I am arn't I?

A photo I saw years ago of my great grandma showed her with a bun. My grandma had those 1920's Marcel waves in her hair. I can remember the special, about 6 inches long, sprung clips with spikes all along both edges that she did them with. I used to play with them and if you weren't careful the spikes would give your scalp a right scrape! She also used some metal curlers that you passed your hair between flat metal strips, wound the curl around and then hooked the metal strips in a slot to hold them. She also used metal tong things she heated on the fire!!! :-0 I remember she used to rinse her hair in cold tea to give it a tint. I remember her rinsing my face with parsley water as it was supposed to fade freckles......don't think it worked though. She used to say her 'STAYS' were killing her Frank!! lol. She wore bloomers too.

I can't see OH wanting to keep much. It will mostly be the photos, some of his dad's tools and his dad's old original meccano set from when he was a boy that is still in it's box. There's no jewellery, nice china or anything like that and neither of us are that sentimental we want lots of stuff that would just sit in boxes using up the space we've just made. She did have a few very old dolls I would have kept because they were old,(I don't like dolls!) but they were given to a charity shop a few years ago.

I hate it when you get an ulcer on the end of your tongue. It feels much bigger than it is. I sometimes get one when I've burnt it trying a hot sauce or gravy. Fancy you having a giggle about knickers Jane! lol. When I think of some that I used to wear!! I had to hide black underwear that I had from my mum and washed it when she was out. She thought it was disgusting and only wore white!

Keep it up Mel!! It sounds like you will be a brickies mate the next few days now all that stuff has been delivered. :-)

OH has started to take the wallpaper off Sandra's bedroom ceiling, there is polystyrene tiles underneath, so it looks like the ceiling will need plastering after all. It's going to take him a few days to get it all off first though. He's just stopped for today and will have another go at it tomorrow.

Dull day here today but not raining, so that's good

I'm having a relaxing day today as there's nothing I can do until OH has finished taking the wallpaper and polystyrene tiles off Sandra's bedroom ceiling. Sandra's moved into the big bedroom and thinks it's great, I think she might end up staying in there, so her old room will become the spare room if she does.

This place is a bit upside down at the moment with bits of furniture all over the place and hardly anything in their correct rooms yet. Hopefully if the bedroom OH is on now doesn't take to long to do, we'll be straight again soon.

My back and neck are still a bit sore so a days rest should help. I have so much to watch off the planner as we've hardly watched any of our programmes for days and the qualifying for the F1 is on today which I need to record for OH so I'll have to watch some programmes to free up some space on the planner to record it for him.

This is now the FIFTH time of posting. I think I have found the problem. Just above the "BACKSPACE" key is the DELETE key So when I backspace I must catch the Delete key. I hope that's all it is., will try it out if this goes through. !!!

Nothing special weather wise here, rain during the night and very overcast this morning.

Martine rang to say she wouldn't be meeting Ros this morning. It appears that her OH uncle JACK has had another STROKE her and Brian is with him AND her MIL has been without electricity since last night and she is down there waiting for the electricity board to turn up. They are both in their Nineties, so not a pleasant experience for either of them. Ros has popped to get what we want and will call to see Martine to see if she can do her shopping.

No plans for me today, no football i this lunchtime so I won't be going out.

It's taken me ages topost this, I keep having to go back and correct my mistakes.

Morning all and evening Kim,

Sun and cloud here today so its on and off if you know what I mean.Oh is attempting to get the BIG water lily out of the pond as he has taken the big stones off the top of the basket we have to put there because the fish suck little ones out. I just hope he can lift it.

Nothing much planned for today, just have to go up the shop for my Saturday paper so I can see whats on tv and mark what I want to watch when you know who goes to bed and I eventually get the changer in my hands.

Well it's not the delete key that's causing the problem I have tried it !!! So onward and upwards.

Remember me saying I had cut two main stems off my clematis in the border?

I think it done it good because it now has seven flowers on it and its climbing up the dead climbing hydranger and looks a picture.

Yes indeed the roof is finished now.....Its funny now that the builder has put a spurt on now he knows our moving date. the electrics are well on the way and the plumbing the walls are being plaster boarded and the insulation is being added as well...
We are busy this end packing and still throwing things away..
My youngest son came up from Kent yesterday and collected a unit he wanted also I gave him a lot of his personel things as well to take away with him.
I am seeing my eldest son tomorrow so their is his pile of things also lol

Oh has just pulled the old pond liner back from where it was leaking and there's a great cavern behind the felt liner. He said he recons it has been leaking since day one!! It just shows you what a tiny amount of water can take away. No wonder we have caves under the ground caused by rain water seeping through rocks etc.

Im am having my work friends and neighbours in for a drink next fridayAfter that I can pack all my glasses and dishes that I don't use..

Sounds like things are really moving on now Pat. Just 2 weeks to go and by the sounds of it quite a lot of things still to sort out. I'm sure you'll have it all done in time. Nice to hear your new place is starting to take shape now and things are moving on more quickly.

Keep going Mel, sounds like you're doing really well. You'll probably feel more hungry now. Isn't that what happens when you stop smoking?

I'm still plodding on through all my programmes with Sandra. I am quite tired today for some reason. Maybe it's all the hard work I've done lately catching up with me. Nothing else I can do for the moment until OH has finished taking all the wallpaper off the ceiling, then it'll be all go again trying to sort everything out before Michelle gets here on Wednesday. I managed to put the sofa's back in place in the living room this morning so that room is almost back to normal, just a few pictures and the mirror to put back up and the electric fire to bring back in here, which will be done in a few days after I've rested my neck and back a bit more, it's still a bit sore.

Pat I wonder if you could ask each of your friends to bring a chair .Any of those fold up ones would be ideal for your get together :-D.You must remember to give us all your new address sometime.

I hope the Uncle recovers from his stroke Frank and that electric is now back on for the MIL.Good job we aren't in the middle of winter.

Mel will OH have to fill in the 'cavern ' so the new liner will fit properly? I hope he doesn't hurt his back trying to get the Big Water Lily and basket out.

I had a message from Hannah about 8.30 this morning(I think 10.30 Italy).She said she was with the Bride all getting ready..But the temperature there has shot up to 38 degrees today !!!!!.Phew .I hope their Makeup doesn't run .I doubt they will be able to wear much face makeup in that heat.So I imagine that Caroline is now married and the reception will be in full swing.I hope Hannahs speech goes well and all the father of the brides as I know he was in a real panic about it.Poor man.I hope she sends me some pics later today.

Pleased everything is going along well now Pat. Like you we still have half our loft full on the boys things, and they left home over 20 years ago. !!! It will be their job to clear it ONE DAY,

I am having one of my "Shaky days." I managed to get showered and shaved while Ros was out. But, when I went to get dressed I started the shakes, so I put my dressing gown back on, and I'm still in it.

Ros has bought some nice fresh fish this morning. Skate wings for me an d a Dover Sole for herself. So thAT'S OUR TEA FOR TONIGHT.(sorry). I might even stay as I am now, save me having to struggle to get dressed.

I also are wondering how Ann is getting on. The break will do her good, even if she doesn't win a prize, but let's hope she does. <3 <3

Those ceiling tiles were all the rage Gill in the 60s. I am surprised anyone would PAPER over them. That will be a job and a half to get that lot off, with all that adhesive they stuck them on with. Better him than me :-D :-D :-D :-D

Back to my armchair and NAT GEO now.

Just missed you Jane I bet the girls in Italy Won't be wearing BLOOMERS this afternoon, in that heat :-D :-D :-D :-D I don't envy the men either having to wear suits.

Ros often comes home with packs of Pants.I say to her what am !!! I going to do with all these change three times a day ;-) ;-) ;-) I must have 40 pairs !!! The same with these Sports socks. Which I must admit are more comfortable than the ones that comes up your leg. But I'll never ever wear them all out !!!!
