Annx, hello. The height adjuster is to raise the height of the WC so that it's easier and safer to lower bum on to. This palaver about a replacement car drags on. To make sure all was perfectly legal with DVLA I had phoned their medical centre that deals with licenses for people with problems. (ADMITTEDLY SHOULD DONE IT MUCH SOONER< LOOKS BETTER) Anyway, after explaining at length the nature of the problem I received from them today a letter and an eight page detailed questionnaire. Wants to know the who, what where, when why, how including hospital name, consultant's name medical record number, GP's name, number, e-mail medications etc and also my driver's licence. The latter dismayed me !! so I phoned DVLA up and asked why. A man said they will look at all my medical records and the tea leaves and stuff. If all is well I will in about 6-8 weeks get a new license with a new category on it for automatic transmission cars only. <3

Why it dismayed is because it's not long since I unsuccessfully attempted to sue them for medical negligence

What a set to David, When you think of all the people who are on the road that shouldn't be. You try to do the right thing and end up with all this form filling. Do you have a current licence ???
Yes Mandy, Pat hasn't been here lately. I bet she's spending all her spare time walking the dgs, and spending time in that sea front "PUB" Only joking Pat. What are you upto ???
There's hardly a breeze out side now. So I expect the frost will come down tonight. The sun is still very bright in the Western Sky.
I did laught last night I caught the last five minutes of "CORRIE" One woman was saying to abother " GET OF OF TOWN" this place ain't big enough for both of us. Or words to that effect. I can't believe that Ros watches it. :-D :-D :-D
Nice easy meal this evening. I am having Tesco Finest FISH PIE and Ros a lasagne.
How did our Jane get on this afternoon, no accidents I hope <3 <3 <3

I'm not surprised David, I know that the DVLA is very hot over medical disclosures. It's obligatory to inform them of any change in any medical situation that might affect your driving if you want to continue on the road. If you don't it renders your present license null and void which then makes driving an offense. Fish for supper tonight! :-D

Evening All I have a thumping headache so this will be a quickish post. The play was very good.I really wasn't sure if I would like it but was glued. The seats once again had very little leg room and a bit too close to the next person to be comfortable.I moved seats in the interval and sat where the Usherette sits.Much more space but slightly restricted view. This is the problem with 'old' theatres. It is just a bit squashed. Lunch was not great. We had to wait forever for our meal and my Pizza was a bit overdone with some burnt bits.Chris said his was fine.It was very busy and with just the one chef .I think everyone turned up at the same time which didn't help matters lol
We got home at 5.45 and Fitz was sitting outside waiting for us as he and Chris were going to a meeting at the council offices about the Massive new development .(not the one behind us)....He has just got in and says it all kicks off next month with the start of a new road coming through one of the fields from Junction 10 off the A14(just up the road from us on Barton Rd )Your old rd Frank !.
Oh Ann,your poor FIL really sounds like he is fading now.I just hope he doesn't get this Swine Flu.That would be too unfair..I did see on the news about wards being shut at the hospital..I imagine the Dr wants to see OH to discuss the care now for FIL.
I think I might just have a Banana before I go to bed.If I have nothing I will be awake with a rumbling tum in the night.

FIL now has internal bleeding, possibly an ulcer, as well as everything else but the doc says he is stable at the moment, although at risk of another heart attack in the next few weeks. He wanted to know whether OH wanted him to go back to the home or go into hospital in future as they can do no procedures due to his frailty. and age. The home would seem best as he knows the people.
That's good you are getting some help and aids David.
Don't be put off by the forms as they are a FORMALITY for anyone in your situation with an injury and it doesn't mean they won't let you keep your licence. Remember they have to consider everyone else's safety on the road when they make a decision about someone continuing to drive. Remember also that some individuals would lie through their teeth just so they could keep their licence. Would you want to make a decision about someone being safe to drive with an injury without getting some written information and checking the facts first? Just get them filled in and sent off!! :-)
Jane, that's what I hate about old theatres too, the crampedness!! Also the heat!!!! Glad you enjoyed the play though. It's half term here, so a lot of places to eat are full of children. Hope your headache is soon gone.
thought all that work you put in with Cas when she was little would pay dividends Liz. ;-) She's a girl to be proud of now and a credit to you!

Jane where on earth are they going to put a junction on Barton Road, I would think it's got to be either towards the Church or Burton Latimer. But no doubt you will tell me when you know more.
Well with all the channel hopping I can't find anything I want to watch. There was a good programme on BBC2 about Liverpool at 7.30 pm.
The fish pie hasn't agreed with me, It's been coming up all evening. I have had my Gavistone, so hope it will settle.
I sent an email to Lewis earlier but it has come up that it is not a valid address.Perhaps he's given up on the emails. I will get Ros to ring when she gets in from Choir practise.
She pulled out of the drive at 7.05 pipped her horn and waited almost 10 minutes for silly Val to come out and get in the car.
I have just noticed that Ros has left the sliding door open between the lounge and the conservatory, no wonder my shoulders were cold, it's right behind me !!!
I think I will sit and finish my book, as T.V. is rubbish on all stations.

Ann,the best place for FIL is back at the home .He will have his own room and far better care than being in hospital. From what you say it doesn't sound as though he has much longer. It is very sad,but it does seem that he will continue to go downhill now :-(...How is Gordon?
Frank the new road will be off the big roundabout at the end of Barton Rd where it joins the A14.Through the field that backs on to the A14.The road will come through that field and come out on Cranford road just a bit further up from our house !! Also on Warkton Lane there will be a road off there going down through the fields from that end.It is going to be hell !! Have you made a little mistake in Lewis's email address(which is why it is coming up as invalid?
Ann for once I wasn't hot in the theatre. It was just the right temperature :-D.I had a look up at the ceiling and there are no Chandeliers now !!!!!! It was more than one crystal that fell on me before. It was like a cluster that fell.Bit like a few hail stones LOL
My headache has gone :-D..I think it might have been caused by a bit of a argy bargy with Chris earlier :-S
David ,get those forms filled in and sent off PDQ and then before you know it you might have your new set of wheels :-D :-D.You will have a new lease of life :-D :-D

I hav'nt seen Jericho yet or Dickensian. I am behind with Dickensian by about three episodes as I save it till theres nothing else I want to watch.
Ann FIL must be better off in the home than in hospital as Jane said. He will get better care at the home than the hospital as they keep their eyes on vunerable inmates more. I hope Gordon is ok. Please give him my regards and tell him we are all thinking of the pair of you at this unsettleing time.
So the play was good then Jane even though the seats were a bit uncomfortable. Glad you enjoyed it.

Those forms are filled in. All questions correctly answered It is difficult not to feel a bit of bias in my own favour in situations like this, but there is no room for it amid the multitude of questions It will be in the pillar box this morning.

Morning David and All, Evening Kim,
Another nice clear sunny morning here. Ros is off to the hairdressers for 11.30 am (A NEW ONE) she isn't getting on very well with the present one, she just doesn't do her hair as she likes it, So we will see what she thnks of the new one later.
I found a programme on ITV 3 at 9.00 pm about the Royal appointments for all the Royals Cloths, Hats, Shoes, Food etc. Very interesting. Ros came in half way through from Choir practice.
Another funny old night. Woke at 4.00 am for the loo. Then clock watched till 6.30. dropped off until 8.00 and laid waiting for a COT. BUT Ros thought I was still asleep !!!
Jane, I am completely lost when you talk about Barton these days, I didn't know about roundabouts etc. I can just imagine what it will be like "HELL" You will be surrounded by houses and roads.
Lewis's email is correct. He may have stopped using it. I see him on FB now and then..
Ann, It does sound that FIL is drifting away. God Bless Him. It will be a blessing if he can justslip away in his sleep, and no nothing about his condition. Thinking of you both with love <3 <3
Jericho is something I have never watched. Ros likes it, I recorded it for her, she will watch that one night if I go to the pub. Which reminds me I haven't been out since last Saturday. This weekend is the CUP so will watch the Match Saturday lunchtime, and my WEST HAM on Sunday at 2.00 pm. Will still be back to cook dinner for around 6.00 ;-) ;-)
After my shower and shave, I have a couple of little jobs I need to do. Change two light bulbs, mend a little garden thing for Ros and check the extractor in the cooker hood. Most requiring the use of steps. So must hold on tight. !!!!

Morning all,
Sun and then no sun here today. When I LOOKED OUT THE WINDOW LAST NIGHT THERE WAS FROST ON THE CARS ROOves then a little later I heard rain, looked out and yes it was rain which washed all the frost off the car rooves. Sorry for shouting but I am not redoing it now.
Thought it was Saturday when I woke up. Wondered where the week had gone again?? but I still have a day before I have to go up the shop.
Frank you be careful if you're using steps because we all know your record with a pair of steps...................MIND YOURSELF and yes I did shout that incase you did'nt hear me. God bless.

All safe and sound thanks. I waited until Ros came back from the hairdressers. She wanted to do the bulbs, and I flew off the handle "if you don't let me do it, how can I be of any use" That did it, she stormed off, but came back and held the steps for me.
I also fixed the extractor, the force of the motor blows the tube off the fan thingy, so I have used that GAFFA tape to fix it in postion.
Coyuldn't find the new drill bits I bought a few weeks ago. Put them somewhere safe again !!!
No one around today apart from you and me Mel, Yes the weeks do seem to fly by don't they. ?? is it an age thing ??
The sun dissapeared here about lunchtime and has been cloudy since, and the wind is getting up. So not looking promising. Looks like we will get rain sooner than later.
My Mower finishes soon, there is another bidder. So will leave it to the last minute and go in HEAVY. Then he/she will have to play catch up. Wish me liuck.

Afternoon All Well after a sunny day it is now raining and dark and cold.I just nipped out to top the window feeder up and it is freezing.I did manage to get all the bathand toilet mats almost dry outside today.I have just finished them off in the drier.
I will keep my fingers crossed Frank and hope you get the mower. That was a good boy waiting for Ros before going up the ladder.Shame you lost your rag :-| :-|.Hope all is calm again :-D
I think Ros is brave trying a new hairdresser.I am so used to having Nigel to cut my hair I would be very nervous is someone else had to do it.
I've tried a new meal today.Beef Goulash .It looks good so I am hoping it will go down well.James will be eating first tonight as he is going to Jess again for the weekend. He better say it is good otherwise I can see Chris turning his nose up :-S
So Davids forms will be in the post now :-D..Hope it won't be long now David before you are on the road once more :-D
My Sister's MIL has been in hospital up in Leeds for a week, and poor Larry has been there since Sunday. He is staying at her warden controlled place.I think he so fed up now.He hasn't even got a car as he took the train there. The plan was to send his Mum home today but up until yesterday she was being barrier nursed as they thought she might have the bug CDif .She has had very bad diarrhoea .I just hope if she does go home that things have been set in place for people to go in to her to do meals etc. Larry will have to go home by Monday at the latest as Matthew is coming back from his travels and they are picking him up at Heathrow and have booked a hotel near the airport for a night. I think his Mum is the same age as Ann's FIL...It is difficult with Larry being an only child and living so far away.I can see him having to do this trip far more often now sadly. His Mum is not a very easy lady to deal with and can be quite unpleasant at times. My Sister can't stand her.And that must mean something as Janice is not one for disliking many people at all.I think a big thing is that Larrys Mum has never accepted the fact that Larry got divorced and remarried .She is a very strict Catholic . I remember years ago after Janice and Larry married they went to stay with Larry's parents and his Mum had put a photo of Larry and his first wife right next to their bed !!!!...
So still no Gill. I do hope she isn't any worse. <3
Ann,we need to sort out a day in April for our yearly get together with Fitz. His first Grandchild is due mid April so maybe the end of the first week or so might be good.Just let me know a good day for you and I will let Fitz know :-D
Frank you will have to come over one day and have a look around Barton.I will give you a tour :-D

Afternoon All,
Well done David in getting the forms filled and returned!! :-) It's a step forward to getting some freedom back!! I expect it may be a while before you get an answer if they need to contact the hospital at all, but then again most organisations have targets to meet for answering queries nowadays.
Thanks for all your kind thoughts about FIL. We;ve said that too Frank, that it would be best if he drifted off in his sleep before things get worse. OH is coping well and saw him today and unbelievably he'd really picked up and was being a pain to the nurses as he keeps trying to get out of bed!! We can see why he keeps falling in the home. He thinks he is fine in mind and body, but when the physio came he'd no strength to stand. He said he just needed to rest first and start doing exercise to strengthen his legs! If only!! OH said his spirit is amazing, but he is skin and bone now. He thought he was hallucinating today as he seemed to be talking to someone next to OH, thinking it was his wife or mother.......he used to call both 'mum' so it's hard to say. I suppose it's part of the dementia. They are hoping to discharge him to the home on Monday. OH will be glad to not have to scale the stairs to the 5th floor of the hospital each visit! He hates lifts and said he had to get his breath back at the top the first time! I told him I would have needed oxygen!!
Today I decided to take him to the big retail store at Grantham as I'd seen a jacket there I thought he'd like for his birthday next month. As the carvery that had been closed gave us 4 booklets of money off coupons yesterday, we went there for brekkie first. I swap items so I don't have the sausage, but for a breakfast of egg, sausage, 2 bacon, tomato, beans, black pudding, 3 hash browns, toast and a big pot of tea it only cost £3.95 for both of us. :-) It's a nice drive through the vale of Belvoir and it wasn't as busy there as we expected. He liked the jacket but there wasn't one left in his size, but he found another he really liked so we got that. It's a kind of dark bluey grey background with fine black horizontal and vertical lines He also found a book he'd wanted for his birthday that was a bargain price so we got that too. It's a thick, historical volume about the Russian Romanov family, right up his street. I got a new road map as mine is so out of date, a book on drawing and a 60s CD with some of my favourites on!
We had a look at the 'building site' when we got back and it looks like the builder has nearly got a digger or lorry stuck in the mud as there are some very deep tyre furrows filled with water. It looks as if they have mostly been removing soil and taking it away and digging some channels for drains. It is a surveillance camera next door.
Jane I was thinking about our get together the other day and also about Fitz's grandchild being due soon! Is he quite excited? The week starting 4th April is good for me, any day except Friday. The following week might be a bit close to the birth perhaps but is also ok for me. Let me know what will suit the both of you. I look forward to seeing you both and meeting up will make me sort out those other bits of info on Fitz's family I said I would let you both have!! He will be able to file it away in his newly organised folders won't he!! :-)
Yes, I hope Gill is ok and not any worse.
