Evening all,
It's been a dreary day here and you could just feel a slight drizzle in the air , there's been quite a wind today too.
Well we went and had our check up this morning with the new dentist, our last dentist was a nice Spanish girl but she has now moved on ,we had only just sat down and we were nice and early when we were called through ,we both had our check ups which were all fine we didn't need any thing done so we go again in six months ,we came out before we should have gone in !! so we wondered if some one hadn't turned up for their appointment .
You had a busy and long day yesterday Gill i bet Sandra is over the moon with the pink CD player :-D is she using it now ? or has she got to wait until Christmas ? I carn't believe people have christmas lights up already :-0 :-D I'll send the photo of the Hog ,i finished him off this afternoon .
Oh Mel not scales from your fish ? were else would they have come from ?
What a price for a bin Jane !! and it's only for rubbish :-D So Hannah and the girls have a busy time ahead getting ready for the move , it does seem the fairest way to see who has the bedroom with the balcony they don't want to have any arguments and upset over a room do they.
So it would have been Davids fathers birthday not David's !! i seem to remember we did that once before, we all wished David happy birthday and we were too early.
I keep meaning to ask if anyone has heard anything from Kim or seen any thing on FB since the bad flood they had over there ?

Thank you Jane, you're kind.
I am the son of Ella Irvine nee Atkinson b1929 d1994
Was the daughter of Thomas Atkinson b1880 d1958
Was the son of John Atkinson
Was the son of Joseph Atkinson
I had the dates for John, but past them to my Brother
I never had the dates for Joseph, but I know Joseph to be the Father of John,
and John is Thomas' Father, I saw Thomas' wedding certificate (which I gave away, along with other documents)
And I know Thomas was my Mother's father, seen the certificates.
Is there a kind soul on here could give me John and Joseph's dates?
If there is I'm grateful in advance
:-)

Mandy it is one of those Brabant* stainless steel bins with a touch top. There were bigger ones there for over £100 !!!!!! :-S.This one fits just right in between the fridge freezer and welsh dresser. You can lift out the inside container with the bag in so the bin itself hardly ever needs washing out.Just the lid needs cleaning now and again when people have been a bit messy when scraping off plates.
Mel the Chocs I bought were actually not the tin.I was going to get a tin of Rose* but in the end got 3 bags of different chocs. One Quality Str***,one Heroes and another that I can't remember now.So we will have a good mix :-D
David I think Mel,or Ann or Mandy might like to get their teeth into your request for help there :-D
Mandy I think Kim is still having work done on her house after the terrible weather. It did sound horrendous there.I know the ceiling in one of her rooms looked like it was coming down and lots of damage to the roof.Poor Kim having to go through all this <3

Evening All,
How awful losing your goldfish to the Heron Mel and I expect some may have been the babies you raised. Do you have many of them left now? It's why we never put fish in our pond after seeing a Heron on the fence.....they are very strong and determined birds and we see them quite often round here!!
Gill I have been to the outlet village at Ellesmere Port a few times when OH has dropped me off before going to a footie match. The first time I didn't see all of it, it goes on and on doesn't it and I found more of it on my second visit! It's great you had a good day's shopping and that you found a pink CD player for Sandra. No wonder she was thrilled.
Jane that was an expensive bin as you say, but better to get a good one that you like and will last. I have quite a titchy narrow black plastic one so we can walk by it easily and I remember thinking that was dear for the size it was at over £20! I might get one with a liner bucket like yours next as we won't be getting a regular supply of supermarket bags to use in it now and they kept it nice and clean!!! :-S
Today I collected a nice cream fleecy bed throw I ordered for the bottom of the bed to replace the nice satin quilted one that slips off!! lol. I only use one when it's really frosty, but it's no good when it spends most time on the floor!! :-S I'd seen some nice fringed wool ones I liked, but they weigh a ton, so this should fit the bill nicely. :-) After queuing for over quarter of an hour to collect it while the assistant kept ringing a bell for help on the tills, when I got there I was told to go upstairs to Customer Services to collect it!! So it was upstairs to join another queue and wait. OH was not impressed as they had signs up at both desks to say you could order there, but none to say collection was only at the Customer Service desk. :-S It's a good job we had enough parking time left on our car.
We've decided to look at some skips nearer home in the morning, but we think a medium one will do for the stuff that won't go in the car and won't be too big to fit on the paved front garden. We could always get a smaller second one later if needs be. OH thinks he may be coming down with a cold though and has gone to bed early, so we may leave booking one for a few days. We are seeing the estate agent Monday so couldn't have one till Tuesday anyway and most firms will deliver the same day you ring. It will be so good to be moving the rubbish out instead of just moving it about. We picked up and dropped off a bootful of their newspapers at the tip today after filling their recycling bin again. I made OH chuckle today after I'd been reading about some research study that suggested Alzheimers may be able to be reversed in the future. I said it would look well if his dad was able to go home again and wanted to know what we'd done with all his stuff!!!!

Morning all
Another dull day here today, I think the best of the weather is definitely behind us now :-( :-(
Pleased to hear you are almost there with the house Ann. I had a bit of a chuckle at the comment you made about your FIL. Yes the Outlet Village is massive, it's gone even bigger since the last time we were there too and the old nightclub has gone and is now tenpin bowling. When we went into the Port (Ellesmere Port) we noticed the EPIC, a leisure centre, had shut down and they are building a new one near the Outlet Village now. Sandra used to go to a swimming club for special needs adults at the EPIC, so it was sad to see it all boarded up. Also there seems to be blocks of flats popping up all over the place. I remember when I lived there as a little girl, there were so many fields, but sadly they have all gone now. We left the Port 10 years ago.....how time flies.
Pleased to see Mel has found the information you needed David, you can fill in all the dates on your tree now.
Thanks for the photo Mandy, how realistic the hog looked, they are going to love it at the school. You'll probably get lots of orders for more now off all the mum's.
I've been in touch with a 2nd cousin for the last few days and have been busy doing some of my tree. Good job I've been in touch with her as this side of my tree is pretty confusing to say the least. I would never have been able to do it on my own.
I had made a mistake, but with her help it's now been corrected. I have a sister for her dad that she new nothing about and it looks like there are two nieces she hasn't heard of as well. Her dad's sister was never mentioned for some reason and had passed away at the age of 18. I thought it might of upset her after she told me she'd never heard of her, but she said she wasn't upset, more surprised. She going to ask her mum's twin about her, as her mum has Alzheimer's.
She told me that a member of my family had been adopted out, so I've asked her about this and I'm now waiting to hear back from her. It took me ages to sort out my tree last night but I'm getting there now, thanks to the help off my 2nd cousin.
Off to get a cuppa now, then I'm going to watch the last 2 parts of Alan Titchmarch I recorded ages ago, to do with Capability Brown. The first one was very interesting, so I'm hoping the other two will be just as good. BBL

Morning all, Evening Kim,
Another dreary morning here. I spoke to John (his birthday) in Hastings this morning and he said the weather was fair with some blue sky.
Update on my friend. He is on the ward and able to have a conversation with his wife. With a bit of luck they might send him home on Monday. That will be nice for the family, with no travelling up and down to London.
I bet I wouldn't know Ellesmere Port. I was there in 1965 at the Calor Gas plant, with view to taking over as Manager. But didn't think the Family would settle there, so didn't take up the offer. I stayed in a Country Hotel outside Chester. The name of which I can't remember.
Ros has gone to pick Valerie up for the Sewing/patchwork thingy. She has taken sandwiches so looks like staying a while.
There will be no Prawn salad for me today, as she won't be going to Morriso#s. So I will get myself a late breakfast/brunch before I go to watch the match. That will see me through till tonight.
Ann that's a long way for OH to go for a match isn't it ??? It's got to be three hours from you. !!! When I was travelling to E.P. my wife was in Hullbridge Essex, with the children and it took me best part of six hours. NO M 6 in those days :-D :-D :-D I would travel up on Monday and back home Friday. in a little 1200 cc Ford Cortina.
I had another bad night last night. Was in bed by 11.00 pm Still wide awake at 1.00 am when Madam came in, and I laid Clock watching till after three. and was awake again by 6.30 am Got up and made tea. I might well have a kip this afternoon listening to the football on the radio at 3.00 pm. And so the circle goes round. !!!
Glad Mel (as usual) was able to help David. When I got stuck (many times) she and Ann always came up trumps with information. (THEY HAVE THEIR USES)
:-D :-D :-D :-D I don't know what we would do without them <3 <3 <3 <3
Shower and shave time, then FOOD.!!!

Morning all and evening Kim,
Grey day again today but at least it's not raining. Have to go to the shop for my paper and then do a bit of ironing. Thats the trouble when it dos'nt rain, you do all the washing ten you have all the ironing. I have to iron most of it as I can't get it in the cupboards and drawers otherwise.
Whats everyone else up to today?
I hope David fills in the years of birth for some of his relatives as they are all showing up as hidden and it dos'nt help if you are trying to trace an awkward family to find on census.

Hello again everyone
We arrived back yesterday pm. It was a good journey as we avoided the M25 & A21 as they both had bad holdups, we came back via the satnav instructions which took us past Brighton avoiding Horsham and Guildford, no holdups at all and the journey took two & a half hours.
We took Mark my eldest son who has Aspergers out for the day on his birthday and also met up with him the following day, he seems to like living in Hastings the town of his birth although we left there when he was two and his 2 younger brothers were both born at home in Bracknell where we are now, its a long story how he came back to living there and I still feel sad about it.
I'm glad to see they are rebuilding the pier, I met my husband at a dance there in 1957, he had just finished his National Service where he served in Germany most of the time.
I haven't read any ones posting yet but hope you have all been well,, this week has gone so quickly
Well its back to reality now with a pile of ironing to do :-|

Well, what a lovely programme Alan Titchmarch on Capability Brown was. Very interesting and quite emotional in parts. I wonder if one of Alan ancestors worked for Brown, there was a mention of the possibility. Alan would be so chuffed if that was the case.
Yes E P has changed an awful lot in just the last 10 years since we've left, so I doubt you'd recognise it at all now Frank. Glad to hear your friend is now on the ward and will be going home soon. Sorry to hear you had another bad nights sleep, hope you have a better one tonight.
Going to make a start on all these Christmas films Sandra had me record. Even though she's starting to think about Christmas now, she'll still be just as excited when the day is finally here.....She can't get enough of it bless her <3 See you all later

Capability Brown did the landscape behind us on the estate of the big house we live in the veg garden to. The man who has it now complained when a chap who lived in the wood opposit the big house built himself a house in the wood because they could see it in the winter from the big house. He said he had spoilt a Capability Brown landscape. THEN the chap who owns the big house planted tree all over the back of the big house on the Capability Brown landscape destroying it completely. What are some people like????????? WE used to have a lovely view up the back field to some very old pine trees but you can hardly see the tops of them now for all the trees he planted on a wonderful landscape of 80 aches.

How awful Mel, Capability Brown was a genius in the way he did things and now it sounds like it's been spoilt.....What a shame and you've lost your view too :-(
We've just finished watching the first film, quite a weepy one and now Sandra's ready for the next one, which also looks like a weepy one.......I'm going to run out of tissues soon. I'll have to see if there are any more cheerful ones, once we've watched this one :-)

Mel do you think he planted the trees for privacy so he couldn't see the house that was built.Like you say what a shame to spoil the landscape .A bit of History with Capability Brown having designed it.
Crumbs Anne that week went by quickly !!! Does your son mark live on his own in Hastings or is he with other adults with similar conditions as Aspergers ? I bet the cats are pleased to see you back home again :-D
Frank I feel a few 40 winks for you this afternoon is on the cards.I actually had a really good nights sleep last night but feel bone tired today :-S.I don't feel like doing much at all.I have lit the Woodburner and am watching the programme about Servants now.It is dark and dismal outside.Chris is just finishing off a bit of gardening but I think he will be in soon.
Gill how do you manage to find ao many Christmas films !!!! Does Sandra like the Home Alone one where the boy was left behind at Xmas?I thought it was hilarious when it first came out. There was another Home Alone ,but I can't think what that one was about.
I must get back on to Ancestr* again. It has been ages and I have just renewed for another year .I think the winter months are good for doing things like that.
