That was quite a party for Ella with nineteen Frank. I can just imagine the noise! lol

Our neighbours have fruit trees on the front, but no-one walks by so the fruit doesn't get pinched! I would have them in the back garden too as they are best where the leaves fall on grass and will be sucked up by the mower. At my last house the neighbour had very tall lilac trees all along the side of my tarmac drive. The wind always seemed to blow my way and the leaves all fell on my driveway, knee deep while his gravel the other side of the trees didn't get any!! My garage had folding doors and I would have to sweep them away just to open them. He did sometimes come round to sweep them up though and I would get home to find the drive looking pristine. :-)

This afternoon I changed the bed, did some washing, cleaned the en suite, froze more tomatoes and cleaned the kitchen sink and worktops, so have had a good day all told. Tomorrow I shall be filling my car boot and back seat (covered with an old sheet first as I don't want to wreck my light tan leather!) with rusty old tins and a mountain of biscuit tins, metal and plastic at the house while OH dismantles some of the downstairs furniture units. I can drop them at the tip on the way home as they would take a lot of room up in the skip. I would think there are enough for at least 3 trips. Jane, the house looked very cluttered to us but ok as everything was neatly stored and tidy. We never went in the upstairs rooms or shed when we visited. It was only when we started clearing it that we realised how much was squirrelled away everywhere.

I can understand Carmel's worry William. It sounds like a variation of the situation with my in laws earlier this year and must be always on her mind. Even if you are there though there is not always much you can do.

Evening all,

Not a bad day today we saw a little bit of sun at times but it's been really chilly ,i was late hanging washing out and it didn't really get dry it was still quite damp when i got it in so they can go out again tomorrow .

Well hello stranger :-D welcome back David it's lovely to see you back with us, how are you and Ellen ?

Gosh you will be on first name terms with the tip people Ann with all these trips :-D
Sounds as if you are getting there though and once you start loading the skip you'll feel as if your really getting some where .
I loved the wording on the matchbox :-D :-D

Christmas is starting early in your house then Gill :-D i think it's lovely that Sandra wants to learn to cook ,does she help when you do the baking ? what about making biscuits with a little icing on and some silver balls that's a bit christmasy .

I think we will be having an early night we both feel tired .

Oh i meant to tell you about some thing little Lacey said the other day ...DIL was asking which one of them had dropped some Rice Crispies on the floor .....after a while little Lacey piped up with ......" ok it was me problem solved " :-D :-D

DIL said it sounded so funny hearing a three year old come out with that ,she thinks she must have heard her teacher say it at nursery.

Yes Jane it's a whole chicken but my oven isn't very big so if it's not turned over it burns. I prefer my old cooker there was no need to turn the chicken in that one. The shelves on this one are to close together, I've tried moving them but then they are to far down the oven, so turning the chicken seems to be the best way of cooking it. I've always wanted a really big cooker like a range one but my kitchen is far to small for one of those. Maybe if I ever get a bigger kitchen I could treat myself to the cooker I'd really like.

You asked where my sister lived in Plymouth, unfortunately I can't remember as it was about 20 years ago, sorry. I do remember going to the beach and there was a lighthouse, I think painted red and white and boy was it windy.....funny the things you remember isn't it? Yes that journey on the M5 is not a pleasant one, we made the trip quite a few times and it did feel longer each time we did it.

The first time we went to Plymouth to see my sister, was when her husband got lost at Mount Kinabalu in Borneo and nearly died.

He was one of the lost soldiers. I don't know if any of you saw it on the news back in 1994 or not? He was flown to Hong Kong and then came back to Britain, so OH and I went to hers to look after her two small children while she went to the airport to meet him and then onto the hospital, he ended up with Malaria and was extremely ill. Sandy (my sister) stayed with him for a while and when they both returned home he looked like a skeleton he'd lost that much weight......a very frightening time, the soldiers were missing for about 25 days, after an Army training exercise went wrong. Her husband changed a lot after that, a changed personality and unfortunately the marriage broke down.

Thanks for explaining the Christmas card William, it was a bit strange you saying there were two different address's, hope your card gets to him ok.

It sounds like you're getting there Pat and I bet the dogs were pleased to have a walk on the Beach after not having one for a few days.

Did your OH finish the roof on the shed Mel? The weather stayed sunny here after a damp start to the day, which was nice, although it wasn't very warm.

Glad to hear you managed to cut your lawns Frank. Has Ros finished her jobs in the garden now or has she still got more things to do?

OH's watching his football at the moment, England are playing so he's happy and Sandra has gone off in the other room to watch her programme, so I'm taking a look at my family tree again. I've just had a reply from one of the messages I sent from a woman who knows my 2nd cousin, she is going to let her know I'm on Genes, so hopefully we'll be able to talk soon, all being well. I've got a feeling the 2nd cousin is one of the people I've sent a message too, so with a bit of luck she'll reply and we can compare trees.

Going to get a cuppa now, then check my messages and have another look at my tree.

How funny Mandy what little Lacey said to her mum, it did make me laugh :-D :-D

Yes Sandra seems to want to do all sorts for Christmas, She normally just looks at me bake then eats what I've made, but this year she wants to do some things herself. Biscuits sound like a good idea.

I think Mandy's right Ann, you'll soon be on first name terms with everyone at the tip and will be exchanging Christmas cards at this rate LOL ;-)

It sounds like you've been busy with your own housework to today. Don't over do it, you need to rest a bit if you can sometimes. Like Frank said the jobs will still be there tomorrow, so one day off won't do any harm, you don't want to make yourself ill with it all <3

Hello David, nice to meet you, I'm Gill and have been on the thread for almost a year now. Everyone has made me feel very welcome.

Well, OH's football has finished, so I'm going to watch one of my programmes off the planner now. I'm getting through them all.......slowly :-)

Went to Holsworthy this afternoon.

So glad to see our David back and welcome once again..............hope all the bungalow is finished now David. How's the leg now??

Just as I was leaving Holsworthy I remembered I had to pick my hoover up and there was a parking space just outside the shop. I had to explain to the fella in there what was going on and then another man took over as it was nearly closing time. He said the engineer could'nt find anything wrong with it. I said that it had had all new parts that could be replaced by Dyson so was more or less a new machine. Well the man said I will have to charge you £40. O no no no I said it is still under guarutee (sp) and to that he said he would ring me tomorrow. I am not paying anything no matter what they say as it was they who asked me to bring it in for their engineer to look at.

Anyway I treated myself to 4 new polo neck cotton tops that now making 6 I have so the old ones can go in the bin. Got two pressies for aunty Joy, some big hooks oh wanted, my chicken food and oh bought me a calender for Christmas as it was one I liked. He dos'nt mind if I get what I want and he pays for it. I also bought a little pressy for Di in the heart foundation shop. It is a nice little fairy so I know she will be pleased with that.

William give my love and wishes to Carmel and hope the problems with her brother can be sorted to both their requirements. It is so hard when you have been together for many years to be parted so I hope they can be sorted out soon with somewhere safe for them both to live. It will seem funny without those trees overlooking your garden but as you say a help with the leaf problem.

See Frank's been busy cutting the lawn. Thats the biggest bit done and now only the edges to do.

The legs not well, but the cause of that is my fault.

Cold dark and wet this morning, The sun's shining some where. :-)

Morning all and evening Kim,

Well the suns shining here David.......sorry. Good to have you back on board. How is Ellen now and have you had all the alterations done on the house now?

Its that dreadful day again.......Donkey Day. and Thursday is Dentist Day so two bad days this week instead of just the one.

I meant to say in my post yesterday that oh did get all the roofing sheets on the new shed all on his own. He was a bit worried the roof would'nt take his weight for him to get on it and screw it down but he should'nt have because I made sure he had done the first sheet before I went out. I do wish my new pc would'nt pinch my pictures so I could send you some. I shall have to get oh to download my camers as I have so many on there it must be nearly full!! There is only the glass to buy now for the window in the front of the shed and we have to go to Bideford for that.

Morning all,
Cloudy here and i don't think it will be to long before we have rain by the look of the sky ,the washing is on the line so will have to keep an eye out.

Just washed my floors so i thought i would have a coffee while they dry.

Sounds as if the shed is nearly water tight then Mel with just the window to be done.
What a cheek expecting you to pay £40 pound for them to check the hoover ,i would have said no too !!

Sorry to hear Carmel is feeling poorly William, hope she's feeling a little better today .

I don't like the look of the sky now ,think i'd better poke my head out the door just in case it starts off as a drizzle ,you carn't always see that just by looking out the window.

Morning Chatter box's, Evening Kim.

Welcome back David and Will, I am like the "Spare part "on here all alone amongst all these" Girls"

Yes Jane the SHANKS are the ones from Ald# Two in a box, there was so much meat on them, and the gravy filled the bottom of the plate. The mash soaked a lot up as did the other veg. But boy did I get indigestion. It almost spoilt my beer. :-D :-D :-D I had my Gavist#n before going to bed.

I expect you will be telling us of all your time spent away from us David. I do hope your leg isn't too bad these days.

Will. Carmel is bound to be worried about the family across the Irish Sea. She wouldn't be normal if she didn't. Wish her well from me Please. xxx

Good job I got the lawns done yesterday. We had rain last night while I was out, and it doesn't look very promising this morning.

Pat I am pleased things are getting sorted out in your new home, and the dogs have settled, and enjoy their beech walks. I hope you aren't stopping at the pub on every walk. hic. hic.

Mandy, Lacy certainly had an answer for you !! cheeky little monkey, where do they hear these things.??

More cooking instructions for Sandra then Gill. She will soon take over, and you can sit back and enjoy her cooking :-D :-D Well you can HOPE !!!!

Ros is out with Carolyn at about 11.00 am. They will do the rounds as usual, and end up having lunch somewhere, before getting to Tesc# for the Odds and Sods before coming home about 5.00 pm. I will have a nice quiet day reading and watching NAT GEO.

Mel, Have you heard from Harry again ?? What size hooks did you get OH ?? I assume they were fishing hooks ??

Time for my Bacon Sarnie and another COT. See you later.

Mel Fairy Godmother

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 13 Oct 2015 11:05

Not for fishing Frank as he has'nt been this year at all. They are big screw in hooks about three inches long to screw into the lean to to hold the tarp where he parks the mowers for the winter.

Still being good............................................................ :-D :-D :-D :-D :-D

O I meant to say that the man rang from the hoover shop this morning and they said they would give me a good cashback on my hoover if I buy another one there. BUT they only seem to have Dy*ons and if this small one dos'nt work will any of the bigger ones?????????

Nothing was said about the £40.

Ellen has had two replacement knees since I done mine.

She's making a good recovery.

Gillx Report 13 Oct 2015 11:59

Morning all

Lovely and sunny here today, so I'm taking advantage of it and washing all the bedding, plus the mountain of clothes

Yes Frank, it would be nice if Sandra does some of the cooking, I think she'll be ok with small things and then she can build up to bigger things as she goes along. It's all good experience and stuff she needs to know if ever she moves into a place of her own. I just need to explain to her again that when she is cooking it's wise to stay close to the kitchen rather than going to her room. She didn't quite understand that, but luckily I was here to keep an eye on things and she'll soon learn that it's safer to stay closer just incase something goes wrong.

It sounds like your OH had a good day yesterday Mel getting the roof finished, when is he putting the glass in? Hope the weather stays nice long enough for him to get the job done. Glad to hear you're still being good <3 Keep it up.

It sounds like the man from the hoover shop just wants you to buy another Dy*on and like you said if the first one didn't work then chances are the second one won't either. Maybe you could buy another make of hoover or hire one to see if it trips your leccy out first, then if it doesn't you'll know what make to buy next time.
Hope you can get your pooter working soon so we can see some of the photo's you've taken.

Glad to hear Ellen is making a good recovery David. Is she your wife?

Well, I'd better go and peg out my washing, the machine finished a while ago and if I don't peg it out soon it won't dry. Hope the weather stays nice for you Mandy so your washing dries too.
See you all later <3

WRONG HOOKS !!!!

The sun is trying to break through. We have a BIG stretch of cloud then the blue sky. It does seem strange.

It seems everything is O.K. with the gas next door. The lorries have been here this morning, with cement and sand to repair the hole outside their kitchen windows and another lorry with tarmac and roller to do the pavements. (MORE PATCHES) !!!

Nice easy dinner tonight. Ros has a frozen Chinese meal in the freezer, and I will do something for me. Maybe F & C or a mixed grill.

Tony next door and the local art group have an exhibition all this week in the Church between 11.00 am and 5.00 pm. So will take a walk down there and see what's on offer between now and Friday. Not that we have any room for more paintings :-D :-D :-D

Back to my book for a while, then a bit of lunch. WHAT SHALL I HAVE ????

Gillx

Gillx Report 13 Oct 2015 14:54

A mixed grill sounds nice Frank, I haven't had one of those for ages. So the gas is now sorted? At least you won't have all that hammering now, so you'll have some peace and quiet to read your book. What book are you reading now?

The sun's going behind the clouds here, so I'm not sure if my washing will dry, I've still got a bit more to do, but I need to dry my hair first before it goes all tangly I've just had a lovely hot bath and feel all relaxed.
My hair conditioner is a raspberry one, so I smell like a fruit bowl now LOL
See you all later <3
