Mel is it Lady Chatterley's Lover starting on Sunday that you are thinking of?
I watched the first one of The Trials of Jimmy Rose this week so will be watching that on Sunday.I might record Lady C's Lover.
I had a couple of bites of that crackling :-D,and it was so tasty and not that hard I couldn't bite into it.But it is now in the bin :-S

I'm going to have to record Downton as we will be away then.
I see on Pat's FB that the roof is finished :-D :-D.She will be very happy about that now.
Gill have you had your bath? Is your back any easier?

Where is our Frankie ????

Evening all,

It's been another lovely day ,bit chilly first thing but once the sun got through it was nice ,we sat out and had coffee and had to put the brolly up.

Your poor back Gill you will have to be careful and let OH do all the furniture moving ,has a nice bath helped ?

I have had a pain in my side today i think i pulled a muscle doing all the hoeing
yesterday ,i've just taken to more pain killers .

Thats good the builder hasn't got his own way with taking the bits of garden Ann, the neighbors must be relieved .
Come on own up how many cakes did you eat :-D
It must be annoying with the dog barking early in the morning ,if we let Toby out i keep an eye on him and get him in if he does start barking ,it's not very often he barks now as he's deaf he doesn't hear much to bark at :-( :-D
It's hard to know how many to cater for at a funeral as you never know how many will drop in after the service .
We have a funeral tomorrow afternoon ,hubby's BIL died he was 84 and had Leukemia.

It was cold beef and oven chips for us tonight nice and easy .

Hubby has been working on his shed ,he's replaced the old shed door with the door we use to have on the front of the house ,it's been stored in the shed all this while ,all was going well until he put the new lock on the door and he cracked the pane of glass !! now he has to have a new bit of glass cut and it's a shaped bit too !!

Frank Report 3 Sep 2015 19:52

Here I am Jane,

Have read most of the posts but I bet I can't remember them all.

I had a bad night last night. In bed by 11.00 pm Read by book, thought I had better go to the toilet. I opened the bedroom door, and everywhere was in darkness !! I opened the bathroom door to hear a voice say "I'M IN HERE" I jumped about SIX FOOT in the air and thought I was going to have a HEART ATTACK. I couldn't relax and settle in bed, so I got up and read till 4.00 am. I was up and about by 9.00 am. THANKS ROS. !!!

Glad you had a nice day out Liz, I don't know that area. but it sounded interesting. How far from your home ??? When I moved here in 64 I went on a dig in Irthlingborough. (Jane Knows it) it was some Roman ruin that had been unearthed by a farmer. I worked in Rushden, just down the road, and would go there during my lunch hour.

Gill, when will you learn a lesson, as you say you are small, you shouldn't be lugging heavy furniture around. Ros slipped a disc moving her Mothers bed down stairs when she was very ill. Ros ended up having FOUR major operations from 1979 to 1986 . So be told !!!

Still not as happy with this keyboard as my old one. I must catch a key somehow that takes the cursor back 5/6 lines

Snap Mel, I did a shoulder of lamb tonight. Broad Beans, Runners, Peas and Carrots. and Fur Apple Potato's. I put a mint marinade over the meat, which makes the skin nicy a crunchy just like Crackling on pork. Did you get rid of your spiders ?? That's one thing the cat loved to catch, she would go under the table, in cupboards and would always find one. We get a lot of these very pale long legged tiny body ones. They just seem to appear from nowhere !!!

Been to the nurse for my injection and M O T. Everything fine. I had to blow into one of these tube things. I blew the needle almost to the top THREE TIMES. Excellent were the nurses words. Blood pressure 172/64 which she was happy with. Then went to see the nice doctor, we had a good old chat again, and she is writing to the counselor to make an appointment for me. We will see how it goes.

Ann It will be almost impossible to cater for how many people will come to the WAKE Our friend Val. had her husbands at the local pub, and I think it was a set price.
These solicitors certainly know how to charge DON'T THEY. I knew I should have gone soliciting when I was young :-D :-D :-D :-D What do they call them "rent boys" ;-) ;-) ;-)

Jane it wouldn't be allowed in our house to throw away crackling. If I have my teeth in I love it, and Ros eats most of it anyway.

Well that's an hour of the soaps gone, now I can get back to my book. Read over 24% of it now. Only 76% to go !!! If anyone gets change to read it, it's better than the TV series. They refer to an old English land owner who came from Newport Pagnel, in Buckinghamshire. So close to home. !!

See you tomorrow, sleep tight all.

Annx Report 3 Sep 2015 20:30

Oh yes Pat will be pleased about that won't she! OH loves crackling and if we are out I have to have some so he can have mine as well as his. Thank you for your card Jane, it was very nice of you. Our post seems to be arriving in the late afternoon now. To think it always arrived before I went to work years ago. It sounds like the bridesmaids won't be able to sit down once they have their dresses on or they'll end up crumpled. I remember having dresses like that and reclining the car passenger seat so I didn't bend in the middle so much! lol

It seems that most of us had lamb today as we had some too! Mel FIL does seem to recognise us both at the moment, but then seems to forget we are married. I suppose it's only a matter of time before he doesn't even recognise us.

Sorry to hear about your hubby's BIL Mandy. I hope it stays fine for you tomorrow. After visiting a few places, we've settled on the place we had lunch today for after the funeral. They just charge so much per head. Some charge a set price for the room and so much per head as well.

I'm off to bed now, OH has already gone as he's shattered and has a headache. We both said tonight that we will be glad when the next few months are over. I told him I have a good mind to leave my body to medical science so he won't have all this to do for me and the cheeky bounder said they'd probably send it back!!

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 3 Sep 2015 22:38

Its nice to know G can still come back with a quick answer Ann. Thats the kind of thing my oh would have said.

Frank we get those spiders and sometimes if you make them aware your there they will shake back and forth in their web. Mum used to saythey were after her when they did that. She hated spiders and there is many a time she would get me up in the night to get a spider out of her loo so she could go in there. Those long legged ones seem to have spiderlings and teenagers some are really tiny but they all go up the hoover if I see them.

Good Pat's roof is now on and the work can carry on inside now. She is getting there now, thank goodness.

Well I am off now to what WDYTYA as I think its Jerry Hall and I shall watch it on the youview box.

Night night.

Iris Report 3 Sep 2015 22:50

Good evening all, thank you for your kind wishes regarding my daughter and your special wishes today Mel. She is coming along well so hopefully she will be able to go back to work on Monday. I'll be able to go home then as well. Much to do in the garden having grown lots of veg this year. We are growing Fir Apple potatoes this year too Frank. We've tried a boiling already - nice buttery flavour.
You all seem to be eating roast dinner every day! I made veggie fried rice tonight, which was good, but I could just go a roast.
Someone asked how I balanced on a Beano book and skate when I was young. It was easy, sit with your knees up to your chest, slightly splayed like giving birth, sorry Frank, and away you go - bombing down the street. Not much traffic in those days!
More childhood memories: hiding behind the sofa when the rent man came. Counting shillings after the gas man emptied the meter, the gas mans long mac - you'll have heard the expression 'she had a face as long as a gas man's mac' I'm sure. Combing my great grandma's long grey hair and platting it for her so she could tie it round into a bun, fastening her corset, fastening her stockings on and pulling her long elastic acted drawers up before helping her into her black mourning dress. I still have her black knitted shawl. Oh well, goodnight all. Surely I'll have more time to read your stories better come time xx

Lovely stories Iris. I forgot to post my last remark and had'nt turned the pc off.

Mum told me that great gran (her mothers mum) had really long hair and when she washed it she would sit in a deckchair with it hanging over the back. She always wore black and her hair up. She died before I was born so I never knew her but I am sure she helped me with the family tree as I used to say "come on great gran give us a clue" and the next time I tried looking I would find something or someone would get in touch with info.

Right I am signing out now so night night.

Morning all

Sunny again today and it looks like all the water has finally drained away. The grass needs cutting, but I might leave that a few days, hope it doesn't rain again then it should be dry enough to cut.

My back and neck are feeling less sore today, the hot bath with muscle soak really helped.

Hope your side is feeling a bit better today Mandy, it's horrible when you pull a muscle isn't it? Try a hot soak in a bath, it helped me.

So you're still picking your Runners Jane, it sounds like you've had quite a lot this year. I wonder how Franks are getting on, he had quite a few too.

I think you should enter one of your painting in the village show on Saturday Ann, they are really good. Sorry to hear the neighbours dog has been keeping you awake with it's barking. Can't you have a word with your neighbour about it?
Large solicitor's bills are horrible and such a shock sometimes. We had to pay out a fortune when Michelle came off the deeds last year.

Glad to hear Pat's roof is finally finished.........that'll be a relief for her. Hopefully the rest of the build shouldn't take to long to complete now, then she can move in before the winter gets here.

Hope Frank can make it on here today. Don't give up Frank.

Nice to hear your stories again Iris. Glad to hear your daughter is feeling much better.

We have decided to buy some new sofa's so will be going sofa shopping when OH is on his holidays next week. We might change the living room carpet too, where the sofa has been has left two large dints in the carpet that I don't think will hoover out. I'm leaving the welsh dresser in the dining room.......One less heavy thing to move again, but will have to help OH move the electric fire back in as it's to heavy for him to do on his own. That can wait a few days until my back and neck are better.

Chatting with Michelle this morning so I should find out what time she will be arriving on Wednesday. Not sure if we are going to make a start on Sandra's bedroom before Michelle's arrival. I'll see how I feel tomorrow, if I'm not in pain I might make a start moving out the lighter furniture then wait for OH to move the heavier stuff....I think I've learnt my lesson ;-)

I checked the living room this morning and there was one small patch on the edge of the ceiling that needed a little more paint so I've done that for OH while he's in work this morning, hopefully when it dries it should be ok then that room will be finished. I thought OH had his NVQ exam this afternoon but it's the end of the month, so he'll be home around 2.30pm, I'm sure he'll be able to move the sofa's back into place for me. He left everything covered incase the room needed more painting, he said he couldn't see it very well in artificial light, so thought he'd leave the dust sheets down just incase.

Going to get a drink now and empty the washing machine, it sounds like it's just finished.

Morning Fair Maidens and Afternoon Kim,

Woke to a nice sunny morning with a slight breeze. I might even go for a little walk later.

Nice to see you back Iris. My Granny Baker (she was the only one I knew of my grandparents) Always wore Black dresses down to her ankles and her hair in a bun, she was so tiny to me about 4 ft 8 inches . I didn't see much of her. She died in 1953 aged 86 the same age my Mother died in 1980. My Mother also had hair down her back, that was plated and wore in a bun.I also remember her "STAYS" and big white "BLOOMERS"

I slept well last night, I only got out once, and went back to sleep until 8.30 am.

Ann, I am pleased that G has still got his "ONE LINERS" just the sort of thing I would say. !!!!

Ros has her Appointment with the nurse at 2.30 regarding her diabitis (sp) It's a 6 month check up.

I am seriously thinking of going back to my old PC This one is driving me bonkers.

See you later. If I can get on !!!

Afternoon All,

Nice to hear from you again Iris and I'm glad your daughter is getting better.

Yes Frank/Mel I haven't heard much of OH's wit for ages so it was good to hear his one liners are coming back, even if they are usually at my expense!! lol. :-) He went out early this morning to do the rounds of the hospital, register office, solicitor etc. I've fetched some cardboard boxes from the garden centre. We need to start collecting a few ready for clearing the house.

I've got towels out drying but it's been dull all day up to now. I've also picked a big bag of runners and there are still more to come. :-) Next I need to cut the photos for the show down to size as they have rules about these things! I must admit I'm quite looking forward to hanging about listening to any comments people may make, especially about the paintings, as no-one will know who I am! :-)

Good idea to rest your back a bit Gill, they only take longer to get better if you don't. Also you don't want to be shattered for Michelle's visit do you.

Oh Frank you are putting me off getting to grips with my laptop! I still tend to use my old desktop one at the moment because I know how to find everything on it. I need to back up lots like my photos before I change over completely as well.

Better go now as OH has done his errands and wants me to meet him. BBL

WE've had two deliveries. ne was the wood. decking and blocks and sand and oh was unloading that and came in for a cuppa and the phone rang. It was the liner arrived too. So the big trailer is full of blocks and a big bag of sand (1 ton) and the small trailer is full of rubber pond liner.

I am being a very very good girl today..................................................... :-(

Frank Report 4 Sep 2015 17:49

I am pleased to hear it Mel, What have you been doing to say that. ?? Your OH is going to be busy this coming weeks lol

Just as I sat down here I have horrible pains going through my right wrist. Where they are coning from I don't know.

A Couple of weeks ago I mentioned the bad experience I had at a FAYRE and SQUARE pub. Well I phoned the duty Manager to let him know we were coming this afternoon for our "FREE MEAL" Absolute disaster . I told the bar staff who I was and the duty manager was expecting me. We sat at a table for HALF AN HOUR. No drinks anmd NO MANAGER. So out we walked, and went to a carvery where we had an excellent meal. Needless to say an EMAIL is winging it's way to the HEAD OFFICE.

Yes Ann Box's by the load will be required to clear the house. There will be things that G might want to keep, as Ros did from her Mum. They ARE STILL IN tea chests 37 years later.untouched :-D :-D :-D

It has been a dismal old day here. I didn't get for my walk, in fear it would rain.

Ros has just washed her hair and is putting in the rollers, then the dreaded HAIR DRYER will be whirling away for an hour or so to dry it. ;-) ;-) ;-)

Going to watch the early news now, See you all later.

Frank keep persevering I'm sure you will get the hang of it in the end :-D

Ann it must be nice to have some of the old OH back wth his lovely one liners LOL.

So with your big deliveries today then Mel you will be all ready to help OH :-D

Gill ,it will be smashing to have new settees.I still don't know when we will think about changing ours. They are just too low for us now :-S.It is a job sometimes to haul ourselves up !!!..Maybe next year.

Iris my Nana had a bun for most of her life. She would make a long plait and then wind it up into a bun .But then when she was in her 80's she decided to have it all cut and so had a wash and set.She thought she was very modern then :-D..She wore Pink Bloomers :-D

Frank you will have to knock on the bathroom door in future LOL or get Ros to whistle :-D

Chris decided to put the heating on this afternoon !!!..Now I am too hot.I thi kit madt Thomas even sleepier than normal as he has slept all day.I have just carried him out and shut the back door.I don't think he was too impressed.Just as I put him out 2 young Green Woodpeckers took flight from the lawn.

James is going to Jess's again tonight. He only went last weekend .It must be costing a fortune in petrol.I don't know why he is going, unless they have something planned. Then next thursday she is coming here for the night before they fly to Berlin for 4 nights.
It is the wedding in Italy tomorrow.Hannah says the place is so beautiful and very hot.She can reach out of her bedroom window and pick grapes if she wanted to .
I can't wait to see some wedding pics .

I am sat here with my tongue sticking out.I have a blooming ulcer right on the end of it :-S :-S........and no I haven't been telling any porkies.Honestly :-D Why are they so painful??

Ann have you decided yet what to enter for the show?..Yes if it was me I would be earwigging to see what comments are made too :-D :-D.Maybe even saying how wonderful I thought the painting/photo was LOLOL

I bought a few more pairs of pants this morning in M&*...and had a hilarious converstion about pants with the lady behind me and the lady on the till.We were in stitches.Heaven knows what other people were thinking :-DI know the husband of the lady behind me was looking rather embarrassed and looked like he wanted to disappear through the ground :-D :-D...He was probably thinking 'Blo**y Women" lol
Can you imagine our Mothers having a conversation like that in the middle of the shop.
It was nice to have a good laugh like that with complete strangers :-D :-D
