Afternoon all,
Not a day for the washing to go out , we have lovely blue sky one minute and then down comes the rain .
What an ordeal your poor BIL went through Gill no wonder he was a changed man ,he was very lucky to get out of there . Sandra will be pleased if we get lots of snow she'll be able to make her snowman this year :-D :-D
I don't blame you for having a day off Ann you both need a rest after all the work you've been doing clearing the house . There's so many things i bet the shop at the dogs home have been very pleased with all you've taken in .
Hubby went to the doctors this morning for his blood test result for his prostate ,good news there's no cancer but he has got an enlarged prostate so he now has tablets to take and has to go back in six weeks time . We've both been a bit on edge waiting for the result ,you never know what the result will be do you ,it was such a relief when the doctor told him no cancer .
I now have to knit another Hedge Hog ,little Lacey has been learning about Hedge Hogs in nursery and this morning she took her Hedge Hog in that i knitted for her ,when the teacher saw it she loved it and she asked DIL if i would knit one for them to keep in school .
Chicken in a sauce mix for us tonight with Jacket potatoes and veg ,i'am still picking the runner beans, got another good hand full this morning and there's still a few more to come .

Afternoon All
Gill it is an incredible story(well not story) but real life .How brave and determined your BIL and the other men were.It is amazing that they survived.I wonder if there was any counselling back then for Post Traumatic Stress.I have a feeling there probably wasn't.
Mandy that is great news about OH .Such a relief knowing there is nothing sinister going on.
Frank ,what is Ros like not more plants !!!!!!!!!.I can't believe she is still finding places to plant things. I planted my mixed Violas this morning in the window box outside the back door. They are such pretty little flowers.
It's been a funny old day with the weather.Sun ,cloud and showers.I hummed and hawed about whether to light the fire. The fire won in the end,but now I am boiling !!! I better not complain as Chris said I was mad to light it lol
Mel I hope you manage to sort that £40 bill out.Seems stange how it came to you on line but with someone elses name and address :-S :-S Good luck at he Dentist tomorrow.I have just rung my dentist and have a check up for next Wednesday.I am going to take my electric toothbrush with me and get him to show me how to use it properly.I seem to cause my gum to bleed at the top back each time.Maybe I am too harsh. My teeth do feel nice and clean though but I find it a messy business .I have to say I much prefer my normal brush .
Frank how are your fingers today?I hope you are keeping them well out of harms way :-)
I had a funny dream last night. We were back in our old house and had Thomas(or it might have been my old cat Solo).Anyway we had 2 cat flaps there. One in the outside door and then one into the kitchen..In the dream I had 5 other cats coming in and making themselves at home lol. They were EVERYWHERE taking over the house. Then I woke up to find Thomas at 5.20 miaowing at me bedside the bed.
I had a bit of a spurt on cleaning some of the inside windows upstairs earlier but lost interest and decided to do some of my colouring book.I'll do more windows tomorrow morning befor I go for my haircut in the afternoon.
So more knitted Hedgehogs on the go then Mandy :-D.You wait ,you might start getting more orders LOL
I am trying not to use the pooter too much today as my eyes have flared up (Blepharitis). They are so sore........Chris said I must have been peering through too many keyholes :-S I like the sound of your dinner tonight Mandy. We have 3 different meals here.James has a Curry,Chris on of his low cal meals and I will have Scrambled Eggs.I bought some nice fresh eggs this morning at the garden centre. Also I got a couple of cat toys for you know who.I couldn't believe all the Halloween things there.I don't think they have ever done so much for Halloween there before. They even have Terracota Pumpkins ,Witches etc.I think it is all too much really..(that is me sounding old and mardy lol )Yesterday I went up in the lift in our M&* and when the door opened it was BAMMMM Christmas :-| :-| :-|.....I can't be doing with that just yet.I wasn't even tempted to look at anything. Just going to stand outside and cool off a bit. It's boiling in here.

Frank I just saw your post from this morning about your plasters..I am still having to keep plaster on my thumb due to a nasty split nail.I have gone through so many plasters. The best ones I find to stay on longest are the fabric stretchy ones. But even with them I am still having to replace them a couple of times a day.Nothing stays on if they get wet :-S They just slip off :-S :-S All the waterproof ones are rubbish.
James has gone to see Johnny's Mum after work.It will be 1yr next Friday that Johnny committed suicide :-(...I can't believe it is a year already.

Gosh is it really a year since you told us about Johnny? It dos'nt seem that long ago.
Mamndy another hog to knit. Was lacey's the same colour as mine? She is still sitting on top of my pc box watching over me.
As to plasters I find the best ones are the cusioned ones. They are sort of waterproof and stretchy and I use those all the time if I need one.
Jane you saying about your nail splitting down the middle, well my thumb nail did that when I went shopping yesterday but not right down I managed to pull a layer off and file it so it was'nt catching on everything till I got home and oh cut it off for me. My nails are so hard I can't cut them on my right hand, even oh had a job to get the sissors to go through it.
I have collected quite a lot of little pressies for my little boys next door and have most of the things for Di but only a couple of silly little things for oh. Why aremen so hard to buy for?????? :-| :-| :-| :-| At least I have his birthday present for next month. Now I need to find a cotton toweling robe in his size for Christmas.

Evening All,
It seemed quite chilly here today, but I dusted and hoovered the hall, bedrooms, bathroom and study this morning. That was enough for one day and meant I didn't disturb OH doing his notes and phone calls in the lounge. I was certainly warm at the end of doing that! I forgot to say that I found more shoe boxes full of odds and sods yesterday including more bits of wiring rolled up and more SCISSORS! FIL had even kept the plastic corners they pack picture frames in to protect them and had also removed and kept the small flap bits he'd removed from the back of pictures, yet he had boxes and boxes of bits of wood. We've even found their old kitchen bins behind the shed and have unearthed 2 old sets of bath mats. There are old record players, music decks, as well as old video recorders and dvd players. He's kept them all. I'm shifting the biscuit tins tomorrow Frank.............would you like a couple of dozen more to go with yours? :-D I know we have a few in our garage, but you could stack these up to the ceiling ....twice and more! OH said today that he'd found another old, but newer cine camera yesterday so I'll see if we can note the make of it tomorrow and look it up. He is moving the upstairs furniture he dismantled downstairs tomorrow. We may go and look at the skip place as well and weigh up what size we need. Mind you OH has booked us in for a financial seminar tomorrow at the agricultural college. It's the free lunch that is the attraction I'm sure, but I wouldn't mind seeing inside the place. I always fancied going there to study something when I was at school.
A neighbour has contacted the authorities about asbestos he's seen lying on the garden the builder has bought. We've also heard there's been damage to a footpath at one of the new houses that were built on the field the other side of the garden by a digger. It looks like the builder's troubles aren't over! The other neighbour was speaking on the local radio last week about the situation.
I read the account too Gill and an experience like that would be bound to have affected your BIL. He is lucky to have survived.
David you can use those credits to view any documents you find and as Gill says, it will tell you what credits you will use before you click to access them or not.
Jane, your dream wasn't because you have been watching those animal hoarder progs that are on now is it? lol You wouldn't want a houseful of 'hunters' like Thomas!! :-0 I bet your Violas look lovely. I usually have them in the front wall pots this time of year but haven't got any yet. They smell lovely too. The last year since Johnny took his life has whizzed by hasn't it. It is really nice how James has kept in touch with his mum.
That was good news for your hubby Mandy and he can relax and not worry now. No matter how you try, it is on your mind till you get your results. That is lovely that your little knitted Hedgehog is in demand! :-) Yes, we commented yesterday that the last couple of times we've been to the dogs' home, there's been 2 people busy emptying the shed out where we put the stuff!! They have regular tabletop sales in the carpark so I expect there will be some of the things we've taken laid out for the next one of those. lol. OH keeps saying the dogs will have a good Christmas this year!
I've recorded the new series of the GP prog that started tonight, so when OH gets back from his meeting we'll watch it. I enjoyed the last series.

Mel ,I can't quite get my head around the fact it is now 12months since Johnny died.Goodness know how his Mum and Sister must be feeling .Horrible memories will be flooding back for them now :-( :-(
I tried filing my nail down ,but it has gone through the whole thickness of the nail :-S and half way down the thumb, which is why I have to keep it wrapped in a plaster .My thumb is all wrinkly now under the plaster :-S :-S
I have been calling Thomas in now for the last hour.He is nowhere to be seen :-|.He will no doubt come sauntering in when it takes his fancy.Hopefully in the next hour ,otherwise I shall be off to bed and he will be out for the night.
James had a bit of good news today. He has got £200 compensation from Easy Je* after James and Jess had a 3 hr delay on their flight back from Berlin.I thought it might have been in a Voucher ,but no it is in cash and will be in James 's bank account tomorrow :-) What a good job James put in the claim.
Just going to go and whistle for Thomas again

That's good news for your OH Mandy, I'm so pleased for you both, it must of been quite stressful waiting for the results, he can now relax without the worry. I'm sure everything will be ok when he goes back in six weeks time, with him taking his medication now.
Yes Sandra is hoping we get some snow this year so she can make her snowman. I think she'll be able to make a family of them if the forecast is right as we're suppose to be getting lots of the cold white stuff ;-) ;-)
How nice the teacher wants you to knit a Hedgehog to keep at the school. I'd love to see a picture of it when you're finished.
So there's still problems with the builder then Ann, by the sounds of it? Asbestos can be quite dangerous. If that's laying around, then the site might be shut down and he could face a very large fine, or even worse, especially if it gets broken. Your neighbour did the right thing reporting it.
Did you go anywhere nice today with Gordon? You said you weren't going to MIL's house today.
I can't believe it's nearly a year since Johnny passed away, it's gone really quickly. It's nice of James to keep in touch with Johnny's mum. He sounds a lovely man, you must be so proud of him. I heard you could claim compensation for delays in flights.....£200 is a lot of money, he was lucky to get it in cash wasn't he?
I had a look in my dream book about cats Jane but it only mentioned one not a lot of them. Were the cats clean or dirty as there are two different meanings. It didn't say anything about cat flaps I'm afraid and the only mention of kitchens was whether there was cooking involved or not. What colour were the cats, if there was a black one that's meant to mean 'Good Luck' in Britain.
I'm off to a garden centre in the morning on route to my MIL's, so it looks like I'm going to be busy in the garden soon if I manage to find anything pretty to plant. Talking of gardens, how is Ros getting on with yours Frank, what plants did she buy the other day? Sorry to hear you lost yet another post, better luck next time. How is your finger now?
It sounds like you've been busy buying lots of pressies for Christmas and birthdays Mel. We're taking MIL's birthday present round to hers tomorrow, it's her birthday in a few days but OH has to work. He doesn't get a chance to visit her very often with us living quite a distance from her and the long hours he works, so it'll be nice to catch up with her.
OH is falling asleep so I'm signing out now. See you all tomorrow Night Night

Good morning folks, evening Kim,
Dark horrible morning here, we have already had a shower of rain. Lights on in the lounge and still you have a job to see the other end.
Mandy I was saying yesterday, those hogs might get in demand from other children, then you will be BUSY making them for all the class ;-) ;-)
Back of finger still splitting open and weeping, there's not much you can do about it. I have thought of a splint to keep my finger straight. ;-) ;-) Then I would have the finger up to everyone :-D :-D :-D
Ros bought a hidranga (sp) to go in where she took out one of the grass's. I ask you, and she is trying to make the border smaller. That's her all over. She's also bought more viola's and pansies for the planters.
We had a Pork hock, with mushy peas and mash last night. The hock could have done with a bit longer cooking, it was a bit chewy.
It's no wonder your BIL came back in a state Gill. and to loose his marriage as well must have put the cap on it !!!
Jane I had a dream about a puppy last night. It was owned by a neighbour, but spent a lot of time with me. When I went to take it back, they had moved, so I had to keep it !!!
It doesn't seem that long since Johnny passed away. James has been very good keeping in touch with his family.
My friends operation went off O.K. He is in ICU for a couple of days, and then into a ward for about 8 days. Then hopefully they will send him home. He could be eating solids by Christmas.
Ann, Have you thought of building a decorative feature with all those biscuits tins, ?? they would certainly look different .
:-D :-D :-D This is where I lost the post yesterday, trying to backspace the "BIG SMILE" to put it behind the sentence. I will leave well alone. ;-) ;-) ;-)
I'm all fed and watered, and showered. Just got to shave. Then Ros will take over the bathroom, before going to Morriso#s for some offers.
See you later.

Morning All
Yucky morning here ,but I think it has stopped raining now. I had a right scare this morning.I was reading my kindle in bed and suddenly the sight in my right I started to go odd with flashy zigzaggy lines .It started off small but then seemed to become more.Have to say it got me worried. So I rang the Opticians the minute they opened, and it seems it was likely a Migraine !!!!.But I had no headache or any pain. How strange. Chris says that that can happen. If I get it again I was told to see the Dr. So I think I am going to have some time away from the laptop until later today and not do any reading just in case I aggrevate it. I will BB after I get back from the hairdresser this afternoon.
Gill they were all Black or Black and White cats and nice and clean :-D

In for a treat tonight. Ros is making one of her famous "boiled onion rolls" Suet pastry, rolled out and filled with chopped up beef, onion, carrot and potato's. sprinkles with Bist# and oxo, Rolled up in greaseproof paper then in a clean tea towel and boiled for about 4 hours. Another day without cooking. Who's a lucky boy !!!
Jane why don't you open a home for stray cats ?? you have started with Thomas, so a few more won't matter :-D :-D :-D
Sky has cleared a bit here also, but not the sort of day you want to do anything outside. So I will curl up in my chair with my book, this afternoon I will see what's on NAT GEO or EDEN for an hour or so. I never get bored watching those programmes. It must be lovely to travel and see all the things that these films depict. DREAM DREAM DREAM !!!!

Back and had lunch but I have the washing up to do now. We went into L*dl after the dentist and I saw Di in there. Had a natter when we both came out so it made us a bit late.
Dentist said I don't have to have the six remaining teeth out all together and I can hang on to them as long as I like but I am having thr three front ones out on 8 Dec and going back two days later for my bottom plate so I shan't be answering the door or going anywhere for those two days without any front teeth. :-D :-D :-D :-D :-D :-D :-D :-( :-( :-( :-( :-( :-( :-( :-| :-| :-| :-| :-| :-| :-0 :-0 :-0 :-0 :-0 :-0 :-0
I am now going round to the chickens to see if I have an egg today. I had one the day before yesterday so I should have one today. There are two hens in lay with nice red cones and four with wishy washy pink cones and I don't mean the kind of cones you get icecream in!!!!!!!!!

Afternoon All,
Jane as soon as you described what happened with your eyes I thought ' Migraine' as that is exactly what happens with OH!! He never gets a headache either, just mostly visual disturbances and once had double vision which was scary and I took him to the emergency eye clinic that time. He also gets tingling and numbness or a sudden loss of balance with a pain in his head at times. He can't read with the zigzagging lights, so usually lies down till it passes. He's usually ok again after about an hour and takes Migraleve for his.
More muck and dust this morning! I'm beginning to feel like a tramp in my dirtier and dirtier old clothes every day. :-S OH has lugged the rest of the power tools that were upstairs downstairs to bring home today, also the other cine projector which is a Bell and Howell one but I don't know which model it is yet. We needed to clear more space downstairs before we start bringing the dismantled furniture downstairs, so OH started taking down all the shelves that are in every room including the hall and landing. I found 2 more music centres upstairs today so with their current ones and dvd players I think that is 9 up to now. :-S We might take those to one of the secondhand electrical shops and see if they will give us a few bob for them. The problem is knowing whether they all work properly as FIL would keep them, working or not. :-S I think we need a couple more trips to remove gardening stuff and the mower and other bits and bobs, a couple more trips to the tip with stuff that can't go in the skip, then everything left will be skippable!!! I think we need 1 trip just to get all the stuff downstairs as the boxroom alone has about 30 sizeable offcuts of plywood, worktop etc and there's a lot more in the back bedroom.
Frank I told OH we could make miniature versions of those animals you see at garden centres made out of old tin barrels but with the biscuit tins! :-) lol. He hates them! Would a waterproof finger stall you can get from the chemist help keep the plaster dry? Best wishes to your friend and it's good his operation went ok.
I must record for the love of dogs tonight so I don't miss it! I watched the 3 Alan Titchmarsh progs about completing the Capability Brown gardens at Belvoir Castle at Melton Mowbray in the early hours this morning as I couldn't sleep. How fantastic and Alan was so moved as well. I must go and see the garden now they have done it as Melton Mowbray is quite near to us.
I hope you found some pretty plants at the garden centre Gill. I'd forgotten how much Sandra wanted to build a snowman last year, so she might be lucky this winter. No, we were too tired to go anywhere yesterday and just caught up with things at home a bit.
It isn't nice here anymore Mel, steady rainfall now. I hope your trip to the dentist wasn't too bad. The best bit is when you walk out!

Frank put some vaseline on that finger and each time you wash your hands do it again. It clears my split and weeping fingers in two day max.
So glad your friends op went off ok.
Still lovely and sunny here but a bit chilly just the same.
Had another egg today so thats good. Think we will have pork egg and chips tonight because thats nice and quick.

It has been raining almost all day here .Not heavy but just the light stuff. It's miserable.Thomas has been about all day and is now fast asleep on the settee. He doesn't like the wet.I had a good play with him just now and he was going crazy lol
Ann,my eye is still feeling a bit blurry, but that might just be that start of that cataract.I have to admit I was in tears this morning as i thought I was loosing my sight. It was very scary.I had no pain or tingling/numbness.I thin kthe flashy zigzag things lasted about half an hour.At least now if it happens again I will know what it is.I have never experienced anything like that before.Does your OH get this often ?
Oh you will be so relieved when you can order the skip and dump what ever is left. You seem to have been clearing that house forever !!!!..Bet it feels like it too.
Oh Mel ,I hope your teeth will all be done and dusted in time for Christmas. You don't want a sore mouth when you need to enjoy Xmas Dinner. My hairdresser was telling me just now that he bought his wife 4 Hens for their 25th Anniversary. She loves them :-D.He bought one of those Igloo Hen houses and Run for them.
Frank maybe a finger stall like Ann suggested is a good idea for your finger. At least that way the plaster will stay dry and stuck.I bet your house is smelling good now with the dinner in cooking for so long.I haven't had Suet Pudding for years. I have a couple of foil trays of Potatoes with Chorizo Red Peppers and Red Onions and have cut some Chicken Breasts into big chunks which I will add so it can all cook together. Then I'll do Asparagus and Broccoli .
I hope your friend will soon be on the 'normal' ward and continues to get well.Did he have Cancer of the Oesophagus? My friend's husband had that about 15/16 years ago and has made a full recovery.
Gill ,have you found lots of nice things at the garden Centre.I bet you have :-D Hope you enjoyed your visit too to your MIL for her birthday. Wouldn't it be great for Sandra this year to be able to make her Snowman and maybe a whole family of Snow people :-D :-D Some years ago when we had a lot of snow Mel and I made Snowmen :-D..Well I say me but it was Hannah who made ours really.I just stuck the carrot for the nose and the coal for the eyes on lol.I don't know if Mel still has the pics.I don't think I have mine any longer but will have a look.
I have a sign on the pooter to say I need to update something so will do that now. BBL
