The policeman who was murdered only lives down the road from me Anne. I've just been watching it on the news......how sad. They have arrested 6 people so far.
There is a candlelit vigial at New Brighton starting now (7pm).

So you're almost there Pat. I'll keep my fingers crossed for you and hope you can move in over the weekend.

Sorry to hear you had problems in the shower Frank, glad you managed to sort yourself out ok in the end. Rosie was looking a bit thinner so I'm not sure how much she had eaten before she turned up at ours. I've not seen her since, but have seen quite a lively tiny squirrel jumping around our garden and burying anything and everything it finds......food wise, so know doubt I'll end up with oak trees and the like popping up in all my pots plants LOL.

You must be looking after your girls much better than anyones Mel, if your girls eggs are better than everyone else's. Hope you get the third egg you need ready for your big breakfast on Sunday.

How was your film today Jane, hope you liked it and enjoyed your lunch with Chris?

The weather was lovely here after a rainy start to the day, so I've managed to finish all the painting now and OH has put the electrics in the garage, so my freezer is plugged in and should be ready to use tomorrow.

I've just watched the weather and they said there's a good chance we could see the Northern Lights tonight, here in the North West......It's gone a bit cloudy, I hope it clears soon, as I'd love to see the Lights. It's something I've always wanted to watch.

Off to get a cuppa now

Evening All

Well Pat at least you don't have far to move on Friday :-D :-DJust think back in your own bed very soon :-D

Mel how disappointing buying all those eggs off friends and finding them so bad.I reckon your girls must be the best fed in the whole area :-D :-D..I hope they start giving you more eggs soon.2 isn't enough.

Oh dear Frank another disaster in the shower :-S..I would get rid of the handle withthe suckers on and get a really solid one fixed. You could have come a right cropper.
Shame your Liver wasn't to your liking last night.Better luck next time :-D
Nothing to eat for me tonight.I had a massive Pizza and a starter at lunch time.
The film was brilliant and very funny. It was nice to hear the whole cinema in laughter.
It had Robert Redford and Nick Nolte as lead characters.

It was shocking about the death of that young Policeman.I too saw the family on the news. What a lovely family they seem to be,and now these 2 little girls without their Daddy :-( :-(

Well the G B Bake Off is just starting and the the final of Dr Foster ,so I am off :-D

Anne Report 7 Oct 2015 20:10

Hello Ruby
Fortunately my husband's dementia which was not a long term thing as it was caused through a brain tumour and only surfaced during the last few months of his life the worst part was the double incontinence. Being in accountancy I was always in charge of our finances and most of our shopping I did online. My husband's elderly Aunt had this in her 90's and when calling on her one day got no answer but could smell burning he was about to kick the door in when she opened it and thought her mother had left the cooker on!! It was very sad because she had lost her only child a few years prior to this and thought she was still alive and would wonder why she didn't keep in touch.

Gill, I my brother used to live in the area near you when he worked at the Walker Art Gallery it was a long time ago now as it was his first job since graduating.
He had a flat overlooking the Mersey.which he shared with a friend.

I hope Jane and Chris enjoyed the film and meal,

Millymolly I thing Jane's Thomas would win the contest easily, the worst thing we have had was a live rat that escaped under the cooker and through a gap into the utility room we had to have the rat catcher visit for that one, My next door neighbour has a large aviary in her garden and seems to attract the wild life she also leaves monkey nuts out for the squirrels

Glad you are feeling better Frank

Yes yes yes I got my third egg tonight when I went round to corn them so now I have our three for Sunday.

We went to Hatherleigh this evening for some petrol for the mower and brought fish and chips to bring home for dinner. It was very nice and not so greasy as the ones from Holsworthy.

I started writing this at thed begining of the Bake Off program and watched it all.......

what a great final and those lovely cakes.

Evening All,

Yes, I didn't get the joke straightaway either.......it's a good one......must tell OH as it's the sort he would like too.

Oh it won't be long now Pat! It will be good for you to be moving in soon and sorting your belongings out. I have never owned or used a tumble dryer either. My washing machine is a dryer as well but only dries a small amount at a time but is handy for emergencies. MIL has a tumble drier but we'll try and sell it or leave it at the house.

We were talking about the skip today and have decided to clear everything so just stuff for the skip is left. We can dismantle the wardrobes and get them and other furniture all downstairs ready as well and will be able to tell better what size skip to get. Then we'll be nice and fresh to spend a day just chucking the stuff in. The plan is to put all the things that are too big to fit in the car in the skip first, chucking smaller things in there in between to fill the gaps. Ideally they could take the skip away the same day then. If there was anything or not much left over we could run the rest to the tip in our car. Hopefully we'll be a bit fitter by then with all the exercise we are getting sorting and carrying.

We started on the shed today, filling the boot with paint tins to take to our tip down the road tomorrow morning. We quickly realised that FIL had done just the same in the shed as in the house and had probably taken the boxroom over once he couldn't put anything else in the shed, even after extending it! The stuff we found (up to now!) in the shed is older. Every time some work has been done on the house he appears to have kept all the old stuff!! Box after box of more of the (no longer legal) electric cable from when the house was rewired is rolled into neat bundles and kept in tin boxes, but all mixed up with nuts, bolts, connectors and rubbish and pencils, the odd penknife or other knife mixed in. Again, lots of other old cables off things too. All the old bakelite light switches and sockets, 3 brass stopcocks, numerous old taps and fittings, umpteen radiator valves!! Even a box of what looks like old television or radio valves that used to light up. There was a box full of those brass ornaments that were popular once, cowbells and windmills etc and they were wrapped in newspaper dated 1960. All the old car stuff has been kept including 4 windscreen scrapers, some broken, stick on sun visor, every kind of cleaner for it and spare lightbulbs and other parts. Every bit of wood or metal he has cut off something seems to have been kept, even the ends of chair legs he cut down! It did turn my stomach though when OH pulled an old toilet brush out!!!! Yuk, yuk!! Why keep that!!!! There's a massive wooden crate wedged under one of the workbenches we've left for another time, so gawd knows what's in that! It looks like something you'd move wild animals in. When we'd had enough today and stood outside with our faces covered in smuts and our old clothes with their daily coating of dust grey, OH looked around and said 'it's just like Steptoe's yard here'. lol. :-S I think getting below the surface and seeing just how bad these habits have been has shocked both of us.

Another thing I found in the house today was a new packet of 2 dozen stainless steel clothes pegs that had been opened but not used. I didn't even know they made them! I think they hadn't been used because the spring clips were very strong. The bill with them showed they were £14.99.:-S

Mel, your eggs are lovely! Yum, yum! I'm sure it is because of their diet and all the greenstuff and insects they get to eat that makes the yolks such a deep golden colour and so tasty. When mum and dad had chickens, they laid delicious eggs too and would often be let out in the garden for a while to peck greenstuff. I would also be sent to pick them chickweed etc and they had all the cabbage trimmings and sprout stalks things like that. Mum would boil up all the vegetable peelings to go in their mash too. Our eggs all come from the farm shop and they are free range in the field next to the shop. I often go and say hello to them. :-)

The film sounds good Jane. We are having a 'day off' tomorrow as I'm off to the hairdressers in the morning and we were wondering about going to an apple festival or seeing a film. I think OH wants to see the film Macbeth though.

I think it's time to get one of those hand grips that are screwed on Frank. It's not worth risking a fall on the bathroom floor if they are losing their grip.

Annx Report 7 Oct 2015 21:04

Yes, I'm sure that FIL may well have forgotten what he'd bought in more recent years Ruby and although MIL would have been quick to tell him he still may not have been able to find things. The thing is though it's been happening for decades that I know of and MIL has been the same with buying certain things like all the baking trays. He seems to have never been able to throw anything away either.

It is very sad Anne and when FIL was in hospital recently after a fall at the home, he thought MIL had already died, and that he'd been to OH's funeral as well and was all alone in the world. He sometimes talks about his childhood home as if he is still living there. I think one of the saddest things I read about a man with dementia was of him trying to feed the man in the mirror. That really brought home to me the awfulness of it.

Better go and watch some recordings now.

Gillx Report 7 Oct 2015 21:19

just finished watching the G B Bakeoff, so pleased with who won, Sandra and I wanted that result. I'm trying not to say to much, incase any of you haven't seen it yet ;-) ;-)

That must of been nice for your brother Anne, having a view of the Mersey. I live a bit more inland in Pensby Wirral. It's a village about 5 miles away from Birkenhead and about 1 mile from Heswall.
What a shock that must of been when you had the live rat in your kitchen. Only one of our cats hunted, but luckily only ever brought dead things back to us, birds and mice, things like that. We had 3 cats in total, but sadly they have all passed away now.

How's the weather now at yours Ruby, has it settled down a bit? You were telling us how bad it was last time you posted.

Sandra's asked if we can watch another Christmas film I recorded last week, so I'd better go as I have put it on hold. She loves Christmas and had us looking around all the Christmas stuff in the shops this morning......Bless her <3

Just noticed your posts Mel and Ann

So now you have the 3 eggs you wanted Mel. You never know, there maybe more before Sunday.

I can't believe how much stuff you are finding Ann, it's going to take you ages to get through it all. Good idea to sort through it first then hire the skip when you know how much rubbish you have to throw in it. If you are breaking the wardrobes up you can put them along the sides which might make the sides slightly higher so you can put a little more in. I've seen this done before, but be careful not to go to high as they might not take it away.

Off to watch the film with Sandra and OH now

Ann I bet the first thing you want when youget home is a good shower after being covered in all the dust and dirt rooting thrugh the shed.

Sounds to me like when my dad bought the house to make into two flats when I got married. The house was his solicitors sisters who had been crossed in love and never married after that. They took 4 dustcart loads of papers and tins out of the bottom three rooms. Dad said when you went through the front door you could just squeeze through to the other rooms for tins stacked either side of the passage with piles and piles of papers up the stairs. As the dustmen were taking out the piles of papers paper money was falling out of them and Mr. Collier was saying to them leave those as I have'nt been through them yet. there were years and years of birthday and christmas cards all in piles not opened and there was money presetns in those too. dad also said you could wlk through and pick up gold and silver jewelry everywhere. Also buckets of water with dead rats in as she had no water connected to the house and no leccy either. He would'nt let me see the house till he had cleared it all out and washed everything down with strong disinfectant. I lived in that house for 4 and a half years till we moved back to very near mum and dad.

Well I am off for a nice shower now.

Doctor Foster was good tonight, I'll say no more incase anyone has recorded it.

Night night see you all in the morning.

Morning all

Looks like it's going to be a sunny day today

I've recorded the whole series of Doctor Foster, so I'm planning on watching them all together this morning, before I go to my mum's this afternoon.

It was to cloudy to see the Northern Lights last night :-( :-( I'm a bit disappointed about that.

The Agents coming tomorrow to re-take a couple of photo's. They've finally put the floorplan online, so that's good. We got some feedback from the viewing we had the other day and apparently they said our property is a bit big, so they are thinking about it. They exchange contracts on their property this week and will be back down here sometime next week, but weather they'll want to come and see ours again I don't know yet.

What is everyone else up to today, anything nice?

Hope everyone slept well last night, I went out the min my head touched the pillow.

Morning and Evening to all my Friends,

The chap behind the fence with a stick, was poking people in the eye that's why he was calling out the numbers.

I don't usually sit down in the shower, it was just that I was so shaky I thought it would be best to sit down ;-) ;-) ;-)

Oh Ann, what a lot of stuff you have uncovered in the shed. A scrap dealer might be interested in all that Electric cable and brass whatsits. You may get a few quid for the scrap. Better than the TIP MEN sorting it and selling it on !!!

You watch Mel, The little girls will lay a few more before the weekend, to show you that they "LOVE" you :-D :-D :-D

Mandy, Today looks much better for a trip to the coast, F & C on the sea front for lunch. Move over I will squeeze in the car beside you ;-) ;-) ;-) Blue sky's and fluffy white clouds here.

I think it's very true, that the older you get you tend to forget what you have bought in the passed. I was looking for more hooks on Monday to hang the picture and found THREE plastic boxes of them, UN-OPENED. Fuses I have everywhere, 3,5, 10, and 13 amp. There are some in my screwdriver boxes, in the lounge drawer and in the kitchen "ODDS AND SODS DRAWER"

I've put the washing line up, and carried the basket of washing out to the lawn. I am not allowed to hang it out as I "don't do it right" When she is out I do it, so what's the difference ???

Ann, It's nice that you have stayed with us, and I am glad to see you are joining in with the chat.

I see they have arrested FOUR MORE over the policeman's Murder. I wonder what that is all about. ?? I just don't know what's happening to this Country. You don't seem to be safe wherever you go. I watch a lot of POLICE programmes and the KNIFE crimes and ABH and GBH seems to be on the increase.

Nothing planned for me today (apart from going to the coast with Mandy) LOL so will sit with my book and get dinner later. Chicken Casserole tonight, with carrots, onions, tomatoes in the gravy, with mash and cabbage. I might even make a bread and butter pudding as the oven will be on. OR a rice pudding. Madam says a "RICE PUDDING"

Off for my STAND UP SHOWER

See you all later, enjoy your day, whatever you are doing.

Frank Report 8 Oct 2015 15:39

What an horrendous day we have had here. The neighbours had a new boiler fitted yesterday. They have a slight special needs daughter who lives most of the time in her own space upstairs. Lovely girl who we have a good laugh and joke with. Anyway, because of this they have a bath and two showers. The Gas Board found there was not enough gas pressure. So they started to investigate (as they do) and found the reason for it was the mains pipe wasn't wide enough. They started yesterday and have continued all day today, in taking up the old mains to the house and laying new. There are BIG holes in the pavements on both sides of the road, and the "JACK HAMMER" has been going most of today. With my bad head, the noise has given me a massive head ache, to the point where I have been sitting with EAR PLUGS IN. I can't watch T.V. so I have been reading in between dozing in the armchair.

Ros has been down the garden all day digging more things out of the border, she wants to reduce the size of the borders, by putting more turf down the lawn. How on earth we are going to do that I don't know. A job for someone who knows what they are doing ( HER SON HARVEY) But I don't see that happening any time soon somehow :-( :-( :-( :-( I will have to have a word with the lad across the road.

Stayed fine but chilly here. I had my bucket and spade ready for the beech MANDY.!!

You will have SQUARE EYES Jane with all these Cinema visits. ;-) ;-) ;-) Were you lunching out again ???

I have drank in the "BLIND BEGGER" pub in the Mile End Road, where the Krays murdered one of the gang. I'm pleased to say our paths never crossed. !!!!

Time for tea for Madam. She loves to be in the garden more than being in doors ;-) ;-)

Anne Report 8 Oct 2015 16:06

Good Afternoon everyone

I have been busy packing as we are off to Hastings tomorrow for a week, the main reason for going is its Mark our eldest son's 52nd birthday on Monday and will be taking him out for the day both my other sons are coming plus Amy of course. We have rented a house in St Leonards an area I know well because it isn't far from where my parent's bungalow was. Peter's youngest sister lives on the outskirts with her husband and we are visiting them for a meal one of the days and one of his brothers and his wife will be visiting us another day, they live in Ashford, Kent not too far away. My next door neighbour is kindly feeding the cats for me, she is another animal lover with 2 cats and 2 dogs of her own and two of her daughters work in a local pet boarding centre. One of the days I hope to visit Tenterden and have a look at my childhood home as its grade 2 listed it won't look very different then we can go into Rye another favourite place.

Christmas must be something to look forward to Gill with Sandra really enjoying it.
My 2 granddaughters who are now in their teens are not so excited about it now which is a shame, they are also difficult to buy for being very choosey so its money for their main presents and I shall buy lots of girly thing as well.

Did you choose new books to read Mel, who are your favourite authors? I can't go past a bookshop so have a lot of books still unread,

Well I must go and feed the fish and get the vegies ready for later, it depends what time my son gets home as he works for a builder who does extensions and finishing time varies and then he has to shower before eating hopefully it will be about 5 but could be as late as 6.30

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 8 Oct 2015 17:47

I did the library and it was my fav girl on there today. I don't like the man as he is a big head and always has to tell you stories of the good he has done in his life and he always has the radio on and that puts me off of reading what the books are about.

I got 4 talking books which look as though they may be alright. Last time I just could'nt get into one of them as I could'nt stand the voice of the women who was reding it and she read in a sort of tune if you know what I mean.

When I went to the girls this morning one was in the nest box but when I went back later to give them the outside leaves off my lettuce she must have been prctising because there was nothing in the box. Now its time to corn them.

I had two lots of washing ont he line and oh was mowing the lawns and it started to rain just as he had finished and I had to get the washing in as it was quite heavily raining and one of the things was my thick toweling robe from the second wash!! That just had to go in the dryer as I was'nt putting that out and in between hsowers. Anyway the suns out again now so I may put some stuff back on the line.

Been up for oh script I added to his list and got soaked talking to a friend (our reader in church) who was walking her little dog. I did'nt get a chance to talk to her at the dog show and she had enter her new little dog in a few things and he did'nt win a thing!! bless but she said he was more interested in having his nose to the ground and eating grass.

I also had to go to the shop as I forgot my little brown loaf when I went shopping. I eat more of mine in a week than oh and I did'nt forget his white!! The fish seem to get more of his than he does he has wraps each day for lunch.

Hope Jane and Fitz enjoy the film.

Going back to the Krays, I knew some of them and the people who worked for them. My first hubby used to drive them to clubs up the westend and wait for them to bring them home again. They used to buy him a good meal too and give him a hefty tip. They used to go to the Sombrero in Ilford high st a lot and once while he was waiting for them to come out they came out with the blimmin cash till and got in the car with it. He told me after empting it they threw it over a bridge into the river somewhere.

Jane

Jane Report 8 Oct 2015 18:11

Back from the Film Eh Heck it was pretty violent :-S..What an evil pair the Krays were and Ronnie as mad as a box of frogs. The chap who played both twins did a fantastic job.He was brilliant...Yes it was Jack the Hat who was killed in the Blind Beggar I think.I am pretty sure that Peter my B Brother said that that was the pub my B Mother went to sometimes. He grew up there and was used to seeing all the Gansters and Barbara Windsor. He said the best thing for him was when he was sent to boarding school at the age of 11 or 12.I think the Government paid as he was classed as a vulnerable child.(I'm not suprised )Even so he did get into trouble later on and spent a time in prison.Thankfully he is a changed person now ,and says that back then it was noraml life being brought up amongst these kind of people .I know I have said before but thank heavens I was adopted .Life would have been very different for me had I not been.

Anne it sounds like you have a lovely week coming up :-D :-D,and the weather looks like it is improving still :-D.You are lucky your neighbour can look after the cats.I had to put Thomas in a Cattery as there is no-one here I could have asked to look after him for nearly 2 weeks.

Frank the noise must have been horrendous today .I hope all the digging has now been finished and tomorrow will be a peaceful day.

Yes Mel did you get to the library van????? and have you got some good books ?

Ann ,how much longer do you think it will take now to clear the house..I am shocked at all you are finding and still to find !!!! It's quite amazing .

I meant to say yesterday that Chris has discovered his Skoda Yeti is one of the cars affected by the VW emissions thingy :-S :-S :-S...He was not amused. So he has now registered it and it will now be a waiting game.

I must get these Chicken Breasts in the oven .I hadn't realised how late it was.The film was well over 2 hrs long and then Fitz wanted to go to Aldi to stock up on wine so I am late getting home.
No Frank no lunch out today.Just the film.
Mandy I think everyone is so used to seeing me with Fitz or Chris LOL..I did used to wonder if people thought I might be 'playing away' :-D :-D..and I know a few times I have made it quite clear that he is just my friend and neighbour. Not that I should have to explain..I think anyone should be able to have friends of the opposite sex.
Chris has lunch out once a month with Sue who was a good friend when he was working and I certainly have no problem with that.

Pat are you all ready for tomorrow? I hope so :-D

I think all the noise has finished next door. There are two piles of Clay and muck, one on each side of the road with fence things round them, and gas signs on both side of the road. They will be back tomorrow to finish off.

Have a nice time in Hastings Ann, I will be thinking of the lovely time spent on a seat by the weather station, opposite my friends apartment reading my book and soaking up the sun.

Mel, How do you stop and start these talking books. ?? I have a player and a couple of books, but have never tried them.

Yes Jane I expect the film was a bit OTT but that's what those two maniacs were like. :-( :-( :-( Are either of them still alive.??

Did you see that BAST##D who killed that policeman on the news. I would take him out and hang him from the nearest tree. !!! No sign of remorse at all.

EastEnders is just finishing, so I will sign off, see you all in the morning.
