Back from the cinema.Ann I am not sure if you would like it or not.We were a bit disappointed to be honest.Chris thought it would be better as a book.

Frank I was keeping my eye open just in case I spotted Ros going in to the theatre as everyone was trooping in.But I didn't see her.
Dirty boy leaving your greasy body marks all over the chair :-S :-S

Oh Gill what a shame you aren't feeling great.Just as Michelle is due.I expect she is there now.I bet the Chicken smells wonderful and Michelle will wolf it down :-D

I haven't had any pics from Ann showing her entries :-S

Just nipping out to get the washing in before it starts to get damp.No cooking tonight as we are still full to the brim from lunch.I just have to pop a Curry and Rice in the oven for James.

Jane

Jane Report 9 Sep 2015 18:20

Gill I was wondering if it is the removing of those poly tiles and the glue making you feel bad.The dust and stuff could be the culprits.Have you tried an antihistamine to see if that might make a difference.

Frank it sounds like you might have been a bit grumpy today LOL

Well tomorrow night James and Jess will be leaving here by 3am to drive to Luton Airport for their trip to Berlin.I wonder if they will manage to get a few hours sleep.I can imagine it is going to be a bit stresssful as James will be chivvying Jess up.She is bl**** hopeless when it comes to getting a move on.I don't know how James can be so patient with her sometimes.
Then after my haircut tomorrow afternoon it will be my turn to spread all my clothes over the spare bed :-D.I'm wondering now how much extra stuff to pack because of the rain we are going to be having :-S :-S...it will be very disappointing if we have days of rain :-(..Just have to keep everything crossed and hope the forecast is all wrong lol
I think I need to do one of my lists I normally do one listing everything I need to pack. That way I don't forget anything important.I have my flappy fan ready (just in case it is really hot)

Mandy is your side still ok today? It did sound so painful for you.

The pool liner is in and has been filling up all afternoon. I hope he has done it right as it looks a bit short one side. If it is he will have to pump all the water out and start again after moving it over a bit but it is so very heavy with it being a huge size and rubber.

Sorry to hear your not up to scratch with Michelle arriving Gill. Perhaps it is because of the stress of that ceiling and looking forward to today when she arrives. I hope you can enjoy your time together and I bet Sandra is really excited to see her sister too. Get her to take some more pictures for us to see please?

Sausages for us tonight Cumberland ones with cauli and brocc cheese and beans from the garden and new pots.

I have been mowing the from lawn while oh was sorting out the pond liner. The first time he has let me near his grass and drive the mower for so long. I thought I had broken it at one point as it was'nt cutting and I was just coming to tell him when he walked round and saw me comeing towards him. I had'nt it was because I was twisting round to see if it was cutting and there is a button under the seat which turns the blades off if your weight lifts of the seat. I did'nt know that!!!!dah Anyway he finished it off after we had a cuppa and cake.

I hav'nt got any pics of the things Ann put in the show either! :-(

Evening all,
It's been really lovely today ,i have had the back door wide open and all the windows the sun was nice i went out and did a bit of weeding and i went into the green house and finished cutting the toms down ,just got to take the bits to the tip now.

I hope your soon feeling better Gill so you can enjoy the next few days with Michelle ,perhaps you have been doing to much and it's all caught up with you .
I bet the roast chicken has gone down a treat .

You had a grumpy day Frank ? i think we all have days like that ,i know i get snappy some times with hubby ,he's not one who will argue though ,he just keeps quiet and that riles me even more .

That's an early start for James and Jess ,i hope the alarm clock works ok so they wake up in time .now that would worry me don't think i would dare go to sleep in case i didn't wake in time .
Yes Jane my pain has gone now ,i have it a couple of days and then it's gone ,i can usually feel it coming on so i start drinking plenty of wate and i drink cranberry juice too .
I will mention it to the doc next time i go as the tablets i take for my arthritis can affect the kidneys and i do have to have blood tests for the kidneys ,but the last lot of blood tests came back fine .

Lovely blue sky out there now and not a cloud in the sky .

Anyone heard from Shirl lately ? it's a while since she last posted .

I'd love to see your entries too please Ann , hope all went ok with the vicar today and you got things organised for the funeral .

Frank Report 9 Sep 2015 18:51

Well dinner is all over. I have done most of the washing up and cleaned the cooker and chopping board. Just the gravy dish to wash and drying up for Ros. I hate the gravy dish, it always has stuff stuck to the sides.

Ros had a disaster this afternoon. The seats were good but at £35.00 each so they should be. !!! both Ros and Carolyn dropped off to sleep. All the play was in one room scene, two of the actors were talking with a French accent that they couldn't understand. So all in all a wasted afternoon and £70.00 :-( :-( :-(

Dinner was very good and up to my usual standard (BIG HEAD) There is plenty of chicken over for a curry tomorrow night.

NO football on tele tonight so I am staying in. I might catch that new series on BBC one at 9.00 pm. See what happens.

Yes Jane I have been grumpy, also a shaky day. I keep catching my slipper on the rug and tripping up. I haven't managed to fall over though !!! Maybe latter <3 <3 <3

Hope you have an enjoyable few days with your daughter Gill. and that you feel up to going out and about.

Hope James and Jess enjoy their trip to Germany. That's somewhere I have never wanted to visit., and never will. I think that is something to do with my bringing up !!!!

Sewing Machine has just started up in my left ear, so I am off up the lounge end, and have a read of my book.

Jane

Jane Report 9 Sep 2015 20:05

Mandy ,it sounds a good idea to mention things to the Dr especially if your tabs effect the kidneys and your are getting the same symptoms every now and then.

I haven't heard anything from Shirl for a while now.Not even replies to pics.I do hops she is ok.

Frank those ticket prices were extortionate .Just like London prices.Shame they didn't enjoy the play.I have always wanted to see the Mousetrap.Did Ros Park in the multi-storey carpark? Did she see the new Hotel being built. It's either Holiday Inn or Premier Inn.I can't think which one now.She should have had a walk through the Derngate to have a look at the Errol Flynn Cinema. You don't even have to go outside.

Thomas is lying on the sun lounger (daft thing) so I am going to go and grab him now and get him in before he wanders off for hours.

Got him. and we have Bats flying around :-D

Gillx Report 9 Sep 2015 20:37

well the chicken went down a treat and I made a cheesecake too which has now all gone....so smiles all round. Michelle is doing Sandra's hair now, having a bit of sister time <3

Tomorrow Michelle is going to take a look at my camera as I think there maybe a way of putting the photo's onto my laptop then I'll be able to email them to everyone.

Michelle asked me the other day if I would make her some flapjacks and OH and Sandra want me to bake another cake or two, so if I feel better than I have today it'll be a baking day tomorrow. I've asked OH to pick some apples off our apple tree so I can make a couple of apple pies too. Then we're off to my mum's on Friday, all being well. I just wish I didn't feel so dizzy with a banging headache. I've started with ear ache now which might explain the dizziness. Hopefully if I can get a decent nights sleep I might feel better tomorrow.

How are you feeling now Frank, any better. Hope your day got a little better

So you were a bit disappointed with the film Jane, let's hope the next one you go to will be more to your liking. Hope Jess and James have a nice time in Berlin.

So the pond liner is in now Mel? That's a big job out of the way. Hope it's all ok and doesn't need re-doing. I'm sure it'll be fine. Fancy switching the blade off when cutting the lawn, never mind, at least you'll know for next time your OH lets you cut the grass. At least your OH finished it off for you. He's ever so good to you isn't he?

Going to get a cuppa now I'm quite thirsty

Evening All,

Oh dear Frank, in trouble again I see! We have throws on the conservatory cane chairs so OH can sit there without a top if it's hot or we can both flop there in our gardening clothes for a breather without getting the covers mucky. A throw is much more easily washed and put back than seat covers. I bet you soon got back in the good books with your lovely dinners!!

It's a shame the film was a bit disappointing Jane. You just never know sometimes. I might have a rethink.

I didn't send the entries round as you've all seen them before.......there were no new photos or paintings.

Well the lady who came wasn't a vicar, I got it wrong, she does non religious services, but we are having a couple of hymns, ones that everyone knows. Nothing worse than most not knowing a tune and mumbling quietly into their chests! I was reading the other day how some funerals even have fancy dress these days, how things are changing!!

What a shame you feel poorly Gill just as Michelle will be here. I hope it passes quickly and doesn't spoil any of your plans.

Pat you do sound busy now, it's all go isn't it! Don't forget to get your post redirected as it takes 5 working days to set up. :-) It's good to hear the workmen have got a move on now.

Glad you are better again Mandy and enjoyed the sunshine today. Most of our tomatoes that are left are near the tops of the plants now and could be picked and ripened indoors.

I had my eyes tested this morning, convinced I would need new glasses as I didn't need any last time......wrong, she said they were virtually the same. That's saved a few bob! :-) My appointment took over an hour though as they were trying to get me to have contact lenses, then a hearing test and even a flu jab!!

I'm off to watch the prog about Women next, the first one last week was very interesting.

Glad to hear your eyes are the same and you don't need new glasses Ann. So you've now got more organised for the funeral? I think you're right it is nice to have hymns that everyone knows. Fancy dress? I've never heard of that before.

I'm starting to feel a bit better now, my headache has finally gone but the ear ache and dizziness are still there. I'm off to bed now, hopefully a good nights sleep will help.

See you all tomorrow

Morning all and evening Kim,

Another lovely morning here. When I arose for a visist in the early hours I looked out the window and there was the deer wondering whether to walk past the digger parked at the end of the bungalow. I watched for a min and it moved to round the bnack of the bedroom so looked out there and there was the baby one with her. I had to go and when I came back mum was at the corner of oh's workshop eating the weeds but I could'nt see baby. I got back into bed and fell asleep again.

Hope the heads better this morning Gill. Bet those tiles were put up with glue sniffers glue and thats what is giving you the head ache.

I thought of something laying in bed last night but can't remember for the life of me what it was now. It may pop back into my little grey cellsat some point so I can post it.

I've been really busy with family research the last few days, and have finally come up with the answer to a niggling query!! I discovered an illegitimacy way back, which skewed the family tree, as illegitimate children's details always had 'father unknown', so it takes a lot of ferreting to run this parent to earth! Well, with some help on the way I've finally got this sussed so I'm feeling well chuffed and the info added to my tree.
Very misty here this morning, but hopefully the sun will break through.

Afternoon all

Lovely and sunny here today

I got up around 8am and have only just finished all the baking, I've made cake, apple pie and flapjacks so all the family are happy. We're off to the shops now as Michelle and Sandra fancy a pizza for dinner tonight, I fancy making my home made quiche so need to buy the ingredients for that too.

Glad to hear you've finally had a breakthrough with your family tree Liz. It's nice when that happens isn't it?

So you've seen the deer and her baby today Mel? Have you seen them again since this morning?

Well, this is just a quickie as everyone is waiting for me so we can go out. See you all again later <3

Afternoon all,
What a lovely sunny day we have ,summer is back though not for long the rain should
be here by the weekend.
I have been out in the garden doing some more jobs ,planted two baskets with little Violas and moved one of my big tubs round to the front where it is a bit bare ready for hubby to tip it out of the tub and plant it up for me, the blessed cats keep using that bare patch for their toliet didn't it stink !!!

I'am now sitting with my feet in a bowl giving them a nice soak as some of the potting compost went into my shoes .

Glad your feeling a little better Gill,do you think you might have an ear infection ,there's nothing worse than ear ache .

Oh Liz it's lovely when a part of the tree comes together after weeks of research ,i haven't done anything on my tree for months now ,i tend to do more in the winter months when i carn't do outside jobs.

Right just finish my foot soak then i'll have a cuppa.

Wheres Frank today ? bet he's out in the sun with his book.

Yes Mandy, I do feel chuffed! I've been after this missing link to so long and finally it's slotted into place. I have to say though that it was with the help of some very kind people on 'find the ancestors' thread, so again many thanks to them.
Sitting out this afternoon enjoying the rest of the sun while we still have it!
Hope your young people got away ok Jane! and that they have a good time. I've never been to Berlin, but I had a German pen friend when I was 14, it was a reconciliation programme that my mother was very keen to participate in run by all things the Baptist Chapel!! My S.father's parents were strict baptists and it was they who suggested and organized it. We had Inge to stay with us, one summer, and then, two years later we all went to visit her family in Stuttgart. My parents went off for a few days while I stayed with the family who were fantastic and gave me a wonderful time. Inge's father had been sent to the eastern front and had had a shocking time, so, the whole thing was an awful business on all sides, but we managed to put it behind us, and have remained in touch ever since.

Afternoon Everyone.
Phew what a hot one today.I could hardly see my hand in front of my face when I let Thomas out at 3.30am :-S.But then by about 9 the mist had all gone and the sun has been out ever since :-D..I have just got back from the hairdressers so that is that done.I have made an appointment for Saturday morning to get my nails done with that Gel Varnish so hopefully that will last for the whole holiday without chipping.

Chris had his hair cut this morning and James is having his done after work.So it has been a real hair day today.

Mandy I don't know why Cat Poo smells so bad.I think Thomas must go in varuious places in our garden as I haven't been getting whiffs.
Bet your feet feel lovley now after a good soak.I might do mine tomorrow and then cut my toe nails and varnish.

Mel that was a nice surprise to see Mum and Baby last night :-D..Nice they are still both around.

Gill you sound like you might be feeling a bit better today with all your baking and now shopping.I hope you are as you will be able to enjoy Michelles visit. So it is a Pizza night tonight :-D :-D

Liz ,you must have been thrilled to sort out that mystery.Did you actually find out the name of the Unknown Father? or did I read that wrong. How on earth did you manage that ???
I have just a blank on my birth cert where Fathers name should be .I am guessing his surname might have been McKay as that was my middle name. But who knows.
I am not bothered ,as I had my lovely Dad and he was the only one for me :-D

I LATE TODAY !!!

Went to the nurse for my bloods this morning, then onto Tesc# with Ros. I have bought her a Birthday Card. She threatened my life if I bought a card that mentioned "SEVENTY" She is so upset at reaching that age.

Mind you I give her, her dues. She doesn't look her age, and she dress's younger, always has nice hair style and makes up well when we go out. Lewis was winding her up about her age on Monday/Tuesday. Saying he would put banners all round the village Whishing "ROS A HAPPY 70th BIRTHDAY" I bet if he lived closer the little B####r would. :-D :-D :-D :-D

I think the Derngate are taking the wee wee, with their prices. I know I wouldn't pay that price for any show there. Yes Jane she parked in the Multi. and had to walk up to the Theatre. She also mentioned the HOTEL. I thought there were enough there already !!! We have got them on Jcn 15 of the M1. The Bedford Road, and I think FOUR in town.

That's good Liz, a bit more digging into your history. I know a lot of my elder relatives ended up in the workhouse, and were on the electoral roll. and the said workhouse.

I haven't done much on my Tree for a long time, I don't know how far you can go back I'm back to the 1700s now.

Like you Mandy, Ros is in the Garden as I type. She can always find things to do. I went down earlier and picked about 5 lbs of beans. I have given some to four neighbours, the rest are in the fridge. There are still plenty of flowers so might get more. We have also been handing out more Tomato's.

Glad you are feeling a bit better Gill. A nice VODKA and Tonic, Ice and a slice this evening will do you good. :-D :-D :-D

Yes Ann I don't even think about putting a cover on the chair. WHEN I get HOT I just stripe out, and flop in the chair. SMACKED HANDS from now on <3 <3 <3

I have seen is the death column in the paper that the service with be held at such a time and place and you are requested to come as this, that or the other. I have always thought it was disrespectful, but I am of the old SCHOOL. Black tie and booted and suited.!!!!

Well I have been on here too long, so will go and make Madam a COT and get back to my book 70% now read.

Jane, I got the name through managing to find out the name of the family who Rebecca was working for when she had her baby. I then presumed that the father was either the son/master of the house. I thought this because when he was an adult, illegitimate James was a farmer with 10 acres! As his maternal family were all servants, farm laborours and so on, where did 10 acres come from?! It had to be from his paternal side, and so I've spent many frustrating hours piecing it together. The 10 acres gave the game away, without this pointer, like you, I wouldn't have known where to start. I've got James's baptism note, but all that tells you is his mother and under his name is the word baseborn! Father, and occupation of father are a blank! The same with another list of births at that time in that village. He and his mother are there, but a blank space for father and his occupation. So without the 10 acre clue, I couldn't have done it. Some kind person then got the details of James marriage (not his certificate) and the name of his father was there, bingo!!

William Report 10 Sep 2015 16:45

Hi folks,

Like Magpie, I spent a little time this morning going through family history documents, census returns etc, and only then realised that my eldest Uncle (who I never actually met, he died before I was born) was on a war pension after his service with the Royal Garrison Artillery following WWI. My Uncle Ted, who was in the Marines Light Infantry was also invalided out after WWI. Funny, how we look at things and don't always see the full story until some time after.

I was thinking about all this business of the plastic bags, charging etc. We try and take our own bags most times, but some shops have got things in a carrier before you can even say 'no thank you'. So what about all these charity bags that come through our letter boxes? We average two a week but I just put them in a drawer and re-use them for something else. If I want goods to go to a charity shop, I'll take them to one of our choice. If we amass a collection of plastic bags, we usually take them to a charity shop that doesn't have it's own bags, or to our local market, they are always grateful for our spares.
So if they want to cut down on that, why don't they also cut down on all the waste paper? We get a load of stuff come through our door, take-aways, houses wanted for sale/rent, even the Royal Mail puts a load of rubbish through at least once a week. Then if we buy a TV guide, there are various bits of unwanted paper in that too! I just put it all into our recycling bin anyway. About time someone sorted that as well.

Rant over . . . :-S

My computer just did something good to stop me tearing my hair out (now, there's a joke!!!) My mouse locked up and I couldn't do anything but turn off my PC and start it again. When my screen came up for my Google internet page, it asked if I wanted to restore, which I did - and I was amazed that this text was where I had left it partially completed.

Carmel is not so well today and didn't want to go out even though it's such a nice day. She has gone for a long afternoon rest. It could be the antibiotics that the doctor gave her yesterday.

I'm amazed to se that we are still getting additions to our anniversary photos on Facebook. Gosh, I didn't know that we knew so many people. The bombshell on there today was the news that the Co-Op store in Nuneaton is to close down. We noticed that the Co-Op in Coventry is also closing down, we saw all the signs when we were in Coventry last time. It's a sad old world we live in these days.

Looking forward to WDYTYA on TV today, Gareth Malone is the person in the spotlight. He is someone that I really do admire, and having once been a chorister, I am delighted with the work that he does.

TTFN everyone.

I reckon that Hotel Frank will be very handy for performers at the Derngate Theatre. They will just be able to fall out of bed and be there in one minute !!!!

Poor Ros with you all taking the mickey out of her being 70 .I know I felt like her last year when I was 60.I never bothered about my age before that one.I would hate it if someone put banners and posters etc for my birthdays..Maybe if I get to 100 it would be fine :-D :-D.I hope I don't get there though and I'm sure Hannah and James think the same LOL
As for funerals.I don't like the idea of fancy dress. Also all black .I think it fine for people to wear what they want as long as it is reasonably smart. But times change don't they.
I remember when my Nephew in Laws neice died aged 14(she hanged herself) all her friends were in Onesies. That one was on the local news.(not because of the onesies)

Frank I can't believe you are still picking so many beans!!!!!!..You lucky thing.
The last ones we picked are ready cut up and in the fridge for tonight.

Fitz came up at lunch time for Chris to print off his Boarding Pass .We won't see him again now until we are back and he has been to the same Hotel .I still think it is such a pity he couldn't book in for the last night we are there. It would have been so nice for the 3 of us to have had a lovely meal on Lake Como together.I am betting that he might just have the same room LOL.( I think I have already said that on a previous post :-S )
I have hoovered this lounge today and dragged each bit of furniture out and done underneath everything.Cobweb Brushed all the walls. So many cobwebs (that you just can't see).I bet have still managed to miss a fair few..But I am not doing it again now.I will just have a hoover through the middle to pick up all the cat hair and crumbs.
Next jobs tomorrow will be the main bathroom and the ensuite and that will be the last bit of housework until we come home.James will keep things reasonable (well he better do :-D )
