Thanks Jane and Frank got them twice now :-D
That's a lovely display there ,did Ros make some of the beaded things ?
I think cobwebs outside look really pretty this time of the year ,all the dew hangs on them ,they are a work of art when you look at some them .

Hope OH soon feels better Mel, he must feel grotty if he's gone to bed , best place really, perhaps a hot toddy might help.

Yes you would think Chris wouldn't mind touching the dead animals after doing the job he had ,i don't think i would be very keen to touch them ,i would have to scoop it up on the dustpan !!

Just a quickie to let you know I'm still alive LOL

Sandra and I have been in the garden sorting it all out for days and now it's looks lovey, OH cleaned the patio yesterday so we're all ready for the photo's outside.

Still got a few more bits to do inside so will have to go. I'll catch up on the thread later <3

Let us knwo what they say Gill as you have put in so much hard work.

I wonder what Tales Of Thomas we are going to get today? I think he should have a special place on the thread for these stories, don't you?

Tales of Thomas.

Frank Report 29 Sep 2015 11:45

Morning my FAIR MAIDENS , Evening KIM,

It's a beautiful morning to be sure it is , (Irish)

Home alone again being Tuesday. They are off somewhere new today. Hope they don't get lost :-D :-D

It sounds a good idea Mel "TALES OF THOMAS" Jane you could write a children's book about him, leaving out the "KILLINGS" but then there wouldn't be much to write about, would there ;-) ;-) ;-)

The new picture frame arrived this morning The picture surround is just a little big, so will have to be trimmed down. Will get Tony in soon to ask his opinion. He might have to take everything back to his framer friend, to get it done properly.

So it's all go on the property front then Gill. It's a good job you had the nice weather to get the gardening done. Lets hope it will be worth it, and the Agents get the bungalow sold. Why hasn't it sold before this ???

A bungalow is coming on the market at No 2 The lady has just passed away. It has Two Bedrooms and a much smaller rear garden. Madam is saying we should consider going for it. I don't see the point in moving just across the road. Think of all the work involved in that. I can't see it happening.!!! We don't need an extra bedroom, and though a smaller garden might be better for Ros, I can't see a great advantage. We can always get someone in to do the garden here.

I hope Mel is ENJOYING her shopping day, at least the weather is FINE :-D :-D :-D

Off to do some more apples, I stewed and froze a lot yesterday. I will also prepare dinner for tonight. Then I have the day to myself.

See you soon.

Morning All,

Another nice bit of sunshine to help make the winter to come seem shorter! A good day for Gill's photos of the house to be done to. It sounds like you have it all looking pristine now Gill so fingers all crossed this time!! ;-)

OH has gone to a council meeting and I have been to borrow a computer monitor from the computer man! He doesn't seem to want any money so that is good of him. Now I just have to transfer all I want to keep from the old computer to the laptop. Not so easy when I have only used vista for 7 years and the laptop is windows 8.1. Still I am slowly finding my way around it and managed to load microsoft office on so I can do my letters and my spreadsheets.

Yesterday we did more sorting at the house and found another CLOCK!! It was still in the box and had never been used......I think that makes 17 now. It's mind boggling the stuff we keep finding. One biscuit tin was full to the brim with bits of card cut from old woodbine packets and each had the name of a song and the film or musical it was from. We found even more flat baking trays, must be over 40 now I would think and about 30 chopping boards, another 3 tea trays and we'd already took 6 to the charity shop the other day. FIL had even kept his old RAF cap from WW2. We found about half a dozen old prayer books that were FIL's and I was going to suggest taking some of them to him when I realised he can't read them now. Still, as OH says he would probably like the familiarity of having them.

Then we called to see FIL and take him more of his clothes. It seems that a lot of them have gone missing in the laundry at the home. :-S He was fast asleep when we got there and has a rash on his face that the doctor has prescribed cream for. He is very hunched now but was happy to see us and said he has no complaints about the home. We think he thinks he is in a stately home as he was saying they should open the grounds to the public!! It's also a bit disconcerting when he keeps on this theme he has now about whether OH and I are settled and alright!! He seems to think things were a bit tricky between us but I think he is muddled about OH's first marriage!! I can see ears pricking up around us when he gets on the subject!! :-S The staff say he seems to relate to his war days a lot and is convinced if he has toast after his cereal he has to pay for it. He seemed to be quite bothered about not knowing the time and missing a meal and said there are no calendars about in the home at all. Having just found the 17 clocks at the house and thrown away 3 calendars pinned up in different rooms we daren't look at each other at this point in case we laughed! Anyway, he said he can't wear watches now as they stop because magnetism in his body affects the batteries, but he got his carrier bag that he hangs on his walker and what should he pull out but a large ALARM CLOCK that someone had given him!!! He's also had his first flu jab and seemed to accept it without any fuss. Again, he seemed to remember being in the hospital in the city but didn't mention MIL or his old house. We have to be thankful that he seems happy enough at the moment.

Frank, I would consider at least having a look at the bungalow. Less garden might work a lot better in the future although you would probably need to have the bathroom changed. I know when I moved here I worried about having a much smaller garden, but I wouldn't want anything any bigger now.

I see Thomas is at it again! I'm with Mandy and would have used a shovel on the dead rabbit!!!!! :-( You don't know what bugs or fleas it might have.

Hope your OH soon feels better Mel. There were a couple of people at the surgery with right stinkers when I went for my blood test yesterday.

Afternoon Ann, You did make me smile about the clocks, and FIL bringing one out of his bag. Good job it didn't go off !!!!. :-0 :-0 :-0 All these baking trays and chopping boards. Did she do a lot of cooking, or just KEPT buying them.??? You can't change the way people are.

On "THIS MORNING" I just happen to catch an item of the most disgraceful woman, who thought it was perfectly alright to park in DISABLE PARKING SPACES. She thought there were far to many around, and most of the time they were empty. Likewise she felt it was O.K. to use disable toilets. What a Blo##y moron she was. :-P :-P :-P :-P I would love to see her in a disabled parking space, I would drag her out of the car. :-0 :-0 :-0 Who do these people think they are. This stems from "JOHN TERRY" parking in a disabled parking bay, as he was only going to be a few minutes. There should put a minimum fine of £1,000.00. You would then see them change their minds about where to park. ;-) ;-) ;-)

The picture needs a bit taken off all around the boarder, so Tony is taking it to his framer on Friday for him to sort it out. I will take a pic when it's all done.

Still a beautiful afternoon. with hardly any breeze and blue sky all around.

Spag Bol for dinner tonight. All made and ready to warm through when I cook the spag. I have even grated the cheese to sprinkle over it.

Now for a bit of me time !!!!

Evening All
Well I have a really iffy squiffy tum today.I did n't dare go and give blood just in case I needed the loo.it would have been a bit difficult if `i was hooked up to the blood bag :-S :-S. So I have just stayed at home.I don't know what set that off I'm sure.

Gill I hope you got a really good valuation today from the Estate Agent and that the sun shone for you for some lovely photos of the bungalow and Garden.

Frank ,why not just have a look at the bungalow and see what it is like.I can't really see you moving though..That is good your bloods are all fine :-D

LOL Ann TICK TOCK :-D :-D.....Goodness me 17 clocks and now an Alarm Clock in FIL's bag :-D :-D..I wonder if someone did give it to him ,or did he spot it and decide he could just do with another clock lol.As for all the baking tins etc !!!!! well it makes the mind boggle.

I have a Beef Casserole in the oven and have done mashed potato ,also have some Spring Greens to cook. But I don't know if I shall be eaten much .It does smell good though and my tum is rumbling.
We are off to the Cinema tomorrow and for lunch at Pizz* Expre** so I hope I am ok to go .
Thomas had me awake at 4 this morning. He was on the bed and I must have disturbed him when I got up for the loo.I tried ignoring him but he was ranging around the bedroom 'investigating' so by 4.15 it was time to put him out in the garden. He had woken Chris by padding about on the bed purring his head off.He is out on a mission now so we have our eyes peeled ready for anything :-S.Back door firmly shut :-D

Chris picked some Cooking Apples today..Want any Gill ???? ;-) ;-)

Jane Report 29 Sep 2015 18:57

Frank I saw the programme about parking in disabled spaces.I would never ever park in one even for a minute. But I do admit I have used the disabled toilet on occasions. But only when the queue for the ladies has been so long .I remember one year I was on a trip to the theatre in London with the girls from Chris's surgery and the queue for the ladies was probably about 20 people. The mens loos were right next door and as many of us ladies were 'desperate' we took over the mens :-D.We made sure all men had left the loos and so one of us stood guard for a while to stop any men going in while we used their facilities :-D :-D
I think it is time we had unisex toilets here like abroad. It makes sense ,even though men are messy so and so's and leave wet splashes everywhere :-S :-S.I'm sure you don't Frank :-D.There are just never enough toilets for us girls :-S

Well I have just found £65 on the table for me :-D..Payment from James for his re-sole shoe job.I did sent him a little reminder today :-D :-DJust incase he forgot LOL
Tomorrow is the last day at Tesc* to use the points collected for petrol. I have 20p off a litre so will make the most of that in the morning. :-D.I normally let James use the points to fill up his car but he says he just topped up a couple of days ago.

Thomas is still out there somewhere :-S

Here I am.

Not another clock Ann and one at the home as well and all those baking tins!! The mind boggles. The tin of woodbine card with the names of songs and musicals must thave been a game they played. It sounds quite good for those who know about the old musicals.

Oh still not well and has been asleep most of today again. He did come out and have some chicken soup and a slice of bread when I got back from shopping. He gets cross with himself as he is missing this nice weather to get on with the shed and pond as he has no energy at all. He must have felt a little better this morning as he was making rude comments lie he usually does. Only joking with me.

Well I have made the chicken casserole but not sure if I want any now.

I had a pm from Harry and I have replied and asked him if I can put it on the thread and am just waiting for an answer.

I hope you didn't pick a bug up off that rabbit Jane! So that's again you didn't get to give blood, but I wouldn't have gone either. As you say you want to feel you could dash if needs be! I think MIL must have had a compulsion to buy certain things, put them away then forget she'd bought them. There's no order to where things are put as there were new baking trays in the wardrobes, in the little box room where FIL stored his tools as well as downstairs. It's the same with paperwork and crockery, some stored away in every room. We can't believe how much stuff there is considering things were always being taken to charity shops. I know we all mislay things at times and forget what we've bought and buy more and I expect we get worse as we get older, but I don't think things have ever been kept in one place!! We've found 4 kettles, including a brand new whistling one and more tin openers than you can shake a hat at and many packs of slicing knives still sealed up and unused. I'd say there must be at least 15 pairs of scissors up to know and so it goes on. We haven't even touched one spare room yet, and it's piled high with things.

I think she used the trays to hot things up Frank. I've never known her to do any baking and she stopped cooking dinners about a couple of years ago. Ros made a lovely tree for the porch, it looks bright and cheerful!

I never park in disabled spaces either. I do think just a few of the disabled spaces at supermarkets could be open to everyone say after 8.00pm. It is annoying to see rows of empty disabled and parent and child spaces right outside a store when you have to walk further with bad knees or a bad back, yet aren't bad enough to get a pass. One of the supermarkets near here has speakers that activate when you park in disabled spaces to ask if you are entitled to park in those spaces!! lol.

Well I've had a sort out of my photos on the computer and they are being copied to a flash stick as I type. There are still thousands of them after deleting a lot so I may have to copy them to an external drive I bought as I'm not sure how much room there is on the laptop! Then I can start sorting and saving all the documents I have and I know I have a lot to do with FH. I'm seeing my sister tomorrow so won't have much time then and I need to take the monitor back on Thursday, so I might be burning the midnight oil to get it all done.

Thank you for the photos Fiona. Your MIL looks as if she had a lovely day and a very nice butterfly cake.

Gillx Report 29 Sep 2015 22:38

Hi Everyone

Thanks for the pics Frank and Fiona.

What lovely photo's of your MIL's birthday Fiona, I liked the cake too :-D

How creative Ros is Frank, all those lovely things she hung on the tree, I was hoping to do something like that with lights, but have had problems trying to find the branches in the same colour as Ros has.
Pleased to hear your blood test came back normal. Have they said what was causing your dizzy spells?

I saw the blood moon and the eclipse Jane. OH and I stayed up till 4.30am. OH fell asleep on the sofa so I had to wake him up when the eclipse started. The moon wasn't as red as I thought it would be....more of a rusty brown but still a delight to see. The eclipse was brilliant though and well worth staying up for.
I couldn't stop laughing Jane when you asked if I wanted some cooking apples...I'll pass if you don't mind LOL.

The Agent was very pleased with our bungalow and said how nice the gardens were as well. Unfortunately not long after she left, the pump on our pond stopped working, OH tried the fuse when he got in from work but it's still not working so he's going to check the filters tomorrow. Luckily it's only a small raised pond on the patio with pot plants around it and a waterfall, so if the pump can't be fixed we can take the waterfall and pond away and just arrange the pots in the space. Hopefully it'll still look good.

The reason our property didn't sell before Frank is because the Agent we had was useless. Hopefully this Agent will be much better. I had the owner's son (Josh) on the phone not long after Claire (The agent) had finished measuring up and taking the photo's. Apparently he's been put in charge of selling our bungalow along with a lady called Louise and they both want to come and speak with us about the place and take a look at the bungalow for themselves. Reason being, they said they like to see the properties they are selling rather than just looking at photo's.....I was really impressed, as no other Agent has ever done that. We've come down a bit on the price so hopefully that will help. The board is going up tomorrow and it'll be active online the day after. I asked if they could wait until the 1st October rather than having a September date on it as it would look better if anyone checked when it went online.

I've been trying to post on here since the Agent left but for some reason there wasn't a box to write in. I've tried signing out and back in again but nothing seemed to work, it's only just started to play nicely again, so sorry for posting so late.

I'm absolutely shattered now so I'm off to bed
See you all in the morning
Night Night <3

Gillx Report 30 Sep 2015 10:01

Morning all

Another sunny day today. OH is painting the garage door. I forgot all about it and spotted it yesterday when the Agent came round, so it needs to be done while the weather is holding out. Then we'll have to take a look at the pump for the pond. We put the wire underground so it's concreted in and isn't easy to remove without making a lot of mess so we can't just buy another pump and replace it quickly. Hopefully we'll be able to fix it otherwise it's quite a big job to sort out with a new one......fun and games today LOL

It's took me 2 hours to get my router to work today, the adaptor has a loose wire and the electric keep cutting out, I've managed to position it in place and tape it but it won't last so I'm going to have to buy a new adaptor, as I can't get online without it. So if I'm not online for a while you know why ;-)

Going to post this now incase I lose my connection, hopefully I'll be back later

What is everyone else up to today?

O I meant to say Gill it could be that the impeller inside the pump is stuck. there should be a way to get into it under the filter bit if its a Lotus pump. If its Hoselock they are a sealed unit I think if I remember right from having the pet shop you can't get into the impeller.

Morning All,

Well I slept all through seeing the moon Gill. OH got up and saw it but didn't think it was very red! He's gone to a meeting at Melton Mowbray this morning, then off to the solicitors and I am meeting my sister for lunch at a garden centre. I was up half the night copying stuff off my old computer. It said I have over 21,000 photos, docs etc to be saved, so I've been weeding some of them out!! It's good you have a better agent this time and a good day to paint the garage door. I've just sorted some brushes for OH to paint the top of the fence when he gets back. We had hoped to paint it all this year, but haven't had chance. At least if the tops are painted it will keep it better over the winter.

What film are you seeing Jane? If it's Legend I think you will enjoy it!!! lol.

Better get a COT now. The window cleaner should be here but we never know what day he's coming any more. :-S I bet I'll just be getting changed when he arrives. The sun's shining again which is nice, but it feels a bit chilly inside.

Oh didn't spot you there Mel!! It's good your OH is feeling a bit brighter, but not good if he's passed it to you now. Mention of pumps has reminded me that we haven't cleaned our pump since we had it. I suppose I could bring it in over the winter as we won't be switching the waterfall on.

Morning all, Evening Kim,

What a night I had, in bed by 11.30 pm Laid awake thinking of my childhood and other things until 2.00 am. Came into the lounge and read until 3.45. Felt my eyes were drooping so got back into bed. I again laid wide awake until 5.00 am Finally dropped of and was awake again at 8.00. So as you can imagine I'm not anybody's friend today.

Ros like you Jane has had a poorly tum. She has had it since Monday. She had used all the Imodium, and has not really eaten anything. I got a shoulder of lamb out for dinner tonight, but I don't think she will be eating.

Hope you and OH start to feel better soon Mel, Yes, with all this nice weather, I am sure he wants to get on with the jobs, but feeling like that I can understand him not wanting to do much.

Ann, When oh when will all these things that the in-laws collected come to an end. With the spare room still to do, who knows what you might find. You could have opened a KITCHEN SHOP with all those utensils :-D :-D I bet the charity shop is busting at the seams now !!!

That's a lot of photo's and docs. you have on your computer. Where on earth did you find all those ??

Gill, It must be nice that the Agents son and assistant, are coming to get a first hand feeling about your bungalow. That way they can converse better with prospective buyers. GOOD LUCK this time round.

Another beautiful morning here. A slight breeze, but plenty of blue sky, and sunshine. I will see if I can do any little jobs down the garden later.

Ros has gone to a Trustees meeting this morning, she didn't want to go but, if she didn't there wasn't enough people to make a meeting. (can't think what it's called) Ann will know !!! Cleaver clogs ;-) ;-)

Better go and take my tablets and get a bit of toast. It will see me through till tonight.
