Anyone going to watch The last Kingdom the new series on tonight on BBC 2?

Next week there is a second series of the Detectorist 2 on BBC 4. I watched the first series and througherly enjoyed it as it was quite funny. The actors play their parts so well. If any of you could watch the first series I am sure you would enjoy it.

Frank my dad was very placid as well he was only just 21 when I was born and a lovely dad he died suddenly of a heart attack in 1988 and I still miss him. We were never smacked as children my mother had a visious tongue and we were punished by being sent to our rooms. Peter's mum was very quick tempered and I remember him telling me once when one of his brothers knocked his cup of tea over she completely lost it and went round the table saying lets all do that and tipped everyone's cup over. She had 6 children, during the war his Dad was in the RAF and stationed at Dover so was able to get home on leave so 2 of his brothers were born at this time.

Mel the heat pads come from Boots but were never left unattended when I had a bad back I use to take it into the office with me, so had it PAT tested

I have my shopping delivered because I don't drive and although the supermarket is very close the amount of animal food I buy would make it a lot more than one trip.

Richard has just rang to say he is going to be late for the evening meal about 6,30 as he is going to the Theatre this evening and the play starts at 7.30 its all going to be a rush but again it's quite near to here but he has to shower as well.

I now have to go and change my top......Chris bought what he thought was a Pillow Mist spray and gave me a squirt......It is a blooming BODY OIL Spray so I now have a big stain right on the front of my top :-S :-S..Must go and put it in to soak now.

I'm like Jane, I had fab parents. We were talking about them at the w/end and our son was saying that he couldn't have asked for better grandparents. We lived about 5 miles from them, so they were very much part of our lives, and they were such happy days, with walks, Pooh sticks, swimming, playing cards, reading, cricket on the lawn, and, as son remarked aged 7, my mother was a good cooker! and she was!! My stepfather was a lovely man and it was without doubt our lucky day when they met and married.
The evening's are certainly drawing it, I think it's this weekend that the clocks go back.
Thanks Jane, its been a difficult summer on the family front as circumstances have changed, and we have found ourselves a bit like a bone between two dogs, the greeneyed monster being the main culprit!! Hopefully we're getting there now and things should improve and we can go back to normal, Fingers crossed!!

Evening all,

It's been quite a nice day here ,we have seen the sun at times and also seen some black clouds ,i got all my three loads of washing dry and most of it put away in the airing cupboard ,just a few bits to iron and i'll do them tomorrow.

Gill your dress sounds nice just right for a ruby wedding party , with a little bit of sparkle it will look nice with black.
Is Sandra going with you ?

So you have finally finished clearing the house then Ann ,you must both be pleased it's all sorted at last, it's been a very busy time for you both over the last few weeks.
Glad to hear FIL is back in the home after his hospital visit , i wonder were all his clothes are !! i bet when they come back from the laundry they just go on the pile for any body to wear !! did you have to put name tags in his clothes ?
I know when dad was in a home for a while after coming out of hospital my sister got him a good shirt for his birthday , he only wore it the once and we didn't see it again !!

That wasn't a bad price for your tyres Mel , at least you know you will be ok for the winter now ,you need good tread on the tyres for the bad weather .

I have been giving the bedrooms a good going over today ,where does the dust come from ,we only use one room but the other two were just as bad !!
Tomorrow i'am giving my oven a clean i can hardly see through the glass door it's got so bad !!
Friday again tomorrow ,were do the days go ,clocks go back on saturday it will be really dark early then :-(

Don't remind us Mandy, It only seems a little while when we put the forward.

We had an electric blanket as a wedding present !!! as though we needed that then ;-) ;-) ;-) We tend to just have a throw over the top sheet. If it turns cold we might put a blanket on the bed. But we are both hot blooded, so it doesn't happen often.

Anne I bet with all those mouths to fed. The delivery driver for your groceries must think you run an animal shelter. A neighbour two doors sown has a delivery of "TRIPE" every week to feed her Three cats. I wouldn't have thought that was good for them. We always fed our cat on proper cat food.

Stone cold SOBER then Jane, What was up with the wine ??? :-( :-(

That meal we had this evening was enough for three or four people. Loads of veg, mushroom in garlic sauce, peas and carrots Potato and root veg, and of course the chicken. There's enough chicken for my lunch tomorrow.

Ros is off to LINUS in the morning, where she makes the children's blankets. she will get picked up by Margaret about 9.15 am. So she will need to get her ar## into gear in the morning as she was still in bed at 9.45 am this morning.

Still no word from my Nephew. Me wonders if he don't want to talk to me !!!!

Not out tonight, for a change. I feel so tired that I won't be late getting into my bed tonight.

Might pop back later if I have any news.

Mandy don't mention dust and dirt lol .I have too much of that here....Yes Where does it all come from???
I did my oven doors the other day. They get mucked up so quickly :-S

Tomorrow is the anniversary of Johnny's death .James is meeting up tonight with a couple of friends and then tomorrow all Johnny's friends are going out with Johnny's Mum and Sister for the evening . It still makes me cry when i think back to last year and seeing James walk through the front door after he had heard what Johnny had done.
. :-(

Change of subject now DINNER :-D....Sausages ,Bubble and Squeak ,and Peas
Sounds like proper Cafe food :-D :-D

Well, Sandra and I have watched two of the three Back to the Future films. We probably would of watched the third one by now if I hadn't got a phone call off the agent wanting us to do a viewing. We only had an hour to sort this place out, well, we were running around like headless chickens, the worse part was I'd stripped the bed and only had the sheet and pillowcases done, so I put a cover over the top of the quilt so you couldn't see it had no quilt cover on it and put some cushions on the bed, luckily they didn't notice the bed wasn't made properly. I couldn't gage weather they liked the place or not so will have to wait for the feedback off the agent.

Sandra and I are watching the soaps now, with a nice clean tidy bungalow, so I'm happy. I still haven't finished hemming my dress but at least it's all unpicked now, I will finish it tomorrow instead.

Annx

Annx Report 22 Oct 2015 20:06

Evening All,

Well we had a nice lie in this morning and it did seem strange not having all the tasks we have had the past few months. :-) We did get another call from the home though to say FIL had fallen again, this time from his chair. They had called the doctor who said his falls might be to do with a water infection which the hospital gave him antibiotics for. He also noticed some swelling in his legs and redness and wants him to keep his legs raised. I don't think that will work very well as he forgets things after 5 minutes.

I'm beginning to get a bit impatient with the estate agent as he said the house would be advertised online within 24 hours when we saw him on Monday and it still isn't! :-S OH rang him today and he was out, but I think I'm going to suggest me dealing with him next as OH is far too laid back and I am much better at nicely chivvying and asking uncomfortable questions to put them on the spot than he is!!! I think there must be a 'cooling off period' where we could cancel if needs be, but don't even know when that will be up as they haven't given us a copy of the contract yet, which is also poor and something else I would ask them about. :-S

That's brilliant little Cassie is such a credit to you Liz, but I'm sure a lot of it is due to all the time you put in with her since you've had her. I thought of her today when I sat reading a magazine looking over a local park. I often pull up in the car park for 10 minutes to watch the dogs being brought for walks. The Spaniels all start weaving side to side with their noses to scents when they are let off the lead and the 3 Springers I see have boundless energy fetching balls and dropping them in front of the owners' feet with little stumps of tails furiously wagging. One lady brings a Husky and Labrador and they are so good. They sit down as soon as they are on the grass and wait patiently while she slowly takes the lead off each one, neither moving till she gives the signal. lol.

Mel I paid £195 for 2 front tyres and tracking a year ago and they were only medium cost tyres, so that was a really good price you paid. :-)

David, I wouldn't be concerned about being regarded with suspicion by the hospital in the future. It isn't as if you have been a serial complainer in the past and they must be used to a lot of people ask for investigations into their treatment and must be aware of the sort of things that can go wrong with their side of things too.

Gawd I hope the oil comes out of your top Jane........it's a good job you weren't about to go out to a do or anything..........he won't do that again!! lol. Yes, Fitz is quite a character as Jane says and is very likeable and thoughtful. He does like his wine too!! ;-) I thought Cafe Food when we had a Fray B*ntos pie (remember those, it's been years since we had one!) with a jacket and mushy peas the other day!! Mind you it's nice to have these easy things sometimes.

Gill, your dress sounds really nice, I saw a pic of The Duchess of Wales in a burgundy lacy dress today and I used to wear that colour a lot when I was younger and black with it will look very smart. I look forward to seeing a pic of you in it. I bet Sandra will be trying on all her dresses to see which she wants to wear now. I hope the viewing went well and that was quick thinking to make the bed look straight in time.

Yes Mandy, just where does all the dust come from? It amazes me how it gets onto shelves in cupboards too when they are shut most of the time. :-S When we took the last lot of clothes for FIL a few weeks ago we sat and put his initials on them with an indelible pen while we were there like a carer told us to. I'm glad we didn't take him all of his clothes now. We've seen him wearing trousers with a patch on that aren't his and some bright red socks that weren't his. I've told OH we'll photograph what we take him in future. It's not as if they know which are their own clothes when they have dementia. He's been using someone else's walker the last few times we've been too!

magpie Report 22 Oct 2015 20:44

Yes Ann, she really is a dear little girl, and so affectionate, good as gold to leave in her crate,, and now in a strange house too! She's 8 months next week! and although she's full of energy, she is now sitting and waiting when OH throws the dummy for her to retrieve, searching the hedge and bringing the dummy back without running off with it, and paying attention to what she is told As you say, all the hours we have and still do put into her are beginning to show results. I was so dubious about whether we should have another dog, but I'm so glad we did!!

Thank you Anne. I won't lose sleep over it but never the less the idea is there.

Many years ago a Doctor or a specialist and their receptionists had paper records

That's all changed most is (or not) on computer. Does that make records easier

to massage? I only put the claim in hoping I might be awarded enough to buy a

modified car. The out comes makes you feel dishonest at having tried :-S :-S

Still no news regarding brother. I will have to get a number for him and ring direct. I disposed of all contact details years ago.

I forgot to mention Ros went to the church Choir practice tonight. She has just come in after stopping at Valerie's for COT. She said she can't sing like she use to, but no doubt it will improve with practice.

Good night all, see you in the morning.

Gillx

Gillx Report 22 Oct 2015 23:58

Sorry to hear there's still no news of your brother, hope you hear something soon Frank.

Do you remember the date you signed the contract with the Estate Agent Ann? If you do then it should be 14 days from that date that you have to change your mind and cancel....Well that's the way it works here. You should of had a copy of the contract when you signed it, our agent gave us ours at the time of signing.

You will have to put it in writing to cancel, so if you're thinking of doing that I'd do it straight away, but ring them first to see if you can pick a copy of the contract up from their office. That way you'll have proof of the date it was signed. I'm not a great lover of Estate Agents but unfortunately it's the only way to sell, but if you don't like the way they are handling things then change to another one. We've dealt a lot with agents over the years and all of them have their faults, but some are better than other's, so it might be worth shopping around until you find a good one......Good luck <3

Well, we've just finished watching all the Back to the Future films now, so we're off to bed. I've not had a chance to read all the posts properly yet, so will do that in the morning.
See you all tomorrow, hope you all sleep well.

Gillx Report 23 Oct 2015 10:10

Morning all

You were up late Frank, hope you manage to get some sleep in the end. Have you heard anything about your brother yet, maybe you could ring your nephew again. Do you have their address, you could send a get well card, that would remind them you're still around and show that you are concerned. They can't ignore a card.

I can't believe Cassie is 8 months old already Liz. It sounds like her training is coming on well. She's such a good girl isn't she?

Did you get the oil out of your top Jane, a bit of washing up liquid might work before you pop it in the washing machine. It works on greasy dishes, so you never know LOL it might be worth a try.

So what have you got planned now Ann you haven't got any sorting to do, I remember when we finally finished all ours after 6 months, I felt lost. It takes a bit of time to get used to not working liking a horse all day every day. Hope you manage to find all FIL's clothes, it sounds like everyone's get muddled up and they just wear what's available.

I'm going to hem my dress today, it was panic stations here yesterday with the viewing. I had cotton everywhere with unpicking the dress and all my sewing stuff all over the place not to mention my laptop, the living room looked a right mess. I still haven't wrapped up the Christmas presents, so they were all over the bed in the spare front bedroom. I'm so glad I cleared under that bed the other day as I had to put all the presents under there to hide them and with the bed not even made in the main bedroom, it was chaos.

The couple who were viewing were suppose to be here at 4pm but arrived 10 minutes early, luckily I'd just finished putting everything away and was ready with seconds to spare. I did feel sorry for them as they had been visiting a relative in Liverpool and had their car broken into. Their car window had been smashed and their belongings taken. They were freezing by the time they arrived and the man said he didn't want his wife sitting in the car for another 10 minutes, which is why they knocked on our door early. They were here for half an hour and he kept going from room to room to see how the rooms could possibly be knocked into each other. He said he wanted a couple of bigger rooms without having to build an extension, but I couldn't gage weather he had worked out what to do and weather he'd want to buy this place, so I'm waiting for the feedback off the agent to find out.

I've woken up with a bit of a sore throat, hope I'm not coming down with something. That's the problem with OH's job, he keep bringing all the bugs back with him. I don't think I've ever had so many illness's since he started working there. All the staff say the same. Once one resident gets something it seems to go through them all one by one. OH thinks it's the central heating, the bugs breed in that sort of environment don't they?

Well, I've run a bath so I'll get off and have a soak, hope the agent doesn't ring for the next 10 minutes or so.

See you all later

Good morning you cheeky chaps and all and evening Kim,

Very bright and breezy this morning David. Wish it was here as its dull with grey skies and I think there could be a little rian in the air.

Nothing planned for today so shall just muddle along with some kind of housework. My bedroom windows need a good clean inside so I may do that and some more ironing and then get the hoover out and suck some more cobwebs up.I only did them the other day and now have a load more.

Frank you have obviously got your brother on your mind so its not surprising you can't sleep. I hope you can get in touch soon and some way. Does your sister have his number?
