Morning all
Dull day here and it looks like it might rain. The ground is wet so we've had some rain in the night.
Sorry to hear about your granddaughter Ruby, how did she lose two toes, that must of been a horrible accident? Hope she feels better soon and your daughter recovers quickly from her hip replacement op too.
Yes Michelle is very independent and to honest I'm really proud of her, but for some reason she didn't seem like she wanted to be here the last time she visited. I can only come to the conclusion that she was missing her new boyfriend. They have only been seeing each other for about six weeks and you know what it's like, you want to be together all the time. I'm sure in time things will settle down between us all....well, hopefully anyway.
We are thinking of renting in Devon just to make sure we do like it. I suppose it's completely different living there against a holiday, so it will give us a chance to see if it suits us. We can always rent our property out for six months and rent in Devon for the same amount of time, we'll have a better idea of the area by then and my OH said if we wanted to come back he's sure the job he's in now would have him back and we'd still have our bungalow to come back to as well. If on the other hand we like it and want to stay we can put this place on the market and let the agent sell it while still renting in Devon then once it's sold we can they buy somewhere down south and stay. It's nice to have the two options while we find our feet, so to speak.
I'm doing all the filler on the ceiling and walls today, OH has finished all the sanding and has just wiped the ceiling down for me, to remove anymore dust that might still be there from yesterday. So that's my day sorted ;-)
The filler will be dry by tomorrow so OH can make a start on painting the ceiling and then I can wallpaper the wall for him to paint. We're hoping to have everything back to normal before OH goes back to work in a week. It'll be nice to finally have all the furniture back in it's correct rooms and be straight again after 6 months of being upside down with all the sorting and decorating we've done lately.
What's everyone else up to today? Did anyone get the tail end of Hurricane Henri? The weather here last night was a bit bad but not for long, so I don't think we got it. Just wondering if it was bad elsewhere in the country, as I've not seen the news today yet?
Off to get a cuppa now, then make a start on the filler BBL <3

Morning all and evening Kim,
Hi to Ruby and so nice to hear from you. How on earth did your grandaughter loose two toes?? What an awful experience. Ruby are you having a property built on the land of the house you are in now?
It s dry here today and quite dull with grey sky.
Oh has gone outside with his square and pencil so he must be going to put some more wood on the edge of the pond. Mind you all the wood on the trailer looks soaked after the rain we have had so it will be much heavier than it was before.
As I went into the bedroom yesterday late afternoon there were two big rabbits in the back field so I took the gun out to the workshop peeped through the little pop hole and with the first shot I got one. Second and third shots were pants and I missed both times but one down I thought was good. I hung it in the apple tree in the orchard and Di is picking it up today to cook for her dogs.

Afternoon all,
Where do I start. Yesterday is as good as any place. :-D :-D
Left here at 11.20 for my eye test 12.20 pm Arrived in poring rain and got soaked. Very thorough eye test, over an hour. Then he put those horrible drops in my eyes. I had to wait another half hour for them to work. We went to M & S for coffee. As I sat there everywhere just got blurred and I had to get out of there. I went back in to Spe# saver# to finish my test. I really couldn't see across the room when I came out. Ros had gone for the car, and I didn't see her turn up to pick me up. More torrential rain coming home. In fact we had a "TWISTER" in Northampton. A poor rabbit in his cage got sucked up and dropped some way away. Roofs were damaged and tiles ripped off Roofs.
When I got home I sat in a darkened room with a cover over my eyes till after 6.00 pm. It's not an experience I want to go through in a HURRY.
I was pleased that Tony took me to the pub to see WEST HAM. Even though I didn't see very well.
They seem fine this morning, but my glass's are not good, so will go back tomorrow to choose new frames. I am having to have EIGHT PRISMNS put in my glass's this time instead of Six.
Nice to hear from you Ruby, Hope your down sizing goes to plan.
Did I mention I spoke to Shirl ?? She is sorry she's not posting but her eyes won't let her. She sends her love to all, and I of course sent yours to her.
Gill think of the "THREE LITTLE PIGS" The wolf said "I'LL HUFF AND I'LL PUFF TILL I BLOW YOUR HOUSE DOWN" Now you know where huff came from :-D :-D
I see "ANNIE OAKLEY" is at it again, poor little bunny ;-) ;-) ;-) One less to eat the flowers.!!!
Talking of flowers, I have ordered 20 red ROSES for Ros for Saturday, together with the painting from Tony and a new Mobile Phone. So I hope she will be pleased. (for a change) :-D :-D :-D :-D Only joking !!!!
Jan rang this morning more results from the MRI. She has had a BRAIN BLEED and is not able to drive for at least THREE MONTHS. So she won't be coming up for Ros's Birthday.
She will be coming here with her daughter on the 25th as she has to meet Conrad at the NEC on the 26th for a big exhibition. So I expect we will be taking and fetching them from there until it finishes. Jo (Jan's daughter) will pick her up from here to take her back to Devon, PLUS she is unable to fly also. So no going out to see Conrad. I expect we will sort it out somehow. :-0 :-0 :-0 Good old Mum and Dad.
Is it today you have your visitors Fiona, I hope it goes well.
Ann, I think you said it is an early funeral for MIL. In case I don't speak to you before. I hope it all goes well, and I will be thinking of you both. <3 <3
Neighbour has just taken a line of washing in. IT'S been out since SUNDAY. With all that rain yesterday it will need washing again. !!!
Carolyn and Ros are on their tour of the banks (Carolyn) Then on to Garden Centre for lunch. Tesc# them home about 5.00. I have told her to get something from the "finest" range to save me cooking tonight.
Going to see if I can finish my book now 98% through it !!!!

Nice to see you have finally made a post without losing it all Frank :-D Are you still on your laptop or did you give up in the end and go back to your PC? So your glasses are still not right then? Hope you get them sorted soon, it must be a nuisance not being able to see properly. Did West Ham win last night? Hope they did, that would of made your day ;-)
Sorry to hear about Jan, that must of been a shock to find out she had a bleed on her brain, hope she's ok soon. Are they doing something about the bleed?
I saw the twister on the news last night, that poor rabbit, is it ok......well, as ok as it can be that is?
I'm still filling in all the holes we ended up with when we scrapped the glue off the ceiling I have decided to do all the big ones then wait for OH to paint a couple of coats of paint, that way I'll be able to see if anymore needs doing, it's hard to tell at the moment and I don't want to waste my filler if it doesn't need it, plus my neck is killing me. I have to keep stopping for breaks.
I'm just having yet another break with a nice cup of tea. OH and Sandra nipped out this morning and have just got back, the sun is out now so I'm going to ask OH to pick the apples off the big apple tree as they are starting to fall and I don't want them all bruised, then I can stew them later and freeze them. I'll make the apple crumble I was going to make yesterday as well, that'll please Sandra :-D
See you all later <3

Afternoon All,
Sunshine here at the moment, but I doubt it will last.
Well we were really annoyed this morning when the post came and OH opened a condolence card to find it was from his EX WIFE and after 25 years since they split up!!!! OH stuck it straight in the shredder in disgust. He had to give his mother a talking to years ago after she'd heard his ex wife's own mother had died. She happened to say she was adding OH's name to a wreath she'd decided to send!! He was really cross with her wanting to be doing things on his behalf like that and made it clear then, as he always had, that he wanted nothing to do with his ex, she was a mistake he made in the past, they had no children so why would he want to keep in touch? This card had been sent to MIL's house and addressed to FIL and both of us, so she obviously knew FIL was still alive. That means, unknown to us, MIL has carried on keeping in touch with her and will have been reporting back snippets of gossip about our lives to her all these years. I feel so let down by MIL it is all I will be able to do to attend her funeral tomorrow. As it is, we will both be looking over our shoulders all the time now in case this woman and her partner turn up there. :-S
I hope your new glasses are super duper with all those prisms Frank. I hate having those drops in your eye, the bright light is awful afterwards. So the MRI Jan had does show a small bleed. It's a bit of a blow for her not being able to fly or drive for now and I hope she will be able to again after the 3 months. That twister must have been quite close to you and powerful to lift the rabbit hutch. You are doing really well with your book now so must be enjoying it. :-)
A chap in the city near here has dug a live bomb up in his drive!! He spoke to a friend or rellie who is/was in the army and he said 'call the police!!' After evacuating everyone nearby, they exploded it in a nearby field.
Oh Mel I don't think I could shoot things unless they were going to eat me!! I would also be so scared of someone I hadn't seen stepping in the way and me shooting them instead as well!!
Yes, Ruby it sounds like you are building another place on your own land. I'm glad your daughter is doing well afetr her hip replacement, but how awful for your poor grandaughter to lose her toes.

What a shock that must of been Ann seeing the card. Very strange your MIL kept in touch if there were no children involved. I don't blame you both for being cross. I doubt she'll turn up to the funeral as she wouldn't know where or when it was. How did she know MIL had died, who told her? Even if she does show up, just ignore her, don't let her spoil the day, it's going to be hard enough without the stress of her turning up or not. I hope everything goes well for you both tomorrow, my thoughts are with you. Hope you get the sunshine and it doesn't rain <3
My neck is really sore now, I'm almost finished and wish I hadn't asked OH and Sandra to pick the apples, Sandra has put them all in bags and they cover half the kitchen floor, it's going to take an age to peel them all. I just hope I have enough space in the freezer to store them...........Anyone want any apples? :-D :-D :-D LOL
I'm just having another break and might take some painkillers. The room is almost finished so I should only be another hour, then I'll make a start on some of these apples. I doubt I'll get them all done today, so will have to finish them off tomorrow. I could open a shop with the amount I've got. I don't remember having this many in the past :-S
Going to get a cup of tea now and I'll have to start thinking about dinner soon too BBL

I've just counted the apples and I've got 20 Iceland bags of apples and there are still loads more to bag up. Even OH said we've never had this many. The small apple tree can wait before we pick them. OH has just put the bags outside for now, so we can make a cuppa.

We ended up with 22 bags of apples and there's still some more on the tree. They can stay there for the birds and squirrels, they're right at the top 40 foot in the air and OH said he thinks we have enough. I agree with him. I was thinking of putting some at the end of our drive with a note saying free to anyone who wants them. I'll give some to my mum and aunty first and of course keep the ones I want.
Well I've had my cuppa and painkillers, which have started to work so I'll get back to the filler then make an apple crumble and sort out dinner. OH is putting the apples in the garage, I'll just keep enough for the crumble and peel the rest tomorrow....I think it's going to be a long job ;-) <3

I'll swap some apples for some chocolate brownies Mel :-D :-D. Sound like your OH is getting on well with his shed. I bet Di was pleased with the rabbit?
The sun's still out here and it's quite warm with it. I can't believe how much the tree branches have risen now all the weight of the apples has been taken off. OH has been picking up apples off the grass for weeks that have dropped off and has just said he thinks there must of been at least another 30 bags of them, so we really have had a good crop this year. Good job I've got some space in my freezer.
Right, back to the filler now, I'll be glad when this room is finished I'm getting really fed up of it now :-(

BUSY then Gill, When I lived at Gayton I had three Victoria/golden plum trees. I would pick them and put a washing basket full on the table at the top of the drive with loads of carrier bags. I also took loads to works for everyone and to the football club. Ros would make lbs of jam as well.
I haven't done a thing today. apart from showering. I had a breakfast of Sausages, fried potato's two eggs, baked curry beans, and two slices of toast. So as you can guess I didn't have lunch. :-D :-D
Spoke to my old fried this afternoon. His two grand daughters who live in the USA have made a recording on U tube and Face Book. Under the name of SALLY and MOLLY. very good and such pretty girls. He is as proud as Punch. ;-) ;-) ;-)
Gill my FIL use to wrap his apples in tissue and store them in his garage. You could try that. He was able to keep them through the Winter.
Poor neighbour. She put another line of washing out and then DOWN came the rain. The silly woman had left her door open and the rain was going straight in onto her CARPET. !!!!
Ann I can understand how you and Gordon must have felt. What a nerve to send a card after all these years, and as you say who has kept her informed of MIL death . Spy's everywhere, I bet someone will report back to her how the funeral goes. :-( :-(
I fell out BIG TIME with my TWIN SISTER. when my mother died. She would not let me know any arrangements, and insisted my X went to the funeral, as SHE had been so good to my Mother since we split. TWO FACED COW !!! She couldn't stand my mum when we were together. So needless to say I didn't go to the funeral, and never spoke to my twin again.
We have had a couple of really heavy showers this afternoon, and the black clouds are hovering above. I've had the table lights on all afternoon, so I expect it will get dark earlier.
I haven't got my new glass's yet. I have to go back and pick the frames and then have them made. In the meantime I am trying to manage with out any, and just use the old ones when I am desperate.

Ann it was on my ground and nobody would be walking where I shot it and it was only an air rifle anyway. If you could see what they do to my flower border you would understand why. We are overun with them but my neighbour who now grows cut flowers dos'nt get them in their garden strangly enough mind you their flower beds are up by their house.
Rain stopped play with oh and his shed so he came in and had a piece of brownie and a coffee then went off into his study for a while and has just surfaced and gone back out.
What a blimmin cheak G's ex sending condolenses to you all and I wonder how she found out?

No apples needed here Gill as we have a small orchard with apple trees and mostly Bramleys but they are very old now. Our two damson trees hav'nt done much this year again. Nothing to speak of last year and this year what there is on there have split withso much rain. The Victoris plum just outside the main garden has silverleaf and needs cutting down and the one in the garden at the top of the orchard also has silverleaf and needs cutting down and I told him that two years ago. They have fruit but it goes off very quickly after picking if not eaten straight away.
The best little old tree is the plum on the south facing wall in my border. Never fails even this year it had a few on it. It is so old and twisted with only a few branches but its plums are supurb small but o so tasty fresh or cooked and the wasps like them too.

Evening all,
It's been quite a nice day after a little drizzle first thing .
Goodness Ruby your poor granddaughter how did she lose two toes ,i must be so painful for her . Gosh there's you with the severe drought and we should have heavy rain tomorrow .
Gill, you can store those apples ,just make sure they are really dry ,lay them out in trays or wrap each apple in newspaper ,just make sure they don't touch each other and they should keep for ages ,i stored some last year and they were still fine well after christmas ,it would save filling your freezer up .
I wonder if Fiona had a nice birthday and how the tour with the Australians went ,i expect she will let us know later .
Frank, i wondered if you could maybe fix some thing on the old glasses just to tied you over until you get the new ones ,it must be annoying to be with out glasses .
It was a bit strange OH's EX sending a card after all this time Ann ,i wonder how she found out about MIL ? did the under taker put a piece in the death announcements in the paper ? I can quite understand how it must have upset you both . Will be thinking of you both tomorrow ,i hope it all goes off ok ,i think its so sad though that for your FIL it will be just another day bless him <3 <3
I bought some plums from the market this morning ,i stewed them up and hubby had some with some Greek Yogurt for afters tonight .

Thanks everyone for Birthday wishes & cards that you have sent,
I had a busy birthday yesterday, cleaning and getting sorted out for my visitors from Australia who we met today, also did a coffee duty down at the church and was surprised by a friend who came in with 2 birthday balloons, flowers cards and gift,
Today went great, lovely couple in their middle 60's who are traveling around the UK visiting homes of relatives and sight seeing and visiting other places where Ian's ancestors lived in London and stopping of at York to visit the shambles and museum and of course coming to Hamilton/Blantyre to visit cemeteries and to see places where our shared Ancestors lived. They treated my Frank & I to our lunch, to say thank you for me doing all the research here and offering to take them around, so glad everything went well & the rain stayed away and we only had to cope with a chilly wind. :-D :-D
Looking forward to taking things easy tomorrow , and meeting up with the usual friends for coffee,
