Evening all
It sounds like you've had a time of it today too Liz with your taps, isolator valves are great aren't they, we have them on everything here so you can just shut off one thing at a time without losing everything else. I'm pleased you managed to fix it in the end and everything is back to normal now.
Love the upside down picture of the bench Jane, very AUSTRALIAN LOL LOL
You look great Ruby in your picture I love the make up too. Did your granddaughter enjoy her party?
Thanks for all your advice on using my oven to keep warm, it worked. I was cooking and the kitchen is just off the living room so I opened the door to let the heat in. My fire seemed to be ok on a low heat so I put that on too and made a hot water bottle and got back under my blanket, I'm now nice and warm. I've found a spare quilt so Sandra now has two on her bed because she said she was cold this morning when she woke up. The quilt is bigger than her bed so I've folded it in half which means she now has the equivalent of three quilts on her bed, that should keep her warm tonight.
I mentioned her stopping at her grans, but she wasn't to keen on that. I think it's because she watch's a lot of programmes and my mum doesn't watch them and only has one TV. Sandra loves her TV so doesn't want to miss anything. I said we can record them and she can come home during the day to watch them but then go back to her grans where she'll have somewhere warm to sleep at night, this seemed to be okay with her, so I don't have to worry about her being cold now.
OH's in work all day so he'll definitely be warm and I will manage with my blanket. I'm sure my mum will let us use her shower so at least we can all have a hot wash. At least I won't have a high gas bill for this winter so that's a positive :-D :-D :-D
I can only have a new boiler if the one I've already got is broken beyond repair and for them to find that out they'd have to take a look at it, so I'll get a price if it can be fixed, hopefully it won't cost to much then we can get it repaired rather than replaced which would be a lot quicker. I got a text when I applied for the grant to say someone will be in touch with me. I'm expecting them to ring tomorrow, so I'll see what's going to happen then. At least my fire is working and I've always got a little heater I can use, so I won't freeze :-)
OH got 87% on his English NVQ exam today and only has his health and safety exam to go which is on Tuesday then if he passes that he'll get his NVQ certificate. I'm made up for him, but he's a bit nervous of the last exam. I said to him health and safety is mainly common sense and if he applies that to his job then he'll be fine. I think it's because it's the last exam, but I know he'll be okay. I'm so proud of him <3
I'm going to get another hot drink as that seems to keep me warm, the living room is staring to go cold again, now the sun has gone down. I've got my dryer on and the kitchen door open plus the fire on low so it's all helping, but a drink won't do me any harm. BBL

Is anyone watching Britain's classroom heroes 2015 on BBC2, it's really good? I didn't know it was on, it came on after the F1 qualifying and finishes just before Strictly starts, so that's good timing. Sandra and I have been watching Educating Cardiff and the head teacher off that programme has won an award.

Evening all,
It's been a nice sunny day here so we went to the coast ,it was lovely going along seeing all the autumn colors in the trees , we sat and had our picnic lunch at Cley watching the ducks, swans and of course the sea gulls .
Called for you Frank but you'd gone to the pub :-D :-D
Gill sorry to hear you've now got trouble with the boiler ,i hope you can get it fixed so you don't have the expense of having to buy a new one . At least you do have the fire going now ,is there anyone who could lend you a couple of electric heaters ?
Ann , it must feel very strange being at home now after all the time sorting things out at the house . I sat watching the craft channel and they were doing Kumihimo ,making bracelets with the wire and beads they were so pretty , i thought of you and all the pretty things you've made .
Ruby you look great as a pumpkin :-D i liked the sideways photo :-D and the make up :-0 i thought you had two black eyes then i noticed you had sun glasses on :-D Hope everyone enjoyed the party .
Jane the seat looks lovely i like the color , mine photo came through upside down too !! I took my fly screen down yesterday while hubby was using the pressure washer ,but i only have the streamer type ,i don't think i will put it back up again as i think the flies are gone now .
Mel i'd love to see the photo of the Stag and Doe please ,have you seen the Heron any more ?
We thought we would have a nice easy tea ,hot dogs , all was going well the sausages were cooking and the onions were caramelizing nicely ,i came and read some posts and forgot all about the onions !! i now have to buy a new pan !! the old one got slightly burnt :-0 :-0 :-D :-D

Thank you for forwarding them Mel. Oh Ruby, you were the perfect pumpkin colour weren't you!! lol. The makeup was great too and the sunglasses just finished it off. I hope you managed to get the makeup off afterwards. :-0
It was a nice day for your trip to the coast Mandy..................fancy Frank missing his chance!!! lol. Do you know, when we woke up this morning we were saying just that about it being strange and us still feeling we have to do more clearing at the house!! OH said he was thinking we should go after lunch today, then suddenly remembered it was done. Thank goodness!! Our backs and knees have started to feel a lot better with just their normal twinges now since they've had a break from it. :-) Idid smile this morning though with the clocks changing and thoughts of FIL going round resetting all 18 of theirs!!.
Kumihimo can look very nice can't it and beads can be added as you say. I fancy having a go from time to time but it's another thing I haven't got around to trying yet. I must get on with some of the things we've been doing this term. The teacher is pressing us for her to take photos of what we've done up to now and none of mine are finished yet! :-0
Cas obviously loves her Quacker Liz! Like you we have isolator valves on just about everything.........it saves having to switch the mains off like in the old days! It's good you've got your tap fixed now, but you'd think new ones would get easier to fix not harder wouldn't you? The blue air has obviously cleared now.
It sounds like you are all sorted to manage for a few days Gill. Hopefully someone will come quickly to let you know what the position is with your boiler and hopefully fix it quickly. Well done to your OH in his exams so far and only one more to do. <3 He must be very pleased to have done so well. :-)

I think it was anno domini Ann that was some of the problem!! We're just not as agile as we were, and lying on the floor trying to refit the inlet pipe was a challenge to say the least as it was so fiddly. We're watching ' The first Human', and it's fascinating!

Morning All I had to let Thomas out at 3.45 as he was being a pain and have been reading and dozing since then.I thnk it is just beginning to get light outside but I have blackout curtains so it's difficult to tell and I don't fancy getting out of bed to see I'm nice and cosy where I am :-)
Well done toy your OH Gill and that great exam result.and good wishes to him for the last one tomorrow.I'm sure he will pass with flying colours.
Liz you saying about how difficult it was fitting your new tap yesterday reminded me of Chris many years ago when Hannah was a baby and one of the taps in the bathroom upstairs had gone.So he attempted t ofit a new one.It was a disaster. There was water coming through the kitchen ceiling. The tap he had bought was( I think this is right) the new metric size whereas the old tap was imperial so the new one was just not quite the right fit !.WE had to call an emergency plumber out and it was a Sunday so it turned out to be rather an expensive day and a right washout lol Chris never attempts any thing to do with plumbing now :-D :-D
Gill I hope to get that phone call today about the Boiler.I think I saw on the weather last night that the temepratures are going to be on th rise,so that will be a blessing for you.
Mandy what a nice day yesterday for the trip to the coast.Shame Frank was out LOL ;-)
Well I am going to sneak downstairs as quietly as a mouse and make myself a cuppa. James is not working today so will not be up at his usual time and Chris is still in dreamland . I have the Dental Hygienist at 10.30 so will BBL today

Morning Jane morning all
I'm smiling at the thought of you sneaking down the stairs as quiet as a mouse.....you're brave Thomas will have you :-D :-D :-D or should I call him HUNTER lol. Does he lay down and wiggle his bum when he's ready to pounce, our cats used to do that, keep an eye out for him, then run as fast as you can....Good luck :-D :-D I saw the weather too and it's suppose to be getting a bit warmer so that'll be good. I hope Sandra was a bit warmer last night with me adding another quilt to her bed, I'll find out later when she wakes up. I've put the fire on in the living room so at least she'll have a warm room to go to. It doesn't feel as cold this morning as it did yesterday, unless I'm just getting used to it.
I'm going to be brave today and colour my hair, I'll have to rinse it in the kitchen sink as that is bigger than the bathroom one. The first rinse will be in cold water to get rid of most of the colouring, then I'll boil a kettle to give me some warm water to finish it off, and warm my head back up. I've got a baby bath so I'm going to fill that with hot water and put it inside my normal bath to try and get a decent wash first. I know my mum will let me use her shower but I don't want to get hair colouring all over her bathroom, my hair is so long I really need to rinse it in a bath so I'm not sure if doing it this way is going to work and there's always some of the colouring that comes out even on a second bath so to keep her shower clean I'll sort myself out the first two times here, then use her shower after that. Hopefully someone will ring me today about the boiler so I can start getting the ball rolling on getting it fix or replaced.
It sounds like Cass is having fun with her Quacker Liz, I love to hear all about her, she's such a good girl. Did you take any photo's when she went to the hunt, I'd love to see some if you did?
It does feel strange Ann when all the sorting done, you feel a bit lost at first but then soon get used to getting back to normal again. At least now you can try your Kumihimo now and also catch up on all your other beading you need to do for your class. I'd love to see some photo's when you've taken them.
Did you manage to put your photo's on your pooter Mel? I'd like to see those too if you have.
It sounds like you had a lovely day out yesterday Mandy, pity Frank wasn't in lol.
OH said to say thank you for all your good wishes. I think he'll be glad when tomorrow is over and all the exams are in the past. He's worked so hard and is nearly there now. I'll let you all know how he gets on.
Going to boil the kettle now and start filling the baby bath for my morning wash, then it's hair colouring time. See you all later <3

Morning all and evening Kim,
Dull here today and its not nice after the lovely day we had yesterday. Nothing planned for today so I shall probably do housework and ironing and get that out of the way.
Good luck with the hair colouring Gill. I have to wash mine over the bath as its the only way. I can't do it in the shower as the shampoo dos'nt agree with me. Its the old back that takes the strain now leaning over.
I am pleased your oh passed his exams and today will be the last one so I hope he does well in that one too.

Morning Mel
It's tomorrow for OH's last exam but thank you for your kind wishes, I'll pass them onto him when he gets back from his mates.
Well, the wash worked, I'm so tiny I could actually sit in the baby bath......felt a bit silly but it did the job. I've now put the colouring on my hair and have decided to put hot water in both the baby bath and the kitchen sink then I can go from one to the other to rinse the colouring off, hope that works too.
It's not as bad as I thought not having a boiler, it's surprising how you can think outside the box if you have to. I'm just glad it's a bit warmer today as it might be a different story when the snow gets here if the boiler still isn't sorted.....just hope the water pipes don't freeze, that's happened to us before but we were lucky they didn't burst. I don't have a number for the plumber who's being sent through the grant people so I'm hoping they are going to ring me today, then we can start the ball rolling on sorting out the problem. I did try to search for them online but with only one name there were so many companies with the same name I wasn't sure which one it was.
Going to get a hot drink now as the hair colouring is making me chilly with my hair being wet See you all later

That was nice of her David, what's the DVD's she's lent you? I noticed you have a picture now, are you on it?
Good news here, the grant people have just phoned and luckily Sandra qualifies for the grant. We've had to put it through her as she is the only one on a benefit and owns the house....So glad she is still on the deeds.
Anyway, they have said that we do need a new boiler because ours is completely dead and that it should be done within 2 to 4 weeks after the survey is done. The survey is being done on 3rd November, (a week tomorrow) but if they get a cancellation next week they will ring me back and book it in earlier. I'm so relieved as I read on the internet that it could take up to 11 weeks for a new boiler, so 4 weeks max is much better :-D :-D
I wasn't sure if Sandra would qualify as the ESA she's on has two different parts and only one of the parts qualifies, luckily that's the one she gets. The woman checked while we were on the phone that Sandra is part owner of this property as I wasn't sure how I would prove that, so she check the land registry to confirm it.
At last, something's going right, I've been in tears with it all, but trying my best not to show it to anyone and keeping a brave face on things, now I can relax. Hopefully my headache will stop, I've had it for days with all the stress.
Going to put the kettle on now, so I can take the hair colouring off. Hope that goes to plan and isn't to messy to rinse BBL

Morning all, Evening Kim,
Lovely sunny morning here, I haven't been out so don't know if it's cold.
Tummy seems fine this morning. It might have been one of those 24 hour bugs. Ros has been fine.
"You are a good sport" sounds posh to me Jane :-D :-D But then you being a doctors wife, that can be expected ;-) ;-) ;-)
There was only 5 on us watching the football yesterday. Wasn't up to much either. Neither team seemed to commit, in case they lost the match. My WEST HAM had a great result against CHELSEA. !!! So I'm a happy bunny !!!
Gill, If you ring the manufacturer of your boiler, they may have engineers who are on the road, and could come and look at the boiler. It might be quicker and cheaper, as they will have the parts readily available.
You didn't knock very hard Mandy, !!! as Ros never heard you :-D :-D :-D
I called in to see John yesterday on my way to the pub. He is getting around the house on TWO STICKS. He has a scar about EIGHT INCHES LONG. All stitched up, and uncovered. He has a slight weeping at the bottom, so I said put a dressing on to save and infection. !!
You and Chris mush be very cleaver Jane, sitting upside down on your seat <3 <3 Mind your dress doesn't come up over your head :-D :-D :-D when you sit down.
Ann I bet you and Gordon don't know what to do with your time now. I bet you will be at your favourite carvery tomorrow.
Liz, that was unfortunate having to have a new tap, it only seems a few months since you moved in ???
My little dogs came to me as I walked into the pub yesterday. They know as soon as I walk through the door. Thank goodness I remembered the chew sticks. Which reminds me I MUST put them on the shopping list.
When my old "FRIEND" started twitching his rear end we would say "He's got the wind up his Ar#e" and he would fly up and
Northing planned here today. Will find something out of the freezer for dinner tonight, then sit and read my book.
David I am sure nothing you have said is offensive to anyone

I bet the dogs love seeing you Frank, it sounds like the little dogs know you now. Yes, don't forget to put the chew sticks on the shopping list or the dogs won't be pleased with you next time you go down the pub LOL. Glad to hear you're feeling better now.
As far as I know Frank the boiler won't cost us anything as it's on a grant, so I don't mind waiting a few weeks, it's better than a few months like I first thought it would be. My fire is working now and we've got a little heater if we need it. The suggestions of using my oven to warm the place up worked too, so we'll be as warm as we can be short term. We're using hot water bottles and Sandra, OH and I have blankets too, plus extra quilts on Sandra's bed has helped her at night, so at the moment we're all ok. I'm just hoping it's not one of those government grants that you have to pay back over 25 years through your electric bill, if that's the case then I'll leave the grant and see if we can get the boiler fixed instead, hopefully that won't cost to much.
I've rinsed my hair but it didn't rinse properly so I had to put my head under the cold tap, then finish it off with the boiling water mixed with cold again, that seems to have worked. I condition my hair so I'll have to go through the process of rinsing it again in a few minutes. I'll need to be quick though as I'm supposed to be going to my mum's in an hour and we are viewing a property this afternoon, plus I have my shopping to do.....just hope I have the time to fit everything in. Washing my hair in the kitchen sink takes a lot longer than I first thought it would.
Better go and put the kettle back on, good job I bought another one the other day, I'm using this one so much that it might pack in before the boiler is fixed with the amount of times I'm having to put it on. See you all later
