Good morning David and everyone
David your pain could be sciatica or a trapped nerve but if you have had it for a while it's worth asking your doctor about it.
I vaguely remember telefusion I think we had it in the 1960's when first married until we moved to Bracknell.
My brother used to have the Eagle comic and there was The Girl magazine as well. I used to have the School Friend as I was too old for comics when the Girl came out..
I have to get Becky up earlier this morning [about 10] as Paul is coming to take her to buy a new school coat which has to be black with no logo's on, rather him than me as she is a fussy little madam when it comes to clothes, buying her shoes is a complete nightmare. He buys all the clothes for the two of them.
I hope everyone has a trouble free day today, It is very cold and grey here at the moment.

Bitterly cold and frosty here. Thank you Anne, I had to ask. Thought it might be psoriasis or some thing. Just hope it's not the start of a bed sore. Black coat for your daughter, that will attract all the marks (I hope not) What's wrong with a practical anorak?

Morning my little rain drops, Evening Kim,
Horrible wet morning here, rain and wind. What you got Jane ??
It's funny how cats wobble along with a large carch in their mouths. Our old "STAMP" use to carch rabbits when we lived at Gayton.
Mel, I don't like to mention it. BUT pastry, cakes and cream play me up terribly. I have learnt if I don't want indigeston, then DON'T eat them. It's worth a try for you.
Not a bad night last night apart from some weird dreams, that I can't remember this morning. I was awake at 6.00 and laid back thinking for a couple of hours, I would have liked the radio on, but that would have caused ructions !!!!
My in - laws always bought my childrens winter coats. As we did with Lewis. He was quite happy with what we chose. We also bought him his first shoes and football boots. The boots are wrapped up in a bag in the garage, I was going to get them SILVERED and give them to him. Not knowing where to go to get that done and the cost I have never bothered. Might be worth looking into for his 18th in September.
I can see all the old comics are coming to the fore. Never had them as a clild, but looked at them at friends houses Ah ;-) ;-) ;-)
Bacon Sarnie time, then shower.

I remember having a comic from a very early age, I started with 'Chicks Own'(!) Tiny Tots, 'Rainbow' and finally 'Girl' . Later on I had a magazine called ?The Young Elizabethan'. After that, I bought my own!!! OH had Eagle and Boys Own! I remember Redifusion. My parents always preferred BBC! but I remember watching 'No Hiding Place, and Emergency Ward 10! I don't remember many radio programmes except 'Listen with Mother', Take it from here, and Round the Horn. I can remember singing round the piano, with my mother playing. I can also remember the two of us singing and playing duets, and getting the giggles. My S-Father was a very tolerant man!! I can remember my mother reading to me when I as quite big! We started when I was very small with Conrad Cluckerty etc, made our way through Beatrice Potter etc and ended several years later with Dickens etc! Happy days of long ago! Mucky old day here. We're off out to the Garden Centre to look at seed potatoes!! Should be fascinating!!!!!!

Morning all,
Weather wise we seem to have the same as you Frank. Wet and dull but not too windy.
I had a good sleep in this morning and got up at narly 11am. I must have needed it.
Mum always bought my sons shoes up till quite an age when he got more into fashion but that was the Johnny Rotten era so we had white socks and straps with metal on the boots and all black clothes.
Back to comics I appeared in Swift when young as a Busy Bee for the PDSA. I had The Dandy, The Topper, the Beano, The Bunty from the first issue when you got a ladybird pin as a free gift, then later on I had the Mirabelle. Having no brothers or sister I think I did quite well. I would also have the annuals at Christmas for Dandy and Beano.

Shock time for Frankie Boy. !!! I have been on google looking for prices for silvering childrens shoes. Baby shoes (TINY) start at about £130.00 EACH, so gawd knows what a pair of size 11 football boot would cost. I think I will just give them to him as they are.
Ros has chopped up leeks and Pork and put them on to cook, while she pops in toTown for something she needs (hearing aid batteries) I knew I would remember !!! So I am on cooker watch. ;-) ;-) She will make the Leek pie when she gets back. (MY DAY OFF)
I am still reading Martina Cole's "The Business" three parts through it now, will be glad to finish it. So much violence and swearing, it's a wonder she got it printed.
Stay dry girls if yu are having to go out. Not nice out there !!!

Paul has just got back with Becky, coat bought for £50.00 marked down from a £100.00 so a bargain, it has a removablel fleece so should last a while.
I also read all the Dickens books as we had them with many others at home, my favourite author when I was younger was Enid Blyton, I also used the local library every week, I always had my head in a book not like my two granddaughters
I have never read any Martina Cole's books, one of my favourites is Philippa Gregory or Erica James for a light read but there are many others that I enjoy.

I was thinking of seeing if the library do any of the Dickens books on spoken words. I must have a look online and see if they do. I have never read any of the Dickens books. I read one once on I think It was called Magwitch that was supposed to be what happened to the man who backed that boy in one of Dickens books. Was it Great Expectations? The one where he was backed by a criminal.

Raining sideways here now. For boys there was the s Hotspur and the Wizard in addition to the Eagle. Never bought them, read them while delivering them. Had the district nurse here earlier assessing needs. Going to get me a frame for around the WC and a height adjuster. He was very helpful. They must have been happy times, a duet on the piano while singing. Ellen's just come back from the Doctor smiling. Lost over a stone in weight. It's those new knees, she's never still. Do you remember Rupert Bear? he's still in the newspapers lol

I used to read a lot when I was younger and loved Enid Blyton too Anne. The last few years I've read some of Philippa Gregory's books as well. I love history and watched some programmes on TV covering the "War of the roses" then got Philippa's books about it. I still have a few more to read which I haven't got round to yet.
I've never read any of Charles Dickens books I'm sad to say, but have watched films based on some of them. I think Dickensian is brilliant, the way they have used lots of the characters from different books and put them all together.....very clever me thinks :-D :-D
You'll have to let us know how far the builders have got Ann, when you peep around the fence LOL, be careful it's not to muddy in all this rain, we wouldn't want you to slip and hurt yourself. Pleased to hear FIL is feeling a little better, although not eating and drinking for himself doesn't sound good. At least the drip is helping.
That's a lot of money Frank to sort out Lewis's boots, I don't blame you for not having it done. Maybe he could do it himself with the money he is saving on buying his new car. Has he got his car yet? I hope he passes his test so he can drive it.
I've woken up with flu and a really bad sore throat, so I guess it wasn't a 24 hour bug I had the other day. I'm aching all over so I might have a sleep this afternoon as that normally helps when I feel like this.
The weather here is rain, rain, and more rain. Little Roses came to the back door for her nuts and looked like a drowned rat......bless her. I noticed her earlier eating something, probably more nuts, on the fence, so I think next door has put some out for her too. She certainly knows where to get fed. I had to laugh as earlier she was sitting underneath my plant inside the pot to shelter from the rain....clever little thing isn't she?
Going to get a warm drink now, see if that helps me feel better. I'm dosed up with all sorts, but it's not making much difference. I guess I'll just have to put up with it and wait for it to pass. Hope that isn't to long :-( :-(

Sorry David didn't see your post there. That's good news about the frame for the WC and the height adjuster, it's just what you needed :-) :-). Good news about Ellen losing all that weight, so long as she doesn't lose to much to quickly as that won't be good for her.
Yes I remember Rupert bear :-) :-) I used to watch him as a child, but didn't know he was still in the newspapers.

Gill, like you, I love history, I did that and English literature for A'level, and got a reasonable grade for both. Yes Mel, Magwitch was from Great Expectations, and frightening he was too when Pip was a little boy. I loved Enid Blyton, and like you Anne I belonged to the library also Boots library (anyone remember that?) and constantly had my head in a book!!! These days nearly all the books I read are historical, mainly non fiction., but not all! Glad your visit from the Nurse went well David, I think the more aids you can have the better. We got all our seeds, plus the potatoes, so we are ready to get the garden underway just as soon as the weather allows! Hope you're feeling more comfortable Gill. Stay in the warm and take paracetamol and you should feel better soon.

Afternoon all ,
Well we're lucky here we have beautiful sun shine ,i have hung washing out as there is a little wind so hopefully they will get dry ,i think we should get the rain later in the day. We don't have any heating on ,the sun coming through the glass in the conservatory is so warm , i expect we will lit the fire later as the temp soon drops.
Went and did a little shopping and we were going to stop and get the car washed but the queue of cars waiting put us off so that will get done another day .
Katie was as good as gold yesterday she is such a dear little girl ,she's usually not much of an eater but i think she made up for it yesterday . Chelsea should be coming for the day on Friday but it depends if she behaves herself ,she seems to be the one who has to upset the others when they are doing things ,but when she comes here she's as good as gold . When Katie came yesterday we stated reading The Folk of The Faraway Tree (Enid Blyton) well i read a little but she got a bit bored as there was not many pictures in the book and she likes to look at the pictures as i read ,she's only six so i think she needs to be just a little older for the books.
That was a price just for little shoes to be silvered Frank , i bet it would be a couple of hundred to do just one football boot that size !!
Gill, hope you soon feel better ,have a good rest and dose yourself up that's all you can do really .
Anne , that was a bargain on the coat and two coats in one really with the removable fleece and as you say it should last her a while .
David thats good your getting some aids to help you , is the height adjuster for your chair or bed ? Ellen has done very well losing a stone .

I read all the Just William books too David, Jennings, as well, Swallows and Amazons, and lots more. My younger maternal Uncle had all these books when he was a boy and they were passed onto me. Anyone remember Chums Annual? It was a boys book printed before the war. I had about four of these.that had belonged to my uncle

Afternoon all, Still a very wet afternoon and almost dark (lights on around lounge). I haven't put my head outdoors today. Ros said it's horrible !!!
No Lewis hasn't got the car yet, but it's waiting for him when he pays for it. He tells me it's a HONDA JAZZ 1.4 . it has a new gear box and tyres. I'm pleased that his dad has found it through a friend. I won't be held responsible if it goes wrong ;-) ;-)
I was never a reader as a child, we never had books in the house. The only books I read were what we had at school, and they were not that interesting
Ros has bought me a new case on wheels, it goes anyway you push it. She has decided she wants one too. So I have to Cabin bags to get rid of. They have only been used half a dozen times. So why she needs to change them I don't know. They have wheels and extended handle, so not much different to the new one.
Gill, Hot toddy for you my girl. and a bit of VIC rubbed into the soles of your feet.
Sunshine, What a lucky person you are Mandy. The forfasy is rain, sleet and snow, so look out.

Hello again and thank you all. Ellen says the Doctor told her she had lost one stone eight pounds, she's over the moon. She is so much more active since her double knee replacements, before them she was in pain.. The height increaser fits directly on top of the WC, the frame fits either side of the WC so that you can support yourself lowering yourself on to the WC and push yourself up when you're finished. It would be horrendous if I were to break the already damaged leg, or the good (?) leg trying to get up. :-0 :-\ :-S
