a NO NO. ;-) ;-) ;-) anyway you wouldn't part with him now. It's strange that he hasn't meet next doors dog. That will be an experience for him ;-) ;-) ;-) ;-)
Gill you have made me so tired with all this talk of cleaning, I think I will have to go to bed. I am tired with only a few hours sleep again last night.
Thanks for all the support about the doctors. I am sure with all my pasted memories and upsets, it might do me good, I can only try and see.
See you in the morning NIGHT NIGHT>

I didn't know Ancestry was opening their records over the bank holiday weekend, thanks for letting us know Mandy. Poor Chelsea.... that's the problem if you run around with nothing on your feet, hope it heals soon and isn't to painful for her <3
I haven't watched any soaps this evening Frank, I was to busy, so recorded them all. Sandra and I will watch them together tomorrow. Sandra is watching Big Brother at the moment, they are putting the UK against the USA so that should be interesting for her to watch. I'm not that keen on the celeb one, I don't think it's on for long, about a couple of weeks I think :-S. She's also going to watch the bit on the side show about big brother which is on straight after it. So that's 3 hours of Big Brother.
I'm absolutely shattered but still have a bit more washing to do with having a bath earlier, so I'm busy doing that while Sandra watches the TV. OH has just told me that because I used the stain block paint it might dry with a shine on it so will probably need another coat of emulsion, I hope it doesn't need yet more paint but if it does I'll just go over the bits I did today, that way I won't have to empty the room again as it was only a few bits around the outside near the walls. I know where I painted and OH has to work every day apart from Monday next week so will be to busy to do it anyway. He has just took the dining room table down which is now on the double bed in the spare room.
I'll empty the rest of the dining room tomorrow so it's ready for OH to take the wall paper off the ceiling in there on Saturday as that is he's only other day off till he has his 2 weeks holiday starting the 7th September. So just as I got rid of all the dust it'll all be back again in a couple of days :-(. We still have the kitchen, bathroom, living room and Sandra's bedroom to do so we're going to be busy for some time yet. I think OH is planning on doing the living room and Sandra's bedroom after Michelle has been for her visit.
What a lovely present Frank.....a car for Lewis, he'll be made up with it :-)
So the present for William was a toy bus Mel? He'll love that <3 Yes it would be nice to see a pic of it....Not sure he has my email address though.
It sounds like you've been busy with cleaning as well today Ann. That's the problem with some workmen, they leave such a mess, it's not very often you get one who cleans up after himself, but at least the job is done now and your sink is done too, which was lucky with him having the part you needed on the van.
Well, I'd better get back to this washing, Sandra's programme is over in 45 minutes then I can go to bed. I'm signing out now, see you all in the morning. NIght NIght
