You know I have lady does for me. About a year and a half ago I hired her to give me a regular strip wash as I was unsteady on my left leg, The name of her job shifted to domestic house work, She does the washing and uses the Dyson and makes a good cup of tea. Many is the time I've regretted having no children or adopting, but of
course a daughter that age would have moved on. Ellen appreciates her help.

Yes, the several weeks I spent in that ward did sometimes seem unreal. So much surgery, but the nurses were wonderful

Frank I did see the children on JK this morning .I too had a little tear. That lovely little lad who had had his leg amputated. What smashing young boy.
I will be very good tonight and might just have my favourite Coconut Water....We will see :-D
Try and put the worry out of your mind tonight Frank. There is nothing more you can do.Enjoy your dinner :-D.It sounds good :-D

Oh Gawd!!.I just heard a little Miaowing at the back door.Saw a little Black and White face looking through the frosted glass.I opened the door just a little to let him in.Then noticed he was licking his lips!!.So I peered out through the glass and could see a shape of something on the mat.....Another headless rabbit :-S :-S.........Thomas won't be eating dinner tonight.

Strange how he likes to eat the head first !! :-0 must be the tastiest bit :-(

I use C*f oven cleaner on my oven door ,spray it on and leave for a few minutes then i use one of those wire scourers ,the shelves i soak in the sink in washing detergent ,leave a few minutes in really hot water then i use the scourer on them and they come up a treat .

Looks like we're in for a wet day tomorrow :-(

Jane Report 23 Oct 2015 18:47

He only eats the head !!!! then brings the rest home :-S :-S Gross :-S :-S
Yes a wet day looks in store for tomorrow.I might have to do some housework :-0

David I'm glad you have someone to help around the house now.It must make life a lot easier for you both.

Liz when I had Sciatica ,it brought me to tears too.I couldn't even put my foot down on the floor .I tried a tens machine which did help a bit.
Chris used to do Acupuncture and I have to say it was very useful at times. It is amazing how well it works.I doubt he has any needles left now .He also did Hypnotherapy.I remember him practising that on my Mum and Sister. It worked well with them but when he tried it with me I just got the giggles :-D

Thanks for all your tips re oven cleaning I job I hate so keep putting it off.

Abbie & Becky go to a school near the town centre so too far away to walk to my home their dad picked them up from school he was on an early shift so was able to do so he took them home first and as its half term next week no uniforms to wash.

Amy gave me a scare just now she got up and fell over and was staggering around she seems ok now so I'm hoping maybe she was laying awkwardly and her leg had gone to sleep. She has her annual check up next Thursday so I will mention it to Margaret our vet. She was perfectly ok on her walk this morning.

We had an easy dinner fish, chips & peas frozen for me and the girls mushy peas for Paul & Richard, Paul often stays for a meal when I have the girls and every Sunday as well. He gets fed well at work he works for Waitrose and their main buildings are here in Bracknell the downside is as an electrician he is often on call at weekends and bank holidays including the Christmas period.

It's the brains they like Jane! Imagine crunching up meat with teeth and bones in it.....yuk! I wonder if David's wife's cats do the same as Thomas and bring such regular presents home.

OH has found more going through some boxes he brought from the house. Two rings, both look like engagement rings he's never seen before and hasn't a clue whose they were. A letter from the king to his grandma after his grandad was killed in the war, just thrown carelessly and ripped in a box of other papers. OH had never seen that before either. You know the bit you rip off a medical prescription.........well they'd kept all of those too! Receipts for furniture bought in the 1950s. Also a letter from the constabulary after they had a chimney fire the first year they were married in 1950. It said an officer had noticed the chimney fire and had reported it and that they would be prosecuted if it happened again! OH knew nothing of that and I never knew you got reported for a chimney fire? :-S There are 2 more big charity bags full of shredded paper now.

I have sorted out the right bits to go with each of my old cameras this afternoon and will photograph and advertise them tomorrow. They are just taking up space and I shan't use them again so I may as well sell them if I can.

It's half term here this week Anne so it's been busy wherever you go. I use bril*o pads on my oven door too and a bit of C*f cream on stubborn greasy bits. I do the same with my microwave door glass too.

If you'd allow an interloper to interrupt your chat.

There is absolutely no need to put asterisks to 'disguise' a product or retailer. Genes used to warn against that as they didn't want members to criticise their market competitors. As long as you don't compare one FH site unfavourably to another, they really don't mind. So

Cif
ASDA
Morrisons
Ibuprofen
Oxo
Bisto
Dyson

And anything else you care to mention! :-D :-D :-D

Thank you DET, I have just followed what I was told ages ago so erred on the cautious side!

Please don't think you are an interloper, anyone is welcome here. :-D

Thank you Annx.

Your cosy little thread is lovely to read when time allows. It's just a shame some posters are still following out dated requirements. I think it stemmed from an employee of Ancestry spotting derogatory comments about that site, causing official complaints to be made to the original site owners. GR has changed hands several times since then - ITV & then to BrightSolid now part of the D C Thompson group.

It keeps the brain ticking along, especially as most of my own tree has been taken as far as possible. ;-)

As you've been discussing cleaning ovens, ours gets an annual birthday using Oven Pride. You soak the racks in the bag & liquid provided, preferably overnight. Then wash off in hot soapy water. They come up a treat with very little elbow grease. A small portion of the liquid is kept back to pour on the oven floor. As the liquid is quite potent, you do have to make sure you wear plastic/vinyl gloves and full sleeves.

Maz, from the Nut Lodge thread, recommends soaking the racks in a solution of bilogical detergent & warm water. She uses her bath - don't fancy that.

Mel Fairy Godmother

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 23 Oct 2015 23:18

Frank uses that oven pride and I have bought some. I just hope it dos'nt smell as I am not good on smelly things. Can't use a lot of cleaning products because of this as I taste the smells and it makes me sneeze, cough and my eyes water. Can't use perfume or use certain soaps, deoderents or anything that smells strongly. I have CSS.

+++DetEcTive+++

+++DetEcTive+++ Report 23 Oct 2015 23:27

Can't recall it having a strong smell, but if you are sensitive to certain products it may be best to have the windows and doors open.

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 24 Oct 2015 11:04

Morning all and evening Kim,

How on earth does your cat bring a MOOSE into the house David???

Raining here and the corn pot outside the back door for the pheasents is empty and we have five pairs of female eyes looking at us from the front lawn. Oh has braved it and got their corn and now two more girls have come down the garden so we have 7 female pheasents feeding and the new male on the block.
