Morning all

Thanks everyone for your get well wishes. I'm starting to feel a little better now. The aches have finally gone but I've still got a really bad sore throat and an irritating cough which is keeping me awake at night, so I've not had a lot of sleep, I've also not been able to swallow properly so haven't eaten or drank very well either. Hopefully it won't last to much longer. The last time I felt like this was when I had a mild dose of Swine Flu a few years ago, although I did feel slightly worse with that. I don't think it's swine flu this time, just normal flu, still not very nice though.

The Estate agent rang yesterday for a couple to do a second viewing. I'm in no fit state to do it this weekend, which is what they wanted, so have said I'll do one day next week, probably Friday. It's the couple where the woman wanted this place and her husband wanted next door but one. Last I heard they'd put an offer on the other one, so maybe the survey came back bad and now they want to go for this one instead. I'm sure we'll find out next week.

I've only just started reading the posts so will go and carry on reading them. Thanks LIz for letting me know about Roots Chat. I actually got a message today on Genes with the names of the people I needed, well, two out of the three, so now I'm waiting to hear back from her with the possible third name. If she can't find it I'll try Roots chat. It's nice to have their names instead of having them down as Unknown.

Going to get some cough medicine now and a drink, then catch up with the rest of the posts.

What a sad story Jane about the little girl. I'm sure she remembers the good times she had with you and will treasure those times for the rest of her life.

Sorry to hear about FIL Ann. I think it is best for him to go back to the home where he knows people and will be looked after better.

You got a bargain with your lawn mower Frank. All you need is the nice weather now so you can cut your lawns. Ours could do with a cut but it's far to wet at the moment. We had so much rain yesterday I thought our garden was going to flood. Luckily it didn't and most of the water has drained away now, but like I said, far to wet to cut at the moment.

I noticed the picture Anne and wondered if it was Timmy, he was a lovely looking cat wasn't he? All our cats were black and white, apart from the middle one who was just black. She was a character and called Jez. When we went to the rescue home to choose a cat, she actually chose us, well my OH, she was one for the men was our Jez, but like I said such a character :-) :-) I do miss her. We don't have any pets anymore, although I have been thinking of maybe getting another cat at some point.

Hope you manage to sort out your licence David, then you can get a car and go out and about......they'll be no stopping you then ;-)

It sounds like you had a great time with Chelsea, Mandy, pity about the flap jacks but it all ended well with the cross stitching.

How nice to see the deer in your garden again Mel. Sandra can't get over it, all she's ever seen is the neighbours pets, the squirrels and birds.

I'm going to try a soft boiled egg now, see if I can swallow that. I'm so hungry with not being able to eat properly. I really must try to eat something.
See you all later.

Morning Gill morning all ,

Dull here again with a little drizzle in the air ,still windy too.

Gill glad your feeling a little better , you should try and eat a little if you can ,a nice boiled egg should go down easily and have plenty of fluids too that should help.
Are OH and Sandra ok ?
I see that Ancestry has been free to search again this weekend ,i think it finishes today if you need you search for some thing for your tree .

Oh it's brightened up a bit now don't think we're going out today any where ,we'll just have a lazy day ,no roast tonight we're having pizza with a little salad .

Jane ,i don't think those fashions are for me :-D i bet they are a price too .

Coffee time now BBL

Morning all,

Nice to know how Gill is and you take it easy and stop rushing about doind things, do you hear? Wish I could send you some of my lovely eggs as they would go down a real treat.

No change in the weather here its just wet and very windy and not a glimpse of sun at all.

Hope FIL is as well as can be expected Ann and I think he would be much better off back in the home where they can look after him more than in the hospital.

Nothing planned for today just to stay warm and dry.

Where's our Liz???? hope everything is ok there as we hav'nt heard from her for a couple of days.

Anne

Anne Report 21 Feb 2016 11:29

Good Morning All

I'm pleased to hear you are feeling a little better Gill, it's not nice when having a sore throat and feeling hungry. Is Sandra cooking for you today? You must look after yourself as flu can take a long time to go . I had Asian flu when I was 18 and that was the worse that I have had.

Sunday roast as usual for us, I have the beef cooking slowly in the oven, I don't think Paul is working today so he and Becky usually arrive about 1pm Abbie as far as I know will be spending the day with Aiden.

It's a lot brighter here today but still very windy, Richard is getting ready to take Amy for her walk.

Jane Report 21 Feb 2016 13:14

Afternoon All
What a breezy day it is !!! Lots of cloud whizzing along. The sub is up there somewhere but it doesn't look like it is going to be out much.It just keeps peeping ttrough and then disappearing again.

Gill I am glad you are feeling a bit better at last.Just make sure you don't try and run before you can walk :-D..That is interesting about the buyers coming back to you again.Something must be wrong next door if they put an offer in and have now pulled out.

Well ,I could bl**** well scream !!!!!!!!!!!!.Last night I noticed a brown stain on the ceiling in the lounge...............yes you have probably quessed what I am going to say
ANOTHER LEAK :-S :-S
We thought it might be the toilet again ,but Chris pulled back the carpet and all was dry so he took the carpet back from the sink and it is soaking. The stain has spread too since last night .But the weird thing is we can't see really where the water is coming from. The Plumbing People can't come out today so will be here tomorrow between 12 and 6............Honestly I just couldn't make this up could I.

I have the Pork Joint in cooking now nd it is just beginning to smell good.I've peeled the potatoes and veg.So nothing more to do now until latere this afternoon.
I will go and have a bit of a clean behind the sink upstairs as there is rather a lot of fluff and dust. What an exciting job for a Sunday!.
James wil not be amused when he gets home later. He will have to use our ensuite sink for a shave and teeth.

Anne you are lucky to have Richard at home to share Amys walks with you.Does he do the weekend ones and you do weekdays?

Gawd Chris has somehow managed to get all of his fingers covered in Ball point ink.He has had to look up on google to see how to get it off and nothing was doing the trick....Nailvarnish Remover was the answer..I bet he has used all I have :-S
He just said he hasn't had a good day so far what with searchng for the leak and then the leaky ink.

Gill I have just sent a pic that Sandra will like of the Squirrel in the Window Feeder earlier.

Mandy ,not my kind of fashion either. But Hannah said she had a great time and saw lots. Now I don't know if lots means lots of fashion or if she saw lots of famous people. It looked a great atmosphere.

My Sister is picking her OH up about now from the station after his week away up in Leeds. His Mum is now back home from hospital and hopefully she will be 'good' at allowing carers to come in to do meals and check on her.You never know with her.
Janice said Larry ahs been living on Ready Meals and F&Cs fr the past week so she is doing a massive Roast Beef Dinner :-D

I meant to say I had a message this morning from Mark (our friend in Washington) he his wife and 3 month old baby Freya are back in the UK and want to come and see us on Friday :-D :-D How exciting :-D
I will have to go and buy a little something for Baby :-D..I can't wait to see them.Mark is Rachels brother.Rachel the one who kicked off big time here ( I know most of you will remember that) Their Mum was my best friend who sadly died suddenly back in 2,000 when we became like surrogate parents to them.
Mark works for the Foriegn Office in WashingtonDC.I think he still has 2 years left from a 4 yr appointment there.

Frank Report 21 Feb 2016 13:25

Afternoon all,

Been very lazy so far today. Was up about 7.00 and read my book. Tony bought the paper about 9.00 and I sat and read that almost from cover to cover.

Just out of the shower, still in dressing gown ;-) ;-) I will get dressed after posting this.

I was going to the pub to watch West Ham, but it's on BT Sport, so decided to watch it at home. Ros will be busy with her patchwork etc. When the match is over I am taking us out to either a Carvery or another place that is open all day and does Sunday Lunches.

Jane, believe or not, but there were so many children like that little girl you had to stay. They lived in the deep East End and they only saw the brickwalls of the patch of concrete they called a YARD. My gran lived in Canning Town, and I saw it like that whenever we visited. Then of course after the bombing of the docks, they played on the bombed sites. Considering we were only abouyt 10/13 miles from it all, we were in paradise. Mel will know how lucky we were. As she wasn't far from my childhood home.
Glad you are feeling a bit better Gill. You must eat or you will fade away. There's not much of you now
<3 <3

The wind had certainly got up here, You can hear it blowing through the extractors in the kitched and bathroom.

I forgot Anne how close you are to the Thames and all those Wonderfull Properties along the riverside. Haven't been there for years and years !!!

Mandy, We sat this morning watching James Martin making all these different things. You would need a kitchen the size of my bungalow to house all the ingredients he has for cooking. Plus I don't think I could be bothered to be in the kitchen all that time to try these things out.

K.O is in half an hour so I had better get dressed and be ready to go out on the final Whistle.

See you tonight.

Gillx Report 21 Feb 2016 14:12

Sorry to hear about your leak Jane. I've PM'd you.

I noticed the email Jane but the picture wasn't there, only what you wrote :-S :-S :-(
That's nice to meet up with Mark and his little family and to see the new baby too, how lovely.

I've not long woken up, I can't believe how much I'm sleeping lately, mind you they say sleep is the best medicine. I'm drinking plenty at the moment as it seems to be the only thing to stop me coughing so much. The more I cough the worse my throat feels and that triggers off the ear ache. I'll be glad when I feel normal again. I feel like a zombie at the moment.

I would of loved some of your eggs Mel, they would of been so much tastier than the ones we get from the local supermarket.

OH has started with this bug now, but thankfully Sandra is ok. We're not having our chicken today, OH is off work tomorrow so Sandra is doing it then. I can't eat much and I don't want it to go to waste as Sandra couldn't eat a whole chicken on her own, so this way OH can have some too. I've got some individual trifles which are a god send, they are so smooth on my throat and nice and cool. I've managed some mash potato and have had some Angel Delight. Strange combination but all soft foods that I can just about manage to swallow, not all together at the same time though LOL. But that's been my diet for the last few days, oh and some soup as well.

I hope your team wins today Frank, enjoy your meal out later, that'll be nice for you and Ros and no cooking for you today.....bonus.

It sounds like it's chaos at your close Ann, with the builders coming and going. I don't blame your neighbours for having camera's installed. The builders are cheeky though using people's drives to turn round in. At least if anything goes wrong your neighbours will have proof of any damage they may cause.

Thanks for letting me know about Ancestry Mandy, I might take a look later. I'm not doing much at the moment. Even though I'm starting to feel a bit better I want to make sure I'm fully recovered before I do any big jobs. I don't want to make myself ill again.

The sun has come out here, but the wind has picked up and it's still not that warm. Mind you if the rain keeps away then OH might be able to do the lawns in a few days if he feels up to it, then it'll look tidy for the second viewing we are hoping to do on Friday.

I'm hoping to plant the Cana seeds soon too. I've got the pot ready with the compost in, but then I got ill. I should be alright to sort them out in a day or two and will start them off in the living room where it's a bit warmer than the kitchen. Plus I think I read that they don't like direct sunlight, so the kitchen windowsill wouldn't of been the right place to put them anyway.

Going to get another drink now, then take a little look on Ancestry ;-) <3

Thanks Jane the email came through okay this time. Sandra was made up with it and now wants me to take some photo's of Rosie to send to everyone, I said I'd do it when I feel a bit better. It look like the squirrel has made himself comfy and is going to stay there until all the nuts have gone lol. I do love squirrels, although they're not everyone's cup of tea, but I think they are lovely and so does Sandra. We had five of them running around our garden chasing each other the other day, Sandra was so excited bless her.

Going to get a trifle now, Sandra has just had one, she loves her strawberry's, so I'd better get one before she eats them all ;-) ;-) I got a tub of cream to put over the top of mine as I'm not keen on strawberry's myself, Sandra doesn't like cream so at least I'll have that to myself LOL.

I am pleased your feeling a bit better today Gill. Wishing you a speedy recovery now so you can get back to the normal routine. <3 <3

Still very windy here and its nearly time to go and corn the chickens and get blown away again. There are 7 pheasents outside waiting for their corn too and none in their pot by the back door so I suppose I shall have to brave it and go out there.

O no Jane not another leak. Does this mean the ceiling will have to be painted again?

Jane

Jane Report 21 Feb 2016 16:07

I shooed the Squirrel away after he has 3 goes on the feeder Gill. Chris sias he saw Thomas try and chase it first thing this morning. It went under the hedge and then appeared on the top of next doors roof .It was faster than Thomas :-D

Yes Mel the ceiling will need a bit of painting :-S..I am just so sick of all these leaks .I just wonder what is the next one !!.

David, Mashed potato and gravy is a good idea for Gill to eat.Not sure about the turnip though a she will have to peel and cook that.Just the mash and Gravy can be done easily in a microwave :-D
I used to buy Smash years ago (before I was married) when I lived in shared flats/houses.But there was always 'that bit' that hadn't quite mixed properly ,so I always got a mouthful of dried potato :-|.It was horrible.

James has just arrived .I better warn him not to use the sink in the bathroom !!!!!!!

Sandra and I loved the video's of the hogs Mel, they came through just fine. There's a lot of light off your solar lights, or is that the camera? You could see who the boss was couldn't you? ;-) ;-)

Talking of names, my OH calls me titch, or tiny, can't think why LOL :-D :-D and Sandra is called Junior, because she was named after my sister, or SALT because of all her initials. She hates that one, so we don't call her that anymore, but she's okay with junior which her dad calls her sometimes.

Her initials didn't spelt out SALT until we adopted her when she was 8 years old. It was strange as I had to adopted her to, even though I'm her mum, because I'd married my OH, so when he wanted to adopt Sandra we both had to do it, then she became our little Salty :-D :-D

Mel nice video of the hogs i had a job to see the top one at first, it wasn't until he moved that i noticed him ,he was sat in the dish :-D

Oh dear me Jane not another leak !! i carn't believe one house could get so many leaks , do you think when they repair one bit of pipe work it moves the pipes and causes another bit of pipe to leak ?
How lovely to see baby Freya ,three months all ready it only seems a while ago you told us about her.

Oh i remember having some of that Smash !! yuk it was just like eating cardboard if it wasn't mixed well .
I think turnip is the only veg we don't really like ,we love swede especially if it's mashed with carrots and a little butter .

I'am off to have a shower now before Call the midwife comes on and then there's a new thriller on at nine ,a six parter called The Night Manager .

Still no Liz ,i hope all is well with them both .
