I too had a few nips from my Parents bottles and added water LOL...They weren't daft and I'm sure knew exactly what I had done....I am pretty sure that my 2 have done the same here when they were younger. Harry would I know the name of your Daughters Mobile Van.I might well have seen it :-D(don't put the name of it on here as it will be classed as advertising.) But you might like to send me a P M. My OH makes Bread.but in the Bread Maker. He did make some bread by hand last year but it was a disaster so he is sticking with the machine now. I don't know anyone who makes their own sausages !! If you have any recipes you would like to share please put them up :-D All my recipes are from books or magazines.I am not savvy enough to make up my own .I think I have become more adventurous with cooking though in the last few years.Cooking was never my favourite thing.I think since Chris has retired I have done far more. There used to be lots of ready meals when he was working and never knowing what time he was going to be home.

Jane my girl cat Shadow completely freaks out if I pick her up but she will get on my lap but if I move a couple of inches she's off, her brother Toby doesn't mind but Timmy the ex stray just adores being cuddled and is the most affectionate
I agree with you about humanist funerals I had only been to one before an ex work colleague who died in her forties. I don't see the point in having a vicar or priest when you don't attend church, everyone at Peter's funeral said how well it went and I will have the same when my time comes. My brother gave the eulogy as he had known Peter's family not through me but Ronald the youngest brother started Grammar school at the age of 11 the same time as him. Sadly Ronald died at the age of 28 with bowel cancer he left a wife and 3 very young children, April the youngest was born just after he died also he died on Peter's birthday.
Peter's family were catholic and he was educated by Nuns who were terrifying and very quick to use the cane. We did get married in a Catholic Church and our son's were all baptised Catholic because it was expected then .My ex boss who was from Gibralter was educated by the Christian brothers who were truly evil to their pupils.

Evening All,
Sorry to hear about your brother Frank. I hope he can be treated. My first MIL had stomach cancer too. He was very unkind to you after your stroke wasn't he, but maybe he had regrets after like someone else said. I too had a mother who always tried to set her children against each other. She would praise the other to each of us in glowing terms of what the other had done for her. It was probably why she hated us to meet without her there....in case we discovered what she did, which is what happened eventually! My first OH said me and my sister were like puppets with her pulling the strings to get what she wanted, my present OH, who is a very generous spirited person, said she was the most divisive person he had ever met!!
OH told me last night that he'd heard one of the chaps he knew well at his old footie club has throat cancer. He's only aged 40 as well, but the neighbour who often helped MIL has got her results now and doesn't have bone cancer so that was a relief for her.
David, I think you were just unlucky how you landed after that fall. The important thing is you are still here and able to chat to us. :-) It sounds very much like there was a coverup at the hospital doesn't it and, worryingly, does make you wonder how often that happens.
Well, we met the clearance man at the house as agreed, were happy with what he was going to charge, so he started straightaway!!!!! He had his own huge van and rang a friend with a truck to help as well. We cleared off and left them to it and were amazed when he rang at 4.00pm to say it was finished and that they'd worked like trojans to get it done!!!! He'd taken and sold all the white goods we were going to leave in the house and tvs etc and deducted amounts off his charges. He reckoned the truck alone had taken 3 full loads to the tip so we would have needed at least 3 skips to do it ourselves as we thought. We then went across to the house later to check everything was ok and they'd done a great job, even hoovered up and cleared a lot of stuff lying around outside too. The house looks so much better, lighter, brighter and bigger than it has ever done! We got him to call at home to pay him tonight and he gave me a smacker on the cheek! He works all hours, usually starts at 6.00am, often works sundays and does property development in his spare time and owns quite a few houses. He told me his wife doesn't work and he sends her off on holiday abroad a lot as he loves working. Sounds like a good arrangement! What a weight it is off our minds now it's ready to sell.
FIL is fine and back at the home now, but they are asking for slippers for him yet we took him some a fortnight ago with a lot more clothes, so they are going to have a look for them. I've told OH to check what clothes are in his bedroom when he visits him as we are beginning to wonder where they all are. :-S
I haven't made bread since the miners' strikes in the 70s Harry, when there were shortages of things. I must admit my attempts turned out a bit 'heavy' as I tried to make wholemeal bread. Then a colleague at work got his wife to bake some for me so I didn't do anymore. I've never made sausages though, never fancied putting them in the sheep's intestines! Now I rarely eat them, but OH likes them.

O that must be a huge eight off your minds Ann. Sounds like he did a really good job too which can make a change in this day and age when there are so many cowboys out there.
I meant to ask earlier how FIL was and if he was still in hospital.
Wonder what Gill has been up to today as we hav'nt heard from her today. <3
Well I still have this pain and its getting me down now as it dos'nt hurt till I try to stand up then it give me what for. After standing for a little while I can walk ok. I wonder what it is?? :-(

Frank I hope your brother can be cured or his problem made easier to bear..
I do hope Mel's problem resolves itself soon. Prolonged constipation can cause pain down there., I hope it gets better soon.
Thank you Ann, it's good to be back on this forum.
Just a thought, though, as a result of a failure to instigate litigation the NHS will regard me with suspicion from here on, could even think I'm demented TRAGEDY :-(

Morning all
It's quite stormy here today, glad I'm not going out in it.
OH took me out yesterday to buy a dress for a ruby wedding anniversary we're going to next week, I also got some new shoes too.....Well, you can't buy one without the other can you ladies??? :-D :-D :-D
Sorry to hear about your brother Frank, hope things turn out okay for him. He wasn't very nice to you though, when you had your stoke :-(
I'm so pleased for you and Gordon Ann, now the house is finally finished, what a relief it must be for you. I was starting to worry about you both. The fella who helped sounds great, I bet he's not short of work with such a good reputation. At least you don't have to worry about skips now. Glad to hear your FIL is okay after his fall.
How is your pain today Mel? If it's constipation have your tried Sen*kot it's a natural laxative, you just take two at night and by the morning things should start moving, so to speak. Hope you're feeling better soon.
Oh David what a horrible accident and then to make matters worse the hospital look like they're trying to hide their mistakes too.
You've just reminded me Harry I was given a bread maker the other week, it needs cleaning as it's dusty so I popped in the garage, then forgot all about it. I've never used one before as I've always made my bread by hand, but I believe they are really good, so I thought I'd try it. Unfortunately there is no instructions with it and because I've never used one before I'm hoping I might be able to find the instructions online. Shall have to get it out of the garage to see what make and model it is first though. I made sausages when I was training in catering, but that was a very long time ago and I haven't made them since.
So we both have Allen's on our tree Anne? It's a small world. Mind you it's a popular name so probably pops up in quite a few trees on here. Do you have problems researching yours......mine are a nightmare, but I'm getting there little by little. Wouldn't it be funny if we ended up related to each other???
Enjoy your lunch with Fitzy today Jane, if you have weather like me I doubt you'll be eating outside though. LOL
Well, I've just heard my washing machine finish so I'd better go and sort it out BBL

Morning all, Evening Kim,
I hope I don't miss anyone out, with all that's been going on.
Yes Harry, I worked in Leadenhall Street as a young man, and would spend lunchtimes down Wentworth Street (Pedicote Lane on Sundays) That chap with the China was there every day. He would shuffle large dinner plates like a pack of cards. In fact I bough an 18ct gold tea set from him for my mums Christmas present one year. You seem to keep busy with Re-vamping your daughters Mobile eatery !!!
David I remember so well your "ACCIDENT" Hoe many years ago was that.
Not more boozing at lunchtime Jane. You should come over here we have bright sunshine. :-P :-P :-P BEHAVE YOURSELF !!!
Hope you are feeling a little better today Mel, nothing worse than feeling down.
Gill, I am sure when you get the bread maker out, you will be able to contact the manufactures and obtain an instruction book and recipes . I have one, but hardly every use it.
The Brother Saga goes on and on.
My nephew never rang me, so when I got in from Football. I rang him. His phone was answered and all I could hear was a conversation between several people, I seemed to recognise my SILs voice. So evidently they/he did wish to speak to me. Plus the fact my phone Number would have appeared on his phone, so he would have know I was calling, I also had calls from Bills wife Fran and another Nephew John. What a family I have. My sister Mary's husband passed away 5 months ago and no one bothered to let me know, likewise other members of the family circle and old friends who I knew so well when I lived in Woodford Bridge. The only time I find anything out is when I ring them !!!
I also telephoned my niece in Scotland. She knew nothing about my brother. In conversation it turns out she has been very ill for a few months with BREAST CANCER. and still nobody bothered to tell GOOD OLD FRANK.
Sorry folks for going on a bit, but I feel that anything that goes on I am the last to know. Considering there are only three of us left out of TEN. We could be more informed on health problems and deaths in the family.
So it looks like FRANK AGAINST THE REST.!!!! Thank Gawd I have you friends.

I'm fine Mel and Jane and Jane and thank you for your concern. We've had some family ups and downs the last few weeks which have been a bit traumatic, but after having a lovely weekend staying with our Son and his Partner, we feel much more rested, and hopefully everything will pull together soon. On a brighter note we hope to go up Lincolnshire at some stage to have a look at the last remaining Lancaster. Apparently you can go over it and get the picture of what it must have been like to fly in one. We both really want to do that so although it's a long way it'll be worth the effort. Sorry to hear about all the illnesses, and hope that things work out for the best all round. How are you getting on with you toothbrush Jane?!!! We've been using them for years, and I think it is worth it. OH has bought a ride on mower, not before time!! It's certainly going to make life easier keeping the paddock up together. Our little dog is a joy, and was such a good girl last weekend, almost certainly she'll.be asked again!!!

You still have us lot Frank......We luv ya :-D :-D :-D :-D
Glad to hear your back's a bit better today Mel.
The sun has come out here Jane but it's still blowing a gale, hope you have a nice lunch with a couple or three glass's of wine. LOL
My dress is red, but not an orangey red, that would be to bright for me, it's more of a burgundy red with subtle red flecks of glitter that only really show when the light catches it, rather than all showy like a Christmas tree LOL
I ended up getting black shoes in the end as there didn't seem to be any the right colour for the dress, so I thought black with a black bag and jacket. I'll get someone to take a photo then you an see what I mean. I'm just altering the hem as it was a bit to long, but the party isn't until a week on Saturday so plenty of time to alter it. The only problem is it's a lacy type of fabric so not the easiest thing to unpick and take up. It took me over an hour to unpick just a few inches of it, so it'll take me a while to finish it off completely.
I recorded all 3 of back to the future films yesterday plus the Keith lemon bit about it, so Sandra and I are sitting watching them all now, in between the pile of washing I've got to do as well. So another busy day for me, what with the TV, washing and sewing ;-) ;-) I'm hoping to go out on Saturday to see if I can find the plants I wanted, but it's forecast to rain, so I'll have to wait and see how bad it is first.
Well, better get back to the films See you all later.

Oh dear Frank I am sorry your family don't keep in touch as they say you can choose your friends but not your relations, If that were the case I would have swopped my mother :-( :-(
Gill your dress sounds so pretty and the right colour for a Ruby wedding will Sandra be going too? My Allens only go back to the 1700's I have a cd rom of Sussex marriages which has helped to identify the female surnames as often you only have Christian name for the females. It starts at the mid 1500,s and ends in the 1840's when official records began. I have several Kent ones but on these you have births & deaths too. So I can help anyone from these areas.
I hope you enjoy your lunch with Fitz Jane he sounds good company.
I had my online grocery shopping delivered today and had to sort my freezer out to make room, Amy has had her walk as no rain today. I also pulled some pond weed out of the top pond and leaves from the bottom one but there's still plenty left on the trees
I'm pleased your back is feeling better Mel, have you tried those tiny electric pads they are like a miini fleece electric blankets and you can control the heat setting

Ros was out this morning having here nails done. I phoned here and had to leave a message as she was still having them done !!
I told her to bring something in for dinner tonight, as I don't feel like cooking today. She has bought a small cooked Chicken various Mediterranean roasting vegetables in a tray, Potato wedges and garlic mushrooms. That should go down well.
Glad to hear you had a nice weekend Liz. Did you go out eating ?? I bet you are looking forward to the Lincolnshire visit. When are you doing that ?? You also might be able to take in the Bomber Command Memorial. I am not sure where it is, but must be close enough for you to visit. Give Cassie a hug from me xxx. I take those beefy chew sticks to the pub with me every time I go and give the local dogs a treat. They are always pleased to see me !!!
Anne my Father was quite a placid man until he was roused, where as my Mother was like a Firework, would go off at the slightest thing. I can't even try to remember how many times you would get a belt across the head for things that today a mum would say "don't do that again" I like to put it down to her having FIVE children in SEVEN years (two sets of twins) and having to bring us up throughout the war mainly on her own.
I often say to Ros. I will order the shopping on line. But she likes to have a look round. The only trouble with that is she spends far too much on things we don't really need. :-D :-D :-D
I haven't looked on my family tree for ages. I keep promising myself that I will set aside a few hours, but never seem to have the time.
Lots of cloud here now, with just a glimpse of blue sky now and then.
Our friend John who had a knee replacement Monday evening, was sent home last night. Carolyn said he is a bit sore, but apart from that is fine. So I must start giving serious thought to having mine done. I know Ros will be giving me ear ache from here on in. John will get his penny's worth in as well. :-D :-D :-D I wonder is they can replace my body as well ;-) ;-) ;-)

No Anne I hav'nt ever seen those but we don't have anything plugged in like an electric blanket as oh being an ex fireman won't have anything like that so I stick to the old fashioned hot water bottle or the bean bag one I put in the microwave. He has been to so many fires for electric blankets he would'nt give one house room!!
The sun put in an appearance for about five seconds and has now disappeared again.
I wonder if Jane's lunch is still lingering on?????????/Bet they enjoyed a good old chin wag as usual when the wine flows.
Good to see your ok Liz and hope the disruption soon sorts itself out. Glad you enjoyed your stay at your sons and Cassie behaved.

Meant to say I just picked my car up. It cost me £104 for the two new tyres to be fitted, the wheel rims to be cleaned of a bit of rust and resealed and antifreeze added and I gave him a fiver for the two bulbs he had put in for me. Not bad that I thought.

We hope to go away in November Frank and take in the memorial too. It's something we both are very keen to do. We only had lunch out on the Sunday as Sons Partner is an excellent cook having been in the hospitality business in London with her ex.husband They owned and ran a restaurant in the West End catering for the rich and famous, so as you can imagine the food was excellent and their generosity second to none. I think you're right about your mother Frank, all those children in wartime with no modern amenities must have been very daunting to say the least, I don't think I could have coped, and this could well have explained her attitude. I'm afraid we always use an electric blanket! Have done for years! but we always have it checked once a year by an appropriate outfit.
