Oh thank you again Mandy for those tips! I'd wondered if people might chuck stuff in, but hadn't thought of asbestos! I suppose people who want to get rid of it drive round at night purposely looking for skips! How annoying for your hubby to be charged for it to be safely disposed of though. The rule book at these tips is getting bigger all the time. I remember when we could take anything to ours 24 hours of the day and plonk it all together as it didn't even have gates. We are hoping the loft is still empty from when they had extra insulation put in it a few years ago......but you never know so we are going to look like you said before, just in case. It sounds like Toby forgets he has aches and pains the days he shoots up the garden like a puppy. I suppose they are like us, better some days than others. :-)

Thank goodness the shopping is done for another week.
I cooked dinner when I arrived home, sausages, onions, brocc and new pots and a bit of stuffing for oh. I could'nt be bothered to do anything else but we had some nice Kelly's clotted cream icecream after with a tin of mixed fruit of blackcurrants, cherries, blueberries, blackberries and strawberies. I won't recomend any of you buy it as it all tasted of the blackcurrants and there was more juice than fruit and it was Pr*nces too.
Gill I am so pleased Rosie turned up today. I wonder if she had had kits as when you sent that pic it really looked like she had been feeding. I bet Sandra was over the moon at seeing her.
You've all been so busy posting and Frank sending all those emails. I had a bit of trouble with the fly one as it made the pc freeze so if you still have it on your pc's I would delete it if I was you, I did and turned the pc off after for a while before restarting it again. You just never know..............
Oh got the door on the shed today and has hung a lot of things to do with the pond vac on the walls. He rang me just as I was at the check out. I could'nt hear what he was saying and then he said very loudly "where's my dinner?" I told him I would ring him back which I did when I was getting his ciggies and put my card in by mistake and his no. Having sorted that out he said did they sell footballs there? Told him I would ring back and let him know. they did at 99p each so he siad get me 5. Have you ever tried to pick up one football let alone 5!! I had to get another trolly and pick them out with both hands one at a time and popped them in the other trolley then had to push both trollies to the self service place but as I had paid formy shopping I went in the OUT. Went to the machine and started to do them when a lady in charge came over to me and told me to join the que!! I felt such a fool. I only had two people in front of me and they went very quickly to a machine then I got in a panic as I did'nt really know how to work the bl**dy thing. In the end the girl did it for me and I got them in two bags where they were under control. When I arrived home oh even had trouble holding the damn things and could only control two at a time so I took the other three out in the bag. He put them under the pond net and pushed them out to the middle with the long handle of the net and the wind blew them straight back to the edge. I did laugh and got a very black look.............. He then turned the hose on and pushed them back out to the middle with the jet of water. That worked a treat. At least the net is'nt hanging in the pond now.
It's so nice Harry and Anne are posting so we have all made two new friends now. The more the merrier............ :-D :-D :-D
Frank have you watched the new Lewis tonight?????? I am going to have a quick shower now and then watch it on the pc as I can't get the youview box to work at all now.
So saying night night and see you in the morning.

What a difference to the picture the gold frame has made, it suits it perfectly and will now fit in with all your other pictures Frank.
Sounds like you had fun with the footballs Mel. I wasn't sure where the story was going.......What a good idea to use footballs to keep the net out of the pond.
Yes it is nice to have Anne and Harry join us :-) <3
The roll on roll off skip sounds brilliant Ann, but you might find other people will put their rubbish in there so be careful like Mandy said and check everything before the skip it taken away.
I'm hoping it's going to be dry in the morning so I can touch up the paint that got washed off. It's only about a foot up from the ground so shouldn't take me to long. I thought it was going to rain all day tomorrow, but when I checked the weather earlier it's just going to be cloudy.....hope the weather people have got it right.
Signing out now See you all tomorrow Night Night

Hi Mel Fairy Godmother my eldest son was born in Forestgate Hosp. in 1970. What a dive that was. Wouldn't let me in to be with mythen wife. Cockcroaches everywhere outside. We moved to the Isle of Dogs shortly after. My wife and I have a fancy for South Wales. We love the coast we are often in Porthcawl.
Hi Frank I live near kettering and my daughter lives there. I do all sorts of fishing now, fly and course in Northamptonshire and sea in Wales, hoping to start fly fishing in Wales soon as it's about a third of the price. Regards harry :-)

Morning all
It's raining here so I won't be touching up the paintwork until the weather improves.
OH is going to put the electrics into the garage today, it's dry in there so the weather doesn't matter for that job, I'll be able to plug my freezer in then and move the apples from the freezer in the kitchen to the garage tomorrow.
Got to nip to the shop to buy the socket first, so I'll see you all later <3

Good morning everyone
Firstly I would like to thank you all for making me feel so welcome.
I do miss the company of the people I worked with since 1978, I did retire when just a few months past 65 but was asked back after 3 years to help out when the lady that had my job was ill and they needed me to do the payroll but I only expected it to last a couple of weeks but sadly she had lung cancer and didn't recover. They then asked me to stay on and I said only if I could go part time which they agreed, My husband didn't mind as he enjoyed being "a house husband" but sadly after 3 years when he first became ill and I became his full time carer and towards the end I had to do everything for him it was such a sad time as he thought his Mum and Dad were still alive and he was back in the old family home. he kept calling me Rosemary his elder sister's name and asking if his brothers were up yet. I expect Ann has had the same experience with her father in law.
I have just had my weekly shop from Sainsbury's delivered it is helpful not to have to get it myself as all the animal food alone weighs a ton, although this Sainsburys is only about 10 minutes walk away, I dislike grocery shopping after doing it for 55 years, this so much easier.
Well its" walkies" time for Amy now and then I have to pop to the chemist to pick up my monthly prescriptions, I take so many pills I must rattle

Morning all, Evening Kim,
My you have all been chatting away like mad. I miss it all as I don't tend to come on in the evenings.
Glad "Rossie" has showed up again. Is she still looking fit and well ??
I thought "LEWIS" was very difficult to get into. I do hate these two parter's. Where's the Lady Detective Inspector GONE. ??? They had better improve or I will be turning over !!!
Ann, You must think you are going back 50 years will all this stuff you are finding. You might be in for a lot of surprises when you enter the loft
Harry and Ann, I send most of the nature and funny emails on here. If you would like to be included and are BROARD MINDED send me a pm with your email address and I will include you on the list.
Harry, I lived in Barton Seagrave on the A 6. Jane lives there also but near Cranford.
Where do you go fishing ??? The little river by Wickstead's Park was great for large Roach in the winter. The best one I had was over 2 lbs. I think I fished everywhere when I first moved up here in 1964 as there was such a great variety of places to go. I continued to fish until I had a Stroke on March 2004. Now I am frightened to go near water, as I can't swim anymore.
Jane, The liver wasn't up to scratch last night, it had a tang with it so we left it. but enjoyed the rest. Turkey stir fry tonight, which is left to Ros. So I have another day off. :-D :-D :-D
The weather doesn't seem to know what to do. It's very cloudy with a good breeze. So no doubt we will get the rain. How's things down south Mel.???
Time for breakfast and more tea. !!!
See you later.

Morning all and evening Kim,
Well you asked how it was down here. We have sunshine and then clouds. There's a bit of blue sky here and there but as I type it is getting cloudier.
Oh is out painting the window frame of the new shed.
Somethings not right with this reply box this morning as the spaces were'nt coming out whilst I typed. Sometimes I am typing away and when I look up only part of what I had written is there and no matter how much more I type nothing appears till you go to the last word and put the cursor there. It seems to disappear.
Just having a bowl of cereal so I can take my pills.
Harry you live near Jane and not that far from Frank.
Meant to say I have been having to buy eggs!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
At first I had enough to keep me going but I went and bought some from the girl I rescue the chickens from as when I rang and asked her if I could buy two hens off her to get me through the winter and she said no she said why don't you buy my eggs. Well I took a drive down there and she has a fridge outside which is lovely and clean and neat and tidy with all the eggs layed out on the shelves in their sizes in nice new boxes so I bought a dozen as oh had told me to do.
Well................I am sorry but when I cracke dthe first one in the frying pan it barly had a very very pale yellow yolk and the white spread out right across the pan and she said "why don't you buy my eggs?" well thats why. Not fresh at all and very enemic. So there is also Alan up at the crossroads when Igo to the shop on a Saturday who sells eggs. I looked in his little cupboard and there was a sign saying Sorry sold out of eggs. Hmmm I thought these will be fresh when the next half dozen go out. I bought them the next day when I went up for our scripts. Looking forward to Sundays big breakfast I cracked the first egg int he pan and it was just the same as Loraines very pale yolk but I must admit the white was a little better tasting. I have also tried eggs from down the road at Rose's but hers are just the same so what is it that makes my eggs so different?????? Is it just that I give them hot mash sometimes and they are on a field of green grass and weeds or that I feed them a different food from a different place or that they have corn every evening? I even get the hens from the girl who told me to buy her eggs as when she has finished with them they are gassed. I really don't know the only thing I do know is that this week we will be having our usual Big Breakfast with two of our own eggs as thats how many I have had this week.......so far.........so oh may get his two fried eggs if he's lucky and the girls lay another one during the rest of the week.
I hav'nt had to buy other peoples eggs for years now and can understand why a lady who buys my eggs says mine are the best. I am now going round to talk nicely to my 6 big girls and see if they will lay me another egg for Sunday.

Well I am back in doors with my head dragging on the floor. I went out with every good intentions of digging out these bush stumps. I haven't even got the strength to get the fork or spade into the ground. I tried with a pick axe, but that didn't do a lot better. Ros is cutting back loads more growth on other things she wants out. I will have a word with my neighbour who has a landscape business, to see if one of the lads will come over when they come back to his house with the van, and dig them out for us.
I think I have to accept that (a) I'm getting to old for manual labour. (b) this stroke has made me a lot weaker than I thought I was. I will have to be content with walking up and down the lawns with the mower, and concentrate on my COOKING.
Mel, I bet it's the way you feed and look after your birds. It must make a big difference if they are Happy and contented, which I expect yours are. I think I have said before that I have complained to Tesc# about the quality of their eggs. Nothing worse than a white running all over the pan. :-( :-(
I think Jane has the right idea, out to lunch and cinema. It's too chilly to be outside in a T shirt, and too warm with a fleece on. NEVER HAPPY ARE WE lol
Mel, I often look up at my posting and find there is nothing there ;-) ;-) ;-) It just stops showing the typing on the page. Why it does it is beyond me !!!!
I am now going to sit in the shower and try to relax, with nice hot water flowing over me. Then I suppose it will be my book.!!!

Sorry to hear you are not feeling too strong Frank, I have sent you my e-mail for the jokes and look forward to receiving them :-D
Mel I am also finding when sending messages that they look o.k. before I submit them but then spaces appear in the wrong places.
Poor Amy only got a very short path walk as the rain started again, so she decided to turn round and back home, I didn't get to the chemist either.
We are having a Chinese meal tonight from Sainsbury it only needs popping in the oven. The hairdresser is coming at 5 and it makes it easier
I received a dead mouse in the kitchen this morning not sure which cat is responsible but my guess it is probably Toby. They are all in now Toby & Shadow in the conservatory and Timmy on my bedroom chair
I didn't watch Lewis but recorded it, I did watch the very last episode of New Tricks which was a bit of a let down. I found the news very sad today they showed the wife and young daughters of the policeman that was murdered laying flowers at the crime scene, I hope they lock the culprits up and throw away the key.
Just going to have some soup for my lunch.

Anne I thought the last episode of New Tricks was a bit strange to. They just seem to cut it off and that was that and all very quickly too.
The sun is in and out here this afternoon but the breeze is chilly. I have just put a line of washing out so I hope the breeze does it some good as one of the things is oh's toweling robe and it's thick.
Hope Jane and Chris enjoy thier lunch out and the film. Nothing worse than paying for aload of rubbish........ :-|
Last Doctor Foster tonight and I am wondering how thats going to end.

Would you believe I got into the shower and sat down on the stool. It's very low, anyway I had a good shower and washed my hair. I COULDN'T GET UP of the stool, The grip handle has two plungers that hold it to the tiles, but sometimes if you put too much weight on it, it comes off the wall. So I turned off the shower and opened the doors, got on my hands and knees and crawled out to get my towel. I pulled myself up on the basin and sat on the toilet seat to dry myself off. It was no good calling for "HELP" as Ros was down the bottom of the garden.
Anyway, I am all dressed and have been sitting down, so I feel a bit better now. I must remember NOT TO SIT ON THE STOOL. :-D :-D :-D :-D
Nearly there now Pat. We only use the T.D. for the towels, everything else goes on the line or the radiators to air.
Poor Amy, not getting her walk. We haven't had rain today, but it's been very windy.
I walked down the garden to tell Ros to come in, and she has cleared a WHOLE BED od Grass's and big plants, including the roots. Well she is YOUNG !!! The green bin was so heavy I had a job to pull it up the garden and get it through the back gate. It was only emptied Yesterday. So neighbours WATCH OUT we will be looking for more space to get rid of the rubbish. ;-) ;-) ;-) ;-)
I will make her a COT and get her a piece of cake now, she deserves it LOL

Afternoon all ,
Cloudy first thing and then it turned really foggy here ,we were going to the coast but changed our minds when we saw the fog , we went out for some lunch came home full to the brim i couldn't eat all mine and even hubby left some ,they certainly give you good size portions !!
Frank i think you need to get a handle that you can screw to the tiles to help you up ,those suction ones i wouldn't like to trust ,we have a loo roll holder like that with the suction cups and it's always coming off ,we some times hear a lump in the night when it drops on the laminate flooring in the bathroom .
I had to think about that joke Frank, was he counting the number who had looked through the hole in the fence ?
Mel we always buy our eggs from the farm they are so much better than the ones in the shops they have lovely golden yolks ,some are double yolks ,they also sell little pullet eggs too.
Anne you and Jane could have a contest seeing who's cat catches the most mice in a week :-0 :-D
We recorded Lewis last night and still have some to watch from the last series , we're looking forward to seeing the final of the bake off tonight .
Not long before your in then Pat ,you must be itching to get your things in now.
I wonder what treasures Ann and OH have found in the house today !!

Yes I always wait for Ann's post to see what they have uncovered when they have been to the house.
The trouble they have is that the skip if they get one is so far away from home they won't be able to keep their eye on it and it's not relly the thing you can ask a neighbour to do. They need to make covers for the skips that are locked on when you leave them so nobody but you can get into them.

Why did the fellow over the fence have a stick in his hand Frank?
Hello to Anne and Harry. I only post occasionally. I like to read what everyone else is doing, but I'm afraid I forget very quickly. :- I was born in Wiltshire, but have lived in the USA since 1962. Reading this thread is like a little piece of home. My birthday is also in December, but one year behind Anne and Frank.
I read an article the other day Annx, about dementia, and it apparently is usual for those suffering from it, to buy the same item many times because, of course, they have forgotten buying it in the first place. Very sad. Also, many older people get confused with their finances and are easy to fall for scams, so many banks will notify family if they see unusual activity in a member's account.
Frank, are there any exercise programmes for seniors on TV that you could do? Simple exercises can help when we do them regularly. If we don't use our muscles, they soon deteriorate. I can't get up from a low seat either. :-(
Happy for Pat to be moving in to your new quarters this week.
