I have just googled Ostuni in Italy where Hannah and the girls are..Oh my word it looks beautiful .A beautiful ancient hillside city with all white buildings over looking the Adriatic and Olive Groves..I want to go :-D I have never heard of the place.

Thats good the paint is dry now Gill and needs no more coats :-D.You say you don't have a dishwasher. We didn't have one for years .But since having one I now can't imagine not having one LOL.I still like to wash up certain things though, but then find after I have put them on the drainer Chris comes along and still puts them in the machine :-S.It used to be a dual job.One would wash and one would dry and then it was who would put away :-D..I always preferred the washing up to the drying.

The rain seems to be easing up now :-DThomas has been on one of the dining chairs for hours. He has the hump after me doing the flea spot on :-S

Frank ,I bet you all have full tums now after your meal.Bet it all went down a treat :-D

What a pity the weather has been a right wash out for this B H weekend. There must have been lots of events planned.

I went to my Garden Shop this morning to buy my Bird food and the chap who owns it was saying that yesterday he had so many people buying up bags of logs and he sold out completely!!!!.I wonder why that was as it isn't really cold enough to be having fires yet.He also said he spotted 2 Gypsy/Travellers stealling 2 Gas Bottles on his CCTV.Cheeky beggars just picked them up and put them in the back of their van !!!
He was lucky enough when he confronted them to get them back.He says it is a regular thing :-S

ost places have gas bottles in lock up cages. Were they empties or full?

I would'nt have liked the salmon dish either as I hate fresh salmon. Did Ros eat any or just the veg?

Dog show is tomorrow if its raining and they can't use the field they ahve it in the village hall.

Oh bother i'll have to get son to have another go at the video ,i know he had to condense it down before he could send it and some thing about zipping it :-S way over my head :-S

I'am not keen on Salmon fresh or tinned i'd rather have a tin of tuna .

Cheeky devils loading up the gas bottles ,i thought they chained them up so people carn't help themselves .
Oh i wonder why people re stocking up on the logs!! perhaps they know something we don't !!
I'll have a google for Ostuni now .

Nasty here now ,been drizzling since about half three and we have the lamps on too as it's so dark !!

Let's hope it's not raining Mel, then the dogs can use your field :-) :-)

Some people are so cheeky aren't they Jane, I can't believe they just picked them up and put them in their van, at least the shop owner got them back. Good job he checked his CCTV

Sorry to hear you've lost yet another post Frank. Better luck next time :-D

I wonder how Ann and Gordon are today :-S I've been thinking about them all day <3

Sandra is listening to her music, my back isn't as achy now so I'm going to make a start on some more painting, I thought I'd do the gloss painting on the picture frames around the room. I'd rather leave the skirting boards to my OH as he's better at them than me and I wouldn't want to get any paint on the carpets. I'm sure he won't mind. He's a lot quicker than I am so it won't take him long. Luckily the painting I've done so far is all finished and doesn't require another coat of paint :-)

I do the washing and drying of the dishes Jane as there isn't anyone here to do it for me. To be fair there isn't much with it only being Sandra and I most of the time.

Well, I'd better get on with some more painting now

Keep trying Frank ,you will get there :-D :-D

Mel they were full bottles of gas.No I don't think they are locked up.Maybe he should make sure they are .
I said the same thing Mandy about the logs."Do they know something we don't" lol
I hope they don't have to have the dog show in the Village Hall Mel.It won't be the same as outside .

Just spoke to my Sister and she has her Youngest Son and his girlfriend there. They are just getting their Back packs packed ready for their 6 months trip to South America.Janice is trying to get all their washing dried at the moment .Not an easy job in this weather. They can't go with damp washing lol

Seems like most of us don't like Salmon. :-D

Annx Report 30 Aug 2015 22:05

Evening All,

We had a nice half hour walk and chat along by the quarry to the big pond yesterday and OH slept quite well last night and I slept like a log! He was talking of seeing his dad today but I said I thought it was too soon for me with everything else and could be upsetting. He decided I was right so rang the home instead. They were able to tell him his dad is absolutely fine so that was good. We both made a start on some things today, he's notified people and I've done a few letters for him and then, despite the rain,we went to see an open garden near Melton. It wasn't a brilliant one but had a nice raised Koi pool that didn't even have a cover or netting, unless it came out after people had gone. They were serving teas with nice homemade cake in a big log cabin. :-) It was some kind of private school run there teaching english to foreign students I think. The cabin was their classroom.

Mandy, young Lewis has grown a lot and looks as if he has lost his dark coloured hair now. He is a right little giggler enjoying himself! lol. I was impressed with the video and was going to ask how you'd sent it!!

I'm glad the fish are ok Mel, but what a shame it's rained on the Dog Show day and after your OH made the field look so good as well.

Oh dear Frank.........well I would have really enjoyed the salmon!! :-) It is awful when you get served something you really don't like though. I was served prawn cocktail once and hate it although I like hot prawns in something like a paella. It was like swallowing cold little slugs! yuk! :-S A few years ago one of our restaurants started to put just fish and chips on their menu and I had to leave mine as the fish had a horrid texture in my mouth. When I asked them what the fish was it turned out to be Basa. I don't think it was popular as they soon went back to Haddock with their chips. That house sounds absolutely fabulous Frank. Methinks I would need to get through a few more husbands to live in a place like that! ;-) lol.

Gill you are making great progress with the decorating and have the bit between your teeth now with an eye on the other rooms you want to do. I can see the sewing taking a back seat for a while now!

Jane, stuff I leave draining gets put in the dishwasher too! :-S I find things you need often are best done by hand. I discovered a thing that clips on the cutlery rack in mine when I had a clearout of all the instructions. It means you can keep all the cutlery seperate. I'd only had the dishwasher 7 years as well!! lol.

I do envy your nephew going to South America for 6 months. It's a place that's always interested me, especially the animals. A friend I had many years ago went with her boyfriend and had a great time. Mind you she nearly fainted when she saw the size of some cockroach things scampering off a toilet seat at a place they stayed at. They also found a body on a beach!! :-0

OH has gone to bed so I'm off now......night night everyone.

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 30 Aug 2015 22:38

Sounds like you both relaxed a bit today Ann. I don't like any kind of prawns or shellfish. I used to eat cockles when I was small till I found out the green bit in them was their poo. Oh loves any kind of fish or shellfish. I even bought him some oysters once. He is always on about the bucket of oysters he had in the USA when he went out there. The only fish I like is chip shop cod, smoked haddock, tinned pilchards and salmon and tuna but like Mandy I prefer Tuna than salmon.

Signing out now and going in the shower then will watch Tuppence and co, can't think what its called.

See you in the morning.

Hi folks, sorry I haven't been back in touch. My daughter had a burst appendix a few days ago and I had to drop everything and hot foot it down to Whitley Bay to help keep house and look after her three year old twins. She came out of hospital on Friday but is still very week as some poison stayed in her abdomen following surgery. It means she had even stronger antibiotics which left her with a vey upset stomach. Lost 7lbs already and she's such a wee thing.
Anyway, all I can remember just now from the postings was something about canaries down someone's bosom. Strange the things that stick in your mind.
Not my memories today but making memories. I took the children down to the best today. We sat on the 'prom' eating ice cream. Then we sat on the little bridge where the stream runs I to the sea. The children played at pushing and pulling grandma up the hill. They sat on the grass where hubby and I took them last year, and sang songs to me. I recorded them so there Granda could hear too. I said 'why don't we play aeroplanes' - so we all flew round a scrub of grass making engine noises. Just as we all did as children. They found feathers, different grasses and special stones to carry home while singing hi oh, hi oh, it's off to work we go. Memory making for all of us :-D goodnight everyone xx

Glad to hear you had a good nights sleep Ann, it'll do you both good to catch up on your sleep. The place you went to sounds nice, pity the weather wasn't though. I think Gordon did the right thing in ringing the home rather than going, you'll have lots to do after the BH weekend so having a few days rest is the best thing for you both right now.

Yes my sewing has been put on hold for the time being with all the decorating we are in the middle of doing. As soon as the dining room is finished we'll be starting the living room, in the hope of having it finished before Michelle's visit. We're leaving Sandra's room until Michelle has gone home because Sandra will need to sleep in the spare room and she can't do that with her sister in there. OH will have another week off work after Michelle has gone home so there'll be plenty of time to sort it for Sandra before he goes back to work. The kitchen and bathroom are fully tiled so there's not much work in there. Knowing OH he'll have both rooms done in a day, he's such a fast worker.

Frank didn't make it back here, hope he can post again tomorrow.

Well, OH put me to shame earlier, I spent all day on and off painting in the dinning room leaving just the door, loft hatch and skirting boards for OH to do and he had them all done in half an hour........I said he was quicker than me didn't I? LOL.

Nice to see you back Iris, sorry to hear about your daughter, hope she is feeling better soon <3 Sounds like you had a great time with the children making new memories. My children are all grown up and I don't have any grandchildren yet. I miss acting silly with small children, it's great fun isn't it?

Sounds like the weather isn't going to be kind to you Mel and the dogs will have to use the village hall after all :-( It's such a shame after all the hard work your OH put into sorting out the field.

We've just finished watching both Casualties and are shattered now so we're off to bed, see you all in the morning

Morning sll, evening Kim.

I was in bed by 9.30 last night, hence I was up at 4.00 am this morning I am full of tea, and fed up with reading. and the blood# cat. She is running up and down and wants to play.

Can't get used to this keyboard yet, as the keys are much smaller..

Morning Frank and All and evening Kim,

Frank is your new pc a laptop? Hope you soon get used to the keys.

Had two pics from Maureen today and this is what she says.

Hope you and everyone on the thread are well, I haven't had a chance to look in to see how you are all doing. Please pass on my best wishes to everyone and thank them for still including me in all the photos.

Job done so now this weather is awful today grey wet and quite cold. What happened to the day they said was going to be the best one of the holiday is what I'd like to know.

O good Iris is back making new memories. Twin granchildren how lovely. I can just imagine you three running around with your arms outstretched making plane noises.
Hope your daughter recovers soon after the operation. Has she any more children or just the twins?

Thats another thing, why was it that the boys at school could make really good plane noises and gun fire and us girls could'nt?

Better get on and do some tidying up.

Morning all

Cloudy but dry here today.

Nice to hear from Maureen Mel, has she said when she's coming back on the thread, she's been really missed.

You'll get used to the keys soon Frank it takes a bit of time when you have a new keyboard. Glad to hear you had a good nights sleep even if you were awake earlier, that's probably because you went to bed earlier. At least you got a good few hours of sleep which is what counts.

I had a bit of a lay in today and didn't get up until 10am, very unusual for me ;-). I popped my head round the dining room door to check the gloss painting OH and I did yesterday and it's looking good and doesn't need another coat of paint so hopefully if the filler has dried enough the room might be finished today, then we can move onto the living room.

Going to have my cuppa now, see you all later <3

It's been raining here since I got up. The cat is still full of play. (I think I eill give her a sleeping tablet lol)

Ros got up about 9.00 .she's had her breakfast and is now in
the shower. I have been dozing in the chair. I will get showered next It might brighten me up. more than can be said for the weather.

MEL, It's a new ACER laptop that Ros bought me in June our anniversary. This is the first time Conrad has been home to set it up for me. I have my numbers in a block on the right hand side of the keyboard and all my F tabs across the top. The keys are much smaller and are slightly more to the left. This is why I am having trouble hitting the right key.I keep having to find the error and correct it. Sometimes I hit the "s" instead of the "a". and so on. practice will make perfect lol

Glad IRIS has popped back to see us. Sorry to hear your new. I hope all goes well with your daughter. That was my mother with the canaries. It started with someone who use to store her pegs down her bosom :-D :-D :-D

I see Gill and OH are getting on with the decoration. What's your rate ?? I could do with my lounge and kitchen doing LOL

Ros has to take the cat back late afternoon. I hope they made it back alright. There was a lot of trouble again at Callas, I think they were catching a late train last night. So hope they made it home. !!!

Still fine drizzle in the air but it looks a bit brighter out there.

Oh has just hoovered through for me with the Dy*on !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I was sucking cobwebs up and he came in. Told me to turn the pc off and he did his too. Tried it with the brushes going round and it shot the leccy out. Tried it again with the body of the hoover down ad it went so he did'nt stop but hoovered the kitchen dining room hall and the bit inside his study. It dos'nt quite reach in there till I plug it in the bedroom. O and the bathroom. Then it started playing up again so he gave up. When I LOOKED I have a huge amount of my hair around the brush so I have given it a bit of a hair cut and I shall empty the box so I can try again.
