I managed to clean our bedroom windows, the ones in the spare room, the passageway and bathroom, so the ones at the sleeping end of the bungalow are sparkling, tomorrow I shall try and do the living end! The evenings are certainly drawing out which makes the days longer and not quite so gloomy!! We've been researching diet this afternoon and have discovered that certain foods are actually harmful for cancer patients, particularly sugar, so we are having a bit of a re jig on the food and drink front. Sugar is very difficult to avoid, but at least we can buy foods with a lesser sugar content. Need to anyway as we're both overweight, and I've got hypertension, so it's a good thing to be doing. There are so many daffs and crocus out, they're making the garden look really springlike!

Afternoon All
My word it is freezing today :-S.I have the heating and the fire going.Mel Ibet your Roses look amazing :-D
Liz,I remember last year you saying it was the anniversary of your Step Fathers death and the anniversary of my Dads too which will be on Sunday.29 years for both :-(.I just can't believe how 29 years have passed .It is good that you have so many happy memories as I do too.Dad was such a lovely man and was only 64. Did anyone watch the programme the other night Simon Dies ? it was the man who decided to go to Dignitas in Switzerland.I wasn't sure weather to watch it or not as he had M N D the same as my Dad.But I did watch. He reminded me so much of Dad with his notebook and pen he used to communicate when speech had gone.I did have a few tears but am really glad I watched it.
Frank ,I reckon we may be the only people to object to the proposed planning. It isn't really about the housing but the fact there will be yet another road opening onto Cranford road.I think there will be 4 all together really quite close together :-S.The thing is all our close neighbours are up for selling off part of their land to the developers (so they won't be objecting) But we really hate the thought of having a road right alongside our house. Also if it doea all go ahead I dread to think of the mess and noise with lorries etc coming and going for probably years. If the bungalow is demolished too the filth that will find its way into our house doesn't bare thinking about :-S :-S Ann you are right about Thomas too .That will be a huge worry.....But I am just hoping that whatever happens will a long time off yet.
Chris forwarded me the set out plans so I can always send them on by email.
Liz do you keep your fire going 24/7 through the cold months, and is all your cooking done on it?
Crumbs Liz it must be chilly in your kitchen with no heating.Do you plug in a heater to take the edge off when it is really cold?My Kitchen even with a radiator is never really warm.I think it is because the little room outside the kitchen where I have my FRidge Freezer and other Fridge has no heating so any warmth gets sapped from the kitchen .Now if the door was kept shut it might keep some heat in....BUT Chris is a devil for leaving it open,James too.
I bet Ros loves your tummy really Frank ;-)You are a slim man and I can't imagine you really have much of a Beer Belly.
I hope your Sister in Law will recover from her Aneurysm Frank. One of our friends had the same and was treated at the John Radcliffe a few years ago .Full recovery for him thank goodness..Chris's Mother died at the age of 43 from a Brain Aneurysm when Chris was just a little tot.He can't remember her at all. :-(
How is FIL today Ann? I hope he hasn't had to go back to hospital.TBH I think he would be better off being looked after at the home if possible .
The fire needs attention !!!!!!!!I have nearly let it go out :-S

You have been busy Mandy, I have cleaned and dusted the sitting room as the sun was showing up the dust. I cleaned the kitchen floor but that has to be done at least once a day thanks to all the tiny pet feet
Amy was sick this morning it was by the kitchen door she must have asked to go out but I was upstairs cleaning my teeth, she had her walk but wanted to come back home earlier than usual, she seems ok now.
We had a condolence card from the vet this morning with a hand written note from her inside which was a nice thought
Frank I hope you sell your mower and manage to get the one you wanted on e-bay I have never bought or sold on line..
Ann I do hope your FIL's treatment is helping him to recover.
We are having our usual Friday meal tonight, stir fry which doesn't take too long as Richard sometimes works a bit longer on Fridays if there is a job that has to be finished.
Mel your Roses sound beautiful.

Anne I hope Amy is ok .That was lovely to get a card from the Vet :-D I see Mandy ,you and Liz have had a day of cleaning.I did a fair bit yesterday.I have done a load of ironing today, but other than that not a lot.My hips are being a nuisance today and feel like they both need a good oiling :-S.Maybe it is the cold weather. I just have been walking around a bit like a duck :-S I might have a bath later to see if that will ease things up a bit.
Thomas has just come in.He has that look of mischief about him .I better watch out for my ankles as he may well try and have a grab :-S
I now have that song in my head The RHYTHM OF LIFE !!!....I haven't heard that one in years...Oh Super Trooper .I will be singing that one now too LOL..Trouble is once you have a song in your mind it just won't do :-S
I will have to get James's dinner in soon as he is going to Jess tonight for the weekend. He isn't buying flowers for Valentines. They would be wasted on Jess.So he has bought an iTunes card/voucher or whatever they are called. That makes far more sense to me.

Yes Jane we keep the fire in 24/7, that's why we get so much clinker in the chimney. We're burning logs that have been drying for two years, but they still produce damp!! We only cook in the oven, the rest we do on the kitchen stove Our kitchen/diner /sitting room is all one big open plan room, so the log burner heats the whole space. We've got a wall heater in our bedroom, spare room and a blower in the bathroom, but to be honest we hardly ever have them on. The fact of being a double log cabin and being so well insulated between the outer and inner skin, triple glazing, with windows that let the heat from the sun in and retains it, +floor insulation makes it very warm even in bitter weather as its designed for a Scandinavian winter! and of course very economical to run. Our son really loves it and would like to eventually buy some land and have one built. Whether he will or not is debatable as I'm not sure that he could bear the hassle and planning can be a bit tricky in the UK!! No we didn't watch that programme Jane, we did debate whether to or not, but we decided we could watch it on catch up if we wanted to. I probably will.watch it at some stage! Yes I remember you said about your dad. MND is such an awful disease, I felt so sorry about him dying from something so horrible. My s.father was 67, my mother was just 68. Far too young all of them.

You lot have been busy bees today. I did dust all the hallway. I have a plate rack in there with lots of bits on it so it take s a little while to do. The barometer moved a great deal when I did that and gave it a tap. It moved to rain and sleet!! Nothing different there then.
Then I opened the mealworms that arrived and you have to put them in a big tub with some porridge. They are packed in newspaper and you have to go through every sheet to make sure you don't miss any. Five sheets in the bag this time. The bag has a strong wire twisted on it so they can't escape in the post.
My dad died at 57 when I was 30 and son was 10 on good Friday 13th April. They say god takes the good.
Poor Amy being sick and she could'nt tell you she wanted to go out, bless. I hope she is ok. It was nice to get that letter from the vets too Anne.
I was on tenter hooks watching Jericho last night.

Evening All,
Well, another phone call at 6.00am this morning......FIL had fallen out of bed and banged the back of his head so they were ringing for an ambulance. I went off to beading and OH was ringing the hospital regularly till after 5.00pm this afternoon just trying to find out where his dad was. They were either not answering or put him through to numbers that weren't answering!! :-S He even rang the home a couple of times in case his dad was back there. Anyway eventually he got to speak to someone and FIL is being kept in over the weekend and is very dehydrated and has low blood pressure. In between ringing OH went into the city to pay in the house cheques and rang the utilities to cancel things for the house.
At beading we started a bracelet which will be decorated on top with more beading (something we haven't done before!) when we go back after half term. The bead lady had lots of nice things so I think most of us spent more than we intended. :-)
I think your mower should go quickly Frank, the one we sold for FIL did and people will be looking now it's spring. :-)
OH is out tonight with his footie cronies to a 50th birthday bash for the young chap who has cancer. He isn't so keen on these dos these days, but will go to be supportive. Then he's off out on Tuesday to Derby for a meal with 3 lady managers who used to work for him.
I suppose some of your neighbours might be glad to lose a bit of garden Jane, especially if they have lived there for many years and are older
You are all putting me to shame with all your cleaning!! I'm just not in the mood for it!! I think I need a holiday instead.
I hope Fiona and William are ok....we haven't heard from them for a while have we?

that's shocking news Annx. Must be a heck of a strain on your OH, not to mention FIL
I recall when we sold in laws house. Cancelled the direct debits for water, gas and electricity. Then I phoned BT customer services. Young man says, how can I help etc. I replied, this number I'm calling from, spoke the number for him, the property is sold , disconnect BT from this phone. I see he says, what is it you want me to do? Well I'd had a stressful morning so I replied is this your first day? He hung up!! Now I've to start again thinks I. I dialled BT customer services....line dead They're not deef, they just don't listen.

You've all been very busy today, I'm feeling tired just reading about it :-) :-)
Sorry to hear Amy was under the weather this morning Anne. I'm pleased she's feeling a bit better now, you must of been worried. That was nice of the vet to send you a card, one of the vets we went to with Jez (our middle cat) did the same thing when we had to have her put down, she was 16 years old. It was such a nice thought.
Your place sounds wonderful Liz, nice and cosy, I'd love to have a place like that, especially having it all open plan, now that I would like.
How lovely Mel, roses, OH bought me some flowers today for valentines. I was quite surprised as he normally doesn't bother, but I'm glad he did as they are lovely.
I hope they don't make a new road next door to you Jane. If all these buildings are going up does that mean it will de-value your property? and didn't you say they were building over the road as well, so you'll have no view at all then? People pay a premium for views, maybe you could use that to persuade them not to build the road, that and the noise and pollution from all the vehicles coming and going.
I chatted with Michelle online today, she's had an accident and hurt her ankle and back. She was walking up the steps to her flat and the top step gave way, luckily she didn't fall through it, but is in quite a lot of pain with her injuries. She reported it and they have just put some concrete flags over it and not replaced the step so she's started using the back door instead incase it all goes through. I said to let health a safety know then the step stands a chance of being fixed properly, she took photo's on her phone of the hole and the six foot drop underneath it and also of the bad patch up job the housing association have done. She said it was dark so she didn't realise how bad the step was until the next day when it was light.
Luckily her boyfriend was with her and she managed to get her balance before going through the hole. She's now thinking of moving in with her boyfriend as he has a much better place. Her's is rubbish and she's had some terrible neighbours. They are thinking of saving up a deposit for a place of their own so if they share his flat for now it'll make it easier and faster to save.
I'm just a bit worried about her. I'm not keen on Leeds, and where she is, is a rough area, but she can't afford to move to a better area just yet and thinks it might take over a year to save up enough to move somewhere better.

Oh no Ann, hope things get better for FIL, it must of been so worrying for your OH not knowing what was going on. I'd keep an eye on them to make sure FIL is fed and watered properly this time, you don't want him to get worse. After all he's suppose to be there to get better.
The beading you're doing sound interesting, I'd love to see a picture when it's finished <3

It is a strain on him as you say David and what affects him obviously affects me too. We were saying earlier the past 2 years with his parents have been such a worry with just one thing after another and nothing straightforward. The hospital are moving FIL to another ward tomorrow. All this toing and froing to hospital and moving from one ward to another can't be good for him. He doesn't travel well and is already confused with his dementia. OH is going to see him in the morning and will be asking about his food and drink regime. It's FIL's bank that has caused us a lot of headaches David and OH never did get through to the energy company today.......some fault they are dealing with. :-S
I can understand you being concerned about Michelle Gill. There are parts of the city here where I wouldn't go in daylight on my own! I hope she hasn't hurt herself too much after the fall and don't blame her for using the back door. When we bought our bungalow 16 years ago, because we had a view over fields at the back it cost 10% more than the bungalows that didn't have a view
Poor Amy Anne, she tried to do the right thing and get outside bless her!
Liz, your place sounds a lot like the place we stay at in Cornwall and we have said we wouldn't mind living in a lodge like it. They warm up so quickly like you say and being open plan are so airy too.
OH is on his way home already so he didn't stay very long. Someone he saw at the do that bought FIL's old film projector said the new people have already moved into the house!!

Morning all
Weather's overcast here today, so not sure what it's going to do. It's still very cold though.
Not again Frank, you were doing so well not losing your posts lately. Did you back space delete again?
10% extra is a lot to pay for a view you are now going to lose Ann. Maybe you could get it back off the builder, not sure if you can but might be worth looking into as it's a lot of money to lose if or when you decide to sell and of course your bungalow may of lost some of it's saleability as well now, as I'm sure a view would appeal to potential buyers more than houses and being over looked.
I've woken up with a bit of a sore throat, OH said he had one and thinks he's picked it up from work, that's the problem with him working in a care home, he brings home all sorts of bugs so we all end up ill all the time.
Going to get a cuppa now to see if that helps. Not much planned for today, just going through my family tree trying to fill in a few more gaps. What is everyone else up today?

Mormimg all, Evening Kim,
Yes the old back space seems to be my downfall. I did click on the forward arrow, but it had gone. :-P :-P :-P In future If I see a mistake I will leave it, so be warned. !!!
Stating to drizzle here now. Ros has gone to meet Martine for their Saturday chat and shop round Morrisons.
I was saying last night, that I would think Gordon will have something to say to the LOCAL HEALTH AUTHORITY, about the treatment of his dad. The poor old chap has certainly been left to his own means. :-( :-( :-(
I ran out of beer last night so had a few glass's of White wine. Very refreshing it was too. I can understand Jsne enjoying heres. hic hic. ;-) ;-) ;-)
Well this cleaning bug is spreading. Last night, I noticed a bulb had blown in the cooker hood/extractor, so I took it down to replace the bulb (which I hadn't got)and decided to clean the filter. Ros then went one further. She cleaned inside the cooker hood. Then started on the fridge. She outed loads of cartons of drinks that were out of date by some time. Everywhere is pristine now. She will get the new bulb this morning, so I will put the filter back later,
My Nephew rang again last night. The trouble with my SIL was in the HEART. She is being moved from IC today to a ward. and will be discharged when they think she is ready. Trust him to get things wrong
;-) ;-) ;-)

Morning Frank
I was beginning to think I was on my own today :-(
So it was the back space delete, maybe if you press it slowly it might not delete the whole post, or like you say leave the errors, we can work out what you are saying. I think I've missed a post, as I don't remember reading anything about your SIL. Pleased to hear she's on the road to recovery now, it must of been a worrying time for everyone.
My arm is finally feeling a bit better so I've manage to do a few small jobs around the place this morning, not to much heavy stuff though. It sounds like you had a big job with your cooker hood Frank. I bet you're pleased it's all done now :-) So you ran out of beer and started on the wine, yes some wines do taste really nice don't they? Watch out Jane you have some competition now LOL :-D :-D

Morning all,
Bit dreary here this morning but at least it's dry ,no frost this morning but it's chilly out so the fire is lit already .
Ann you must both have been so worried not being able to find out where FIL was and what was going on , that is really bad ,i hope OH can get to have a good talk with some one and hopefully it will be at meal time so he can see if he has any help with eating his meals and also drinking . That was quick some one moving into the house already ,they didn't let the grass grow !!
Liz how do you keep the wood burner going all night ? do you load it right up and shut all the vents ? we've never tried keeping ours in all night ,some times there a tiny little bit of red in the morning but hubby usually gives it a good riddle and then relays it ready to light later in the day .
Oh Gill that must have been a scare for Michelle nearly falling through steps ,sounds as if she was very lucky not to have dropped right through ,six foot would have been a long way to drop !! hope she's not in to much pain . Hope your sore throat soon feels better ,hubby has a terrible chesty cough he's been taking medicine for a few days now i told him if it's no better after the weekend to go to the doctors .
Frank you've reminded me that i should look at my extractor ,i haven't given that a clean lately . Fancy running out of beer !! some thing for the shopping list today . Sounds as if your SIL is getting there now if she's moving onto a ward ,hope she keeps improving .
Anne i hope Amy is ok today ,that was nice getting the card from the vets ,we got one when we lost Toby.
Oh the chap is here to do the grill on the cooker . BBL

Good morning everyone
Oh dear Frank another post lost its only happened to me a couple of times, I wish there was a way on here that you could save the post while you altered things as you can on WORD, at work with the accounts, payroll etc everything could be saved. The only way round it is to submit the post and then go back in to edit it
Its been raining here ever since I got up at 8o/c. I've just cleaned the bathroom and downstairs cloakroom and that's all I intend doing today apart from meals.
I would like to have a bungalow now I'm older as I don't need the four bedrooms anymore, downstairs isn't too large as the 4th bedroom which is Richards is over the garage but I do like it here being so close to the forest for Amy's walks.and its a very quiet area with lovely neighbours
Paul is taking Abbie to Dorchester today to stay with Aiden. her boyfriends parents for the week as its half term so its just Beckie and Paul tomorrow. It is quite a long way from here so he will be tired when he gets back to his house
I think I will have a look at my family tree which I have on Ancestry, actually I have three on there, the first one is Peter's and mine together with all the cousins etc but when I retired for the 2nd time I decided to do two individual ones with direct lines only, much better but I do have some brick walls.
Ann I do hope you FIL treatment has improved it must be so confusing for him to keep being moved and seeing different faces all the time.
Amy is back to her usual self and has been playing with her Christmas toy monkey she is expecting her longer walk from Richard but its raining harder than ever now so she will be disappointed.

Afternoon all,
Been looking things up for Gill this morning. Did'nt get up till late either.
Rain in the air here and its very cold out there today.
Have to go up the hsop for the paper as usual. Nothing else planned for today.
Frank it must be good your SIL has been moved to the ward now. I hope she continues to progress now and will soon be back home.
All nice and clean on the cooker and fridge front then Frank. Which reminds me my fridge could do with a good clean out before shopping on Tuesday. May do it today, may not.....................................................................Shan't do it tomorrow so it may not get done at all. :-0
Ann has Gordon had a word with the hospital about FIL yet? They should really watch people with dementure as they can't remember if they have eaten or not. Same with the cups of tea given to them. There reallyshould be more care given to patients like FIL.

Yes Anne, OH just loads the fire up with logs before we go to bed, shuts it right down, and opens it up in the morning and away it goes!! He takes ash out about twice a week, and that's it!!! We only burn logs, as it's not geared for burning fossil fuel. Dank and dismal here, cold and miserable. Had a busy morning, so this afternoon we shall take it easy!! Pork chops for supper, the rest of the home grown brussels, and mashed potatoes.
