Afternoon All,
Thank you again for all your kind thoughts and we were lucky today that the rain held off till we disbanded after lunch and then it was only drizzle. The service was very nice and non religious the same as MIL's but we had a couple of hymns as before. The lady who took the service said OH's speech was very eloquent and he raised a chuckle when he described his dad liking anything mechanical and playing with the train set that was supposed to be OH's and OH hardly getting a look in! The buffet food was delicious as before and OH had taken some old photos to show neighbours and relatives that were of themselves many years ago! His cousin who had a hip replacement last October seems to be doing well and says she can walk without her stick now.
It does seem strange that in the space of less than 9 months they are both gone and also the house they lived in for 65 years. This time last year they'd only just had the stairlift put in.
OH has gone for an interview this afternoon...........the one he couldn't get to because of the floods before.
I often do that with the washer Mel and once you are comfy in bed you don't want to get out! Your easter wreath sounds lovely and I look forward to seeing a pic when you can do it.
Gill that's an advantage of a bungalow isn't it..........being able to swap the rooms around. That extra 10 inches of loft insulation should help keep your fuel bills down.
I was at the dentist's an hour and a half all told yesterday, just for a quick check up! I was in a calm mood though and it wasn't the dentist's fault, so I just said 'these things happen' to him.....very philosophical of me. lol
Frank how silly the council's rules are. Common sense doesn't seem to exist with these things nowadays.

Good afternoon all
Ann so pleased to hear everything went well with your OH's dad's funeral you were fortunate with the weather. I arranged a humanist funeral for Peter too as ex Catholics we are a non religious family now and I will want the same.
I have been very busy the last couple of days so haven't read all of the posts yet.
We had some sad news yesterday one of my nieces, Emma her partner's son aged 19 years committed suicide at the weekend apparently he had put a plastic bag over his head and filled it with gas he was living at home with his mother,so sad but it seems to be quite a common thing with young men these days.
I had to smile yesterday Shadow decided to come for a walk with Amy and I on the way back there were 2 ladies with their dogs who I often speak to.Shadow decided to stand her ground with the red setter when he tried to pass her, poor dog was terrified she is so tiny which made it so amusing. Amy just stood and watched.

Afternoon All
Ann,it sounded like it was a lovely service for FIL and I can imagine that Gordon is an excellent speaker.Thank goodness it wasn't pouring with rain.It is horrible having to stand in the rain outside a Crematorium waiting for the hearse to arrive.I have a feeling that a canopy has been built at ours now to shelter mourners in bad weather.I will find out on Tuesday when we go to Joan's funeral. At lot certainly has happened in the last 9 months for you both !At least now you will both be able to just think about yourselves ,and I hope the rest of this year will be stress free for you <3
Frank. How crazy is someone else has to come and look at what needs patching outside your place. You said it has been sprayed now.But why on earth could one of the men not taken a pic of it and sent it in to the department .Then they may well have been given the go ahead to just fix it then while the lorries and equipment were already on site !!!!!!!!!!!!!..What a total waste of Taxpayers money :-S :-S
I see up our road today that a big part of the hedge (going up the road) was being taken out :-( getting ready for where one of the roads will be coming through to join our road.It made me feel quite sad seeing it all being ripped out.
Gill you will soon feel the benefit of all that extra insulation in the roof :-D
Mandy that was lucky getting the last panel done before the rain.We haven't really had much rain to speak of so far today. It has just been a miserable grey day.Looks like the rain may be overnight...Just put Trouble out.It was just before 1am that he woke me !!!.I really think that soon if he keeps doing this I will just have to put him out when I go to bed. Chris is becoming increasingly cheesed off :-S
The Plumber came this morning and drained the cylinder reset the air space(whatever that is) and refilled .So we will just keep an eye on the overflow pipe again. He said if it continues then the Manufacturer willl have to be involved. At least the Tank has a 25 yr guarantee . Hey Ho whats new here where water is concerned LOL
Mel I bet your Easter wreath will look very pretty :-D and I am sure the children will be very pleased with whatever little gifts you will be leaving for them :-D :-D
Must go now but will BBL

Ann,I am so sorry to hear of the tragic death of your Niece's partners son.He was so young.Sadly it seems it is so common for young males to take their own lives.Just like my son's friend Johnny about 18 months or so ago.My thoughts are with his family right now. <3
How far does Shadow go with you on the walk? Is it the whole way? I would have loved to have seen the scene where the Red Setter wanted to get by :-D :-D.. She sounds a feisty little cat LOL..Bet she just gave the Setter ' that look' :-D Cats can do that can't they ..I know if I see a particular look in Thomas's eyes I know to give a wide berth :-D

Ann it sounded a nice service for FIL i'am glad it all went ok and the weather held out for you , you have certainly had a trying 9 months ,now you have the holiday to look forward too.
Oh Anne that's so sad and what awful way to die for that young man and only eighteen too with all his life ahead of him . That must have looked funny Shadow taking on a Red Setter ,they are scatty dogs my nephew had one called Oscar and he had a job to train him as he just had a mind of his own .
Oh that is an early call for Thomas and you !! i suppose you could leave him out at night now as the weather is not to bad with the lighter mornings and he can get in the summer house if he needs a doze . I had an early morning this morning i woke at quarter to four and do you think i could go off again, i had all sorts going through my mind ,i came down at five and made a cuppa so it will be an early night for me tonight .
No Liz for a couple of days ,hope all is well with them .

Well, well, well, I wouldn't believe I've found a few minutes to get on here and say hello to you all. I haven't forgotten you all and hope life has been kind to you. Before I go any further, nod off to sleep - or get called away - :-D :-D Happy Easter wishes to one and all of my GR friends :-D
I'm sorry I haven't been on to write anything but Carmel has gone from one dose of illness to another since Christmas and even on Sunday evening we found ourselves going out in the dark to the local hospital 'after hours' doctor service. So I'm hoping she will pick up soon, we get some better weather to enjoy and things will settle down over in Ireland with her brother Harry and his wife Deirdre. She has end stage dementia and has not got long to live but it is a long and torturous saga, that I don't want to go into or depress you with. Needless to say Carmel is very worried for her brother has he has had a lot of serious illnesses and ops over the preceding years and of course we worry how this will affect him. On a more positive note, Carmel's sister (Vera) is coming over from Ireland tomorrow with 'her fella', Brian, staying out Dorothy's but there is to be a 'family day' on Sunday, so that will be something good and positive to look forward to. Not only that , but she is bringing over with her for us some Irish sausages and some white pudding. I can hear the frying pan sizzling now ;-). Must make sure I have some mushrooms in. I think they are staying a week so no doubt one day they will come over here to spend some time which will be great. That's going to be all from me for now, I don't want to spoil you all :-S. I'll try and look in briefly tomorrow and hope that you all have a good and healthy weekend.

East Enders on, so I an out of the way.
Glad everything went off to plan Ann, and the weather held out for you.
We have had a drizzle afternoon, Ros said that it's raining now.
Anne, What is it with these children ?? I mentioned the other day about that lad who put a cord round his neck. It was a way of getting a HIGH. Alright if you can get out of it before you pass out.
The Tesco finest meals were total CR#P Ros threw hers away. I did eat mine but only because I was hungry. I won't be bothering with anymore of those. I will just carry on cooking my life away ;-) ;-)
Lewis will be here tomorrow evening so I will do him a Roast Pork dinner. He loves pork, but his Dad can't eat it, so he doesn't get it at home. !! . I must find a new deterant for the cats, Ros has worked so hard on the front garden, the last thing she needs is to see her plants dug up where the blighters dig their holes and leave their mess. :-( :-( I have tried HOLLY, Glass, pepper, twigs and wire netting, but they still find a way. These powders and sprays don't seem to make any difference. A DOG MIGHT BE THE ANSWER <3 <3 <3.
It's nice seeing a bit more light in the evenings, and will be even better SUNDAY with the clocks going FORWARD. don't forget.
Anne it sounds like your cat would be prepared to take on all commers. I felt sorry fot that poor dog ;-) ;-)
Master Chef just going to start, so I am off.

It is raining really hard here now. We had a stir fry for the evening meal quick and easy then with a COT choux buns with fresh cream. When Shadow joins us for a walk we can't go as far as usual because at the end of the path is "The Nine Mile Ride" a very busy road just a short walk along the adjoining path which we cross at the traffic lights that go into the forest so I can't have Shadow going that far although there is plenty of room between the path and the road, trees and rhododendron bushes etc The other side of the path is the grounds and car park of the Esporta club and at the very end is Coral Reef.
Jane I meant to say thank you for the video of Thomas but Mandy very kindly had already sent it to me.
I was wondering if Liz was ok to.
Good to hear from William, hope Carmel gets better soon. I hope they enjoy the company of their visitors.

That was good getting the fence finished Mandy and I bet it looks good now. A lick of paint covers any imperfections.
How sad about your niece's partner's son Anne. Such a shame these young men try these dangerous experiments, a young life ended before it's hardly begun.
The crematorium roof was built out to form a canopy over the hearse where it pulled up and where people stood before and after Jane. I think the newer crematoriums must be being designed like that now. As you say, there's nothing worse than standing out in the rain! They are ripping no end of hedges out here too. I find it sad as well, once they are gone they are gone for good. That was a very early wake up call for you Jane! He's got you very well trained, the little tinker! :-) Fingers crossed your plumbing is ok again now.
Nice to hear from you William and best wishes to Carmel. I hope she soon feels better. It sounds like the visitors will be a nice pick me up for you both. You must tell me what 'white pudding' is??
Off to bed now as we feel quite weary........night all!

I was just thinking today we hav'nt seen Liz on here for a few days.
I feel tired tonight and I hav'nt really sone that much today. I sometimes think if you are busy all the time you don't get tired??????? and when you sit around and don't do much you do!!
Terrible about the young lad taking his life like that. What an awful way to go. What is it that gets into their heads for them to end it all? I just don't understand. So sad...

Hope your mouse is working now Frank, if not, could you uninstall it and then re-install it back onto your computer, it might solve the problem? Sorry to hear you can't walk very far with your bad knee, hopefully Tony or Ros will take you to the pub, I'm sure they won't mind. Enjoy your time with Lewis over Easter. Just remember to use the bathroom before he gets in the shower LOL. It sounds like Tesco's own meals aren't that good. Not a patch on your home cooking ;-) ;-)
That was lucky getting the last fence panel painted before the rain started Mandy, Oat is a nice colour. The insulation is called Kingspan and is placed between battens on the inside of the walls then plaster boarded over and plastered. We have a single brick bungalow so no cavity, which means our bungalow can get very cold, if we heat the inside we get condensation on the cold outer walls. This way they'll be no condensation to worry about and means we can put furniture against outside walls without worrying about any damp forming. At the moment we don't put any furniture up against the outside walls.
Pleased to hear the weather stayed dry for FIL's funeral Ann. You've both had so much going on over the last 9 months. You'll now be able to go away and relax.
Sorry to hear about your nieces partner's son Anne, it's so sad. It sounds like the Red Setter was terrified of your little cat Shadow, the poor dog.
Hope the plumber has managed to fix your problem now Jane and you don't have to involve the manufacturer. Good job you have a 25 year guarantee on your tank. I think it might be a good idea to put Thomas out for the whole night, 1am is so early, you need your sleep and so does Chris.
Nice to see you back Will, sorry to hear Carmel hasn't been very well lately and hope she is feeling better soon. It sounds like you have some nice plans with your visitors to look forward to. I've never heard of white pudding either, is it like black pudding?
I think you're right Mel about being more tired the less you do, I had planned to watch Doctor Thorne (all three of them) this afternoon and didn't even make it to the first adverts before I fell asleep. I slept for hours on the sofa. Mind you I've been having lots of bad dreams lately which keep waking me up, so maybe I was tired because of that. I'll have to find some free time to watch Doctor Thorne again.
Off to bed now, see you all tomorrow Night Night

I've managed to persuade her to let me have it back so I can sign off and go to bed, but no doubt she'll play the game again tomorrow. Hope you and everyone else on here have a wonderful Easter <3

O what a beautiful morning, O what a wonderfull day......................................
Such a change from yesterdays miserable gloomy grey day we have bright sunshine anfd lovely blue skies with just a thin white cloud here and there.
Washing is on the line and when I woke up this morning I lay in bed watching two buzzards just floating on the thermals hig in the sunshine. They looked so gracefull.
Oh is outside doing something with the pond filters I think.
I am just about to do some toast and think I may have a little lemon curd on it this morning as like Frank My Mate seems to give me bad indigestion lately. I went on to Bovril but this curd is lovely..........mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

I've got a wonderfull feeling, Everythings going my way ................................
Blue sky's everywhere and the sun feels quite warm.
Ros cut her finger yesterday and the plaster came off during the night and there was blood spots all over her side of the bed. The sheets are in the wash, and I WILL BE ALLOWED TO PUT THEM ON THE LINE. She has taken Carolyn shopping, so won't be back for a couple of hours. I must make sure I hang them out right ;-) ;-) ;-)
I had a Egg and bacon sarnie this morning Mel. Lovely it was too.
I have got a joint of pork out of the freezer for Lewis's dinner tonight. Will do the veg later and get a pack of Apple sauce from the freezer also.
What's all the plans for the weekend folks. Glad Will has company coming, it might brighten Carmel up a bit. <3 <3
Jane there is no way that I would be getting upat 1.00 to let the cat out. PUT HIM OUT BEFORE BED He can get into the Summer House if he needs cover. Then you will be able to get unbroken sleep.
Still having problems with the mouse. I think it will be going out if it carries on miss behaving, and I will get another.
Washing machine is ready to empty, so I am off.

We've been busy bees the last few days so have not been around on line very much. Today is a lovely day, so I'm sitting outside just relaxing!! Apart from washing, I've done nothing this morning! Ian is planting some early potatoes, and then he's going to repair his winch (!!) which is apparently too long!! Jane, I echo the others, you can't let Thomas keep on disturbing your sleep like that!! Surely you could shut him overnight in the garage/summerhouse with his earthtray, and let him.out when you get up, or as Frank says, leave him out at night! as he lived rough all those months anyway he'd be fine. Cas is looking for a dummy that we've hidden in the barn under some hay! It keeps her happy for ages just sniffing till she finds it!! I'm glad Sandra liked the card Gill. I didn't realise that it had a game!! I must check another time!!

Hello everyone,
I hope you all have a very nice Easter and that the weather is kind to you. I remember my sisters and I parading our new clothes to church on Easter Sunday, and many older ladies wearing fancy hats covered with flowers. Church has always been part of my life.
I have been confined to my bed for several weeks with back problems, apparently due to the arthritis in my spine, but am now able to get around a bit.
When we had our old house Gill, we insulated the walls in the same way as you are going to do. It was a lot of work, almost like building over.
I have so enjoyed reading your posts during the past year or two. I am not going to renew my sub. this time but, if it's allowed, will continue to look in to see what you are all up to.
Best wishes to you all, Ruby XX

Afternoon All,
What a glorious day! It said 17 degrees in the car earlier. We have just had F&C at the village garden centre and very nice it was too. We called in the co-op on the way back for milk and bread, but we decided to get things for 'teatime' as well. In my case that was a meal deal and I had a chicken pesto pasta, raspberry jelly and real orange juice with the bits in. :-) After a rest for a while we are going to the local botanic gardens as I want to look in the alpine house there as lots of alpines flower quite early in the year.
We will be doing just that David! There are still one or two loose ends to be tied up, but we are just pleasing ourselves for a while now. We were going to alter the front garden to be even easier to maintain, have a summer house in place of the old shed but have decided it can all wait for a while.
I like the sound of your lazy day Liz! Cas sounds like a happy girl hunting for her dummy!
Yes Jane, Thomas has a thick coat to keep him warm so he should be fine outside.
Sorry to hear about your back troubles Ruby and I hope they continue to improve. You can still look at the posts on here if you don't renew, just not be able to post yourself. I shall miss your posts but we can all still keep in touch by email.

Afternoon all.
Ruby sorry to loose you, but I will continue to send you emails (jokes etc) I'm sorry to hear you haven't been well, and trust you will improve with the warmer weather <3 <3
Well I did didn't I ?? Took the washing in the basket down to the lawn and tripped on the steps. I have jared my knee and right hip. I did manage to get the washing out, but the sheets were the wrong way round. Ros has been out and altered them now. She has bought in the other things that were dry.
I am using my stick to get around, so as not to put any strain on my hip, that's hurting more than my knee.
I think I will lay on the floor for a while. then when I want to get up Ros will be here to help.
Liz what a great idea of keeping Cas busy, sniffing out her toy. Jane wants to do that with a dead rabbit for Thomas ;-) ;-) ;-) ;-)
More fluffy clouds around now, but still pleasent to be out in.
