Afternoon All,

Well, what can I say David!! :-D :-D I told you to push on and just answer and that it would likely be ok once they had all the info and it's turned out well for you!! Try and keep positive now and push on with finding a car that you will be able to get into and drive. Just think, by summer you could be taking Ellen out on a few jaunts!! I would start making enquiries with the council about a blue badge as well to see what they would need. It would mean you could park right outside most places you want to go.

Yes Gill, mice usually live in families of several individuals so you may well find there are more like Mel says. When they come in our loft we usually catch up to half a dozen. It's a good idea to ask the council about your plans for the garage.

Mel, I bought small pearls, crystal bicones, 2 large spools of beading thread, some unusual clasps, seed beads, beads with two holes called superduos, some lovely 'cat' buttons, needles, a kit for a necklace that looks like peacock feathers and some twisted leaf effect beads and some triangular two hole beads. :-) The last beads are for a bracelet we are making in class that has the effect of scales standing up.

That will be nice to have Lewis to stay Frank. You will have to try and beat him to the bathroom though!! I like the sound of all the veg you are having. I did some really bright purple sprouting broc with cabbage, carrots and peas yesterday to have with some chicken. It turned the water in the steamer bright green, but at least the gravy I made with it afterwards wasn't green.

My grandparents often had Pigeon Liz, also rabbit and tripe! I remember having Guinea fowl once and they were nice. I don't really like beef so never have it and don't often have pork. I don't think I would find it hard to give up meat altogether.

OH is wanting to go for a walk now.......see you later!

Yes I think the new drama will be very good! You soon get used to subtitles, and some of it is is English! We're watching the second half this afternoon , as we were just too tired last night! Have a feeling it might get a bit sinister!!!! I think pigeon is an 'aquired' taste!! we always make gravy with cider, which is delicious, and last night Ian had recurrent jelly which he's very keen on! Today we've got duck breasts, Jersey royals and sweetheart cabbage. I agree Ann, If I had my time over, I think I would have been a vegetarian. As you know, I get all our meat from our local. butcher, as at least you can be certain that the creatures have had a decent life, particularly pork!!
Cold here, as there is no sun! We've had a bonfire this morning, first one of the year!

Thanx Annx that's good advice. I wonder if my Civic Centre would have docs on that form or would I have to return to DVLA.?
Want to stay away from my GP

magpie Report 20 Mar 2016 14:46

You can apply for a blue disability badge on line David. I don't know what you have to show them in order to qualify.
The sun's coming out here!!

Gillx Report 20 Mar 2016 15:24

My mum has a blue badge and parks right outside most of the places she needs to go she also is allowed to stay in car parks longer than the time stated, although once she was sent a ticket but after she had explained she was a blue badge holder she didn't have to pay the fine. Some car parks only take your registration when entering the car park and leaving it, so don't know that you hold a blue badge which was the case for my mum, hence the attempted fine.

Sandra would be pleased if we ended up with a swimming pool Jane she loves swimming and used to belong to a swimming club years ago. I on the other hand would like a dry summerhouse :-D :-D I'm going to have a word with the builder if he gets back to me as to the best way to go about things, he'll know more than me and hopefully can sort it all out properly.

Has Thomas gone in his new bed yet? I made a bed for one of our cats by turning a cardboard box on it's side and putting a pillow in there for her, she loved it and slept in it all night, until she wanted her breakfast, then she would scratch the door frame, waking me up to feed her. She didn't wake early so I didn't mind.

It sounds like you bought lots of lovely things Ann. I'd love to see some pictures of the things you make with all your new goodies.

So you and Ros had to cross your legs this morning Frank ;-) ;-) What's that saying "Snooze you lose" You'll need to be quicker next time, or maybe ask Lewis to check with you both first if you need the toilet before he goes for his shower. We have a toilet and bath together so we always ask everyone if they need the bathroom before having a bath, it works for us <3

I'm just watching the end of the F1. Lewis Hamilton has just got up to 2nd place so it might get better before it finishes as it's not been up to much so far. I did feel sorry for Alonso though, he had a crash and was really lucky to walk away from it, there was hardly anything left of his car, so how he got out is anyone's guess :-S :-S :-S

Jane Report 20 Mar 2016 15:42

Ann,it sounds like you bought a lot of lovely things at the exhibition :-D..You will have to wear one of your new creations when we meet on the 6th :-D....Meal booked for 12.30 :-D
I don't think I could ever be a vegetarian.I can't imagine not having any meat.
Yuk Tripe !!!!!!!!!!!.Mum and Janice used to have that ,but Dad and I would have mince.
It made me feel sick just seeing the Tripe on the plate swimming in milk :-S.Is tripe still sold?

LOL Frank ,I can picture you and Ros with crossed legs waiting for Lewis to get out of the bathroom. You know what teens are like !!!.I am just glad we have the ensuite :-D
So Lewis is back again for Easter.Think you better have a word about how long he is in the shower LOL.Maybe he could have his shower a bit later after you and Ros have used the bathroom.

Its gone quite dark here now.The sun has definitely gone for the day. There are some pretty dark looking clouds about .I don't think we are forecast any rain though.

Gillx

Gillx Report 20 Mar 2016 16:19

The sun is still out here Jane if you'd like me to send you some :-D :-D

Thomas looks comfy on his new bed. Our cats didn't like the igloo type beds which is why I used a large box on it's side I then put a floor cushion on the side of the box that was on the floor so the cat wasn't covered to much, it also stopped any drafts going on her as she had arthritis, so was in pain if she got to cold. She loved it and was quite happy sleeping there.

Well, the F1 is finished now but my poor Lewis Hamilton didn't win, he came second to his team mate, so that's not to bad as there's only 7 points between them. I'm sure Lewis will catch up soon. He had a bad start to the race, so did well to make it to second place.

David Report 20 Mar 2016 17:50

Is tripe the lining of a cow's stomach or intestine? I've this old memory of
my Mother eating it raw with vinegar on.

Mel Fairy Godmother

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 20 Mar 2016 18:00

They both had a bad start to the race Gill and Vettel took off like a rocket. I don't know how Alonso got out of that mess his car was in. I hav'nt seen a bad crash like that for years. There was'nt much left of the car was there?

Good to see you have your licience David now you just have to find a car you can drive. Yes I think a blue badge would be in order for you both. I think you have to have something from your doctor though as I was going to get one for mum as she could'nt walk far but never did in the end. I think maybe I should have one now though!!!

I have been out in the garden for a while just picking up fallen leaves off the garden ropund the little puddle and before that I edged the rest of the path around my pond and now I just have to empty the wheelbarrow of the turf I cut off.

Ann sounds like you found lots of nice things to buy yesterday. I like the sound of the braclet that looks like scales.

I hav'nt had a pic of Thomas with his new bed???????????????????Why not???

Jane

Jane Report 20 Mar 2016 18:16

I think it is the lining of a Cow David ..Sounds gross :-S and it did look gross.Just the thought of it makes me cringe . Found a car yet? :-D :-D ;-)

Hello Everyone

Lovely day here but a bit colder now, I will be glad when the clocks go forward as it so light at six and Amy thinks its time to get up.She is our only boxer that has slept upstairs, all the others, apart from our first have been put with the older one when we brought them home as puppies and they have all bonded straight away but when we had Amy, Rosie had already died, she had a cage at this time and we had another in our static caravan for her'

I haven't been on the laptop for a couple of days but have just managed to read most of your posts.

That is good news David to get your driving licence, how long is it that you have been without a car?

Ann, it sounds like you have had a good spend up at the exhibition there must have been lots of choice.

Jane, cats are funny things when it comes to finding a sleeping place, Shadow has now taken to the cat hammock that I have attached to the upstairs landing, she spends most of her time up there at the moment, Toby's favourite spot is in the conservatory, there is a heater on in because I spend time in there watching all the birds and the squirrels first thing in the morning

Frank, I expect you are enjoying having Lewes to stay apart from the bathroom bit, fortunately we don't have that problem because of the downstairs cloakroom but the other toilet is in the bathroom. When we bought the house in 1988 all three sons were still living at home so it was one of the things we needed.

I have never had pigeon but during the war we used to have rabbit stew. I could quite easily be a vegetarian but the downside is I do like bacon and chicken.

Peter's youngest sister, Diane and her OH called in for a couple hours this morning on the way from Hastings to visit Bo, his eldest sister for a few days in Leominster there is 14 years between them, they are staying in a travel lodge as her bungalow only has two bedrooms. They had their little black Scottie dog, Angus with them, he wanted to stay because he doesn't like the car
.
Paul has just taken the Abbie & Becky back home. Abbie came for the day yesterday as well, she has an interview for college coming up soon.

Paul has just come back [ice hockey was yesterday] so he is staying for tea, pizzas and garlic bread.

Gill I hope you manage to find a shed that suits you and the builder is going to be helpful regarding the water etc.

Must feed the cats and put the oven on now. I hope everyone has a good evening we are watching the Night Manager later.

magpie Report 20 Mar 2016 18:38

Yes Anne, we're watching that, and really enjoying it! I've never had tripe! It's sounds quite disgusting, but one man's meat is another's poison!!
We have to be a bit careful on the bathroom front too, as we only have one loo these days in the shower room. Like you Gill, we always check before having a shower!!
We've had really lazy day and feel better for it. We had lunch at 3.30, so it'll just be porridge for us tonight.

Gillx

Gillx Report 20 Mar 2016 19:46

It sounds like it's all go at yours Anne, lots of family coming and going. I miss the hustle and bustle of family life. I spend most of my days on my own since OH got this job and Michelle moved out....it can get a bit lonely sometimes.

Yes Vettel did go a bit fast at the beginning of the race, although Lewis did have a bad start so maybe Vettel looked as if he was going faster than he actually was. I don't suppose it helped when they had to do another formation lap, it must of put a few of them off a bit, including Lewis.
It sounds like you've been very busy in your garden Mel. I'm looking forward to doing something with my garden this year, but don't want to make a start until the summerhouse has been done.

Sandra and I have just tried a Chinese marinade on the left over chicken from lunch with some baked potatoes. I bought the marinade last year and forgot all about it until today. Luckily it's not outdated until July. I bought it from Aldi and I'm sure it was less than a pound for three sachets in a box. Sandra said it tasted like the Chinese spare ribs we used to have years ago from the chippy, before the prices went to high. It was very tasty and well worth the money. I shall try it again with some diced beef I've got in the freezer soon. I noticed there was two different ones advertised on the box, so I might try those if Aldi have them.

I fancy some porridge now you've mentioned it Liz. I have some with blueberries in so might have some later. I've had some with cherries and apple in before, it's very tasty and only takes 2 minutes in the microwave. It comes in separate sachets and you can measure the milk out in the sachet too. So much easier than making it in a pan and not so much washing up ;-) ;-)

The voice is coming on now, Sandra loves that programme so I guess I'll be watching it with her. There's not much on TV at the weekends anymore, hope it improves soon. Masterchef starts on Wednesday, so that's something to look forward to.

Anne, I've been without a car since the injury, March 2013
I'd a Ford Focus at that time, it was put to use by someone working in my bungalow then. Subsequently sold, awaiting a replacement.

Morning all and evening Kim,

Beautiful day today with plenty of the yellow thing shining in the sky.

Oh called me just now to take a look up the top arch and there spreadeagled on the grass sunning itself was a huge red fox. It was stretched right out. As we watched it lifted its head then got up and walked away.

Thanks for Jane's pic of Thomas Gill. I have it twice now as Jane sent it to me also.

Lots of washing to do today, must take advantage of this nice weather while we have it. I also want to catch the post van before 11.15am when it goes.

Morning All

Our sun just seems to have gone in.I hope it comes out again as I have a line full of shirts and trousers and then I'll have a load of towels to go out.

Just got my appointment for Rheumatology on May 9th

Last night was funny.I had the programme on about The Life of Cats.I took a little video of Thomas watching it.It may well come through upside down as I took it on my phone and we all know for some reason every pic I forward from the phone comes out topsy turvy !!!!.

I will try and send it out later..But I have to go out now and get a few errands done.

It must have been lovely and warm Mel for the Fox to be sunbathing like that :-D

Frank

Frank Report 21 Mar 2016 11:32

Morning folks, evening Kim,

What a day yesterday, by the time I had cooked everything and got it on the table with Ros's help. I didn't feel at all hungry. The others all ate a good meal, and I just picked at mine. They say it's better when someone else has cooked it.

Ros went off at 9.15. this morning. She was going to strip John's bed and get it in the washing machine, before taking him in to hospital at 10.00 am. She was going back with Carolyn to help her with any choirs and hangthe washing out.

I decided to cut the back lawn this morning. I should have left it alone. I fell to my knees twice while doing it, and now feel like I could go to bed and streach out for a couple of hours.I must see if the lad in the village who does a bit of gardening, will come and do it for me, and check how much he will charge. I suppose once my knee has been sorted, I will be ably to do these jobe myself.

My apologies once again for not reading the posts.

We had sunshie and Blue skys, now it's overcast and the neighbour has put out a line of washing, So it's bound to rain !!!!

Frank

Frank Report 21 Mar 2016 12:30

Have had a glimse at the posts, Congratulations David for getting your licence. Now all you need is a car !!!

Both Ros and I have Blue badges, and if I remember I applied for mine online. I think it costs £10.00 for three years. I have found it helps when I go out with someone other than Ros for parking close by where I want to be,.

Ann, I knew you should have left your purse at home !!! Naughty Girl ;-) ;-) ;-) But I am sure you only bought what you know you wanted, and will use.

No photo of Thomas and his bed here either Jane. Out of sight out of mind !!!

Your for has a cheek lying full length in the garden Mel, It's a wonder he is alive to tell the tail.

What's this about a swimming pool Gill.?? Still no shed either. Have you tried ebay. you might well find one on there at a reasonable price, but remember to show how far you are prepared to travel to get it.

I use to eat pidgeon brests cooked it a think gravy, with mash and veg. I found they were a bit gamey, but not as strong as hare and pheasant. Rabbit Pie, Rabbit stew, fried rabbit. I do believe that in the dark days of the war. We ate rabbit everyway possible. Mum would cook in such a lot of ways, and I never got bored with it. If you didn't eat it you went hungry. One side of our Garden were Rabbit hutches, the other was chickens in their run. so we always had fresh meats and eggs. !!

it's turned out really miserable morning/afternoon here. No sign of Ros, so I will get my own lunch, and she can sort herself out if and when she comes home.

;-) ;-) ;-)

Been a fab day here, lots of sunshine and quite warm. We sat outside to have our coffee this morning. All the washing has dried a treat, and has now been put away. I've hoovered the whole bungalow, cleaned the bathroom, walked the dog, in fact as Frank says, done all the chores!
Having hard boiled egg salad tonight and fried potato, nice and easy!
