Suns still out chicken is in the run with the others and walking about on her knuckles as her foot is still curled up but she is nattering away to herself and eating grass and plantain leaves. She did'nt want to be in her box in the sunshine.

Oh dear Frank! The sooner you get that knee seen to the better. Do try and be extra careful, perhaps you should leave things like hanging washing till you're a bit more mobile. How do you hang a sheet the wrong way?!! I just shove them on the line with four pegs and leave it at that!!! :-D.
It's getting a bit cloudy here, but we're still sitting out! We had lunch at lunch time, smoked mackerel (it's Good Friday!) Fried potato and salad. Tonight it'll just be scrambled egg. Son has finished knocking his kitchen into the dining room. They've knocked a half wall so need a wooden plank to make a cover. Ian's managed to find what son needs, so next week he'll be over with measurements to have a look and have supper with us, which is always something to look forward to.
Cas is now looking in the hedge!! She's had such a busy day and should be kn#####d by this evening!!

Afternoon All

Oh Ruby we will be sorry not to have you with us after your subs run out.Yes i think you will should still be able to see what we are all up to :-D..But please do keep in touch .
I am sorry to hear that you have been confined to bed for so long with a painful back,That must have been miserable for you. I hope that you are well on the mend again now <3 <3

I know I should put Thomas out at night especially now the nights ar not so cold. You are all totally right. He has the Summerhouse and a bowl with dried food out there. But I have never had a cat that went out for the night.I must be tough and not such a softie.
It would be nice not to have to get up in hte early hours every night and come downstairs to let him out.I can honestly say though that I don't actually mind,as I am usually up for a wee anyway at some point in the night so I go then :-)

I have come in a huge rash all around one side of my neck !Chris noticed it when I went outside to sit in the sun as I had put on a summer top.It looks horrible. It isn't itchy. The only thing I can think of that might have caused it was when I cut the stems of some Tulips that I bought this morning.I don't really know.It is just odd that it is just on the one side.Maybe I scratched my neck while I was cutting the stems.it is a mystery :-S

William ,I hope that Carmels health improves. It sounds as though it has been a bit of a difficult time for you both <3 I hope the visit from Carmels Sister today will cheer her up.

What a lovely day to visit the Botanic Gardens Ann.I expect it will be quite busy there today.Everyone seems to be out and about by the amount of traffic that was on the roads this morning.

Fitz will be calling in soon .He is coming to pick up the flowers I have bought for Georgettes birthday which is tomorrow.I have a feeling that her family from Somerset are coming to stay for a few days.

Frank, has the blood spots come out from the sheet?Blood I find is one of the worst things to get out.
James washed a new white shirt (that he bought for the funeral on Wednesday)...and guess what.....some dirty bird has gone and pooped on it.So it is back in the washing machine !!! I took his black tie in to the dry cleaners yesterday. The last time he wore it was for Johnny's funeral but it looked pretty mucky.Chris has a black one he could borrow but it is apparently too narrow.
I must sort out what to to wear for Joans funeral on Tuesday.

Mandy ,your Sister will love the Lavender Tree :-).I think that is a really nice present.
We have lots of Lavender in our garden.Happy Birthday to your Sister <3

Mel ,I can't remember the last time I had Lemon Curd.It must be years. It is not my favourite thing but I think we used to have a fair bit of it when I was little.

Liz is Cas stil hunting for the Dummy? What a great idea hiding it :-D :-D

I have just taken a Zirtec as I have started scratching my neck. The rash has spread a little further :-S :-S

No Jane, she's got another game going with her ring!! She tosses it in the air, runs up and down with it and is at the moment hiding it in the syringa bush and climbing around trying to find it!! She plays a lot on her own, which is a bit sad sometimes! like an only child!!!!!. Ian has just gone up for Merlin then it's time for a COT!!

It sounds, which I know it isn't, that Cas is a poor lonely little girl. Having to play with herself. You and Ian spend so much time with her Liz, thatI know she must be a very HAPPY little girl <3 <3 <3

What are we going to do with you Jane. ?? That naughty Thomas has you just where he want you doesn't he. Have you thought of asking Chris to do a shift or two. don't answer that

:-P :-P :-P ;-) ;-) ;-)

I am totally peed off with this cursor jumping about like a fiddler's elbow, I have had to correct so many things while typing this.

What a beautiful warm day it's been ,we sat out this afternoon and the sun was hot on my shoulders i had to turn away from it ,now it looks like it's all down hill and will be a wet weekend, shame as the little ones love the easter egg hunt in the garden .

Oh dear Ruby there's nothing worse than back pain i hope it soon feels better so you can enjoy your Easter ,we will miss your posts .

William i hope the family visit will give Carmel a much needed boast and that she soon feels better , i have never heard of white pudding before so i had a goggle LOL
I don't think it would be for me though .

I wonder what the rash is Jane, might be as you say you've touched some thing ,tulips do have that syrupy sap when you cut them ,hope the Zirtec helps so your not to itchy .

Frank i think you will have to get rid of those steps and have a slope instead ,you always seem to be tripping on them ,or could you have a rail put up so you have some thing to hold on to as you go down , i hope the hip and knee don't give you to much pain .

Gillx Report 26 Mar 2016 08:47

Morning all

Dull day here today with a bit of light rain, not a patch on yesterday, it was lovely and sunny and quite warm too.

I spent the whole day with OH, Sandra and mum yesterday, so didn't get a chance to come onto the thread. We went to a garden centre and mum bought herself a lovely water feature with squirrels and lights on, so OH set it up for her, then we came back here and I made a lamb roast with all the trimming. Mum said she doesn't have roast very often as she lives on her own and a joint is to big for one person, so she was happy I invited her to join us. She didn't have an Easter egg as she'd already eaten hers last week, so I took her to the shop to choose one as we all had one and I didn't want her to feel left out.

Mum said that she was going to pay for OH and I to go and see the British F1 as she had seen a short break advertised, but it would of cost almost £500 which I thought was a lot for our 50th birthdays, so she said she would give us £50 each, one pound for every year we've been alive, which we all agreed on. She is a pensioner on her own and it wouldn't of felt right if she'd have spent £500. We're going to use the money towards the garden, as we are looking at doing something with it this year, so it'll come in handy for all the trees we're hoping to buy and it'll be something we can see year on year.

Happy belated birthday wishes to your sister Mandy, I've never seen a lavender tree either. I bet she was thrilled with it :-) :-)

Sorry to hear Ros has cut her finger Frank, how did she manage that? Hope it's better today and has stopped bleeding, does it need stitches, it must be quite deep by the sounds of it? Hope you are feeling better today after your fall yesterday.

Yes there is a game shown after we viewed the card Liz, finding groups of eggs in various colours, there are 10 levels and Sandra managed to get to level 5 on her first attempt, unlike me who only got to level 4 :-( :-(
It sounds like Cas is enjoying her game of finding the dummy, bless her <3

Sorry to hear you are leaving us Ruby, I hope it's not for long. I think you can view the thread without a subscription, but can't post on it. I'm glad to hear your back is starting to feel a little better <3

I love lemon curd Mel, although I haven't had it for ages. I quite fancy some now you've mentioned it. Shall put it on my shopping list for next week :-D

I hope the rash is a bit better today Jane, it sounds like you might be right and it's the tulips. Is Thomas letting you sleep more or is he still getting you up at silly o'clock?? He really will be okay outside, after all he managed alright before he found you didn't he?
The clocks are altered tonight, so there'll be more daylight now.

What is it you've making Mel???? Hope the children like them, whatever they are.

I'm off to watch the three Doctor Thorne's now, I fell asleep last time I tried to watch them.

Hope everyone is enjoying their Easter <3 <3 OH is back in work now, so I'll have a quiet weekend to catch up on all my programmes.
See you all later

Gillx Report 26 Mar 2016 09:29

I've just seen the weather forecast for Bank Holiday Monday and there is a storm on it's way called "Katie" it looks as if it's down south so batten down the hatches Mel, then it makes it's way north east, so some of you might get it too. It's going to be very windy, they say it could get up to 60-70 mph with lots of rain and might even reach us, so I won't be pegging any washing out that day. Have we ever had a bank holiday Monday that has actually been nice ????? :-( :-(
I was hoping to go out that day as OH is off work, but I don't think I'll bother now.

Frank Report 26 Mar 2016 10:44

, Morning All, Evening Kim.

Not a nice day here either, very cloudy with a wind this morning.

Ros has taken Lewis to his Saturday job in Milton Keynes. As she is there she thought she might hav a nose around the shops and Market before coming home. She will have to go back for 4.30 to pick him up.

I bought a slicer for carrots and other pointed veg. You put the carror in and press it down as you turn the thing, and it cuts the carrot in twirles. Silly Ros had her hand round the cutting blade and took a slice out of the back of her finger.. It's alright this morning.

I have considered putting a hand rail down the steps. I have one from the conservatory to the patio. I don't suppose it helped having a basket full of washing in my hands. !!! ;-) ;-) ;-)

The knee gave way this morning as I went into the kitchen. I feel against the door frame, so another nice bruise on the way. :-P :-P

What did you do with Thomas last night Jane ?? Tell the truth <3 <3 <3.

What a surprise I have last night when Lewis arrived. He bought the "RAG DOLL CAT" with him for the weekend. Her legs and face :are getting darker and darker. She looks totally beautifull. She's sitting on a cushion on the chair under the table. I will try to get a photo. and ask Lewis if he can help me send yesterdays garden ones and the cat.

That was a very kind offer from your Mum Gill. but as you say £500.00 is a lot of money from an OAP. I should know, I have just shelled that out for Lewis's 18th Birthday present. He wants us to take him to see it on Monday. It's at his uncles which isn't far from here. But if the weather is going to be as bad as you say, I can't see me standing looking at a car. I think I have seen enought over the pass 30 years being in the Motor Trade.

RAINING NOW. and the wind is getting up !!! Going to lock the door and get showered and shaved. You never know who's around, so you can't be to carefull.

Morning all and evening Kim,

What a difference a day makes,
24 little hours.............................................................................

Oh looked out the window this morning while doing the washing up and said to me "what song does it remind you of today?" Thats what he came up with. Very apt. :-(
Yet another wet and windy Easter.

Hope you all get lots of eggs.

Gill mum gave me £50 for my 50th birthday and oh and I got engaged.

Hope Ros's cut is healing now. I bet it was on a crease on her finger and thats why it kept bleeding.

I have just asked oh to download my camera so you may be lucky to see what I have been making.

Thanks to Liz for the lovely pics of Cas and Ian.

Gillx

Gillx Report 26 Mar 2016 11:23

Those slicers are quite sharp aren't they Frank? That must of hurt Ros, hope she's feeling a bit better today and it's healing well. I don't blame you for not wanting to stand around in bad weather Frank and like you said you've seen lots of cars over the years. Yes, that was my thought as well, £500 is such a lot of money and to be honest I wouldn't of felt comfortable excepting such an expensive gift even if it's something I would of loved to have gone to. Buying some trees or plants for the garden will give us years of pleasure as we watch them grow and mature.
So you have another animal at your place Frank? I'd love to see a pic if you get one and the garden ones too if they can be sent.

I hope your OH can download your camera, so we can all see the pictures of what you've been making Mel :-)

I love the close up pic of Cas Liz, she really isn't camera shy at all is she? She didn't take her eyes off the ring either, by the looks of it. You and Ian must have so much fun with her <3 <3

The wind is picking up here now, so different from yesterday. At least we didn't get the minus 14 degrees they predicted a few weeks ago.
Sandra is hoping the weather improves and stays nice for her birthday next month as we've said we'll take her to the zoo if it's not raining. If the weather is bad on the day then we'll take her somewhere else and go to the zoo when it's sunny. I just hope the weather is kind to her as it's not the same having a birthday day out when it's not actually your birthday. She's asked me to take my camera, I just hope it works as it's been playing up a bit recently. My camera can take video's as well, so that should be nice for her to look back on once we get home.
Finger's crossed for sunshine that day ;-) ;-)

Going to carry on watching Doctor Thorne now

Anne Report 26 Mar 2016 13:15

Good afternoon everyone

After a lovely day yesterday it's now wet, windy and quite cold.

Sorry that you are leaving us Ruby and I hope your painful back soon gets better

Liz. love the pictures of Cas playing with Ian she is a lovely girl isn't she..

Frank I would love to see the photos of Lewis's rag doll cat and you and Ros's
garden, sorry to hear that you have tripped over again you are lucky that there are no broken bones.

Jane I can understand how you feel about Thomas being out all night, our two have a cat flap now but can only access the kitchen at night. My previous two cats didn't have that and if they weren't in used to stay out all night but at least Thomas has the summer house to go to. I hope your rash is easing off, I use E45 cream which helps.

Gill what date is Sandra's birthday? Do you go to Chester zoo or is there a nearer one.

I'm just going to fry up some mushrooms and tomatoes to have on toast for lunch. I cooked Richard a big breakfast before he left to go to the cinema he is meeting up with David, less than a week now before he moves in.

Gillx

Gillx Report 26 Mar 2016 14:20

Sandra's birthday is the 28th April Anne. Yes it's Chester Zoo we're hoping to take her too. I really hope the weather is sunny as most of the zoo is outside so if it's raining we'd all get very wet, which is why we decided to take her on another day if the weather is bad. There has been a programme on TV about Chester Zoo that she has been watching, I recorded it for all three of us to watch so still have a few on the planner while we wait for OH to have time off work so we can watch them together. Sandra absolutely loves animals, especially the cute, small, fluffy, ones and can't wait to go to the zoo.
We haven't been for years so it should be a nice treat for her.

Yes, not long now before David moves in, have you got everywhere ready for him. How long is he staying with you, or don't you know yet?

MillymollyAmanda Report 26 Mar 2016 15:05

Afternoon all,

Dry here so far but very windy ,son came this morning to put the new posts and fence panels up ,it didn't go very well as the old posts hubby put in for the old panels were concreted in and they are taking a heck of a time to get out so they have decided to leave it until next week when they can hire a breaker for the concrete , family stayed for lunch and have now gone home .

I see Ancestry is free again all over the week end for any one to search .

Gill what a nice thought of your mum offering to pay for you to see the British F1 , but you will have as much pleasure seeing all the new trees and plants growing over the years ,£500 is a lot of money.

Another lovely photo of Cas Liz, i hope you have a spare ring in case that one gets lost ,she would miss it dreadfully i it did get lost .

Not long before you have your new lodger then Anne , will he be easy to feed ? i suppose you need to find out what he likes for his meals .

Gillx

Gillx Report 26 Mar 2016 15:29

What a shame you couldn't put the new fence up after all your hard work painting them Mandy. Would it be possible to move the new posts along slightly to avoid the concrete from the original posts, then if the original posts are wood you could cut them off at ground level. Just a thought but it might save you an awful lot of work, not to mention the cost of hiring a breaker and the time it would take to remove the old posts and concrete?

I'd love to have lots of different types of trees in our garden Mandy. I saw someone do that on TV with conifers and it looked lovely. I had no idea how many different types of conifers were available, in all sorts of colours and shapes and they do look lovely all put together with the bigger ones at the back coming down to the smaller ones in the front. The couple who's garden it was had kept most of them cut to a certain height, rather than letting them just grow and it was really effective and colourful all year round. They then had boarders in front of them with all sorts of shrubs and flowers and a circular lawn in the middle. It was beautiful :-) :-)
I'd like to do something similar to that, but keep the trees to the bottom end of the garden so the roots don't end up breaking the drains.

You are lucky having the dry weather Mandy, it's really dark here and raining, although the wind has died down a bit. It's quite warm though, so that's not to bad.
I just noticed that Ancestry have their records open until Monday so I'm just about to take a look now I've finished watching Doctor Thorne. I was going to do some gardening today but with the weather the way it is, I'll stay indoors and do some of my family tree instead :-) :-)
Oh my word, the heavens have just opened with the rain, it's like a monsoon out there. In the space of a couple of minutes there is now a massive puddle on my patio :-( :-( :-(
At least I won't have to water the garden now, thanks to mother nature ;-)

Going to check out Ancestry now, be back later <3

Gill i said to hubby why carn't they move the new posts forward but he said they needed to be in the same place so they meet up to the pillar of the brick wall we have down the side of the garden and it would leave a gap .

Gill did you see gardeners world i think it was last week or it might have been the week before they were talking about trees for the garden ,there's trees for any type of garden even small gardens .

Oh so you have the rain now it's still dry here but the sky doesn't look to good it keeps going quite dark ,we have lit the fire and have the lights on ,how different from yesterday when we were sitting out in the warm sunshine .

Anne that time went quickly with your lodger looming on the horizon now.

Its been lashing rain and so windy here it nearly blew me away when I went to the shop. Then I went down the church to take the things down there and forgot to take the easter Wreath thing for the door. Saw a friend down there with her four Jack Russells, thought she only had three but she has just got another one and he is 11 months old.

Came back home for the wreath and had a job to get it to sit right on the door. Not aloud to make a hole in the church door for a hook so have to wire it to the door studs. Not an easy job and it took me ages but I got there in the end. Then I did lunch but I hav't washed up yet as I did the daily challenges of cards, mahjong and jigsaws.

Afternoon all,

Still very wet and windy here. Ros has gone off to pick Lewis up, an will call in and get the takeaway for them and F & C for me on the way home. That will save another trip out tonight.

Ros got home in time to take me to the pub. First time out in a week. Had a couple of pints and a chat with the lads. Rang Ros and she collected me. Had a nice roll and salad, and watched an old film.

Mel I have cleaned the mouse, but still the blighter is playing up.

Gill I went to Chester zoo in 1966 when I was at Ellesmere Port. I bet it's changed a bit since then.

John and Carolyn are coming for dinner tomorrow. So I will be busy in the morning preparing all the veg. and the Leg of Lamb. Has anyone tried lamb with Ginger Beer ??? Don't fancy it some how. I see Rick Stein has cooked it with Larger !!! I think I will stick with the traditional roast. I know where I am with that.

The wind and rain is lashing against the conservatory windows, so I won't be moving anywhere tonight.

Not the best weather for putting posts and panels in Mandy. <3 <3 <3 ;-) ;-) ;-)

I must see if I have time to look on Ancestry over the weekend. I haven't looked at my tree for ages.
