Ann ,What a relief for you both now .MIL is at last at peace .It must be a bit of a pain with it being BH and not being able to register her death etc etc.But it will give you both a little breathing space which is good as there will be so much to organise in the coming days.

Sorry to heat the news Ann and Gordon, but it is the best thing for you all. <3 <3 <3 Will be thinking of you both at this most upsetting time.

I had a BIG SURPRISE this afternoon. When I came back from the pub Jan's car was outside the house. I came in and called "where are you" in the bedroom with the baby. As I went in, who should be behind the door. CONRAD. He had been home from Spain since last Friday week. We spoke to him on Friday, and he didn't tell us he was home. He wanted to surprise us. When Jan arrived lunchtime she said to Ros give me a hand with the babies stuff. When she went to the car Conrad was hiding behind it.

They are coming to dinner tomorrow before setting off to Devon. At least they will be going in the opposite direction to most of the traffic.

John is picking us up at 7.15 pm for our meal out at Jean's so had better sort myself out. I am all showered and shaved and dressed, just got to put my shoes on.

Evening all,

MIL is at peace now Ann , you can both have a couple of days rest now ,there will be lots to sort out in the days to come so just have some together time now,thinking of you both <3 <3 <3 <3

Pool has been dried out and packed away ,we both feel worn out as it's quite a job .

How are the fish now Mel ? i hope they have recovered .

Jane that's another lovely photo of Bentley ,his ears don't look as big on that photo, i like the white stripe he has on his head and it goes right under his body .
Hubby had to go and see a couple this morning and they have given a 10 year old golden retriever a home as her owner had died ,there where two of them but one dog had gone to another home which was a shame as the couple said they would have had both of them which would have kept them together , hubby was really taken with her he said he could have easily brought her home with him , don't know what Toby would have thought of that !! :-D

Fiona your decking looks nice ,it's a lovely place to sit out and have your coffee and the perfect place for Sofia to do her dancing . :-)

We have lots of black clouds about ,don't think it will be long before we get rain !!

Mandy how sad that the dogs had to be separated :-(.That is such a shame.
So pool gone now for another year.This summer seeems to have gone so quickly.
Mind you sometimes September can be quite hot :-D.Here's hoping.
I will be away for nearly half of it in temps probably far to hot for my liking.Just over a couple of weeks now :-D

Fiona the decking looks great and I can just see Sophia doing her dances on the STAGE. She will think its great. I love the sunburst fence and the trellis. A nice private spot to sit and relax.

Iv'e just been and had a look at the fish and they look quite happy tonight and are all swiming around together. We have put a tarp over the middle of the pool to give them some shade and cover.

been up the border this afternoon digging out running buttercups. I can actually see some earth up the end now which I hav'nt seen all year. I just need to get a bit more colour up that end now with some bunny rabbits and dianthus. I have some so will put them in tomorrow.

By the way WHAT SUMMER we hav'nt really had any here. :-| :-| :-| <3

Sorry to hear about your MIL Ann, at least she's at peace now. You and Gordon can spend a few relaxing days together, with you not being able to do much until after the bank holiday weekend. It'll do you both good to relax for a while. My thoughts are with you both <3

Glad to hear you have exchanged contracts now Pat. Shame about the builder though, fancy only working on a weekend, don't suppose they'll be working this weekend with it being bank holiday. Have they given you any idea of when it will all be finished yet?

OH is still painting, he's just finishing off another coat on the ceiling and said he would start the walls next, but I've manage to persuade him to leave the walls as he has to be up for work at 6.30am and he wants a bath before he goes to bed. Luckily he agreed. He's been working hard all day, I did help a bit but can't reach the ceiling properly, so I just put all the rubbish into bags and took them out to the bins. There are a few places that need a bit of filling at the edges so I'll do them tomorrow for him.

This ceiling is the same as the last one and hasn't been painted, so it's going to take a few coats of paint. It's easier to see where it needs filling after a couple of coats of paint and then he continues to do the rest of the coats of paint once the filler has dried. He's not off work again until Thursday so the filler will definitely be dry by then and if my back stops hurting I can paint the walls for him, or do some of the glossing on the skirting boards and window sill. We need to have the room finished before Michelle gets here as all the furniture is in the spare bedroom.

Just off to run OH a bath now as he's just finished. Then we're off to bed so I'll say goodnight and see everyone tomorrow <3

Morning all

Another sunny day here today, although there are a few more clouds about, so we may get some rain later.

Well, OH's at work so it's my turn to do some painting in the dining room. I'm going to do some filling on the ceiling first, then make a start on the gloss painting of the skirting boards and window sill, OH said he'd do the door and the loft hatch when he gets in from work later. I forgot OH was off work again tomorrow so hopefully the room will be finished, then we can put all the furniture back in there and make a start on the living room. Luckily there's no wallpaper on that ceiling so it's just a point of emptying the room and giving it all a few coats of paint. That just leaves Sandra's bedroom, the bathroom and the kitchen left to do.

Oh woke me up at 25 past 11. I am sitting here with my first cuppa...........

Guess what????????????????????????????????It's pi**ling with rain here and just before the dog show too and all the work oh has done on the top field. He even hired a roller machine to give it a good flatten out and mowed it umpteen times and then rolled it with our friends field roller towed with the mower. Iff its really wet all day they won't be able to use the field as it was a bit spongy when I went up to ppick the brimbles the other day.

Sorry to hear the weather isn't very good Mel and after all your OH's hard work. Hope it brightens up. What time do the dogs go on the field?

I've done all the filling on the ceiling and also put some stain block on as there was some water stains on there too. I'm beginning to think it might be the glue the previous people used to put the wallpaper up rather than a leak from the roof. I've also put a bit of stain block on the knots on the skirting board. OH put some knot sealer on it last night and it dried brown so I thought I'd go over it with the stain block paint before painting the skirting boards properly. I won't be able to paint the skirting boards until tomorrow now, as it takes hours for the stain block paint to dry. My back is starting to ache again, I think I've pulled a muscle moving all the furniture, so I'm not sure how much more I can do in the dining room today.

I'm just putting the roast on and then I'll see how I feel after Sandra and I have eaten.

Afternoon All,

Showers here this morning, and with me in the kitchen all morning I am sweating like a pig. I have just come out of the shower. !!

Last night was nice but not as nice as it could have been. Jean is an excellent cook, when we arrived last night there was a beautiful smell of food cooking. Sitting on the unit was what I thought was a BEEF WELLINGTON and my mouth started to water :-D :-D It turned out to be a SALMON EN CRUTE (sp) Ros hates fish, especially Salmon I can take it or leave it. She has always cooked meat in the passed. I think J & C and her deceased husbands brother and his wife weren't over impressed.

To cap it all, her BIL came in a pair of shorts and trainers, he looked so out of place, with both John & I on trousers and shirts. No dress sense or CODE.

Jeans house is a HUGH 4 double bedrooms all on suite, Library, Lounge, Dining room Kitchen. Indoor swimming pool, with electric cover. The water was 83 degrees. Sauna utility room. Nearly all the downstairs rooms I Could fit my BUNGALOW in to. Outside you drive down a private road through big electric gates, into the courtyard There are two massive lawns with flower beds beyond that there are the garages and parking for 20 plus cars. AND behind that a Field with a stream flowing through. Both her husbands were very successful business men. So she isn't short of a few Bob. I know where to go if I get thrown out by Ros :-D :-D :-D :-D

Did you have a good night last nigh Ann. It will hard for Gordon not being able to tell his Father. That's s job for a later date <3 <3 <3 You both have my thoughts with you. PLEASE try to relax for a few days, before all the clearing out begins.

Mel, That's not good for the dog show. Has the rain subsided ??? Lets hope the sun shines for you this afternoon.

I see the south and east are in for a very wet weekend with a months rain in the next 24 hours. So the forecasters say. But when are they right.

Fiona I hope you get a few days that you can sit out on your decking, before the winter arrives. It will be a right little sun trap by the looks of it.

I see summer is over for you Mandy. When do the children go back to School ?? It's just a well the pool is all put away, as I don't think we will get an "INDIAN" Summer this year, even though we can hope for a nice Sept/Oct.. Which I had for my Wedding in 1959. I was swimming in the sea in Jersey during October.

I see the decoration is in full swing Gill. I bet your OH will be glad to go to work for a rest ;-) ;-) ;-)

I am expecting Conrad and Jan around two o/clock we will eat around 3.00 pm. Everything is going to order.

Clouded up here now but we have had the sun this morning .

Family came this morning and the children had their roller skates out ,my heart is in my mouth watching them in case they fall over ,their legs seem to go in all directions !!

I have sent a video of Lewis ,son had to do it for me as it was taken on my tablet and i couldn't sent it from there for some reason any way i think son has sorted it so i hope you all get it ok.

Oh i see the one for Liz has not gone through ,sorry Liz i have tried twice and it doesn't seem to want to go .

Not a lot happening here today we're having a lazy day .

What a shame it's raining Mel and after all the hard work OH has been doing on the field too ,lets hope it's only showery so they can have the show .

Another busy day of painting for you then Gill ,sounds as if your poor back has had enough ,stretching up to do ceilings is a really back aching job .

Shame it was the fish last night instead of the meat you were looking forward too Frank but i bet you make up for it today with one of your nice roasts with all the trimmings.

Not sure what we will have tonight i think it will be some easy from the freezer .

Frank your friends place sounds massive. Did Ros eat the salmon? I remember my OH eating salmon just to be polite once, he hates it, but it would of been rude not to eat food someone else had gone to the trouble of making, so he ate it and said nothing. I, on the other hand will eat almost anything. The only thing I really don't like is liver...YUK

OH and I share the decorating, he paints the ceilings because they are so high and I'm not very confident on ladders. I do all the wallpapering, OH tried to paper once while I was out, to be helpful, but unfortunately he put all the pieces on upside down so has never bothered since. :-D. I've just finished painting the window sill and have already filled the ceiling and put some stain block on there and the skirting boards too. I have a quick drying gloss paint so can do a second coat before OH gets in from work if it needs it, but by the looks of it I think one coat will be enough......will have to wait for it to dry then check it again to be certain.

I noticed the weather forecast for the south and east areas to Frank, that's a lot of rain and there is a yellow warning out for possible flooding.
Hope the weather has improved where you are Mel, so the dogs can use the field

Going to dish up now, I've starving

I can't open it Mandy it said there was an error and I got a picture of a opened box with a plaster on it!! I had to wait ages too before I got that.

It has stopped raining but there is still a little moisture in the air and the skies are grey........... :-( :-( :-(

If it's stopped raining does that mean the field can be used for the dogs Mel?

Just finished eating and I've checked the painting I did and it doesn't need another coat of paint, so there's nothing more I can do for now, I just have to wait for the stain block paint to dry then I can paint the skirting boards. OH is doing the door, loft hatch and picture frame later when he gets in. Hopefully all the filler will be dry by tomorrow so between OH and I we should have the room finished tomorrow and ready to put all the furniture back in :-)

Going to do the dishes now. I don't have a dishwasher :-(

Frank what a day you had then yesterday !! First the surprise visit from Conrad and then out to dinner at yet another massive house..Shame about the Salmon enCroute though.I hope you didn't look to gutted when you realised it wasnt the Beef Wellington you were hoping for :-D..I am afraid I would not have enjoyed it either.I am not a fan of Salmon.

Yes I hope today that Ann and OH have been able to relax a little.It will probably just be sinking in now for Gordon and he will be feeling exhausted and totally drained.

Hannah has arrived in Ostuni ,Italy and James has just text to say he and Jess are going to Berlin on the 13th for a few nights.I bet the girls will be relaxing and soaking up a bit of sunshine right now,maybe with a glass or 2 of Prosecco .

Lamb Kleftico for us tonight .Not sure whether to have rice or potato ,then of course it will be BEANS,Asparagus and Peas.

I think I need to put a light on as it is so dark.
