The rest will have done you good Frank. As Mel says, it does take it out of you....all that 'trotting'!

Yes, the song isn't one you hear played much nowadays, but it was on the radio a lot at one time. It's a nuisance those spots are coming back Mel. Your hands sound very dry too. Could you put thin mitts on at night when you have put moisturising cream on them.

Oh I just saw your post Gill. I hope it is just the reset button. All that windy weather may have caused it. What a blow as you say and just as things seemed to be going right for you. Fingers crossed you can fix it easily.

Because of L leg's immobility Iv'e been on my back for most of the passed

two and a half years :( I used to sleep on my left hand side.

I'm noticing I'm waking every 2 -3 hours. Shuffle about a bit as your cheeks get sore.

But waking with a bunged nose due to prolonged periods on my back.
How would you suggest I have a better night?

Mel Fairy Godmother

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 24 Oct 2015 22:11

Can't you lay on your left side now then David? I sleep on my right side with my right leg straight and my left leg bent.

David

David Report 24 Oct 2015 22:51

My body's weight cause pain the knee Mel and the right leg would be lying

on top of the painful left leg.

I could experiment with pillows between my legs at an angle :-)

Evening all
Just calling in quickly to say our kitchen had been fitted He is just calling back on Monday to do a few odd bits. He started it's Thursday when we were away and almost finished it tonight. The electrician was also calling in to do the cooker and extracted fan

We had a nice few days away Tuesday we went into Eastborne it was a lovely sunny day but Wednesday it pored with rain all day

It has been overcast. Here for a few days we did have a heavy rain shower today

We have a big pine tree in our garden and I noticed a squirrel for the first time. Perhaps he had Sussex the birdseed out as well
I have also seen the heron on the lawn but my daughters dog suddenly appeared and it flew away Alan has seen it fly over a few times. I hope he haven't had any of our fish as I can't see them all
I will read though the posts tomorrow as I have missed a few days

I hope you all remember to turn the clocks back tonight

Night night

Good Morning all. Clear sky and sunshine here despite the weather forecast.

Had to change the central heating system's recently. They always cause problems

in the colder months, sod's law. Hoping everyone's OK <3

Morning all and evening Kim,

We have lovely sunshine too David but it was a cold night as all the windows are misted up and the grass outside looks very dewy.

Did you remember to put your clocks back last night?

Mel Fairy Godmother

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 25 Oct 2015 09:18

The nearest to wild life we get is hedgehogs and the occasional fox.

I remember you doing a lot of work in your garden Mel including a pool

Is it stocked with fish?

Gillx Report 25 Oct 2015 11:39

Morning all

The sun is out but it's freezing in here, I tried the reset button on the boiler but it didn't work and to top it all off my fire is making a loud noise so I've turned that off too. It's an electric one.

I think Sandra is going to have to stay at my mums with us having no hot water or heating, at least OH will be warm in work so that's good. I've got a blanket over me and will make a hot water bottle if I get much colder. I'm not to bad at the moment. I've had a migraine since 9pm last night so that's making me feel a bit sick now. Wish this place was insulated, we have that many air vents it's like living in a wind tunnel at the moment.

I went online last night and applied for a grant for a boiler, but it can take up to 11 weeks, I just hope my pipes don't freeze and burst. I've got a little heater I'm going to have to use but I doubt that'll do much and I'm thinking of having an electric shower put in so at least we can have a hot wash. My hair needs colouring so that'll be done in cold water, doubt it'll help my headache. I'm hoping with it being so cold that any bugs OH brings home from work will die rather than breed, so that's a positive ;-) ;-) LOL.

No I'm not posh David, it's just a word I use every now and then. Glad it made you smile :-D :-D I'm common as muck and proud of it :-D :-D :-D Very down to earth with no heirs and graces.

I'm so pleased your kitchen is almost fitted now Pat. Glad to hear you enjoyed your time away? Hope the heron hasn't had your fish.

Squirrels are so cute aren't they? Our Rosie came a little closer to the bungalow yesterday but was still very nervous so I put the nuts outside the door and closed it while she picked the nuts up and starting burying them around the garden, I think she ate a few of them too.

Apparently the man who came to view our place the other day doesn't like squirrels, he brought his daughter with him and because it was raining her dad and my OH went outside on their own to look around while I stayed indoors with her and we got talking, luckily when she said her dad didn't like squirrels I hadn't mentioned Rosie, I just said they run across the apple tree at the bottom of the garden to go from one neighbours garden to the other, hopefully it hasn't scared him off wanting to look at this place again. I just hope it's not to cold if he does want to come back as I'm not sure how I'm going to make our place warm and cosy, not going to be easy with just one small heater.

Going to get a hot drink now, see you all later.

AFTERNOON ALL,

Yes we did remember the clocks, just the bedroom one to do.

I slept well till 4.00 am (old time) got out for a wee. Then laid for ages to get back to sleep. We were both up by 8.30 (new time) Have only meet my "WHITE FRIEND" twice this morning, so have taken two immodium, and all seems well for now.

Ruby did look the part in her outfit. Both Ros and I had a good laugh. Good on her !!!!

Have you got the bench made up for Chris yet Jane. IF NOT WHY NOT ???

Still no flimsy nightdress shots here. Did you forget to send them ???
:-D :-D :-D ;-) ;-) ;-)

Nice sunny morning here also today.

I'm going to call in and see John on my way to watch the Manchester Derby. I did invite them to dinner but he's not eating a lot, and knowing the size of my meals, he declined.

Ros is busy blanket making for the children.

Dinner all prepared, I will cook it when I get in about 4.00 pm. Roast Lamb with all the trimmings. I just hope I can do it justice. !!!

Glad everything is nearly finished Pat. How's those pubs and the wine ?? I bet the dogs love their new surroundings !!

See you all later.

Afternoon All
The sun is shining and we have just sat out with our Coffee :-D.There was a grass frost first thing.
David I say Gosh quite a lot or Golly but not Golly Gosh together :-D.Some people think I sound a bit posh but I am definitely not :-D :-D

Oh Gill !!!! what a bug*** with the boiler and now the fire :-S :-S..Can you not get someone out to have a look at the boiler .It may be something simple(hopefully),at least until you hear if you can get a grant..Have you any hot water bottles that you can use to hold against you when you are sitting down?.I hope it doesn't get any colder there for you.It might be a good idea as you say for Sandra to stay at your Mums.I imagine she might enjoy that.

Pat it sounds like all the work is almost complete now :-D.I bet it was nice to get away for a few days too.Lovely beaches for the dogs to have a romp on.

LOL RUBY.I loved the Pumpkin Photos.Especially the side view one :-D :-D.The Makeup too was brilliant :-D..You are a good sport :-D :-D

Mel I hope you managed to get some good pics of the Stag and Doe.Can't wait to see them :-D

Next door has just been mowing the lawns.I am quite suprised as the grass is so wet.
Chris said he might have a go on ours tomorrow. He has just put the Garden Seat together and that is where we sat with our coffees. It looks nice and is quite comfy.

Fitz called in to see if I had any Cat Litter he could have .He has to keep Podge in tonight as he has done something to one of his front legs and is limping badly. He has a vets appointment first thing in the morning. Then Fitz is off to Sussex with his Mums ashes .Hopefully this time he will get there.as last time he got caught up in a 5 hr traffic jam on the M2.

We have finally taken down the fly screen on the back door :-D :-D.It does do a good job but is a faff getting through it with baskets of washing etc. It's one of those metal chain ones.

Anne how is Amy this morning?I hope she isn't still staggering on her legs.Pets are a real worry aren't they.Thomas is being a bit strange at the moment.Maybe the changing of the clocks has put him out of sync lol.He had me up at 5.30.

The doorbell rang just now and it was the Poppy people. So we now have our Poppies to wear :-).It is the same couple who collect every year .It must be 10 years now.

Gosh gosh I say it a lot and I'm not POSH!!!

Yes the pics of Ruby were great were'nt they? I don't think I could have thought of dressing like that but she certainly looked pumpkiny.

The sun is still shining away in the sky but it is a bit niippy out there and I have just turned the heating on for a bit. Sorry Gill. Can't you turn the oven on and open the door for a bit of warmth?

Just having a lazy day today.....................................

We used to have the same person go around with the poppy tin here too buit she has got a bit old and now they have moved away and another friend has taken over for the last couple of years. He is the builder who did our proch roof when it leaked a local lad.

Annx Report 25 Oct 2015 15:58

Afternoon All,

Still sunny here and the washing OH put out earlier and just fetched in is all nicely dry. :-) He also got the tops of the fences painted at last so they are ready for winter now.

Your seat looks very nice Jane. We were looking at some very realistic plastic wood effect ones with the little table between the other day and wondering whether to get them. The 'no painting' had some appeal! At this rate we'll have seats in all 4 corners of the garden!

Could someone please forward me Ruby's photo?

Gill, why not sit in the kitchen and put the cooker on with the oven door open? Mum used to do that to boost the heating anyway in her old house. You can manage a reasonable shower standing in the bath with some jugs and bowls of warm water to rinse you, especially if your OH helps. What a shame your fire sounds dodgy now too just when you really need it. I would get a local chap to have a look at the boiler as it may be something simple as Jane says and you may not need a new one.

David, I used to say 'gosh' but have tried hard not to since OH told me years ago that I sounded 'quaint'. lol. :-) I never thought of it as posh though. I used to say 'gordon bennett' a lot but thought I'd better stop that when OH came to work at our office, in case he thought I was taking the mickey!!!!!! I think I tend to say 'goodness me' instead now. :-) What do you say as an exclamation then? Or can't you repeat it on here? :-)

The deer must have been a lovely sight this morning Mel.....I hope the pics turned out well.

Nearly there then Pat! You'll soon be serving gourmet meals from your new kitchen! :-)

Ooops....forgot to post this a while back and I see Mel has said about using the oven to warm the place!

We've had a right old performance!! Our kitchen mixer tap has been leaking for a day or two, and this morning finally collapsed!! Luckily when we built the bungalow OH put stop cocks on all the outlets, so at least we could turn the water off at source and still have water in the bathroom, loo, taps outside etc. So, into B&Q we went and bought a new tap. To say it was a b....r to put on is putting it mildly!! BUT, finally after much swearing, OH has fixed it and we are back in business again??
Thank you for the photos Jane, I like the seat!! Sorry to hear about your boiler Gill, hope it can be fixed soon.
We get a lot of wild life here David as we live right in the country, and see hares, deer, Fox's, and all sorts of birds
It's a beautiful day here, but I must get on with lunch

Jane

Jane Report 25 Oct 2015 16:05

It is now blooming cold outside.I have just lit the fire.
Thomas is not happy.I have done his flea stuff on the back of his neck ,plus we have put a new mat down outside the back door and taken down the fly screen. So he is not sure about coming in now.He is sitting on the patio table looking like a very grumpy and out of sorts cat :-S
Chris has just been to Waitrose to collect a new Tom-tom for the car.His last one was so way out of date and so small .I am surprised the his Skoda Yeti didn't have a built in one.The one in my car is really good :-D..But we never do long trips in mine so I never actually use it.
No Frank...No shots of me in flimsy nightie...It wouldn't be a nice sight really.Maybe 30 odd years ago it might have been a different matter :-D :-D.Even that might be wishful thinking :-S
Have sent a pic of the new Garden Seat.

That word you all use and I've never heard uttered intrigued me so

I looked it up, It's a hundreds of years old middle English word

meaning God from gosse

:)

magpie

magpie Report 25 Oct 2015 17:33

David, I can't believe you've never heard the word gosh!! It's such a common expression, and used a lot.
We've finished dinner, and are crashed out watching a bit of TV. Cas is running up and the passage way with Quacker!! Hopefully she'll get tired in a minute and settle down in her bed.
I would echo Jane and Ann, Gill, and suggest you use your oven as a means of heat, till you can get the boiler fixed. Hopefully it's not a serious problem and easily fixed..
She's tired!! and washing her front paws!!!. 5.30 and it's quite dark!!

jANE YOUR BENCH IS LOVELY AND WE HAVE THE SAME ONE BOUGHT FROM A MAN WHO CALLED IN ON THE WAY BACK FROM A SHOW AND SOLD IT TO US CHEAP.

Sorry did'nt mean to shout.....

I like the green. I wanted to paint ours but oh would'nt let me as he said he liked it in the natural cedar. We got a folding table with it free. He called again this year but I think we have enough seats in the garden now. The picture came out upside down!! :-0

I have swept the bantams out, fed the robin and hogs, forgot to feed Percy Pigeon on the bantam house roof and had to go back to the workshop for more corn for him. Came in and washed my hands and went to get the solar lights out of the bedroom to bring into the kitchen and looked out the window only to find I had'nt shut the big girls in. I had to go and do that and put the corn they had'nt eaten under the roasting tin so the mice don't eat it in the night so came back in and washed my hands yet again and now I am sitting down for a while.

Ann I have sent the pics from Ruby on to you. <3
