Afternoon All,
Poor Sandra getting a chest infection as well now. It's good she's getting some rest Gill and is managing to eat soft food. You sound brighter now so I hope she soon feels better. It sounds quite hopeful on the 'sale' front now, especially if people can see that they can alter things to just what they want. My fingers are still crossed for you! :-) I transplanted lots of plants and cuttings into pots before I moved here. I had quite a little nursery and I made several trips here with my car loaded with greenery!! lol.
Oh dear Mel, that's quick for your plate to have broken. Maybe you had already cracked them slightly on something else.........not been chewing nails like Frank have you? :-)
Your cakes sound very nice Mandy and I expect there will be pairs of beady eyes on them when the children arrive tomorrow!
Frank I loved the photo of Ros having a COT and natter with her friend!! Your lawn looks so good with it's stripes too, you must be glad to get that first cut done as it is always the worst. Ros has done a great job with the planting and must have been weighing up how many more things she could fit in as she's been and got more plants.
Sorry to hear you have been so unwell too Ruby. Two of the ladies in our beading class have had it and one had to go to the out of hours doctor like Gill. Her partner was abroad at the time so it was quite scary.
Anne I have never been to an Ice Hockey match yet, but OH is always saying he'll take me. I don't remind him though!
Jane, you rocking little Freya reminded me of soothing my brother and sister when they were babies. My sister was the worst as she was always screaming. I would be despatched to walk her around the village in the Silver Cross pram at times. The handle was level with my nose!! As soon as I stopped she would squawk and the bumpier it was the better she liked it!! Another trick was bouncing her on my knee and I remember doing it in time to 'Bumpity, bumpity, bumpity bump, here comes the galloping Major'. Anyone else remember that?
Yesterday we went for a walk along the canal about 3 miles away near to where I used to live. Harry's house (he died a few months ago) next door to my old house has had a new roof and windows fitted and looks very smart now. All the trees and shrubs at the front have been cut right down and it looks too open now. They could have left a few. :-S We saw a Heron along the canal and then crossed a bridge over it to cut through a path across a couple of big fields. I noticed something black and white in the distance and as we got closer we saw it was a tiny, wobbly calf standing next to one of those pronged farm implements. It was most odd as it was a huge field and no cows were to be seen? It was skinny and all legs and only looked a few days old if that to me and shouldn't have been on it's own. I wondered if it had only just been born when the cows were moved and was hidden in the grass. We couldn't see any farm buildings so carried on walking, taking note of the name of the footpath at the end. When we got home I rang the RSPCA and gave them directions and details. They thought it may have got left behind too and wanted to know it's sex which we didn't know. I thought afterwards how male calves are of little value to a farmer. Anyway, a little while later, one of their inspectors rang me to say they were on the case and that someone else had also phoned them about it. Hopefully it was a girl calf and that it had a happy ending as I doubt it would have lasted much longer without milk and a cold night coming, the poor little mite. It's mooings were pitiful.

Oh Jane, I'm so sorry to hear about Jess, how is she now? It's such a shame women can't walk any where without things like this happening......what's the world coming to? My thoughts are with her. She did the right thing reporting it to the police, lets hope they catch him so he can't do anything like this again to any other women.
I think you might of missed my earlier post, as all the questions you asked are answered in that one ;-) ;-)
So Thomas is up to his old tricks again......he's never going to change is he? LOL. You got to love him though <3
Sandra's still asleep, I wasn't sure weather to make her something to eat or not, but I don't like her going to bed with nothing, she's only had some strawberry Angel Delight all day so definitely not enough food. She needs to keep her strength up if she wants to get over this bug. Sleep is good, but so is food.

Sorry Ann I didn't see your post there.
I don't think Sandra has got a chest infection it seems to be her throat but if it doesn't get any better we'll get her to the doctors, we wouldn't want it to turn into anything worse.
How awful for the poor little calf, did the RSPCA find it? I really hope so and that it is okay now and somewhere safe. I hate it when animals are treated badly, although like you said it might of been a mistake, but surely they would of known if one of their cows had given birth, or maybe not :-S :-S :-S
I'm going to wake Sandra up now so she can wake up a bit before eating, then she can go back to bed and hopefully sleep right though until tomorrow. I will record all her programmes. She likes "The Voice" and "Ant and Dec" and although she may not feel like watching them now, I know she'd want to watch them when she feels up to it.

OMG Jane, poor Jess, she is lucky (if you can say that!) that it wasn't much worse. Yes you were right to insist she told the police. These things can get more violent and nasty with each encounter and the next victim might not be so lucky.

Oh Jane no poor Jess what an awful experience she did the right thing in reporting it so no one else has to go through it . Lets hope they can catch him ,he needs locking up !!
Ann i do Bumpity, bumpity, bumpity bump, here comes the galloping Major with the little ones :-D
Poor little calf lets hope they can find it and get it fed and in the warm or the night ,it was a good job you walked that way and saw it .
Gill i think sleep is the best medicine ,it does seem a shame to have to wake her ,does she like milk ? some flavoured milk shake might be nice ,she would have the goodness of the milk and being nice and cold might help her throat .

OMGoodnes Jane, poor Jess! You did absolutely the right thing to call the police. Quite honestly young women (any women!) really must not walk around on their own after dark, it simply isn't safe. Bit like victorian times!!! You should be able to, but in reality you can't! I hope she's feeling calmer now. Yes the sausages were delicious, and easy!!! We're now ensconced in front of the Telly, waiting for 7.30 when there's some historical prog we want to watch.

Gill I did miss your post.(sorry). I think you not need worry about Sandra eating anything much at the moment. The main thing is she drinks plenty.
OMG Ann..That poor little calf !.Thank goodness you rang the RSPCA and also someone else.I hope they have managed to get it now and it might be back with it's Mummy.I wouldn't have been able to sleep with worrying about it.When Cows and their babies were kept in the top field here.it was heartbreaking to hear the crying of the young calves when the Mothers had been taken away.Or it might have been the other way around.Whatever ,it was horrible to hear and I used to have to shut all my windows so I couldn't hear the distressed 'mooing'
Jess is fine Gill thanks.I think it shook her up though. The man grabbed her bottom and asked her to perform a 'you know what' on him !!!!..I would have wanted to chop the damn thing off or at least tried to give a good kick in that department.
Dinner almost ready here.I am blooming starving.

True story, many years ago my Mother was walking her dog on the Town Moor. Cattle were grazed on there. Mother heard loud cries of a beast in pain, She found a dairy cow on the grounf with 2 arrows in it !! She phoned the Police who attended. They shot it. Some one with a cross bow did it (the wounding of the cow) The same (censored) could have shot my Mother or her dog :-| :-| :-| :-| :-| :-S

There was a farmer near Consett built a house without planning permission. An enforcement officer with a warrant and a Policeman turned up and ordered him to pull it down. The farmer shot the enforcement officer...went to jail. The Town Moor is where Freemen graze their cattle. A relative of the jailed man shot the beast. How twisted is that?

Well I don't know what to say Jane, I know that bit of road is dark at the best of times, but what a thig to happen to poor Jess. I bet shw won't do that again. Bless her, there doesn't seem to be anything you can do with these Bast##ds. I would chop their tackle off with no trouble at all. How on earth could a farmer leave a calf on it's own like that. You can't tell me he din't know about it.
I had a fall out with the Chinese tonight. I rang in the order as usual. When we got home we had boiled rice instead of fried. It was cold and like a load of stoge. When I rang to complain he said "what do you want me to do about it" I said get your staff to supply the order I ordered.
On the way back from Towcester a car passed us with no rear N/S tail light. Then a police 4 x 4 passed us and got behing the car. He followed it up the A 43 and down into Blisworth and didn't bother to pull him over to warn him. When we got home I reported it to the police, they said I would be hearing from the local Seargent. Won't I give him a piece of my mind.
Hope you all have a god night. See you in the morning.

I'm pleased to hear Jess is feeling a bit better now Jane, but what a horrible thing to have to go through. Have they caught him yet? Sandra is drinking plenty of water and takes a bottle of water to bed with her. The reason I wanted her to eat is because she is prone to fainting if her sugar levels fall to low and on top of everything else I didn't want her to go through that as well.
Yes Sandra likes Milk Mandy, she has had another strawberry angel delight which is made from milk, but I didn't think about milk drinks so will get her strawberry ones as I know she'd like them and some chocolate ones too. She didn't eat the potato I made her for dinner as it hurt her throat, but she did eat the egg and mayo of which I made quite a lot, as I thought she might struggle with the potato and I wanted her to have a decent amount of food. I'd rather she left some on her plate than go to bed hungry. She's decided to watch "The Voice" which is still on, but I've still recorded it just incase she falls asleep on the sofa again. She likes the idea of the milk drinks and said to say thank you.
Have you heard if the RSPCA found the little calf yet Ann? I hope everything ended well for it.
Your mother and her dog were very lucky David. I don't know how people can harm animals, it's so cruel.

Sorry I've just noticed your post Frank, I don't think they were very nice on the phone with you, it was their fault so they should of fixed it for you. If you ordered Fried Rice then that is what you have paid for and should of got.
Fancy the police letting the driver go without pulling him over, isn't it an offence to drive with lights out on your car? The police clearly weren't doing their job properly if it is. You did the right thing to call in it yourself.

It's so tiny Ann, I can't stop thinking about it and really hope it's somewhere safe and sound now. The poor little calf.
We're about a month behind on Casualty Jane, every time OH is off work we keep saying we'll watch them but then we end up with more viewings. Hopefully we'll find some time to catch up with them soon.
Sandra's still awake and has just had the rest of her Angel Delight. She couldn't eat it all earlier so put it in the fridge for later. She's now watching Ant and Dec and is looking a bit brighter. She seems to be a bit up and down at the moment so I'm just keeping an eye on her. She's drinking plenty of water and still has her bottled water with her so that's good. I'll get her the milk drinks tomorrow.......she's looking forward to them.

What a dear little calf Ann and thanks for the pics. Please let us know if you hear anything from the RSPCA.
That must have really frightened poor Jess. I hope she feels a bit better now she is back home and safe.
That bitter wind seems to have dropped tonight. It was all quiet when I shut the chickens in and it seemed qutie eerie as there was a sound anywhere.
The sparrow hawk was sitting onthe bird feeder again today so I opened the window to frighten it off. We have also had a pair of Siskins on the sunflower kernal feeder. They are funny as they sit on the feeder one each side on the little perches and munch away to their hearts delight.

Meant to say those Nesquick milk shakes are a good thing to keep in the cupboard. I used to buy them for mum as she liked a milkshake. You can always put a bit of icecream inthem and give it a whisk which would make it nice and cold for Sandra's throat to sooth it if she sips it slowly.

Morning all and evening Kim,
Suns out so what more can I say!! :-D :-D :-D :-D :-D :-D :-D :-D :-D :-D :-D
We have HUGE fluffy white clouds and deep blue sky that they are hanging in.
Washing machine is pounding away and that will soon be finished and out on the line.
The only downer is there is an easterly breeze which is very very bitter it must be coming from Mandy...... I remember those bitter winds that we used to get when I lived in Suffolk. They would nearly cut your face open in winter.
Hope Jess is ok this morning after her nasty ordeal last night.
Hope little Sandra feels better this morning too. Love to both <3 <3 <3 <3 <3

Morning Mel and All
You are lucky Mel .No sign of the sun here this morning. In fact I can see some very fine spots of rain on the window. It is a cold one too. Jess is fine.I think she was just shaken up (understandably so)
I didn't plan on going out at all today. But I see I have bought Senior Cat food for Thomas.Luckily I haven't opened the box and still have the receipt so I should be able to do a straight swap.
I hope Sandra is feeling a little better this morning Gill. You also .I expect your antibiotics will be working now.
I think it is going to be a lazy day here :-D
