Oh Ann, that did make me laugh!!, I expect he thinks he's being helpful!! I hope you don't disillusion him too much!! I have to bite my tongue sometimes and stop myself being a bit dismissive when OH does certain jobs!! So much quicker to do them myself!!! but then I moan if he doesn't offer to help!! He can't win really, poor old sod!!!

You two have made me laugh at the tightening of things. I know exactely what you mean................ We have lights in the caravan that get flies in them but oh always cleans them out for me as he says I may break the glass and cut myself.

When he did the bathroom up and put the new ceiling up he put six lights we had bought and three we had bought a long time ago to put in the kitchen. Those three you could turn as they were on a ball type thing. They are fine but the new 6 have flies in them. They are down lighters and there is no way I can reach them and I don't know how you get to them. I only hope he dos'nt have to go back up th eloft to replace any bulb things or get the flies out!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Just going to look at the travelling hat now and then signing out.

Ellen's often asking me to uncork bottles and jars for her. Her fingers are arthritic and she can't get a grip. She tells me it's partly responsible due to some medication she was on then taken off. I bought her a gadget but it stays in the draw.

Mel. how do your chucks put up with these strong winds?

Good morning everyone

Morning all

Opened the curtains this morning and it was snowning ,bit cloudy now but i can see blue sky .

I usually put a knife under the edge of a lid on jars if you find the right place it pops and releases the lid which then makes it easy to twist open.

Oh Ann i had to smile at the bags flying off ,i have to remind hubby to be careful when he opens the boot as he just pulls the bags out and the wind catches them.
With me its the shopping list that goes flying across the car park , i now get the list from my bag once i get in the shop.
Hope FIL is feeling better today.

Mel we have some flies in the lights we have in the bathroom ,it is a heck of a job as hubby has to get up in the loft to get the blubs out and it's in the narrowest bit of the loft too.

Morning all and evening Kim,

Dry here today but no snow LIke Mandy had. Its crisp with some sunshine.

Mandy I always lost my list in my pockets and it was even worse when I had two of them doing mums shopping too. Now I put a clothes peg on it so I can find it in my pocket or my bag and peg it on the trolly when I get in the shop.

Just as I left the shop yesterday it fell out of the sky and the wind whipped up and there was hail in the rain too. It lashed your face and nearly took the skin off. Everybody was hanging on to their hats for dear life. When the winds blowing the trolly even gets blown along . When I park it next to the car in certaian parking spaces it takes a walk all on its own as I am putting the bags in the boot. I don't park there anymore.

In our Morrisons they are aloud to give you a poly bag to put your meats in. I have those bags they sell in the shop, the smaller ones as I can carry those ones but not the bigger ones and I can fit those ones in the smaller trolly with heavy things underneath and then bags with the squashy things on top.

Ann hope FIL is a little better today. It will be nice for him to have the little party when he gets back to the home. They sound very careing there to all their residents.

Oh bought me a gadget that releases the jar tops and its so easy to use.

Talking of drawers, that's reminded me that I need to clean ours out! A nice little job for this morning.
Allowed to give you a bag Mel? Does it mean it's a freebie?
On the farm to the back of us you can sometimes see the Chooks hiding in the hedges or wherever, to keep out of the wind. I guess yours do the same Mel?!
You can use a coin to release the pressure on lids too. I've actually got a tool that I bought years ago that's bit like a bottle opener. You just hook it into the lid and it releases the pressure and hey presto!! I've also go another tool which actually twists the lid off, but that's not as good, and hardly ever comes out of the drawer!!!
A load of timber was delivered two days ago, so we're making a start on it this morning to turn it into logs. Doesn't take too long with the log splitter and saw bench, it's stacking them that takes the time!

Mel Fairy Godmother

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 3 Feb 2016 10:38

I have one of those as well Liz but I don't get on with it. The thing to take the lids off I mean. Once again it was mums.

My chooks at the back have no cover only thier chicken house which they spend a lot of time in if its too windy. They do get blown along a bit if their backs are to the wind. All their petticotes fan out! ha ha....

The thing that annoys me though is when I go round there and pick up their trough to put the food in and the wind blows that. There I am trough in one hand and a scoop of food in the other and I usually have to drop the trough and start again.

Hate having to clear draws out................................

Morning all, Evening Kim,

I looked back at the postings, and can't find my last one. I wonder where that went.??

Chris is having a bit of fun with "THAT HAT" I hope nobody sees him, they will take him off to the "funny farm"

Ann, I am still smiling over your OHs antics. What is he like. ?? Now you know why I don't go shopping with Ros.

Have you sorted out your "DRAWS" yet Liz, This can and bottle openers never seem to work for me. I tend to run the hot water and put the jar lid under it for a minute and it opens at the first twist. (TRY IT)

Not a bad morning here, rain first thing, now sunshine but still got that strong wind.

Had the West Ham match on T.V. last night at the pub, so that was a bonus.

The wind is blooming cold here.

Fed all the wild birds, pheasents included and the girls and bantams. Came in and was hungry so did myself a nice fresh new laid free range egg scrambled with some toast, luverly.

I've just received a questionnaire in the post asking me to fill in forms about the replacement I had six months ago??? :-S

magpie Report 3 Feb 2016 12:18

Yes Frank, I've now got nice clean kitchen DRAWERS!! I've even lined them with kitchen paper, so they should last for a while!! After lunch I've volunteered to clean out Merlins water trough in his field, and his bowl in his stable, so that's my afternoon mapped out! OH wants to get the logs prepared, stacked, done and dusted by the end of today, so it's a busy afternoon for us both. Cas can help, it does her good to change the routine now and again!
Must hang some washing as its sunny with very little wind today.
What replacement David?!!

David

David Report 3 Feb 2016 14:16

Knee replacement
It was 6 month or more ago I was told no more surgery!!
Now I've received a 20 question form wanting know how successful, or otherwise the knee replacement was.

If no more surgery was uttered to the wrong man ie me.....does the system think
I've had a total knee replacement??

Not sure whether I should laugh or cry :-S :-S

Frank Report 3 Feb 2016 14:47

Bright sunshine here at the moment. Neighbour has washing out, I wonder if she will get it in later !!

David, what did you have done to your knee ?? Why on earth would they be asking questions after all this time.

Had a bit of ban news this morning. A lady (Joan) use to clean and iron for us, when we had the shop has passed away. She was a lovely woman,Ros and Carolyn both would visit her. A lot of the time she didn't know they were there, but still visited. Her son phoned this morning to say she passed away peacefully on Friday. The Funeral is Monday week. So Ros and I will go. Carolyn is in Tenerife until March 3/4th. I let her know this morning.

Nice open air job for you and Ian this afternoon Liz, hope you don't get to cold !!!

No Gill today, I hope she hasn't fallen of the steps. !!! How's the OHs Shoulder today ??

Ros has just made a COT and bought in a cream cake (I won't eat it, but I know somwone who will) ;-) ;-) ;-) ;-)

Annx Report 3 Feb 2016 14:49

Afternoon All,

OH has gone to visit his dad and see how he is today. He expects he will be sleeping again so I expect OH will be sitting doing Sudoku on his mobile! He wants to see someone if he can to see what they have found on all the tests they did.

Yes, I have one of those twist things to loosen jar tops too, which is handy with a new jar that hasn't been opened, but what gets me is that most of the problem is OH putting them back on too tight!! :-S I never put any jar lids on tight nor any light fittings and never had problems, so why does he need to???? :-S Is it a 'MAN' thing Frank!! lol :-D Yes, what is he like!!!

Well done on doing your drawers Liz! When we had our kitchen done I got rolls of thick clear plastic to cut linings for all the drawers and they just need a wipe every so often now. What I never got round to doing was put sheets of paper on the top of the top cupboards in the kitchen so they will need a soapy wash instead of just replacing the paper. :-S

OH is back now and said FIL is much brighter and was cheerful and sitting up chatting away. He doesn't make much sense but with his Alzheimers it's to be exected. He is still on oxygen but he's been moved to a ward now so is obviously doing better.

I see Chris's hat is still on it's travels!! lol. It reminds me of that teddy bear that was photographed in places all over the world. :-)

David

David Report 3 Feb 2016 16:19

David, what did you have done to your knee ?? Why on earth would they be asking questions after all this time.

Answer is nothing. Six surgical operations plus a biopsy in 2013. Lots of intensive physiotherapy plus another operation 2014.

I've a diseased bone that used to be my left leg. Last summer I was invited into the Freeman Hospital along with many others. Then I was told "no more surgery"
Now, six months later I receive a questionnaire all about my replacement knee :-S :-S

The disease entered my leg during one of the operations resulting in a biopsy.
That's why you sign consent forms, it protect them :-\ :-|

Afternoon All
Well trouble has returned with 'Hat' from Suffolk :-D.He said he had a bit of snow too Mandy this morning. think he has enjoyed his little break away.He is now cluttering up the kitchen with all the bits and bobs he has bought :-S.I asked him to go to a Farm Shop that we went to last year to buy some of their lovely sausages. So he got them ,some nice bacon and a juicy looking joint of Pork. All from the Blythburgh Pigs.

I remember that bear or Teddy Ann that travelled .I think a postcard was sent from each destination :-D.I think there was a Garden Gnome too that been taken from someones garden that went all over the world lol

Ann I am pleased that FIL is improving well now.Hopefully he will soon be back at the Care Home.Plastic bags flying out of boots !!!!.I have seen that a few times with people chasing all over the carparks. As for openings jars I too have bother.Just don't have the strength in my thumbs to grip properly.

Liz I need to clean out some Drawers.Especially the kitchen ones. The fluff and dirt that collects in the bottoms is horrendous .

Mel I could quite fancy a couple of your lovely eggs on toast..I think tonight it will be Southern Fried Chicken ,Potato Wedges and Peas for me and James .Chris has eaten so won't be wanting anything much.He might do a bit of Cheese on Toast.

I now have a BRIGHT BLUE courtesy car on the drive..Not the Yellow Peril.I just hope they can get the Sensor problem fixed this time. The poor chap called Arron who sold me the car face dropped again when he saw me walk in yet again this morning. He feels very bad that I am having this trouble. I am on first name terms now there !!!!.No more Mrs Rose..It is Jane LOL

David I can't believe you have had that Questionnaire !!!!!!!!

Mel I think all shops are obliged to give free bags when buying fresh meat. I do wish though that when buying clothes that they would provide a bag.I hate having to put clothing in unbagged onto the top of my food shopping.I now try to remember to keep a bag or two in the car just for clothing.

Yes I wonder where Gill is.She and OH must be absolutely exhausted.

Tomorrow afternoon the Plumber will be here to sort the drippy tap(fingers crossed) then on Friday morning the Gas Boiler should be serviced between 8 and 1.Then I will be off to London for the night to see Eddie Izzard with Hannah .So I will be packing my little overnight case tomorrow
:-D...Do you think I should pack 'HAT' LOL

Just had a call from the garage...They say car is sorted. But will take if for a run first thing in the morning and then I shoud be able to go and pick it up.

Frank ,that was dreadful about the Murder of that young girl in Northampton .I see they have arrested a 51 yr old man.

I better go and have a chat with Chris. He asked if I missed him.....I said not really as 2 days isn't that long :-D.It has gone so quickly.

Anne

Anne Report 3 Feb 2016 17:30

Jane, so the hat has returned with its owner, did Chris actually wear it? I like the photos of it.

Very cold and windy here today so haven't been far.

We have cottage pie tonight with sprouts and carrots so we will be eating about 6.

Midsommer Murders on this evening so will be watching that.

I need to clean my kitchen drawers as well, the cutlery drawer gets a lot of crumbs from the toaster as it's on the worktop directly above it, It's a job that doesn't take long so I should clean it out more often.

Still no Gill I hope they are OK

Jane

Jane Report 3 Feb 2016 19:13

David ,I think they made a right cockup with you and you leg.I still think it is outrageous that there is no record of that bit of metal left which caused the infection and all the trouble that followed :-S :-S :-S
Anne ,yes he says he did wear the 'HAT'..I think he might have when it was blowing a gale on the coast. But i still get the impression he feels a bit daft wearing it.
