Liz I think that is amazing how you got to the bottom of things with James..I have never neard the word baseborn before.

Ah William don't get me started on all the waste paper and bags etc.I know just how you feel. What gets me too is the amount of paper that comes with the receipt in the supermarket .One that says the shop was so much cheaper than another supermarket, another saying it was the same as another supermarket, then other bits spewing out.My purse gets so full of these bits of paper. There is hardly any room for my money !!!
All those bits that fall out of big newspapers too go straight in to recycling....I think charging now for plastic bags is a really good thing. It will make us think and remember to take our own shopping bags.
Your Anniversary photos were lovely.Love the one with you and Carmel having a bit of a snog :-D :-D..I am sorry she isn't feeling so good today.Hopefully tomorrow will be a better day.
Hadn't realised it is WDYTHYA tonight.I love that programme.
Did anyone watch Dr Foster? I thought it was brilliant.Must remember to record the next 2 programmes while we are away.

We get so much rubbish that comes through the letter box with the post nearly everyday there some , the poor postmans bag must have more rubbish than post sometimes .

Oh you have been busy cleaning Jane ,i must admit today when i pulled back the lounge door which we leave open this time of the year you should have seen the cobwebs in the corner :-0
i was glad there was no one here to see them :-D

I'd love to see your Anniversary photo's William as i'am not on face book .
Hopefully Carmel will feel better tomorrow so you can both have a little trip out while the weather is good.

I'am walking on air now after giving my feet a nice soak, they feel so good now ,nails had a good trim and i varnished them too.

We still have small runner beans growing and lots more flowers coming along , i think we use to still be picking in october years ago.

Suns still shining and again like last night there is a lovely blue sky.

SOAPS for TWO HOURS including one recording. It's enough to drive me to the pub every night. ;-) ;-) ;-)

Don't know what went wrong with her curry tonight, but certainly not up to her usual standard. Most went in the food caddy :-D :-D :-D So we will both want supper tonight.

It's been a fantastic day today, wall to wall sunshine, and a lovely sunset this evening.

I don't know why I am doing so well with my beans. I can't remember the variety I used, but they have certainly produced. Do you think it helps bringing them on in pots in the spring ??? I have still got three bags of potato's to empty. I must do that tomorrow.

Liz you have done so well delving back in your G G grandfathers past. How far do you go back now ???

I can see when I get started again on my tree, Ann and Mel will be busy keeping up with my PLEASE can you find this or that :-D :-D :-D Thanks girls in advance <3 <3 <3

I think I will put the Tele. on in the conservatory, to see if I can find something I want to WATCH.

How's the day gone Gill having Michelle at home with you and the family ???

Regarding Rubbish Paper, I have a note on my door NO PAPERS OR BROCHURES. Including advertising. I don't know if they take any notice. BUT if I get unsolicited post. I write across it RETURN TO SENDER. or NOT KNOWN AT THIS ADDRESS. That certainly helps.

When are you off Jane ???

Frank, I've got back to 1730 on my paternal grandfather's side and1800 on my paternal grandmother's side. Her family came from southern Ireland (county cork) so researching them gets a bit trickier!! 1757 on my maternal grandfather's side and 1822 my maternal grandmother's side. I've also delved into other family members ancestry, including OH's!! I've got three exercise books full of this and that and I must go through them and get it all into some sort of order! My baseborn GGG grandfather has been a great coup as I've been on his trail for years!!!

I am pleased you found the name at last Liz. I did have a lookwhen you asked me but could only find what I sent you. I think Baseborn is much nicer than Bas**rd.

Was busy today helping oh and then I had to go to Holsworthy for chicken food and bank some cheques. Bought two new polo neck cotton jumper type things for the winter. I do like my cotton and don't get on with polyester at all.

Brought fish and chips in for dinner and then oh went to bed very early and I went up the border to water some plants I put in the other day.

It is very warm here tonight so I think I shall go and have a nice shower and watch a bit of telly maybe with a nice glass of port.

See you in the morning night night.

Evening All,

We save unwanted charity bags for paper shreddings for the smallholding. I use others to take clothes to charity shops. We re-use all our carrier bags as they fit our kitchen waste bin. You can tie the handles with the rubbish in and it keeps the wheelie bin clean when you put them in it.

The S*ga magazine used to be one of the worst for advertising inserts. Years ago I counted 32 in one copy once. I'm the same with my purse too Jane! The C*op and W H S*ith seem to spurt out lots of coupons and offers with their receipts and receipts themselves are so long now as well. Remember when you didn't automatically get a receipt for lots of things unless you asked? Certainly not in pubs. It's all the packaging as well that's often stronger than the goods in it. Most of it isn't necessary. In fact we wouldn't need so many shopping bags if they cut down the packaging.

William I didn't know the big C*op at Nuneaton was closing. It did seem rather run down in there when we were looking for nighties for MIL a few weeks ago. Unbelievably. we have 2 food Co*ps in our village and they are opposite each other!! They both seem to do a roaring trade as one has the Post Office in there and the other opens later hours. Yes I'd like to see your photos too please!

I had a dentist appointment first thing and was so pleased when he was saying my teeth were really good etc...........then he did a couple of xrays!! :-S I need a filling under the edge of a crown on a back tooth that he says is on it's way out but a filling may keep it going a bit longer! :-S MORE EXPENSE.

I hope you feel a lot better tomorrow Gill. You did well to get all those things baked. Pizzas will be easy and you've set me off wanting one now after mine ended up on the floor the other day.

That was great to solve that mystery Liz....no wonder you are so chuffed! A bit of success spurs you on to delve into other mysteries then. I've got back to the late 1500s with one direct ancestor line and have a book that has some information about him and his family. He was the Quaker born in 1680 and one of the earliest settlers in Pennsylvania. I've only got back to my gt gt grandfather on dad's father's side of the family though. Which reminds me wasn't the WDYTYA about Gerry Hall fascinating.....real cowboys and indians!

I know how Ros feels about her 70th Frank, mine is only a couple of years away and I'm dreading it already. Still, some poor souls never get there so I suppose we should be thankful. You are right though, she doesn't look or act her age and takes good care of herself which is the most important thing. Some can be 20 years younger, but seem very old in their outlook and how they live. :-)

Off to bed now........hope Mel is keeping up the good work!

Hi all

What a busy time you've all had today, with all your cleaning and family tree's.

Michelle has been helping me with my camera and I think I Know how to put the photo's on my laptop now and also how to put them into emails. My camera is full so I can't take anymore until I have deleted some of them, but at least I now know how to do that too.

Michelle has taken a look at a phone I had given me but I need to get another sim card for it before I can use it properly. She said that if I take photo's on it they may not be as good a quality as my camera, so I'll have to hurry up and delete some of the photo's off the camera so I can take some to email to everyone in the future. I'm so grateful to Michelle for all her help.

I've felt much better today and have realised why I felt so bad yesterday. OH sprayed something on the bathroom ceiling to remove some mould and it had bleach in it, plus he did some gloss painting, so apart from a bit of ear ache (which has now thankfully gone) I think all the other symptoms I had were because of all the fumes.
We're all at my mum's tomorrow so I might not be on much. Michelle goes home on Saturday so I'll have a bit more time to post on here then.

Well, we're all tired now, so I'm signing out.
See you all tomorrow

Morning all and evening Kim,

Not so nice here today as we have grey skies but it is not raining yet.........watch this space as we are suppose to have some in the afternoon.

Liz I did wonder why you never said anything about Rebecca and James so I gave up! Thought you must have had all that I sent. I may try again and you can let me know if you get it please.

I have a huge pile of ironing to do today. With the new washer doing a very quick wash is great as you can get so much done but it dos'nt do the ironing too! :-0 :-0 ;-) ;-) ;-)

It's his polo shirts and my t shirts and the pillow cases which I shall need when I change the beddng. His shirt are getting bigger and I could iron two of his other smaller ones to one of these new ones.

Morning my sweet things, and evening sweet Kim <3 <3 <3

Beautiful morning here. Clear sky with a cool breeze. the conservatory windows were all misty this morning so I expect we had a chilly night.

Liz and Ann you do seem to have got a long way back with your family history. I think I go back further with Ros's family that I do with my own.

I know there are over 20 siblings on my mum and dads side, that's without the parents families. A lot came from the East End of London and Epping, Essex. I keep promising I will go to Coopersale, a small hamlet outside Epping, where a lot of my mothers family came from. A look through the church register might give me more information. Whether I will ever get there who knows. !!!

I think Pizza goes down on my ONCE LIST. together with Mc D, Subwa# KFC and the likes. WIMPEY was the first I had and didn't like that either. Good job we are not all the same, or they would be out of business :-D :-D :-D I love my Chinese, Indian and good old F & C. I'm a bit of an old fuddy duddy when it comes to that.

Sorry that I dashed off, It was Jan on skype. SHE HAS HAD A SMALL STROKE down her right side. She has had an MRI scan and is going back this morning for the results.. The doctor said she must not drive, so how she is going to manage I don't know.

She has the builders putting the new staircase in, so is virtually confined to the bedroom. as the doors to the lounge and dining rooms are block off. I assume she can still get to the kitchen as the moment. She had mentioned about staying with a relative for a few days.

We have offered to go down to help is we can, but she says there is no bedroom for us to sleep in, and all we could do would be sit in her bedroom.

My, you never know what's round the corner. I expect Conrad is doing a bit. being out in Spain. Whether he will come home, I don't know, or he might wait and see how she progresses.

Mel, your weather is moving North and East, so you should have better weather later this afternoon. We will have your RUBBISH later :-D :-D :-D

Well coffee is calling. I had a nice egg and bacon sandwich for breakfast this morning, that will see me through until tonight. Now I have to think what we will have. I do wish Madam would suggest something some times. Ah, perhaps liver and onions with creamy mash and pea. That will make a change. We haven't had that for a few weeks.

Oh Lord Frank, I am sorry to hear that. Has Jan got high blood pressure or perhaps stress has been the problem? How is she managing with the little dog?
We've just got back from Waitrose, and the meat bargains were fantastic, some joints at half price, and a lot at a third discount! so we've spent a fortune, but it should last for months!!
Hairdresser this afternoon, apart from that, a peaceful weekend, we hope!!
Mel, you should have said when I didn't reply to your search!! Nothing has come from you so far, but perhaps you haven't done it yet! I'll certainly let you know when it does.

Afternoon Everybody, Evening Kim,

Don't know if I am coming or going these days, it's all busy busy here, what with Sofia's birthday last weekend, and my 60th next monday,

Also I have visitors arriving on Tuesday who I have never met before, a few months ago I was doing research on Ancestry , when another member commented on a photo of a gravestone I had added to someone on my tree, I was told that the grave belong to his great grandparents, and he was delighted to see it,
This person lives in Australia and mentioned he was coming to Great Britain in September for a holiday and planed to visit family graveyards and family homes in the town where I live, so I said I would be very happy to take them on a tour of graveyards etc , so you can imagine how excited they were, so they were in London visiting relatives, then arrived in Edinburgh yesterday and coming to Hamilton next Tuesday, they want to take me to lunch and then go looking around Hamilton etc.
OH has been able to make arrangements so that he gets home early from work and join us on our tour, , I am really glad as I feel a little uncomfortable being on my own anyway he knows directions on how to get to places,

Annx Report 11 Sep 2015 15:24

Afternoon All,

Oh goodness Frank, poor Jan being on her own and have something happen like that. Hopefully it's a very mild one and she'll recover well. If all else fails she could get a taxi to the hospital and back. Conrad must be wanting to get home and be in a dilemma as to what to do, but I expect the MRI scan results will help with any decision. What a shock for you all.

There's only the maternal side of dad's family I've got so far back with yet. Some people have traced that line back further to 1395 and to a 'Sir' with a coat of arms born in York, but I've yet to check that.. There also seems to be strong connections with Ireland that far back so it could explain all the Irish in my DNA test! lol.

It will be an interesting meeting for you Fiona and lunch bought for you too! Will they buy your OH lunch as well? It will help them no end having someone who knows where to go and look. I must say I thought you were much younger than nearly 60, but, silly me, I tend to think peoples' ages stay at what they are when I first know them.

We have been to Nuneaton today as I wanted to look at other things to wear for the funeral next week. I have 2 things that would suitable and now have a third choice! If I don't wear what I got today I shall take it back. We also sussed out where exactly the crematorium is It's in the nicest setting I've seen, surrounded by trees and shrubs and nice lawns and has colourful flower borders. On the way home OH got a call from the stair lift people to say they'd had a cancellation and could they come and take the stair lift out at MIL's so he dropped me off and has shot over there now. Then I think he'll be going on to a match from there if it doesn't take too long. Monday an estate agent is coming to do a valuation so things are moving on. I think after the coming week we can start clearing the place.

OH did work hard while I was out yesterday, cleaned the bathroom and hoovered all through the bungalow. Pruned no end in the garden and bagged it all up for the tip and picked tomatoes.

More news on the builder! An estate agent was here yesterday and a neighbour said they are advertising the plan for 3 properties. :-S That means the end neighbours are going to have to watch he doesn't sneak any of their gardens to help with the sharp turns there will have to be. We are also back in the scenario of him having to dig up and strengthen the road so will have to watch our boundaries. We also don't know how we stand with maintaining the road when there are 3 more properties using it. We were also shocked at the prices he'll be asking which is £325,000 for the bungalows!! They are smaller than ours with less land, have no en suite or conservatory and the lounge, diner and kitchen is all in one room like they are tending to build round here these days. We don't think he'll get it!! ;-)

William

William Report 11 Sep 2015 15:42

Afternoon all.

OK, I'll send out our few photos of our anniversary day so if you all get them, I apologize in advance if you see them twice..

I think I had heard the term 'baseborn' before, it seems to fit the bill without sounding insulting I think. Heaven knows, these days, I'm not sure what must be on a good many birth certificates when it seems the kids come first in a lot of cases and with the wind in the right direction, a marriage may come any time following !!!

Well, we watched WDYTYA last night and were really nicely surprised in the end when Gareth ended up in the Olympia Theatre in Dublin. Carmel's younger sister worked there as box officer manager for years and on our visits, we have twice seen shows there. The last time we saw Gilbert & Sullivan's Mikado and were in the box on the left hand side, quite easy to spot in that filming. Carmel felt quite at home.

Yes Ann, the dear old Nuneaton Co-Op is to close ending years of trading. We were there today and had our lunch up in the cafe, which is housed in the original art deco part that juts out in Queens Road. It will be a shame if they pull that down like they did the beautiful Co-Op Dance Hall which held many happy memories for me. If it had been in London, it would have been most certainly preserved, like the Hoover building is out on the A40. Sorry to say, that Carmel really shouldn't have been out today, it took her all her time to get back to where our car was parked in Bond Gate.

Getting back to all the waste paper and plastic bags. We also use plastic bags in our waste bin, then tie them neatly to go in the main collection bin. I'll get round that problem when the time comes, I hate smelly bins. On the 'paper trail', we are always getting large envelopes of junk mail from Virgin, BT and Sky, trying to get us to sign up with them. If it's not that it is various charity organisations that we have made a donation to in the past, bombarding us with even further donation seeking mail. These people should know that they are only shooting themselves in the foot.

Frank, like yourself, most of my relatives came from various parts of the East End, Bethnal Green, Hackney, Shoreditch etc etc - and even though my Dad & his brothers were born in Southwark, I know that his parents previously lived in Bethnal Green. It was the same with my paternal grandmothers family, although I can put them all in Southwark as a family of boot and shoe makers, they also at one time lived 'over the water'. You should take your trip to Coopersale, bring back memories. Say hello to it from me too, as I used to cycle through there from my home in Chadwell Heath, back to my RAF camp at North Weald as I held a 'sleeping out' pass. It used to take me about an hour to do the trip. I still remember all the places from my young days and when they crop up on the travel reports, I always think to myself, yes, I know where that is, been there, not got the T shirt.

Will sign off now, things to do and all that.

TTFN.

Frank

Frank Report 11 Sep 2015 16:13

Oh Fiona, I don't know whether to say, you should have kept your mouth shut , regarding the tour :-D :-D :-D :-D :-D or say Hope you enjoy the meet and that you get along with them. It must be very difficult, when you have only meet on your Family Tree. I expect they will be nice people and I hope good company while you are with them.

I remember an Aunt of Ros's mums coming over from Australia for a visit, when her mum had Cancer. I couldn't believe what an OLD BAT she was. She expected mum to wait on her hand and foot. It got to the point where Ros told her she had outstayed her WELCOME and would she please move on. :-( :-( :-( :-( We never heard from her again, She was there a MONTH and you could see it was killing MIL. She came from the outback somewhere,

I have just spoken to SHIRL. She is fine, and the reason she isn't posting it that she can't read the posts, because of her eyes. She sends her love to everyone and says she will try to post even if it's only to say "GOOD MORNING" now and again.

Ann I can see it all kicking off again with the builder. Your neighbour want to put a Chain Link Fence down their boundary line, so he can't encroach onto their land. If he does, they can call the police and have them stopped.

You are well on the way to getting everything sorted with the house, did the firm get the stair lift out in time ??? I would hate for the OH to miss his match :-D :-D,

Regarding the house prices. You should get your property valued. You might have a big shock what yours is worth. ;-) ;-) ;-) You might be a Millionaire as Del Boy would say :-D :-D :-D

Ros is still beavering away in the garden, I have told her to pack up and come in, all she says "I'll just do this bit" and carries on regardless .

The little nose piece on my glass's has just broken off. I will have to find my spare pair, that I have never worn, as where it has broke a fine bit of wire is pricking my nose. :-P :-P

Frank that is a shock.Poor Jan.It must be a fairly mild stroke if she is able to be at home on her own.I wonder if it is the kind that the symptoms can disappear in 24hours or so.I do hope so.It might be a good idea for her to stay with a friend just for a day or 2 as she said she might.

Fiona I thought you still had a couple of years to go before your 60th !!!!.Good job you mentioned it :-D...That will be so nice for your visitors to be taken around the places they want to visit. They will be thrilled you are able to do that for them :-D

So 3 outfits to chose from Ann :-D.I bet you will decide on the day. What day is the funeral? and that bulider has reared his ugly head again :-S :-S

I think I will have Scrambled eggs and Baked Beans tonight.Chris has been out for lunch with Sue his old collegue .He said that her 14 yr old son broke both his wrists in the first week of the school holiday when he did Snow Boarding at the indoor Ski place at Milton Keynes.Poor lad <3.Both arms in casts for the whole of the summer.

James and Jess arrived safely in Berlin this morning, and say the apartment is really nice.I heard them up and about just after 2am and was going to get up to say goodbye but thought better of it.Even Thomas stayed asleep just outside of bedroom on the landing. He is funny as he seems to sleep in different places each night.

Must go now ,more things to do .So will BBL
