Hello all,
Sorry to hear about the tummy problems. The BRAT diet is supposed to be good - Banana; rice; applesauce; toast. Not necessarily all together. :-D
Thank you for pictures Frank, of the sky, and Jane for the pictures taken on your hols. Beautiful.
We had almost no rain during the entire summer, but it started Sunday, and hasn't let up much - just light rain ever since. Now we're going to get loads from this hurricane (Juaquin).
I went out to pull weeds from the raised beds the other day and found a lovely cuke where none had been planted. It probably was in the compost I made. We grew corn years ago, and loved it. You could almost eat it raw straight from the garden. It's very simple to microwave whole. Just open up the husks and get rid of the silks, add butter, salt and pepper and pull the husks back up around the cob, and microwave. Delicious.
The fellow who is going to convert my garage was here today to go through a few things with me. He went up into the attic and made his way to where the garage is to check the insulation. It has just the minimum, so that has to be added to the list. He brought two mouse traps back down, complete with bodies. I had forgotten about them.
Jane, why not have Caller ID added to your phone service. At a glance I can see who is calling. I sometimes wish I didn't have to have a phone. I don't call anyone unless it's for a real purpose. I don't like it when people call just to pass the time of day.
I've been going through craft magazines - many from the 70's, and have put lots in a box for my sister to look through. I've always had a hard time parting with pattern mags and with books also, but have finally accepted the fact that I'll never make any of those things, and am getting rid of them. I can no longer knit or crochet because my fingers are just too painful, and I know I'll never be able to hand quilt again, but I am not ready to get rid of my quilting books and mags.
I haven't done anything towards Christmas. My sister and I are going to fly up to Missouri for the holiday this year, to visit with my niece and her family. we're also hoping to meet up with a second cousin who lives in Kansas. She is nearly 90 and we have never met her, but have been in touch with one another for years.
Bye for now from a very rainy S Carolina.

Morning all morning Ruby
Misty start to today but they say we are getting some more sun later. I've just checked the weather forecast for the rest of the week and it looks like today is the last day for sunshine then it's going to cloud over and rain midweek. It was nice while it last anyway.
OH has moved the car so I can paint the fence, but I've got a feeling we haven't got enough paint and OH's not off again until Monday when it's suppose to rain so I'm thinking of leaving it for now just incase I run out of paint and it stops me finishing the job. If it doesn't rain on Monday then I can get some more paint and do the whole job in one go. If it rains then the job won't get done.
It sounds like you have bad weather Ruby, hope it doesn't get to much worse with the hurricane. I'm the same as you when it comes to books, I find it hard to part with them, but found this year when I was having a sort out that I had far to many, so I had to bite the bullet and get rid of some of them.
How nice for you to finally meet up with your second cousin over Christmas I bet you can't wait? I think Sandra and I are going to be on our own this year as OH will probably have to work Christmas day again like he did last year. I hope it's just a morning shift and not all day then at least we can eat our Christmas dinner together in the afternoon. If he has to work the afternoon shift or all day then we'll have our Christmas dinner on Boxing day, we had to do that last year. I'm just glad I don't have really young children, as they wouldn't understand why we were having Christmas on Boxing day instead of Christmas day. Michelle will never spend another Christmas with us because of where she lives now, so it doesn't really feel like Christmas anymore :-(
Off to get a cuppa now, then I might take another look at my family tree and catch up with a few more programmes I've recorded. Sandra's still asleep and OH's at work. See you all later <3

Gill, I don't think you must ever say never! Give it a while and you may well find Michelle will want to spend time with you again. As I've told you we've had periods when we've felt the same with one or other of our two! and now they're both falling over themselves as to where we go to the point that 'on our own' sometimes begins to seem attractive!!!! My advice (for what it's worth) is to always stay in contact, even if you get a negative reaction back, lie low, don't do or say anything that might provoke an upset (not easy!!) and see what happens. I think you might well be pleasantly surprised, even if it takes a year or two. If it's really 'never', well, it'll be her choice not yours, you'll have done your best and no one including yourself can ever blame you. Busy old morning here, so must get on while the weather holds.

Hi Liz
Michelle can't have any time off work in November or December. She only gets Christmas Day off and there isn't any coaches on that day which is why I said I'd never see her again over Christmas, it's sad but unfortunately the way it is.
On a positive though, I've just had a phone call off the Agent and we have our first viewing tomorrow at 10am. It's a cash buyer with nothing to sell. Her sister is coming to do the viewing on her behalf as she's away at the moment. Apparently she put an offer on another property last week but someone else got it, so it sounds like she's a serious buyer. The only problem is we can't afford to move to Devon just yet, and there doesn't seem to be anything decent to buy where we are now. I'm just hoping some more properties come onto the market so there might be somewhere suitable for us to buy.
At least when this place sells I won't have to worry about the charge on the deeds anymore and can finally relax again. I've informed the Agent of this situation and will be telling our solicitor too. I don't know whether to feel excited or a bit down with not being able to move to the place we really want at the moment. What is that saying "ALL THINGS COME TO THOSE WHO WAIT" Maybe if we move local we might be able to save and buy something down south in the future.
I've just been comparing the photo's taken by this Agent and our old Agent and these photo's are definitely better, especially with the sun being out.
I WOULD BUY IT LOL
Plus we have come down on the price by 6k too so that should help. If we were to sell now we wouldn't move till January at the earliest, so at least I don't have to worry about Christmas and moving all at the same time. Less stress too.
Thanks for your kind words Liz, I was feeling a bit down in the dumps earlier, but feel a little better now <3

Morning all, evening Kim,
Ann, I don't want to read that you have re-enacted your ancestor "LADY GODIVA" and riding through Coventry on Horse back in the NUDE :-D :-D :-D What a fantastic find and also NIXON.
I got Ros an appointment at the Drs 5.10 pm yesterday. She said she would prefer not to give her anything, and to let it take it's course.
She has managed a COT and slice of toast this morning, and a bowl of mushroom soup last night. So here's hoping !!!
I am having one of my sneezing fits this morning, about 20 so far. It makes it difficult to see the keyboard as my eyes are watering like mad . The cold sore is very painful when you try to drink anything hot. I have put vaseline on it this morning.
Ros has gone to Lara's to take back all this sewing. This pelmet thing is longer that our lounge 30 ft. and the material has been cut without getting the paten right, therefore for Ros to get the paten right it goes up in steps, and it's so heavy. It took us 20 minutes this morning to fold it up. I have told Ros, SHE MUST TELL LARA that she is unable to do any better with it, and she should take it to an industrial sewing place that have the big sewing machines. Who will replace Ros's if it burns out ??? She has also altered a bridesmaids dress that she needs for a friends wedding. All in all I think she is taking the MICHAEL (P##s) asking Ros to do it. We onlt hear from her when she want's something.
I have been told in no uncertain terms NOT to go near the steps to put up the light and Line. So that's me told. !!
Conrad Skyped this morning. The temperature is in the 30s and he has sold THREE VILLAS this week. The other chap he works with is OFF WITH THE FLU. so he is working flat out.
Nice to hear from you Ruby, trust you can cope with all this rain, Lets hope the Hurricane doesn't do any damage. It will be nice for you to go away for xmas and meet your Cousin for the first time.
Liz, Our black Poodle had a shin bone that we boiled to get rid of the marrow. She would stand it on it's end and grind away with her teeth. Her teeth were as white as snow, and she took this bone everywhere. In fact it got buried with when she passed away. <3 <3 <3
I thought Carole V had an army breastplate on when she came on stage, and the size of her rear end was something different Mutton/Lamb comes to mind, :-0 :-0 :-0
Well as I am confined to the house, I will read my book.
Hope everyone one is feeling better today.

I'm glad you feel a bit better Gill, but hey, Michelle won t be working in that job for ever!! Who knows what her work or domestic situation will be in the future!.She may well feel she wants a change and move closer to you, particularly if you end up near the sea!!??. Don't give up hope!! Have sent a couple of pics of the sweetcorn and spuds!!! Good news is that we have finally managed to sell our CNC machine!! We hung on refusing offers and have finally got the asking price which is brilliant! OH is about to have a bonfire!

All the spuds are bagged up now and OH is having a well earned rest! Tomorrow we are clearing out the workshop in preparation for Sunday's move! It'll be brilliant to have more room once that machine is gone! The baby has had a good run and I'm sitting in the sun enjoying the remaining few fine days. Oh, OH has just bought me a cornet with mint flavoured ice cream! It's very good !!

I had this from Harry a day or so ago.
Hi i'm 67 and I remember knock down ginger very well, I was born in the East End of London, and remember getting a clip around the ear from a copper for it lol. I was a barra boy in Roman Road market, I could tell some stories there both good and bad lol, went to a school where the highlight of the day was putting us first years heads down the toilet, who said they were the good ol days lol, but I do miss them. Regards Harry
And this today.
Hi I'm new to this just tell me how. Yes by all means, as I said just tell me how. I'm not very computer savvy either. I come from Bow. I know Ilford and Romford very well, I think you must know the Three Rabbits Pub then. Regards Harry

Ros has just come in, starving hungry, so she is feeling better. She is getting something to eat now, but hope she doesn't have too much, as I have the lamb in the oven on very low so it can get very tender Roast pots, Runners, Brussels , peas and carrots.
Doors and windows all open, Bloo#y Blue bottles buzzing around, so that's had a good spray :-P :-P Dirty horrible things. !! Still very warm, lets hope it continues.
Glad Harry has been in touch. You will have to talk him through how to join the thread Mel. I see he comes from our way Mel, I spent many an hour cycling through Bow. to and from work in the City. I bet he and I could have a real good chat. My mums family were Market people down Green Lane, they were into Fruit and Veg.
After the war my brother Jack and I would go out and dig wild horseradish. Bring it home scrub it clean in cold tin bath of water, in the garden, then take it to Aunt Hetty down the market, My brother would get paid, and I might get an apple or something.
I have put the new line up as it didn't incur any climbing. I have also cleaned the cooker and oven. The shelves are bright and shiny (I won't use the other saying) ;-) ;-) ;-)
Just typical of Ros, she has put the T.V. and now gone to the bathroom to wash her hair, She must have noise on in the house, but never the radio.
Well done Ian, getting the spuds all sacked up. By us growing them in bags, I just empty one and use those and move on, still got one to go. Glad Cassie is enjoying the sunshine.
Ros tells me that Lara has invited us down to Bude, Cornwall. When they move down there. They are opening the BIG HOUSE (his Fathers) as a Wedding venue. They will do all the catering and organising of the wedding themselves. News to me ,I didn't know she knew anything about catering. ;-) ;-) ;-) There is also a working Church on the farm. So they will be offering weddings as well. Matts Father is a multi millionaire, and will fund everything. She has really dropped in the right place this time around. I don't know how the daughters Father will respond not being able to see his daughter on a regular basis.
I can smell the meat, so will go and see how it's doing and give it a turn.
Might see you later.

Afternoon All Hi again to Harry..I hope he can find his way back to us again with more of his memories :-D :-D
Frank if i was Ros I would just eat the potaoes and veg tonight but not the Lamb.(even though you are lovingly cooking it :-D).I can find sometimes that Lamb can upset my tum .It's quite a rich meat. She just needs to go easy for a couple of days now . I think I am sorted .NOTHING at all today. That one Immodiu* I had yesterday has obviously done something :-)
So an invite to Bude..Not too many miles from Mel :-D :-D.You might finally be able to get to meet :-D
I have cooked Thomas a bit of fish today as I got so fed up chucking out full dishes of cat food.He has eaten most of what I have put down but still not cleared the plate. He eats so little.o he must be either catching or being fed somewhere.I am going for catching.Yet he sleeps almost the whole day. It was 6.10am today when he woke me up.That is the best time yet :-D
James has been moving offices today .He was up and away early this morning.I hope is isn't going to be too late home as he is driving down to Jess tonight. It is going to be a very busy day for him.
Liz,that was a great crop of potatoes you had in the buckets, and lovely Corn :-D
Ruby, that will be nice to meet up with your rellies for Xmas. How far is Missouri from you? I do hope the rain you have lets up soon..Do you get any kind of flooding where you are at all after a long dry spell and then lots of rain? How long had your dead bodies been up in the loft? :-D.At least the traps did the job :-D
Fish and Chips for us tonight (from the freezer).I have got James a Chicken and Mushroom Risotto ready to pop in the oven whe nhe gets in..Have to say it looks really nice.I quite fancy that myself.
The sun has been lovely today again, but it is now feeling chilly.I can't wait to get the Wood burner going again, but it is still not cold enough for that.I wonder if Thomas will like to lie on the rug in front of it.
Was it today Fiona was going to her Dads old friends funeral?
Gill I hope tomorrows viewing goes well .I bet you are all ready for it now :-D

Evening All.
Another great day weatherwise. :-) I must do more washing tomorrow before we get the rain that's promised next week. There were only 3 of us at class today, the others were all busy doing different things. I partly did a nice little bracelet made of silver coloured rings and shiny teal cube beads. If there are enough beads it might become a necklace.
That's good Ros is feeling better Frank. Lamb is a greasy meat but she probably won't want too much. I had F&C today and the batter gave me a bit of indigestion.......serves me right!! Lara can't expect Ros to do miracles with the sewing if the pattern hasn't been cut right, it won't sew up properly or hang right. I think she should give it back like you say. Me......Lady Godiva Frank LOL!! Well it IS less than 30 miles to Coventry from here so I wouldn't have far to go. Mind you I think I'd scare the horse (and everyone else) without my clothes!!! I was reading a bit about her after I found her in that tree and I never realised that when she rode through the town naked it was during the night.
It's good Harry is keeping in touch with Mel. I imagined he was older than me with the memories he told us.....but has probably just got a better memory than me.
That should be good meeting up with your second cousin Ruby. Are your summers usually like this, very dry for ages then lots of rain? It's a good opportunity to have a sort out before your new place is ready. It grieved me a bit to part with all the coachpainting things I had from when I used to do that as in my mind I thought I may do it again one day, but to be honest I haven't missed it since. I did keep the special paintbrushes....well they didn't take much room up. You could scan and save some things like patterns you really want on line. I do that now with some beading patterns I think I might do one day.
Tomorrow I'm going with my friend to do another day of the fused glass workshop. No idea what we will be making but I imagine it may be Christmassy things. I'm taking a supply of sticking plasters this time!! :-S :-S

Only a few of you in the class today then Ann. The bracelet sounds nice.

Another wonderful morning here. When I looked out the bedroom window this morning all the big weeds in the back of the bungalow were hanging in dew filled fairy hammocks. It looked magical.
