Anne Report 3 Mar 2016 18:42

Good evening all

Couldn't get on earlier as the internet was down

It's been really nice here today . Paul was on a late shift so he took me to the garden centre, I bought quite a lot of plants so hopefully I can plant them in tomorrow. We had lunch there, both had home made lasagne and salad which was very enjoyable. We also went to the crematorium as I had bought a planted pot of spring flowers.

I had the Sainsbury shopping delivered at just after 8am so now we have enough food for the coming week.

Hope you soon feel better Jane, An upset tummy isn't at all nice.

Ann it sounds as if your FIL has now given up, Peter was the same the day before he died I was trying to feed him mashed strawberries but he kept turning his head away, this was in late afternoon and he died early the next morning. The doctor had prescribed morphine but they didn't need to give him any.. Thinking of you both.at this sad time

Gill I hope your mum's appointment at the hospital went well. It's good that you have found somewhere else you would like to live also that the problem over the deeds has been sorted and put your mind at rest

That's good you have found some where you like Gill ,is it another bungalow ?

What a late appointment your mum has at the hospital ,try not to worry and i know it's easier said than done but do try and have an early night ,you've not been well and then with Sandra feeling poorly you've been looking after her and all the house hunting you must feel worn out .

Nice to have a bit of lunch out Anne ,sounds like you will be busy with all the plants you've bought ,now you just need a nice day so you can get them in the garden .

We've just finished supper. Roast chicken pieces in a tomato sauce, with rice and side salad, all prepared and cooked by Ian, washed up (dishwasher!) by me!!
Sorry you're not feeling too bright Jane, hope you feel better tomorrow. Good news about your scan though, it must be a relief!
That's ok then Gill. So long as your solicitor is confident everything is in order, then you've no worries.
Not sure whether we will get any snow here. Doesn't look like it at the moment! I hope NOT!!!

Gillx Report 3 Mar 2016 19:59

Yes it's another bungalow Mandy, the one I thought we'd lost the other week in the next village, apparently the fella pulled out so it's back on the market now. It's a two bedroom detached bungalow, but I'd like to put an extension on the back as it's not quite as big as this place and I'd like an open plan living room kitchen/diner, but with double doors between the kitchen and living room so we can shut the kitchen off if we want to or have it open plan.

I'll find out tomorrow how mum got on at the hospital Anne. She was talking of going to bingo tonight so at least she won't be at home on her own. I would of liked her to ring me tonight but she wasn't sure what time she would get back, which is why she's ringing me in the morning instead.

I wouldn't say I was confident Liz, all we can do is wait and see what happens and hope the buyers aren't put off by the situation with Michelle. With a bit of luck the insurance policy will put their minds at rest. They are coming back for a second look on Saturday. They have said they didn't want us to take anymore viewings so that's a positive I suppose. We're not going to pay for a survey ourselves until they've had theirs and we know they are okay with it as we don't want to go to any unnecessary expense just yet. So we're just getting quotes for the building work we want done on the new place and finding out what the agents and solicitors costs are, plus we're going to see if we can get another mortgage just incase we need it.

We haven't put in an offer on the bungalow yet so someone else might get in there before us, but until we know how much everything is going to cost we don't know how much our offer will be. The agent is fully aware of the situation as she is the one who recommended the builder so I'm sure she'll explain the delay to the vendors. We're also still looking at properties so we might find something else we like more, we've only been under offer since 1st March so it's early days yet. OH is back in work tomorrow so we can't do any more until he's off again and Monday is out as we've got to take the car for it's MOT.
We're meeting ourselves coming back at the moment, we're that busy :-)

Annx Report 3 Mar 2016 21:16

You are busy Gill! It's good the bungalow came back on the market for you, sometimes things just have a way of working out for the best. :-) It sounds like you have done all you can for the moment. I hope your mum got the news she wanted today and that the bingo will help her relax.

That's good news about your scan Jane and I hope your blood results aren't of too much concern. It's a pity to have to keep waiting for results all the time. If we were a dog or cat at Noel's place we'd get sorted straightaway! I bet you are looking forward to getting your new suite and it sounds as if it has come through very quickly. What are you doing with the old one? I hope your dicky tum has gone by tomorrow morning.

I'm glad they are going to ban that chap Frank. Fancy him already getting drunk before he arrived........they should have chucked him straight out!

Mandy, I must admit thoughts of a 'doggie bag' did cross my mind!! lol :-D It all looked so appetising! That's good your hubby has his legs up!! I get a bit of ankle swelling on hot days and I find doing that helps too. Hopefully a mild dose of the tablets won't cause too many trips to the loo. :-S The Fire Stick sounds good, especially as it's just a one off payment.

I would enjoy your supper Liz.........especially if my OH cooked it......which he wouldn't. He'd be happy to get me a salad with a jacket though!

Poor Shirl is having trouble with GR again with it not accepting her password, even though they are supposed to have sorted things out for her. She says to keep in touch. :-D :-D

I think you are right about FIL giving up now Anne. OH has dug out some old photos he found at their house of him in his RAF uniform and of his 2 brothers in their uniforms tonight and is going to take them with him tomorrow to see if he shows any interest. I've scanned them in case he leaves them at the home and they go missing. I'll put the one of him as my avatar for a while.

I was going to take my sister out for lunch for her 60th birthday one day next week, but we're holding back for the moment as she's having trouble with a tooth she's just had out. We'll be out one day for OH's birthday and I have a hair appointment another lunchtime so goodness knows when we'll squeeze it in! :-)

Good news about your scan then Jane and I hope they can give you something for the vitimins you are low on. It must have put your mind at rest with the results of the scan. Hope you are feeling better tomorrow as its not like you to be ill. Are your leaks all sorted now?

Mandy the Amazon Fire Stick is what oh bought a few weeks ago. Be careful though as a lot of things you still hav eto pay for. BBC iplayer is on it but if you search for a program that is on BBC watch out and make sure it is on your watch list as some have a pay thing on episodes. We have been watching Vikings on it and we watched Klondyke about the gold rush. Now we are watching Game of Thrones. We also watched Black Sails but there is sweaering inthat and a lot of nudeity!! men too!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :-0 :-0 :-0 :-0 :-0 :-0

Anne it sounds like you had a nice day today buying all those plants at the garden centre. What kinds of things did you buy please?

Gill that will be great if you get the property you originally wanted. I hope the builders quote is ok for you to go ahead withthe work you need done. Has Sandra seen the house?

Ann did they find FIL teeth? I wonder if thats why he dos'nt want to eat anything if he has no teeth. When mum would'nt eat I used to buy her those glucose drinks and give her a straw to drink with. It worked quite well. I hope he shows some interest inthe photos Gordon is taking in tomorrow but it does sound like he is slowly slipping away and it will be a huge relief to you both when the time comes. You are both in my thoughts and prayers. Sending lots of love in this trying time. <3 <3 <3

The sausages and pasta with the ratat tonight were lovely. We hav'nt had that for a while and it made a nice change.

Good morning everyone

It's a lovely bright morning here again with a clear blue sky. I am just about to take Amy out. When I get back it will be putting the plants in. Mel you asked what I had bought, I have just looked at the receipt which lists them. 4 trays of pansies & 2 primroses for the tubs, 4 dianthus for the rockery, 6 pots of aubrieta these will go in the raised bed and 2 mauve perennials called erysimum , I also bought a collection of birthday cards, plus of course the spring flower tub for Peter's plot, I will still need to get more plants but will probably go with my friend next time as Paul doesn't really enjoy this type of shopping.

I hope you all have a good day and are feeling well

Gillx Report 4 Mar 2016 09:27

Morning all

It's just been snowing here, but it's slushy and hasn't stuck very well so Sandra can't make a snowman. I think the snow has turned to light rain now, but there are lots of clouds around so she might get the right snow for her snowman later today. We've got the buyers coming back tomorrow so if we do get the right snow then she's going to use the snow from the drive at the side of the bungalow and roll the snowman to the back patio so she can see it through the living room window. I'm so disappointed for her as she was really exited when she saw the snow this morning and it started sticking on the grass. I did remind her that we're suppose to be getting lots of snow at the end of the month so there's still time to build her snowman, which cheered her up a bit. In a way I'm glad she can't do her snowman today as she's still not well and it's freezing out there. I'd rather she got over her bug first, of course I wouldn't of stopped her making a snowman as she's been waiting so long that would of been cruel but she would of been wrapped up well if she was able to make one and I would of helped her so she wouldn't of been out in the cold for to long.

Your plants sound lovely Anne and you have the good weather to plant them out. Your garden is going to look lovely and colourful by the sounds of it.

Sandra didn't come with us to see the bungalow Mel, she didn't feel up to going out but I've shown it to her on the internet and assured her that if we go ahead with the purchase then she'll have the big bedroom she wanted, plus it'll be nearer to the shops so we can go out more, which she's pleased about.

Sorry to hear about your sister Ann, hope you manage to have lunch with her soon. It does sound like you're busy but I'm sure you'll find the time to spent with your sister. I thought my sister was going to be at mum's yesterday but apparently she turned up a few days ago and no one told me, so I haven't seen her for quite a while.

I hope you are feeling better today Jane and your tummy is okay.

I'm so glad I don't have to go out today, I've decided to give this place a quick going over ready for the buyers arriving tomorrow then sit and catch up with my programmes I've recorded in the warmth. I managed to get a good nights sleep last night so feel a little better today and I'm going to ring my mum in half an hour to see how she got on yesterday at the hospital.

What is everyone else up to today? It's just started snowing again :-) :-) has anyone else got snow?

Mel Fairy Godmother

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 4 Mar 2016 10:22

Morning all and evening Kim,

We have wall to wall sunshine and very little in the way of a breeze or wind. Oh did wake me early to tell me it was snowing but when I look out the window I could'nt see any flakes coming down or settleing and then he said its gone now by the time you get up. Cheek. We have some white cloud in the sky too so I don't think the sun will last all day.

I have to pop up the shop to get some tea today as I only have one tea bag left. They don't do my tea in Lidl and as I like my one I did'nt want to try a different one in case I did'nt like it as I am the only one who drinks tea and I don't like waste.

Gill let us know how mum got on yesterday at the hospital when you hear please?

Anne the plants sound lovely and pansies give such a good show. They don't like it down here in my garden as they get black spot as the air is so clean. When I lived in Suffolk I used to be able to keep pansies going for a couple of years. They say those everlasting Wallflowers flower for 365 day of the year, did you buy Bowles Mauve?

Frank Report 4 Mar 2016 10:35

Morning all, Evening Kim,

Just popping in before starting to sort out the fridge, we can take most things with us to Jan's. Just some odds and ends to pack. Then Shower and shave and dressed before Ros gets back. We will be off about 1.30 if we are all ready.

Ros it at the hairdressers, so she will look the part for the next week <3 <3 <3

Do you girls know about this nail varnish that changes colour. It's pink when your hands are warm and turns purple when you are cold. Ros had it put on this week. So I have two different coloured hands to look at (I can't tell one from the other being colour blind)

I was at the Drs. yesterday. I have to go for a MRI scan on knee and hip. She is also concerned about something else that I have forgotten. (TRUST ME)

Haven't read the posts (NO TIME)

Will take computer with me so will stay in touch.

Take care all and behave while I am away.

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 4 Mar 2016 11:25

I keep forgetting to write this.

You know I had those lovely roses from oh for Valentines day. They are in a jug to the left of my desk. I tended them with clean water and recut the stems and they lasted well till yesterday when oh came out and said "By the look of your roses the Ice Queen has been past here" They have all wilted and gone brown round the edges so now I shall have to bin them but they lasted well for large flowers.

Gillx

Gillx Report 4 Mar 2016 13:18

All the snow has gone now and it's pouring with rain, so we have large puddles on the patio and grass, hope it all drains away before our buyers come back for a second look.

You did well with your roses Mel, I got some carnations off OH and apart from the odd one or two they are still going strong. I like carnations, for that reason, they just seem to go on and on. Really good value for money too me thinks :-) ;-)

I rang mum Mel and she does have to go into hospital next week. They are going to do another test to see how the blood is flowing though her heart and if it's to bad they are going to put a stent in while she's there. She has to take aspirin before she goes, I think 8 of them the day before. She seemed a lot calmer today, after looking so scared yesterday. She went to her bingo last night but didn't win. She only goes out one evening a week to meet up with her friends so I'm glad she went. Mum said she's going to her lunch club today, so she must be feeling less stressed. If she has the stent put in she can't drive for a week so we'll take her with us to do her shopping next week when I do mine. I did say I would do her shopping for her but she wants to go round the shops herself, so we'll take her in our car with us.

Hope the weather is nice for your journey away Frank, have a nice time and like Mel said be careful of the stairs. How long are you away for, sorry I can't remember what you said? :-S :-S The nail varnish sounds fascinating, I've not heard of it before. You are like my OH, colour blind, so you'll have to take Ros's word for it changing colour ;-) ;-) :-D
Hope your MRI scan goes well for you Frank. When have you got to go for that?

We've just got all the paperwork off our solicitor, there are pages and pages of it, so many forms to fill in and they want answers for things I don't know how to answer, one of them being does the bungalow or garden flood. The bungalow doesn't and I wouldn't say the garden does either, but we do get quite large puddles in the grass and on the patio if it rains heavily. The puddles drain away over time, so I'm not sure what to put for the answer to that one as I don't want them to think I'm lying. I might just say in the comments box that puddles form but drain away quickly once the rain stops, at least that way I have covered myself and it's the truth anyway.

So much for me watching my programmes, it looks like I'll be form filling for the next few hours......the joy of selling a property LOL :-D :-D

Everything seems to be moving so fast and we haven't even found anywhere for sure to buy yet. Maybe it'll slow down a bit soon then we'll have some time to find somewhere to live. I would like to go for the bungalow we found, but OH has now said he doesn't like it, so I'm going to have to trawl the internet looking for more properties to view when OH is off work and we have some free time. It doesn't help when the MOT on the car is due as well as we don't get a lot of free time as it is. I think I might have to make an appointment for Sandra to go to the doctors too, as she doesn't seem to be able to get rid of this cough and sore throat she has.
Mum did say she would take us to the doctors if OH was working but I don't like to put on her. So at the moment I'm trying to fit everything in, to very little free time.

I'm just going to ring the Agent to try and get hold of the builders number as she hasn't got back to me, although OH doesn't like the bungalow, at the moment, he's open to ideas of how to improve it, so we'll still go ahead with the builder and get some quotes. There doesn't seem to be anything else to go for at the moment anyway so I don't want to lose the only property we've found. I was thinking if we put in an offer it would give us peace of mind and then we could carry on looking at other properties on the off chance we find something else we both like. At least we'd have something to fall back on if we don't find anything else.

The problem with OH and he's said it himself is, he has no vision. I on the other hand can see exactly how it's going to look, but without pictures for OH to see he just doesn't get it. So all I've said is trust me.....not sure I've convinced him though :-) ;-)

All we know is we don't want to stay here, so it's either the bungalow we've found or nothing at the moment. Let's hope some more properties come onto the market soon, then we'll have more choice.

Well, I'd better make a start on these forms
See you all later.

I've just finished putting the plants in and did some more weeding. Mel I did buy the plants you mentioned I have had them before for a few years then they seemed to die off. I wanted to get some last year but didn't see any. I will need to buy a lot more plants but its a bit early for a lot of my favourites.

Afternoon All

No snow here either Liz.We have had lovely sunshine right up until a few minutes ago,and now it looks all cloudy.
You did welll to get all the plants in Anne. They will look very pretty .I am waiting for all the bulbs in the pots to flower. Some are nearly there, but it all seems so slow.

Mel your Roses did do well didn't they. They look so sad when they suddenly droop and go brown.

Gill,I think the property market often improves in the Spring with more people putting their houses up for sale so maybe in a week or so there will be more choice for you.
From what you have said about rainwater collecting on the lawn and patio I certainly wouldn't class that as flooding as it drains away quite quickly and it has never got into the bungalow.
I am glad your Mum is not feeling so stressed today and that she enjoyed her Bingo. At least she knows what she might have done next week so I won't come as a shock if she does need a stent.

So Frank has gone !!!!..I must have missed a post somewhere along the line.I know he mentioned about going down to Devon at Easter but not now.
I haven't heard about that nailvarish either .I don't think I would like to have my nails changing colour ,although I suspect that it is a subtle change in colour.
I hope you don't have to wait too long for your MRI Frank.I think I just waited a few weeks. Also this other'problem' that you forgot !!

Well I have been to have my hair cut.I had to go to the smaller salon in Geddington village.it is such a pretty place. If I had remembered to take my mobile phone I would have taken a couple of photos. My next 2 appointments are in the other salon in town ,but I think after those I might just go to Geddington in future.Plus I can park much closer to the salon .
I saw a paramedic and then an Ambulance in the drive of the elderly lady 4 doors down this morning. They were there for ages so i don't know what has happened to Joan. She is the 93/94yr old lady who lives by herself and has Dementia.Such a lovely lady and always has a beaming smile.

I bought some Vitamin D tablets earlier.I am assuming I will be told I need to take them so thought I might as well start now.

I think it must be time for a cuppa.Chris has just had a bonfire and got rid of the old fence panel plus some other bits and he will be ready to wet his whistle.

Anne, how did OH get on with the photos .Did his Dad show any interest ? I hope that he is getting plenty of TLC at the home and that he is as comfortable as possible.
I am sure your Sister will be just as happy to go for a meal out after her birthday, especially if she has a sore mouth at the moment. It is your Gordon's birthday the same day as Hannah isn't it ?
I can hear the kettle boiling :-D

I went off to Holsworthy late this morning to get some chicken food, cider for oh, sunflower kernals for the wildies and tea bags for me. First I went into Waitrose and got the tea bags some of their rostie and a bottle of port. Put my hand in my bag to get my purse out and pricked my finger on the side on the peg I keep on my list so I don't lose it. It bled like billy o so out came a mass of tissues from my pocket to mop the blood up with. Paid for those bits and got a voucher for a FREE bunch of daffs. How good was that?

Then I went into Mole Valley as its just down the road a bit and got the chickens food and cider for oh and a pair of cheap wellies for him to cut down for mowing paid for his stuff then paid for mine and the young lad on the till asked if I wanted cash back. Yes please said I £10. Took it all out to the car and got the collection note out the bag to go and pick up the food through the drive in bit. Looked for where I put the collection note and it was'nt there. It must have blown out the side pocket as I closed the car door. Anyway I showed the chap my bill and he gave me the two sacks saving me from going right around to the shop side again as it is now all one way and its a big site.

Then I went up town to get the sunflower kernals in the pet shop as Mole Valley had sold out. Parked fine and went and got the S F K and opened my purse to pay as they don't take cards only to find I had no tenner only the five pound note I had before getting the cash back. Then I had to get fish and chips so had to go to the hole in the wall to get more money out. After getting the F & C I then had to go back to Mole Valley and tell them the boy had'nt given me my £10 as when I got to the chippy I had no money. Well thats what I said but anyway they gave me the tenner.

What a lot of faffing around for just a quick pop to get a few bits. Still no cooking for me tonight.
