You're lucky Mel, having your OH do the hovering, I think my OH is allergic to the hoover LOL and the iron :-D. Glad to hear you got the hoover to work, even if it was only for a short time.

The sun is trying it's best to find it's way through the clouds, we haven't had rain for ages so I'm going to have to water the garden later. Knowing my luck as soon as I've finished watering the rain will arrive :-S

I had the same problem as you Frank when I went over to a laptop from the PC, everything was further over to the left but I got the hang of it in the end. I'm a touch typist so when I first typed it looked like some foreign language LOL. You'll soon get used to it though.
So the cat is going home today? You'll miss her when she's gone. How old is she? She sounds quite young, with her wanting to play all the time.

I've just done some emulsioning over the filler I put around yesterday in the dining room, so when OH puts a coat of paint on the ceiling it won't stand out so much. He thinks it'll only take another couple of coats of paint, the same on the walls, so it should all be finished today ready for us to move the living furniture out.

The living room is an easy job to do as it's just a quick paint job, so OH will have that done on Thursday on his next day off. I was thinking of making a start on Sandra's room as OH will have three days off before Michelle arrives so if the ceiling doesn't need plastering that'll be finished too.

The bathroom and kitchen will only take him one day to do both of them as they are quite small rooms. So with a bit of luck the whole place might be finished in time for Michelle's visit ;-).

When Michelle goes home OH has another week off work so if all the decorating is finished we might go away somewhere as we haven't had a holiday in over 12 years. Depends on the weather though, don't fancy going away in the rain :-)
I'll let OH know you want to hire him for your decorating Frank :-D :-D

Off to get a bath now. I need to nip out to the shop when OH gets back in for some more paint. He goes to his mates on a Monday morning.....a bit of male bonding LOL

Afternoon All
Sheesh what a day.Just non stop rain :-S.I think it is a bit lighter now,so hopefully it will stop and then I can put the cat out.He must know it is raining as he has shown no interest in going out and has just slept all day.

Ann it must have been nice just to do some 'normal' stuff together without the worry of getting any phone calls.Shame it was wet though when you went to see the garden.

Iris .I hope your daughter makes a speedy recovey after her burst appendix. My friend had the same thing happen a few weeks ago just 2 days after she retired. She was in hosptital for 10 days after a 5 and a half hour op .She had Peritonitis and was so ill she was in the high dependency unit for a while. It will be a bit difficult for your daughter with her 3yr twins !!.Are they boys or girls or one of each? I am guessing they might be boys if you were playing Aeroplanes :-D :-D..Lots of nice memories for them after your smashing day out with them :-D :-D

That was good to hear from Maureen Mel..What pics did she send? Nice to know she is ok and I hope she comes back to us again soon.

How did Ann manage to see the video of Lewis??? I'm gutted it didn't work :-S :-S

Frank was it just the ferries or the trains that had trouble again from Calais.I thin kyou will have heard now if they had got held up...Oh you are going to miss little 'fluffit'.
Is that what you said she is called??.I think she wil miss you too with all the attention she has been getting.

Gill your house is going to look brand new soon after you finish all the decorating.I wonder if you will be tempted to put it back on the market !!! :-D .You must have needed you lie in this morning.I don't think I have ever heard you say you have had a lie in before.I actually had a nice bath too this morning.Lots of foam and a nice long soak .It was great.

I have heard from Hannah .She sent a couple of pics of them all eating the biggest Pizza I have ever seen !!!!.This morning they were going to see the florist who is doing the flowers for the wedding and then after that they were off for the rest of the day to a Beach Club.(Not sure what that is) but I'm sure it will be lovely. They are not out on the town or anything like that but just havine the few days before the wedding to chill and have a bit of pampering .I think it is 30 degrees there ,so not quite the weather we are having right now.

I decided to do a recipe from the Wiatr*** weekly paper. It is Crispy Parmesan Chicken with Margherita Spaghetti.Basically it is Chicken Schnitzel with Basil and Parmesan in the breadcrumbs and fresh spaghetti with a tomato ,Basil and Oregano ,onion and garlic sauce. Chris has bashed the chicken breasts flat for me :-D.I have already made the breadcrumb mix with herbs and chopped the onion and garlic.
James absolutly hates Parmesan so I have done a separate crumb for him.He might want to add Crushed Chillie flakes in his instead of the cheese.I hope his journey home is ok and with now hold ups.You never know with a BH Monday when everyone is on their way home.

Mel I bet all the dogs were a bit miffed being dragged out in wet weather to strut their stuff lol..Has it dried out enough for the field to be used?

Afternoon all,

What a wash out for a bank holiday ,it's been raining here all day ,it really came down this morning and the road was flooded the drains couldn't cope with the amount of water that was coming down as it eased up a bit the water has drained away .

Well i really don't know why Ann should be able to see the video and no one else could as it was sent just the same as the others :-S
Not a lot i can do until son comes and sorts it for me .

I hope it's kept dry for the dogs show today after all the effort OH has put into getting the field ready for them .

Nice to know Maureens about ,i did wonder if she would suddenly appear and say she had moved house to be near her son :-)

It does look lovely where Hannah is staying Jane ,all those white little houses reminds me of the Greek islands with all their little white places .
At 30 degrees they should all come home with a lovely tan .
We're having Pizza tonight but i bet its not a patch on the one Hannah as had in Italy .
I like the sound of the Crispy Parmesan Chicken.

I'am not surprised you had a lay in this morning Gill you have been working hard the last week ,i don't know how you keep going like that .

I'am sure you'll soon get the hang of the new lap top Frank, when i had this one i was wasn't that keen on it as this one has black keys and my old one had grey keys and were so much easier to see ,but i did what son told me and just tilted my screen down a bit to light up the keys ,i do find it easier to type the lap top rather than the tablet i have .

Poor Pat if they have the rain like here i carn't see much being done on the new build roof .

Annx Report 31 Aug 2015 15:04

Afternoon All,

It's been pouring with rain here since mid morning. What a shame for all the event organisers. :-S Still the beans will be lapping it up! You need one of those cat toys that Jackson Galaxy uses on the telly Frank......or make your own! A stick with a length of string on and a bunch of feathers tied on the end of the string. Sit in your easy chair and keep flipping it about and she'll soon wear herself out!! It's a shame she's going home, I shall miss hearing about her antics. :-)

Gill, I have even used a hairdryer on filler to dry it more quickly so I could start painting it before now! It sounds like you are getting on quickly with it all. This was a new bungalow when we moved in and we have kept all walls emulsioned. It's so much easier I can't imagine having much in the way of wallpaper again, maybe a feature wall at the most. Often in the past I would do all the decorating and once wallpapered a huge lounge ceiling on my own with the aid of a broom!! Me and my first OH completely gutted an old house we bought, so I did all those jobs while he knocked walls down, built walls up and fitted the kitchen, bathroom and built in wardrobes.

We both had a good sleep again last night and OH is looking less careworn. He's gone to his mum's house and then on to a match near there. He's clearing out the rest of the food and taking the tinned stuff to a foodbank in the Te*co near there. It will give him chance to search around again for those certs and to get the tel no to cancel the payments for the alarm button. We keep thinking of different things to be done! I'm typing more letters to send copies of the POA doc off for their bills so we can deal with them till the house is sold. Tomorrow will be a busy day, but we are both happier getting on with things now.

Yes, what pics did Maureen send Mel? I know she was doing lots of decorating at her daughter's I think and had changed her car. She was hoping to meet up with me and Jane if she had time but must have been kept too busy decorating.

That sounds like my kind of meal Jane with onion, oregano, garlic and basil. It sounds very tasty. I'm not mad on the smell of Parmesan, but don't mind a bit of it. lol. What are we like!! I meant to say I'm amazed those gas bottles weren't caged and locked up. When we had the caravan years ago, we had padlocks and chain on our gas bottles as they were what thieves went for.

The veg is all ready for dinner/lunch with the barnsley lamb chops so I'll start it soon. OH won't be back till much later than I eat so his will go in the warming drawer. I can remember mum having covered, plated dinners resting on saucepans of hot water for dad when he got home from work late.

Well we were blessed with sunshine after I said it was peeping through a bit. Its still out so I expect you lot will get it tomorrow and we will have more rain and grey sky.

Show went off ok. Between us we had 10 strips of raffle tickets and only oh won a prize of a pack of dog chew stick things and a packet of Ella Ballerina window stickers and I could'nt find a little girl to give them to!! Di will have the dog chews and if they are too big for her two next door will have them.

I will try and send you the pics Maureen sent me. One is of Chloe in Maureen's sun hat and the other is the new kitten Reggie.

It's only me.

Ann that brings back some memories having your dinner on a boiling saucepan of water with either another plate or a big saucepan lide over it. The gravy was always dried up round the plate !!!

I'm pleased you and G had a bit of YOU time. The hard work will start Tomorrow. Just take it steady. Rome wasn't built in a day :-D :-D :-D

We have one of those "fishing rods" for the cat. She keeps trying to hide it under the rug ;-) ;-)

She has had three calming tablets over the last three days for her journey home this afternoon. Ros will set off about 5.30 pm I've told her she must be careful driving down the motorway in this weather.

Oh Jane how adventurous you are with your cooking. I tend to limit myself to meat and three veg. Ros is not one for a lot of herbs and spices.

I bet Thomas has been walking around with crossed legs today
:-S :-S poor little chap.!!!

How did the dog show go Mel, rained off, like most events around the Country. It has stopped here now, but it's almost DARK with very low black clouds.

Gill what will you do with yourself when all the decorating is finished. Go down the LABOUR EXCHANGE and SIGN ON. ??? I'm sure they will find you something !!!

Well as Ros has been invited down to Harvey's for a meal. I can either get myself something here, or go down the pub. I wonder what I will do. ???

I haven't received any pictures either. From Maureen, Jane or Mandy. :-( :-(

Yes I've just tried Mandy video and it worked for me too. Isn't Lewis cute? I love it when little ones giggle like that <3 Don't know why the video didn't work last time I tried though.

We have had sun all afternoon, I nipped out and bought the paint then did some food shopping and visited my mum, then came home, put dinner on and started on a pile of washing I had to do after us all having baths earlier. OH is painting the dining room and is hoping to have it finished today so we can make a start on moving all the living room furniture into there. He wants to get the living room done on Thursday as he has a whole day off work then we can move the furniture back into the living room on Friday afternoon when OH will only be working the morning shift .....It's all go around here at the moment. :-D

Your meal sounds lovely Jane, we've just had sausages mash and beans as I didn't have much time to do anything else, everyone was ok with it though.

Just going to watch the news now then put on another load of washing.

Got the video Mandy :-D :-D :-D :-D.After seeing Mel saying she tried again I thought I would try.It is lovely :-D :-D :-D.His laughter is so infectious and he was having a great time there.

Love the pics from Maureen .Little Reggie looks a cutie and the pic of Chloe in the hat reminded me of a Victorian photo with her lovely curly hair and the way tshe was holding the hat :-D :-D

Ann I bet you will enjoy your lovely Barnsley Chops tonight.I doubt you have both felt like not eating much just lately.I tried to ring you earlier ,but no reply.I din't leave a message.
James said his chicken was Out of this world !!!!!!!..I have a puffed out chest now :-D
Just have to mine and Chris's.I hope he enjoys it as much as James.

You have been lucky then Mel with some sun......Not a peep of it here today .But it has stopped raining at last :-D..Thomas is OUT :-D

Hi Frank didn't see you there. I think when all the decorating's finished we'll just relax for a while. I didn't realise how big this place was until we started decorating, but it does need doing and hopefully when it's all finished it won't need doing again for a while. We're thinking about putting it back on the market because we want to release some of the equity to buy a second house to rent out, it'll give us an extra income and be an investment for the future.

I remember my mum putting my dad's dinner in between two plates over a pan of boiling water too ;-)

News has started so better get off and watch it

Morning all

Sunny here but we had such heavy rain last night. It started at 11.15pm and boy did it make a noise, I've not heard rain that heavy for such a long time. I don't know what time it stopped but there is a massive puddle on our patio, so it must of rained for a long time. At least I don't have to water the garden now :-D

Glad to hear your meal was a success Jane and that James loved it. Did Chris like it to?

Has the cat gone now Frank? You're going to miss her I expect

How are things with you and Gordon today Ann? Glad to hear you are both getting some decent sleep now. I guess you're going to be busy today. How is FIL, are you going to tell him what's happened? I know you were a bit concerned he wouldn't take it very well?

Thanks Mel, for passing on Maureen pics. Isn't Chloe cute in her little hat and Reggie looks like he is posing for the camera LOL. Hope things go ok for you at the dentist today.

Does anyone else think this year's gone quick, or is it just me? I can't believe we're in September already.

I took a look at the ceiling in the dinning room last night and unfortunately it needs a bit more filler, so that's what I'm going to be doing today, then hopefully if it dries in time I'll go over it with some emulsion. OH said to leave it, but I think that's because he's fed up of painting, but you can really see it needs doing so I can't leave it like that. I think if I paint it OH will be alright with the filling being done. He's in work today, so I'm hoping to have it all finished to surprise him later.

I need to get the room finished today so it's dry enough to move the living furniture in there tomorrow, ready for the living room to be painted on Thursday. Now I know why the ceilings were papered in the first place ;-) Never mind it'll all look good when it's finished and then it'll only need a couple of coats of paint in the future. <3

Off to get a cuppa now and put the washing machine on again, I ran out of time yesterday to do it all

Morning all, evening Kim,

I wouldn't think you need to puff your chest out Jane :-D :-D :-D enough said !!!

Mandy I saw that clip of the show ground. They were lucky not to fall over in all that MUD.

I couldn't be bothered to go to the pub last night so cooked something at home.

It's marvelous what you can find on the T.V. when you haven't got the soaps on. I spend a very pleasurable evening watching what I liked. Ros came home about 9.45 pm. I had recorded all her soaps so I went to bed for a read, and left her too it.

The best of it is that I have recorded a few series for me to watch when she is out. So I hope she doesn't need to record a soap anytime soon !!! :-D :-D :-D She will be out of luck ;-) ;-) ;-)

I got up to rain like you Jane. 6.45 am It seemed so strange not to
have the cat round my feet, wanting to be fed.

We had a right old time trying to catch the cat to go in her basket. She got called a few "BASKETS" before we got her in.

They didn't believe when Ros told them how she played in the evening with my feet.
She usually just hides away !!!

Still spending a lot of time correcting my "a" and "s" "es" and "rs"
I will get there somtime in the future.

Don't think there will be much grass cutting today.

Jane Harvey was delayed because the cars that couldn't get on the ferries were given tickets for the TRAINS. They didn't get home until 4.00 am instead of 1.00 am.

Gillx Report 1 Sep 2015 10:38

Aren't you lucky having your OH clean where the new washing machine is going Mel? My OH would take the machine out but, because I'm so small, it's my job to get underneath to clean it all out ;-) Well, that's OH's excuse, anyway LOL

So you're missing the cat already Frank? I knew you would :-D Have you thought of getting one of your own? I found when I had cats they were great company.
Glad to see you have found some programmes to watch. Maybe you could get another TV for the conservatory or bedroom then you can watch your programmes when Ros watch's the soaps. Many a time OH has been watching the football while I've watched a drama or a chick flick with Sandra and Sandra likes different programmes to us so she watch's them on the other TV too. It doesn't get used all the time but is very handy with there being three of us here, all liking to watch different things. Just a thought, but it might be a good investment for you, as we all know you don't like the soaps. ;-) ;-) <3
Sorry to hear Harvey was delayed for so long, I bet he was glad to get home to bed?

Well, it looks like I've finally got the rain you've all had recently, it's gone very dark so doing the filler on the dining room ceiling is proving a bit difficult. I tried putting the light on but that was worse. I'm just having another cuppa then I'll try again. The next bit is in the middle of the room rather than the outside so there's a bit more light there which hopefully will make the job a bit easier to do ;-)

Morning All Evening Kim

I think our summer's (what we had of it) has gone, went to hang some washing on the line and there's a damp cold chill in the air, as though Autumn has arrived,
even some of the big oak trees around our streets have leaves that are turning red and orange,

It was 6 weeks ago since my head started playing up and I went to see the doctor, while increasing my meds, I had to come back on the same day to the surgery for a blood test to check on my underactive thyroid ,
I got results back saying all was fine,

WELL!! last week got a letter in saying I had to make another app for a repeat blood test to be done :-S :-S so I went yesterday to the surgery to see the practice nurse,
and just as I sat down she say's I've got a story for you :-0 I started to think the worst of course but it turns out one of the receptionists made of mistake and had put me down for a repeat blood test in 6 WEEKS time NO WRONG, 6 MONTHS TIME.
All I can say was a least my Frank had brought me to the surgery in the car and was waiting for me, and I didn't have to walk back home , it takes over 1/2 hour to walk there and most of it is up hill puff puff .

Mind you when I think about it, the surgery has my home phone number Why could they not get someone to ring me and tell me there had been a mistake and I did not need to come to the surgery after all,
