I'm alright JACK !!! The drizzle turned into full blown RAIN and poor Ros got stuck in the greenhouse, I was just about to call down the garden to say I will bring an umbrella, when she came up the lawn soaked through. She had to shower and change.

Conrad will visit even if he doesn't stay. He is a very caring person, and loves his mum to death. !!!

We now have a bag of ripe tomato's which I will take to the pub. They cook them down for the base of their pizza's On Saturday she gave me a pint for a small bag. So tonight I might get TWO with all the toms I have. :-D :-D :-D

There you go Pat. All settled in before you know it. Don't forget to notify everyone who should know about change of address. i.e. T.V. licence. Insurance. Inland Revenue etc. and all us LOT lol

My bottom gum is still hurting even though I haven't had my teeth in today.

It's turned into a fine evening here. Lots of blue sky, so I expect it to turn cold later.

It sounds like you are really on top of everything out there Ruby. How long do you think it will take to get the plans passed and alterations to begin ??

Ann, that must be very pleasing, having found out so much Family History. Is it likely that you will go to Yorkshire to see if you can find more out about your history ?? It might make a nice weekend trip, for you and Gordon. ;-) ;-) ;-)

Our friend John has been recalled to hospital about his heart. He has been wearing a monitor for a couple of days. Now it's gone back to the Hospital. They phoned today for him to go on Wednesday Morning. I do hope it's not serious.

The painting of Tony's just needs the outside frame changing to gold colour to blend in with the rest of the paintings we have around the room. I will approach the subject if I go down the pub tonight. I am sure the chap who frames his paintings has "GOLD COLOUR ONES" or can make one. I will pay of course.

Two hours of SOAPS again tonight. So I think I will go out. !!!

Evening all,

It's been a miserable gloomy day here , been raining since just after lunch and so dark and cold with it ,we have the wood burner going .

When i went shopping the other day i noticed they now have security tags on all the baskets , i only wanted a few things so i picked up a basket and the tag got all twisted so i couldn't hold the handles of the basket together ,the lady came over to help and i ask if it was because people were stealing the baskets ,she said they were on the baskets because we will soon have to pay 5p for carrier bags and they think people will just put their shopping in the baskets and walk out with them instead of buying a carrier bag !! i always use my own bags i just keep them in the back of the car .

Gill is still on the apple run i see :-D it will be handy having the other freezer for things especially at christmas , you must have a full bin now with all the apple peelings .

So the builder is still clearing his bit of land ready to build then Ann ,what a shame the trees had to go .
I notice in our churchyard they cut little squares of grass out ready for ashes to be placed there ,but there's no markers , the grass is just placed back so they could be mixed with other ashes .

Not sure what you could rub on your gums Frank ,have you tried Anbesol from B*ots ? that's for mouth ulcers and denture irritation .
I'am sure a few beers tonight will help to ease the pain :-D
They are both lovely pictures Ros had for her birthday .

We have to get the Sant*x for the shed tomorrow ,it's discount day at Hom*base tomorrow so we'll get a little money off ,every little helps !!

I think the rain has stopped at last ,it's really dark tonight too.

I got that too Gill.

I have a dozey fly that keeps flying into my face as I sit here at the pc. Shall have to get my swot out.

Ruby yes I member Grannie Clampett. I liked that program.

Wonder what Liz has been up to today?

Oh has been working on the roof of the shed today. He has put an old tarp on and some roof battens for the tin roof.

Ruby are you having something built on the grounds of your house?

We are having hot dogs for dinner tonight.

I have hurt my wrist and can hardly lift things withit and it even hurts whist typing. I don't know if I have sprained it or just bruised it. I did do a bit of hedge trimming of the end of the big box hedge and some of the branches were quite big so perhaps I have shocked it!! Thak goodness it is my left hand. I can't pick up the water filter jug and have to use two hands for lots of things.

Annx

Annx Report 21 Sep 2015 20:17

I think it's very likely we may visit Frank and Ruby. We love the Yorkshire Dales, but I think this place is much further east than we have been before. I would like to see the churchyard in case any were buried there, although I doubt any headstones from then would be readable now and although one is shown as having died there, it doesn't sound as if anyone actually lived there then. But maybe the church served several villages? I'm not clued up on these things.

That's an interesting mystery you have Gill. I've never tried searching for NZ BMD but have you tried sites like this? You could try searching under the sister's maiden names and also great uncle's wife's maiden name and see if you can find the 2 children's births and what mother's names are shown.

https://bdmhistoricalrecords.dia.govt.nz/search/

I belong to the Ancestry site and could look on there if you PM me the details.

Are you having apple crumble tonight?

That's quite a bit of alteration that will be going on at your place Ruby. Will you son still stay there in your house after his is sold? If not, what will happen with your house then if you are living in just part of it? I've never thought of it being too hot for growing apples before. What fruits do grow where you are? I look forward to seeing your 'before and 'after' pics. I have a very pale grey in my porch and on one kitchen wall. We were only talking about probate and when we would be able to sell the house this morning! We are seeing the solicitor tomorrow afternoon with the house valuation and I think you are right about not being able to complete on anything till that's done. Yes, it's all expense at the moment!!

Fancy them putting tags on the baskets Mandy. I'll be looking out for them here now. I always have bags in my car too but will have to make sure I take them in with me as sometimes I forget. :-S It sounds like Hom*ase are competing with B*Q having discount on the same day! It all helps as you say and is well worth it on the price of paint these days. We've found it chilly tonight and have tried the new boiler for the first time. It seems we really are in autumn now.

The shed roof's coming on well now then Mel. What a nuisance hurting your wrist. Half the time you haven't a clue why these things happen.

I hope your friend John is ok Frank. I remember being called back to discuss the results. It's always unsettling waiting for these things. That stuff you were trying to think of was Olbas Oil.

We are having an early night tonight, then going to MIL's house early tomorrow to get stuck in to a few hours sorting and clearing. Then we can get a bite to eat at Morr*sons nearby and then to the solicitor close by, then I can go to Nuneaton to take the top back I didn't need for the funeral. Then OH has a meeting. It's all go isn't it! :-)

Thanks for the link. I've just PM'd you the story Ann. Thank you for your kind offer of help. The girls were born in England before OH's great uncle moved to NZ and got married. As far as I know the girls never went to NZ with him.

I'm off to bed now, I'll catch up with all the posts tomorrow as I'm really tired now.

Morning All, Evening Kim

Lovely morning . Weather wise , Sunny, I think we are having an Indian summer, some mornings it's damp misty and cold and if your going out you wrap up and take a raincoat but by the time it gets round to about 12 lunch time the sun comes out and it's really warm, It's hard to know what to wear as I don't drive and walk into town I have to be prepared for all weathers :-) :-)

September is a busy birthday month for my family & relatives, first it's Sofia, then mine, and now it's MIL 80 birthday on the 29th , we won't be there on the 29th so we are going down this Saturday to visit her and will probably have lunch out again It's so easy that way as MIL can't get around and do shopping, in fact she can't do very much on her own at the moment at all,
she is still having health problems and is off to see the Gynecologist next wednesday for a examination to make sure she is fine enough for her pre opp
and then they will do another operation and we hope it gives her some comfort and she is able to move around without pain & discomfort

We have ordered a bouquet of flowers and will pick them up on Friday afternoon,
my two girls have contributed to the price of this so the flowers will be from all the family up here in Scotland, also I have bought a photo frame and will put in a photo of Sofia and Matteo looking over Sofia's birthday cake, it's a good one , both children a smiling nicely even Sofia who usually gives a real cheeky grin , also I have got a album ,which I will put photo's in of everyone when they were at Sofia's party, my birthday and photos of Victoria and family on their holidays in Italy,

well I better go and get some breakfast.
Changed my profile picture again saw this on facebook and thought it was a good one,

Frank Report 22 Sep 2015 12:24

Morning all, Sorry Afternoon. and to dear Kim.

Fiona can you blow a bit of that sunshine SOUTH. We woke to rain again this morning and it's a horrible day here.

When I got back from the pub last night. Ros had had a call from Jan asking if we would have the little King Charles cocker spaniel from Thursday to Sunday. She said Frank would be delighted, so I will have doggy company for a few days. :-D :-D They don't answer back do they ??? <3 <3 <3 Conrad and Jan won't be staying here, as he think it will be to far to travel morning and evening, with the Motorway being so busy. So they will stay in a hotel.

Some Roses that a friend bought Ros have started to droop already. The ones I bought are as upright as when they arrived. I will try to sent a photo.

Now the hard work starts Ann. How far is MILs house from you. ?? You won't want to be travelling back and forth there to much anyway.

I hope your neighbour has taken photographs of the tree and surroundings, just in case the builder starts to take bits of land that doesn't belong to him. By the sound of him, I wouldn't put anything passed him.

September is Birthday month in this house. With family and friends we have TEN the first on the 3rd that last on the 29th. So an expensive month <3 <3 <3 One of my Grandsons is 22 this month and I haven't seen him since he was 5 or 6 years old. :-( :-( :-(

Well I am all showered and now, after a little sit down, I will get shaved and dressed.

Frank Report 22 Sep 2015 15:15

Well a storm has well and truly landed here. Looing out of the lounge window the road is under water, and the drains are hardly coping. I have never seen rain like this around this area.

On the news there was a bit about floods down in Surrey and Sussex.. I was busy so didn't take a lot of notice, but I believe there were cars flooded in the roads. HOW is it where you all are ???

I have just finished preparing dinner for tonight. Shin of beef, in a lovely gravy, Runners, Cabbage carrots and Creamy Mash. The meat is in the oven on 100 degrees, so that can tick along nice and slowly. So should be very tender by the time we want it.

The girls went off shopping about Mid day, so I hope they are in a shop or garden centre under cover. or boy will they get wet !!!!

Have ordered a new security light for the front of the bungalow. We have one at the back gate and another from the garage to the back lawn. and two small lights on the side of the bungalow to light up the drive. They stay on, where as the others are on sensors. Can't be too careful, with all these scallywags around. !!!!

Central heating and table lamps are all on in the lounge. So there is no way I will be going out tonight. !!!

Where are you all, hiding under your umbrellas ???

:-D :-D :-D

Back from shopping, all unpacked and put away. Sunshine and showers here today. You'll enjoy having that little dog to stay Frank. Cavalier spaniels are much quieter than Cockers who can be pretty lively, particularly the working strain, (mind you I don't think anything is livelier than a Springer spaniel), so at least you won't be walked off your feet!!
We've been asked down to stay with our son in October which were really looking forward to. They have a lovely house in the country with a paddock, chickens and dogs and goodness know what, so Cas is welcome too.
Off to sort out supper.

It will be nice for you to have the little dog there Frank, i bet he will know there's been a cat in the house ,he'll probably have a good sniff round for it .
Hope Ros didn't get to wet ,these down pours can catch you out .
The roses look a picture ,you carn't beat a nice red rose .

I expect Ann and OH have been busy clearing the house today ,i wonder if they found any treasures, it's surprising what gets stored away .

Hope your wrist soon feels better Mel ,i expect shopping wasn't easy with a bad wrist ,those trolleys would be job to push with one hand .

No Gill today ?

Hi yer Trouble, Glad you are enjoying your JOLLY. I thought you were coming home Wednesday. That means I will have to wait for my stick of ROCK :-D :-D :-D They do promise the weather will improve as the week goes on, so you should be alright !!!

We now have your sunshine Mandy. It's so bright that I can't look out of the conservatory. They did say the East and Central England were getting the worse of it.

Liz I am looking forward to having "JJ" (his name) it will give something to do, walkies round the block. I can't say I will take him to the pub, as he might not fit in with my "other friends" I take treats with me when I go down, and they are sniffing round my pockets till I give them a treat.

How's your hand after your shopping trip Mel,?? Not to painful I hope. Has the OH managed to finish the shed and get the pond back to normal.

I expect Gill is still up to her neck in apples. The way things are going she will need another freezer.

Going to put the veg. on now, so see you later.

Annx Report 22 Sep 2015 18:57

Evening All,

Well, we made a good start on the house and both our backs are twanging now!! It's 15 miles each way to the house Frank. I think we counted 9 clocks we found downstairs and that's without the ones on the walls!! Imagine adjusting them all when the clocks went forward and back! OH lost count of the calendars all over the place he threw out and they even had 2 of those things you change the date on every day. I spent all morning wrapping crockery and knick knacks for the charity shop pile, plus pictures off the walls, although I kept one for the light oak and silver frame that didn't go with any others they had but will with ours. I don't think it's any exageration to say they had 5 times as much crockery as us and don't get me started on saucepans I've spotted without even looking and OH says there are more upstairs. OH staggered downstairs with a big old heavy metal trunk he'd never seen before and it had another load of paperwork going back to the year dot for him to shred and he's shredded sackfuls and several car loads already! At least the certificates we couldn't find were in there though! I heard OH say 'flippin cheek' from upstairs!! LOL He'd found his old Corgi cars from when he was a boy, several with their original boxes and they were easily found, so why hadn't his mum given them back to him years ago as I can remember him asking what had happened to them and she was non committal? :-S They only gave him his bagatelle game he had as a child earlier this year when he'd noticed it upstairs. I think they must have thought things that were his were really theirs!! OH said it was a wonder they still had them the way they give stuff away. Anyway, the dustbins are both full, we've done 2 trips to the tip (in a heavy downpour that caused water to bubble up out of the drain covers) and 2 trips to a charity shop, so OH says we've 'scratched the surface!!' After I'd taken my top back to Nuneaton we had a bite at Mo*risons, then went to the solicitors with some things they wanted for probate. Then we were taken to another solicitor down the road to swear an oath. They reckon probate will only take about 3 weeks which is much quicker than we expected. We can sell the house then, but can put it up for sale sooner if we want, just not exchange contracts till probate is granted. We couldn't see what the gardener has done the past few weeks, certainly not any lawn mowing. :-S I've been and fetched more cardboard boxes since I came home and called in the farm shop.

I was convinced my dentist appointment to have that filling done was on Thursday, but it's tomorrow first thing. Isn't it awful when that happens and you realise time is running out so to speak.

Those will be great gifts for your MIL Fiona. I hope the operation this time will make things more comfortable for her.

Yes, I took a few pics through the window Frank.........in case they cut the wrong tree down and tried to say it wasn't them! One neighbour is away but I expect the other is keeping a close eye on things. ;-) That will be lovely having JJ to stay with you!

It sounds like it turned (very) warm for Jane after the rain at first.

I'll have a look for you over the next day or two Gill. :-)

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 22 Sep 2015 21:55

Here I am at last. when I arived home from shopping and put it all away I cooked a roast pork loin dinner. Oh has been positioning the two filters in the shed and has put a shelf along the back with the filter box thing that takes a lot out before it goes through the two filters and back in the pond.

We had sunshine and showers at the same time today. When Icame out of Mo**isons it was brilliant sunshine and dry but as I stepped from under cover it started to rain and did so till I got all the wet shopping in the boot and then it stopped as quickly as it had started.

Seems strange when I get to the ciggy counter to only buy oh's cigs.

With the rain we have had overthe past couple of days on and off the pond is now brimming and if we get any tonight it will be over the top.

Frank thanks for the pic of Ros's roses you bought her. Tell her to cut 2 inches off the stalks of the ones that have wilted and try to do it under water and then pop them into a vase with warm water in it. It may help or lay them in water in the sink after cutting the stems some more and leave them to soak for a while.

J J will be nice company for you for a few days. something to talk to when ros is out.

Is it tomorrow Gill's oh is back to work?

Mndy glad you had a nice day and have nearly finished the clearing of the stuff behind the shed. that will be another good job done before the winter sets in.

Ann 9 clocks without the ones on the walls?? Gosh how many are there on the walls?????? :-S It sounds like Gordon could be on to a nice little earner if he sells his cars as they fetch a good price with their boxes and without. My sons were all pinched out of our stables along with his subutio and our monopoly and other games etc. Good too that he found some ofthe documents he had been looking for.
Well you sound like you have made a good start on the clearing.
