That is a point David as we tend to record things, never get round to watching tbem and end up deleting them months later!!
No need to thank us David, I think we're all glad to be companionable!

Ahh that dear little dog and that beautiful blue sea. I bet they are having a great time.

Ann It will be a shame if the classes stop because of people not signing up for them. I hope they get enough and can carry on. You'll miss it if they have to close the class down.

You can't use video recorders now they have to be DVD recorders. I have one that just plays CD's and one that records DVD's but have never found out really how to work it and when oh got me the first you view box that was ok but then we had the new one and that has stopped working and where we are there is not a good signal. Also being in a bungalow the ariel is quite low and we have all those trees out the back where it is pointed.

magpie Report 9 Jan 2016 07:38

Yes you're right Mel, they are DVD recorders these days, I still refer to them as video recorders!! As I said we have sky and that records and replays without any problems at all. We have a DVD/CD player built into the TV in the bedroom, and a separate DVD/CD player for the sitting room, so we should be able to find something that suits us both!!!.
Horrid morning here, OH looked out of the window and shut the curtains again, made us a cuppa tea and got back into bed!!!

Still dark and freezing here.

Mel, could your man obtain an extension mast to raise the height of your

TV ariel, or is there something nearby higher than your bungalow that the ariel could be attached to give you a better signal?

Morning all

It must of been raining a lot in the night as my patio is full of puddles. It's not raining now, which is good as I've got to go out soon and take the cushion covers to my mums, then do a bit of shopping.

What is everyone else up to today?

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 9 Jan 2016 11:12

Morning all,

Pouring with rain here too so your not alone those who have it.
It is so dark I have the two lights on in the kitchen and dinig area.

We did have an outside ariel on the side of the bungalow but with all the strong winds a couple of years ago it broke off and was hanging down one day when I went round to feed the chickens and it was all broken and twisted and bent. It gave oh a hernia putting it up there on its pole too and when we lay in bed if it was windy it made an awful noise. Hence when it came down it stayed down.......

Today after going to the shop I shall carry on making my pom poms as I am really enjoying it.

Just started pouring again as I type and its thundering on my car roof outside.

That's a pity Mel. No wonder your reception is a bit dodgy!! Maybe you could try going onto Sky? It might work better, as a they come out and fit it all up for you to make sure the dish is positioned correctly. You don't have to have an expensive package, you can either have a one off payment which covers the main channels + a few freebies, or you can have a package tailored to your particular needs, or a full pack a which gives you anything and everything. We have the minimum monthly payment one that just gives us the extra channels we're interested in, particularly the wild life ones which are really worth having. Might be something to think about!
Cheered up a bit now so I must clear up Merlins yard. This is OH's job, but he's taken Cas to another shoot! At least she should be knackered!!

Hi Everyone, Hello to Kim

I have had to order a new wedding ring, as I cannot get my original engagement & wedding ring over my knuckles,I have gone up 2 sizes from I -K, due to putting weight on.
OH didn't want me to re size my small wedding ring, in case if If I ever am ill and lose weight I have my original ring to fall back on.
I am still able to get my mums engagement ring(wore it as an eternity ring)on so will wear that instead of my engagement ring.

We had the first snow fall of 2016 yesterday, quite heavy lasted till about 9pm and then stopped snowing , main roads have already been gritted,
Hope the rain comes and washes the snow away,

Mel Fairy Godmother

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 9 Jan 2016 14:41

It's still very dull here and we have had some very heavy prolonged showers.

So first snow Fiona. Wish we could have just a bit for a day or two and that would satisfy me. We only had a sprinkling last a couple of times that just did'nt stay around long enough to enjoy it.

Our road down past the big house is closed as there is a deep dip in the road outside the big houses front lawn so they could'nt see the peasents passing by from the house. There is a large drainhole in the side of the wall but with all this rain it is now flooded as the water just isn'tdraining away. Some people know you can get past the dip by going through the big house grounds and Ralph has got a bit fed up with it so there are signs up to say Guests Only. He had the police down who closed the road off. It dos'nt really affect us but once a woman down the road had'nt lived there very long and she drove straight into the water and got stuck as it came half way up her car side. Oh had to rescue her and they had to close the road then as there is'nt enough room to get another vehicle alongside. They got a tractor to tow her car out in the end and tow it to the garage up the road as there was no way it was going to start for ages.

Afternoon all,

Dry here no rain so far and we have seen the sun today but it's really chilly now so hubby has just lit the fire he nodded off and felt cold when he woke up ,i was doing the jigsaw in the conservatory and with the sun coming through the window i felt nice and warm in fact i had to pull the blind down as it was so bright .

Mel have you tried a boaster on the aerial ? we had one on our aerial before we had sky as with the church being so near we didn't get a good signal at all and it did help.
Looking forward to seeing the Pom Pom Peg Dolls.

Happy Birthday to James hope he's having a good birthday .

Cas will be worn out when she gets home Liz ,i bet she's getting to know when she's going on a shoot now they soon learn don't they .

So you have had the first lot snow then Fiona , i bet every where looked really pretty this morning ,i love to see the snow when we've had a sharp frost and every where just sparkles .
I have a job to keep my wedding ring on i have to wear another ring with it or it would drop off if i shook my hand .
That's good that you have put a little weight on as you had got really slim, was it eating extra goodies over christmas that has made you put some weight on ?

I'd better put the kettle on i'am quite thirsty ,hubby is watching the darts and i'am sure he won't say no to a cuppa .

I bet Frank has been sunning himself today he will come home with a nice tan .

They're back now and she is one knackered little girl! Apparently she performed enthusiastically!! Is that good or bad?!! Okish I guess!! OH is giving her some supper, and making sure she's rubbed down as it is pouring with rain and they're both soaked!!
Yes Mandy, I can remember that years ago we had a booster for the TV. I think it was on the ariel input to the TV itself. Where we lived was in a dip and surrounded by a lot of trees and the signal (analogue in those days) was not good to say the least! I'd forgotten all about it, but it did make a significant difference.
I've had to replace my original wedding ring Fiona. Over the years it had to be altered about three times, and eventually got too thin. I also wear my mother's wedding ring which is platinum, and is in as good condition as it was 69 years ago when she first had it!!

MillymollyAmanda

MillymollyAmanda Report 9 Jan 2016 16:15

She's done very well to be enthusiastic in the pouring rain ,i bet they were both glad to be home to get dry and warm .

I have just had a rummage in the freezer to get a joint out for tomorrow, they were all at the bottom so i had to have all sorts out to find one ,i thought it was a pork joint i found but when i got in and put my glasses on i was beef not that it really matters it will go down the same way .
I was glad to get back in goodness it is so cold out now and rummaging in the freezer didn't help !!

Shepherds Pie for us tonight with carrots and purple sprouting broc ,we really like the white sprouting broc but they didn't have that on the market yesterday i think it might be a bit early for the white though i think that comes a bit later .

Mel Fairy Godmother

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 9 Jan 2016 16:47

We never get the white sprouting brocc down here. I think we grew it once many years ago.

I have just made a load more sausage rolls and now I am knackered and have to find something for tonights dinner!!

Hav'nt had a chance to get on to my pom poms today, too much to do as I got up late.

Is it James birthday today??? If so

<3 <3 <3 Happy Birthday James <3 <3 <3

Hope its a good one..........x

Gillx Report 9 Jan 2016 16:52

HAPPY BIRTHDAY JAMES

It sounds like Cass has had a good time again today Liz, is she asleep now?

So you've had snow Fiona? Sandra will be so jealous when I tell her. It's suppose to be getting colder here next week but I don't think we'll get any snow, we're not high enough and it said the snow would only be on high ground. Never mind the winter's not over yet, so there's still time for Sandra to get her snow.

I've been doing my family tree most of today, I've got someone helping me, which is nice, but it's still hard going with quite a few brick walls, so I'm still no further forward apart from finding out that one of my relatives married and passed away in Australia. I believe he had a couple of children but trying to find out who they were is impossible. There is a tree on Ancestry but I don't subscribe to them so can't view the tree even though it's showing as a public tree. So I've had to leave that part of my tree for now.

OH has just nipped to the chippy, we fancied fish and chips with mushy peas for a change. So I'd better go and butter the bread.

Afternoon All

Ooh Snow Fiona !!!.I did see the pic on your FB wth the children and snowman :-D.Looks like he has a bucket or bowl om its head lol
I think that is a good idea to keep your original wedding ring the size it is .As you say if you should lose weight again like you did you will be able to wear ity again.I wear my Nana's wedding ring. She married in somewhere around 1915-20 (I think). It is a heavy 22ct band.I say heavy. It was but it has got slighty thinner now over the years.

Good Cas.She really enjoys her shoots doesn't she Liz :-D :-D...I expect she is fast asleep now dreaming about her pick ups :-D :-D

All this talk of Lamb the other day made me remember I had a half leg of Lamb in the freezer .So that is in the oven as I speak :-D.Smelling good too.

Mel I can understand the chap from the big house being peeved with everyone using his grounds to get by the flooded rd.I imagine he wouldn't mind a few doing that but he won't want everyone and the Mother doing the same thing.

Mandy little Lewis sounds a lovely character.Walking well too.I wonder if by putting one arm up in the air before he sets off gives him a bit of balance and momentum :-D

James and Jess are going for a Thai Meal tonight in Seven Oaks to celebrate his Birthday. This afternoon they were going to go round to Jess's Grandparents. Not sure James was too impressed about that LOL.He does like her Grandad but can take or leave Grandma .She is the Matriarch of the family :-S

Thomas has been scratching at his ears a lot.So this morning I decided t otake him to one of these vets that you can just pop in.I explained I was registered with another vet but they only do emergency appointments on a Saturday.
I thought maybe he has ear mites or something .But the Vet said everything looked fine.He gave him a good combing with a flea comb just to see what was about ,but he was as clean as a whistle :-D..He is due his flea treatment too but I keep putting off doing it :-S.He must have got the hump as I haven't seen him since we got back about 10 .30 and he hasn't eaten anything today.....(I bet he is filling up on MEECE).
I was very impressed though as I wasn't charged anything !!!!!!!..If I had gone to my normal vet I think it would have been nearly £30 for a consultation.I did notice that there were several collection pots for various local animal charities so I gave a tenner and asked the lady on the desk to change it for me and put a couple of pounds in each one.

Chris is trying to finish off this dratted puzzle.I think if it is not done very soon it will all be going back in the box.It is just the last bits of the sky.But I cannot sit that low at the coffee table any longer and my hips are seized up :-S

I thi kthe Lamb is cooked now so will get it out of the oven and pop it under the top one to keep warm .

Jane Report 9 Jan 2016 17:29

Ann that was nice your friend from class felt well enough to come to the get together. It sounds like she has a long road ahead of her.I hope it all goes well.
Anne you too had quite an ordeal with all your treatment too.I have heard that one of the worst side effects of the Chemo is the ulcers in the mouth. It must have been dreadful.Thank heavens that we have the wonderul treatment these days to deal with Cancer .There must be millions of people in other countries where they will have no access to Chemo or Radiotherapy and they must suffer terribly :-(

Mel is it your OH's Birthday today too? I know it is someones. If it is I wish him a very Happy Birthday <3..It will be Chris next on the 29th.He will be 63.

It's chucking it down here now :-S

Gill I think it is a Northern thing to have Bread and Butter with Fish and Chips. We don't seem to do that here .

I'm the next birthday in our family plus our 52nd wedding anniversary which is a week later!
We've had spaghetti bolonaise for supper, which was easy and very nice! All cleared up and we are now settled for the evening.
I've never had bread and butter with fish and chips, but living here with the nearest chippy 7 miles away, we don't have F&C very often!

Mel Fairy Godmother

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 9 Jan 2016 19:34

Liz I think it is 9 miles to Holsworthy where we get our fish and chips or Chinese.
