Frank Report 7 Mar 2016 12:05

I have tried SKYPING Shirl but she's not on line. I have left her a message wishing her "HAPPY BIRTHDAY" Who knows how old ahe is today ?? is it the big "80" ??

I also left a message on FB. I see that Kim is posting on FB so it looks like she might be home from hospital.

Jo has just come in, and making coffee. Then the girls will be off to Exeter. If they don't get a move on they will be coming home in the dark.

I have been looking on ebay for a sound bar for the T.V. I have no idea what I am looking for, so will leave it and ask Conrad which one I will need. Our surround sound has been playing up for ages, and is difficult to adjust, so it needs to be replaced.

Little JJ has been an absolute little darling. When Jo's not around he sits on the sofa with me and snuggles up to my leg, with his head on my lap. We seem to get along so well.

Afternoon All,

Sun is shining which is good and washing is out drying....also good. :-)

Frank you are naughty gambling with your health! You really should go and get checked out. Maybe some of your medication needs adjusting and and it's no good saying later........if only I'd........!! You know it makes sense. :-) JJ sounds really good company and a little darling.

I must pop out soon and see what cards I can find for OH's birthday on Thursday. Why do most cards for men have either a beer can or bottle or a set of golf clubs on the front?? It's so much easier to buy cards for a woman. :-S

Gill it sounds like you have a lot on the go and I hope you can get an appointment for Sandra to see a doctor. It's a nightmare here trying to get appointments as well.

I have managed to book our week away in Cornwall in May and also to see the show Chicago at the theatre inTruro on the Friday we drive down. Something to look forward to at last, mind you the lodge price keeps going up every year. I think now we are paying for the hot tub we don't really want.

Frank, we've got a sound bar! We bought it from Currys when we bought our new TV just after Xmas. Ian's hearing isn't all it might be(!!!) and its proved invaluable!
Lovely sunny day, washing is on the line, Cas is in her crate, and we're about to have lunch! This afternoon we're planning to do a few outdoor jobs; cold duck, baked potatoes and salad for supper.
Gill don't wear yourself out, try and take each job one at a time!!
My daffs are right out and they do look nice. Ian bought me a box of after eights for mother's day, wasn't that nice, I was really touched! Mind you, I hope he hasn't got the wrong idea, as I am NOT his mother!!!!

Glad you're enjoying the company of little JJ Frank. I suppose thats when you think it would be nice to have another pet but I know what you mean about being able to do whatever you want without having to worry about who is going to look after the pet whilst your away.

I wonder if Kim is home now. I hope she is a bit better. Sending love if she may look in. <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3

Afternoon all,

We've had snow showers all the morning but it's not laying the ground is to wet .

<3 <3 <3 <3 Happy Birthday Shirl <3 <3 <3 <3
Don't know if your able to look in but have a lovely birthday .

Gill we have problems getting doctors appointments here too, we find the best way to get one is to go up to the surgery as soon as they open ,but it's not always easy to do when you don't feel well but trying to ring them is hopeless by the time you can get through all the appointments have gone ,i hope your able to get one for Sandra this afternoon .

Sounds as if you have made a friend there Frank with little JJ he's enjoying the company :-) or could it be the treats you give him ;-) :-D :-D
I have no idea what a sound bar is ,will have to google that one .

Your right Ann it is so hard to get a card for a man , plenty of choice if they are golf playing drinkers !!
The holiday will be some thing to look forward too ,go on try the hot tub ,especially if you have paid for it ,i bet you would love it, it's nice and relaxing and good for the joints .

I bet the Daffs look a picture now they are all out Liz , After Eights too that was nice of OH perhaps they were from Cas for her mummy :-)

Mel Fairy Godmother

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 7 Mar 2016 14:47

I like that idea too Liz that they were from Cas. Bet your daffs look great now they are all out. Such a bright cheery flower on a dark day and even brighter on a sunny one. I always have containers with them planted in for a bit of cheerfullness outside the back door. This year I have planted up big pots of tulips so will see how they fair on the patio outside the back door when the daffs have gone over. They are showing buds and they are called Sherbert Mix.

Frank Report 7 Mar 2016 15:08

Jo has been fussing over me like a mother hen. She has clients this afternoon, but keeps popping in the lounge to see if i need anything. Her Mum told her to keep an eye on me, and she's certainly doing that.

JJ is upstairs lying on his blanket in Jo's bedroom. He can't be with her while she's working, and doesn't seems to be bothered with me. He might come down when he's ready. ;-) ;-)

The weather is very mixed today, earlier we had rain then sunshine, now cloud. We still have that chilly wind.

I have seen mens cards in Tesco that have ships, fishing rods, and various "MEN THINGS" on, not all with BEER bottles or cans.

Ann I bet you are looking forward to your break in Cornwall. As for the HOT TUB. We have a hot tub type thing when I went swimming with Lewis. The jets were lovely on your back and legs. My son had one in Daventry, and would have "HOT TUB" parties, whatever they are. I was never invited, so it might have been a younger persons thing ;-) ;-) ;-).

It's less than 3 months to when we go to Spain to stay with Conrad. That will soon come round, We are not sure if Jan will be there at the same time, which would be nice as she could take us out while Conrad is at work. Otherwise we will be restricted to the apartment. I don't think there is a bus service where he is.

The sun is out again, just as Jo has to go off to pick Ella up from school. On Wednesday Ella has a school concert that she wants Ros and I to go to. She has to recite a poem and sing a song. There are FOUR finalist, and of course it would be nice for her to win. Jan and Jo would be so proud.

Conrad is travelling from Bristol airport on Wednesday by train. The station this end is not far from here, it will mean Jan won't have to drive to Bristol and back, which would be about 4 hours round trip.

Flowers have just arrived from Conrad for Ros for Mothers day. They were suppose to have been here Saturday, so I can see a complaint going to whoever is responsible. :-( :-( :-( But knowing Conrad he won't complain, He's not like me ;-) ;-)

COT time and a biscuit. See you later.

Afternoon Everyone
It is really cold here today.Have had the drier going all afternoon as i didn't think washing would dry outside.

Frank.I do think you should get to see your GP when you get home.Something obviously happened the other morning. You are a silly billy you know :-S
Sounds like you are having a good time away this time :-DI see from Mel you are home on Thursday.I don't know why but I just thought it was just for a couple of days.Nice to get a bit of the good sea air.

Shirl will be 81 today. It was her big one last year when her Nieces went out to Cananda to celebrate with her.I hope she is having a lovely day.I left a message on her FB.

Gill,we are the same here with Drs appointments. It can be weeks ahead :-S :-S
You might feel happier getting Sandra checked out at the Out of Hours if you can't get her in at the surgery.I hope that OH's back isn't too painful .It is not the best job for him at the care home with a dodgy back is it,what with lifting and turning .
Fingers crossed the meeting with the mortgage people goes as you hope and you will be able to get a small mortgage if you need to.

Liz your Daffs look lovely in the little trough :-).I love Daffodils. My ones I had for Mothers Day are beginning to open now as are the Iris :-D

Mel those Tulips will be a right blaze of colour.I often by myself a big bunch of 'Rainbow' coloured Tulips from Tesco. They are beautiful and last for ages.

Mandy I see you are buying up the petshop LOL in peraration for little Max :-D :-D.It is hard not to go a bit mad isn't it.
Chris only moaned the other day that there are so many cat things in our lounge !!.He is forever tripping over something of Thomas's things :-)

Ann that will be so good for you to get away in May.Even if you don't have a go in the Hot Tub :-D..I have never been in one.I think I would love it..The only time I would get in one is if we were somewhere where no-one else could see me(other than Chris)..If your tub is really private why don't you try it.You may well love the experience :-D

That Buzzard had a great feast in its talons!!!.Not much left though lol.You were lucky to get that pic

I need to give my potatoes a shake.I have just parboiled them and they need the edges roughing up ready to go in the oven with Garlic Cloves,Lemon Wedges, some Thyme and a couple of Tablespoons of Olive Oil.They are so good done like this. Then it will be Lemon and Herb Chicken Breasts,Broccoli ,Green Beans and teeny baby carrots :-D

Annx

Annx Report 7 Mar 2016 19:00

Yes I think I would try the hot tub if it was completely private, although I might struggle getting out with my knees! Sadly they have put the hot tubs midway between the lodges, right next to the full length lounge windows of the next lodge and there is no screening around them at all!! Plus, the 2 hunky, tanned, surfing brothers with sun bleached hair who own the lodges often drop by for a chat so I wouldn't want to be caught out straddling the side of the tub by them either!! Not mentioned them before have I?lol :-D

OH has a meeting now and is popping back to the Home again after to see his dad again. (he went this morning). He is comfortable and sleeping nearly all the time and has his new bed. The senior carer who is a really nice man has promised to keep him comfortable and says that even in the remote chance he may pull round, his dementia is likely to be much worse.

We went to a hotel that is part of the TableTable chain for lunch today and I had lamb shank with red cabbage and OH had a risotto with asparagus. They had sent OH a free main course voucher for his birthday! The place was virtually empty, then it was spoiled a bit when 2 young mothers came in with their toddlers and plonked themselves (yes you've guessed!) right next to us avoiding the 90% other seats that were empty. I wouldn't mind but why do they (the mothers) have to shout when they are talking so we couldn't even hear each other talking. They ordered drinks and meals including ones with plenty of chips for the tots who then left most of theirs.......I think one for them to share would have been enough. Then after a load of deafening singing and loud clapping, one mother decided to take photos of her little daughter, but not until she had shouted umpteen times to get her to 'pout' to her satisfaction for the photo. OH was rolling his eyes and ready for the off by this point!! As we went through the door he said 'we should have gone to a creche it would have been quieter!' lol.

magpie Report 7 Mar 2016 19:15

Pouting at that age?! Oh dear, what are these mothers like. How vulgar is that, and storing up a load of trouble for those teenage years!
Quite a lot of gardening done this afternoon, so a load of weeds went off down to the bonfire. Just finished supper and cleared away, so watching a bit of catchup.
Hope you haven't overdone it today Gill. Yes Frank you really should have a check up when you get home, it may be that your medication needs changing.

Not another roudy meal out Ann. You need to find somewhere thats nice and quiet that has booths or something like that.

Made a sheep sh*t pie for dinner and I can smell it so I better have a look to see if I have burnt it or not.

Jane

Jane Report 7 Mar 2016 20:23

Oh Ann,that didn't sound a very relaxing and enjoyable meal :-S Some people never seem to think of other diners. As for getting the little girl to 'pout' well I will keep what I think about that to myself. It could well be bad language if I said what I think on here lol

Mmmm Ann I think I do remember you mentioning the 2 hunky tanned surfing brother owners :-D :-D ;-) ;-).....Where is it you are staying??? Sounds like a perfect spot LOL
I hope FIL remains comfortable in his new bed.I don't think he will be getting out of bed again now from what you say.It sounds like he is going to be getting really good care in what may be the last days/weeks of his life. That will be a huge comfort for Gordon <3

Annx

Annx Report 7 Mar 2016 20:48

Just what we thought Liz.........what a wonderful role model the mother was...NOT! Giving out all the wrong messages and storing up trouble for the future as you say.

Mel, it usually is a quiet place when you go early, but we were late today with OH seeing FIL.

Did anyone watch the tv prog on FGM the other night? I thought I knew a lot about it having seen progs before but it was shocking. Apart from the painful process when it's done, in some places the girls, when they marry, are locked in a room with their husbands for a week until the marriage is consumated. What I didn't realise was that some of their stitches are cut just beforehand to make that possible. Of course that means there is a raw wound and one mother was saying how terrible her daughter's screams were during that week. Then when they have a child, more stitches have to be cut to make a normal and no doubt even more painful delivery possible and after that they are stitched back up again till the next birth when it's done again.

I'm off to bed now as I had another sleepless night last night and need to be up early tomorrow to do some errands. Night All.

OH saw a doctor too about his back and has got to rest it so he'll have a week off work.

Off to bed now I'm shattered see you all tomorrow

Morning all,

We've had a little rain this morning and now its just dull and grey out there.

Twisted my back somehow and thought it would be better this morning but its not and its also Donkey Day. Where do we put all this food I buy?? Down the loo I suppose :-S

Glad you got Sandra to the docs at last Gill and now you know how to treat her. Hope she is feeling better soon as there's nothing worse than a cough for making you feel down. Sending love and {{{{hugs}}} xx <3 <3 <3

Gillx Report 8 Mar 2016 11:24

Morning all

Very dull here today, but with having lots of clouds it's not so cold.

That woman Ann telling her daughter to pout ,the poor girl being taught things like that, it's just not right. Such a shame you had another noisy meal, lets hope it's third time lucky next time you both eat out. It sounds like FIL is being well looked after, pleased to hear he got his new bed, he'll be more comfy now.

How is Jess now Jane? Did James go down to see her the other night? The poor girl's had so much to deal with lately hasn't she?

It sounds like you and JJ are getting on well Frank, you love that little dog don't you? Hope you are feeling a bit better today.

Sorry to hear you have hurt your back too Mel, hope it's better soon. Try a Radox bath, I've been running them for OH and he said it helps, especially if you have one just before bedtime. Sandra is still asleep so I'll pass on your love and hugs to her when she wakes up. She's not slept very well lately so I'm just leaving her to wake up herself when she's ready, OH has fell sleep on the sofa, so it's very quiet here at the moment.

We're not going to OH's mum's today as his back is to bad to drive that far, he said he could just about manage short journeys around here but his mum lives miles away, which he can't manage at the moment. He rang her last night to wish her happy mother's day as he was working on Sunday and didn't get in from work until late so couldn't ring her then. He bought her some white roses, her favourite, but by the time we go to see her they won't be at their best, so he's given them to me and will buy her some more when we visit.

The car did fail the MOT but only on something really small and cheap so that's booked back in for it's re-test and the small job on Thursday, OH said he will probably feel a little better by then to be able to drive the car to the garage, I said I would take the car, but he knows it's really tight to get into the garage so said he'd do it himself.

I've had to make a "To do list" for Friday as we have loads to do with not much time in between all the appointments. We are seeing a mortgage advisor first thing then viewing three properties after that with possibly another two after those, we're just waiting for confirmation on the last two. So hopefully we'll find one we like and be able to put an offer in. We've put an offer on the bungalow the builders are going round to see Friday lunch time, but we haven't heard anything back yet. Apparently it's going thorough a solicitor so the offer couldn't be put forward until yesterday. I don't think the offer will be excepted, but it was worth a try and since then we've found better properties anyway, but will need a small mortgage if we go for those, which we're not to keen on doing. Hope we find something soon, there's hardly anything out there at the moment and I feel like we're running out of time.

I made a start on the solicitors forms yesterday but then got stuck on almost the first questions about the deeds, so I'm going to fill out what I can then make an appointment to see the solicitor when OH's back is better so he can help us with the questions we're not sure about. It took me ages yesterday to find all the guarantees for all the work we've had done over the years as they have to be handed in with the forms. I think once the forms are done and we've found somewhere to live I'll start feeling less stressed and can then just concentrate on the packing which I can do at my own pace and will be less stressful.
I did have a good nights sleep last night, so that has really helped, but I woke up this morning with a sore throat :-( :-(

I'm going to carry on with the forms now while OH and Sandra are still asleep.
What is everyone else up to today? Please be careful Mel doing your shopping, you don't want to make your back worse <3 Can't your OH help you?

Morning all, from a mad house, Evening Kim,

Kerry is on SKYPE Jans phone is ringing. Ella has a day off school and is being her usual Pain in the A##e.

Ros and I are going out soon to get a bit of peace and quite. We wil have a ride down the front and have a coffee.

Last night we had a Spag Bol. it was the worst one I have ever tasted !! No flavour at all and the mince seemed to have just been boiled with no Mushrooms onions or tomato's.

These young mums and their children, shouldn't be allowed into restaurants, unless they can behave themselves. The Management should step in and have a word with them. We have asked to be moved in restaurants, when some of these families take over the place.

On Sunday, there was not one young child in the restaurant. At those prices a young family coyuldn't afford the prices.

I have never seen anything about FGM, but have read various articles on it. How can these people think it's right to treat children like it. I know what I would do with them, a chopper would come into it. !!!

Jane it's the same here, either JJs toys or Ella's things scattered across the floors.

The stairs are beginning to cause me more problems. I am finding it more and more difficult to attempt the climb. You go up three stairs then turn to go up another 6 then a turn for another 4. onto the landing. You have to go up another 3 steps before you get to the bedroom. So some hike for me. If I need the loo in the nifht, I have to go down the three steps along a long passage way to get to the toilet. The problem is when you want to go YOU WANT TO GO ;-) ;-) ;-)

The weather doesn't look that bad out this morning, I have poked my nose outside. The first time since Sunday.

See you all later.

Afternoon all,

Dull here but dry after a hard frost this morning and it's really cold out ,we went and did some shopping i only wanted a few bits i was glad to get home in the warm again .

Glad you managed to get Sandra in to see the doctor hopefully some paracetamol will soon make her feel better .
Now poor OH has a bad back ,it's all happening in your house Gill ,having the week off and resting should help ,but it does sound as if you have a busy week ahead .
Good luck with the form filling ,not one of my favourite jobs .
Making a list is a good idea it's so easy to miss some thing when you have so much that needs doing .

You've hurt your back too Mel , be careful pushing that heavy shopping trolley ,it's a pity the shops arn't closer to you ,you could have done the shopping in two lighter loads .

Enjoy your ride out to the front Frank to get a nice bit of sea air in your lungs ,wrap up nice and warm though as you'll feel the cold after being in for a few days .

Better go and make the bed i stripped the bed first thing and left it to have a good airing .

There we were sitting in the car, me reading the paper and Ros a magazine when the phone rang "WHERE ARE YOU" We are going out and will have to leave the door open. So home we had to come. Jo is out with friends, and Jan has taken Ella for a hair trim. So much for our "OWN" time. So we are home, and they are all out. The peace will soon be shattered when they arrive back home. Why all three of them have to talk above each over I do not know, other than it grates on my nerves !!!

We have had drizzle all afternoon, and misty sea views.

I would like to go to the pub tonight. The K.O is 7.00 pm but I don't expect the dinner will be ready before that time. They do tend to eat later than us.

Going into the lounge now, and carry on reading the paper.

See you !!!!
