Frank Report 10 Apr 2016 11:35

I just had a post dissapear. (up the chimney)

Good morning all, Evening Kim,

I was up at 6.30 this morning, mind you I was in bed by 10.30 last night. All vegetables done, pudding mix ready and CHEESE SAUCE. Leg of pork salted and oiled ready for the oven. Apple sauce out of freezer. So all tickerty boo.

Ros stripped the bed this morning and got it in the washing machine. She then rang Corolyn to tell her to get her beds stripped and in the wash, and she would pop roung and peg them out. She has just come back.

Liz what a terrible accident, there does seem to be quite a few of these falling down stairs. Pleased that she hasn't any broken limbs, I bet she will be bruised for a few days.

I managed to get to the pub yesterday. Tony didn't appear, so I guess he had to look after Val. (about time) !! Just as I arrived two minibuses arrived with about 20 Bristol Rovers supporters, calling in for food and drinks on there way to the Northampton ground. So the pub had a busy lunchtime,

I hope your lunch goes well today Jane, with your family. Don't drink to much.

That sounds a good idea with the stickers Gill. Sandra will be over the moon when it'sall done for her.

I am sure Max will have every home comfort once he arrives at Mandy's. All those toys, cuddles and plenty of playing with the children.

Mel tell the OH to be carefull his boat might end up at the bottom of the pond with all this bad weather. I see two fishermen were lost at sea in Scotland on Friday. One rescued and one still missing.

Did anyone see that youg gorl on B G T. what a lovely voice she had, I am sure she should go a long way with the right coaching

Coffee time for me, before I start getting dinner on for 2.30 lunch.

Frank oh took the boat out of the pond last night as the wind was forcast and he did'nt want it to capsize!! It's sitting on it's stand in his study till the wind drops.

Iv'e got the rad on...........................................................my knees and legs are nice and warm but I think I will put my sleeveless on as my backs cold.

O Liz what a todo but I suppose it is easily done. I am so pleased you were there when it happened. Good too that the person who looks after Merlin could go the next day otherwise you would have been worried about him too and torn in two directions at once. Have you heard from your daughter today yet to know how she is fareing? I hope she is not too bruised :-S

Gillx Report 10 Apr 2016 12:14

We recorded BGT Frank so will look forward to watching her tonight. I was going to do a roast lamb today but decided to do a chicken instead and wait until next weekend when OH is off work to have the lamb as there is a bit to much for just Sandra and I. Your meal sounds nice, I love pork.
Yes, I'm hoping to make Sandra's room really pretty for her once everything is unpacked and put away. We're almost there sorting her stuff out and once I've swapped the wardrobes over she should be able to get more stuff in there, so we might not need the extra cupboard after all.
I'm going to try and take some of the boxes out of the other room so we can swap the wardrobes over tomorrow while OH is off work, otherwise it'll be Friday when he's off again. I can't get to the wardrobe until I've moved the boxes.

So sorry to hear about your daughter Liz, good job you were there. How are the children today, it must of been a shock for them seeing their mother like that? I expect your daughter will be sore for a few days but at least there were no broken bones which is good. When I had a house I used to have two hoovers one upstairs and one downstairs and I used a hard brush on the stairs, then hoovered the bits once they were at the bottom, it was so much safer. You were lucky you had someone to look after Merlin. Did he look after Cass too, or was she with you?

Just over 24 hours to go before you collect Max, Mandy. I wonder if you'll get much sleep tonight with the excitement of it all <3
I think the rest of us are just as excited as you are and can't wait to hear all about him....
We'll have to start a Diary for Max on here LOL :-D :-D

No Cas was with us Gill, so no problem with her! Yes I've talked to her this morning and she's a bit battered but ok now. I used to have two Hoover's as well Gill, when we had a house, it's much safer than carrying them up and down stairs!
Nothing much doing here today. Beef for lunch, a walk, then a snooze!!

Afternoon all,

Bright and sunny here ,we sat out and had coffee and it was lovely and warm with not a breath of wind .

Does sound as if you will be getting plenty of wind your way today Mel , the girls won't like the wind ruffling their feathers .

Oh dear Liz your poor daughter falling down the stairs from top to bottom it was lucky you were there to get help for her and sort things out , these things happen so quickly she was lucky she didn't break any bones i do hope she isn't to battered and bruised .

So your gradually getting things sorted then Gill ,what a shame about the ottoman not being strong enough to hold Sandra's bits and pieces , but at least you can use it for your things .

Sounds as if you've been busy getting things ready for your meal Frank , i hope they all enjoy it .
Yes i saw that young girl on BGT what a voice for some one so young ,i'am sure she'll go far .

Jane hope you enjoy your meal with the family too .

Poor hubby was up in the night with sickness and diarrhea so he's not feeling the best this morning .

That was lucky you had Cas with you Liz, was she okay with the ambulance people? Glad to hear your daughter is okay now, she'll feel a bit sore for a while though, lucky for her she didn't do herself anymore harm than she did.

Sorry to hear your OH had a bad night Mandy, has he tried Imodium, that's good for an upset tum? not sure if will help the sickness though. He should drink plenty of cooled boiled water or he could end up dehydrated. Hope he feels better soon :-)

We're down to the last few boxes of Sandra's now, so should have it all boxed off this afternoon......pardon the pun LOL :-D :-D

It doesn't look as if we'll need to swap the wardrobes over now as we've managed to put some of her personal things, photo's, old school stuff etc.. in boxes under her bed. Because we're not swapping the wardrobes I'm going to use another spare wardrobe to put the Christmas tree and decorations in as there's only a shelf at the top, plus it has two doors so I won't have to rebox any of it, otherwise, with the other wardrobe being a corner one, I would of had to put the decorations into smaller boxes so they'd go through the one door that's on it.

So all in all a lot less work for me to do, which I'm pleased about. I can also take my time sorting the rest of the boxes out as they are all in the other room.
I can finally see the floor of the back room, now all Sandra's things are out of there ;-) ;-)

We're sorting the last of her boxes out in the living room as Sandra wants to watch the final of "The Voice" I recorded for her last night. We're going to wait for OH to get in from work then we'll watch BGT as he likes that programme.

Oh heavens yes Gill, Cas is good with everyone! Actually she was popped into her cage, and stayed in the utility room along with daughters dog. They're both very placid friendly dogs; we wouldn't have dogs that were even slightly aggressive.
Have had a lovely lunch, and we're just off out fo a walk! This wind is quite trying!!

Mel Fairy Godmother

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 10 Apr 2016 15:32

I had put some washing out but oh brought it back in as it kept winding itself around the line when it was'nt blowing straight out level with the line adn threatening to blow across the orchard.

Gillx

Gillx Report 10 Apr 2016 15:34

Sorry Liz I didn't mean she was aggressive, I thought Cas may of been frightened of the ambulance people, with her being nervous around the other dog not so long ago. I thought she was a bit timid and was shy around animals and people she doesn't know. I'm pleased she was okay to stay in the utility room with your daughters dog though.
I'm seriously thinking of getting another pet as I miss our cats. It's been over three years since our last cat passed away and both Sandra and I love animals.

Sandra's starting doing the countdown to her birthday now.....bless her. We have a plan "B" just in case the weather is to wet to take her to the zoo. We have planned a shopping day as she wants some new shoes and clothes and she could also do with a new pair of trainers, so she may end up doing that on her actual birthday if it's raining, then we'll take her to the zoo when there's a nice day for it.
If the weather is good and we go to the zoo, we'll take her shopping another day instead. Either way she'll have two treats, which she is looking forward to.

Sandra got her glasses the other day and has been really good wearing them and even said that she is going to take them with her to the zoo, which I was surprised about with her being a bit self conscious about them. She said she would be able to see the animals properly if they were far away, so at least she's knows that she needs them now. I must admit she looks very grown up wearing them. She's always looked very young, which she hates, so I think with me saying how grown up she looks it's encouraged her to wear them :-) <3

Gillx Report 10 Apr 2016 15:44

Don't you just hate that Mel when the washing wraps itself around the line? You're in and out all the time and if the worse happens and it gets blown off the line all together, you end up having to wash it all again. Do you have a dryer, if it's to windy to leave it outside you could use your dryer instead?

magpie

magpie Report 10 Apr 2016 16:13

Oh that's ok Gill. Sorry, I got the wrong end of the stick! Cas isn't nervous of people at all, she was only apprehensive of Jasper because he is very big!! We didn't make anything of it and she was fine by the time they went.
Ian is making us a cuppa when we're going to watch 'Follow the money' on catchup.

Mel Fairy Godmother

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 10 Apr 2016 18:36

Yes Gill I have a dryer but don't use it unless I have to. The uti room is quite warm as the chest freezer is in there so I hang things on an airer in there.

The wind is stillhigh and I just went round to the girls to see if I could get them in but they want to stay out. The old girl has'nt moved in her box tody at all but has herself wedged in the corner so I have had to hold the food for her today this morning and this evening and hold the drinker up for her to drink. I don't think she is going to make it.

Gillx

Gillx Report 10 Apr 2016 19:14

How old is your old girl Mel? It does sound like she doesn't have much time left, the poor thing. She's lucky to have you to look after her <3
I'm the same Mel, I don't like using the dryer unless I have to, there's nothing worse than having to use the dryer on a sunny day because it's far to windy to peg the washing out. You are lucky you have somewhere to air your washing, I'm not so lucky in that department.

That's good news how Cas is okay with people, some animals aren't and only feel comfortable around people they know. Can I ask Liz, what is "Follow the Money" I've never heard of that?

Sandra and I are now catching up with Masterchef, we like programmes like that. Sandra is on the last of her things, she is just checking all her pens and throwing away the ones that have run out, then she's done. She has worked so hard these past few days, but I think she's had enough now and is glad it's almost finished. She should be done in about 10 minutes, then I'll help her put it all away in her room. We've got lots of empty boxes now and loads of things for the charity shops, not to mention the four big bags of rubbish. Luckily the recycling bin goes out tonight, ready for collection tomorrow, then it'll be my turn to fill it back up again ;-) ;-)

It's a Danish crime thriller on BBC 4 on Saturday evenings Giill, about financial espionage. We watch a lot of those as we both enjoy those sort of programmes.
Scrambled eggs tonight, quick and easy!

Evening All,

What a nasty fall your daughter had Liz and she was lucky not to knock herself out by the sound of it. It is so easily done though and fortunately it sounds as if she got off without too much damage. Hopefully the children will be extra careful themselves on the stairs too now. I think I've said before about my sister's friend who is paralysed from the waist down after a stair fall, also a chap I worked with who's cleaner found him at the bottom of the stairs. He was unable to work after and was still wearing a neck brace 2 years later. There's something to be said for bungalows!

I went to a garden centre not too far away from where the funeral will be tomorrow and went to see where the church is. It is a long way down a single track lane that is a dead end and knowhere to turn around or park. I think I shall have to park in the village somewhere and walk and just hope that too many others won't be doing the same!

What a shame about the ottoman Gill. Maybe you could have nailed a sheet of hardboard on the bottom to strengthen it........but I see you have sorted something else out now. You never seem to stop do you, I feel tired just thinking of all you manage to do!! :-S

Mandy, I have had to go on an RAF base before now and know what you mean about the security!!! Not long to wait for young Max now. He's got quite a day tomorrow hasn't he, injection, microchip and a new home!!!

The old girl doesn't sound good does she Mel? All you can do is carry on doing your best for her and keep her comfy. Has the 'boat' been sailed today? We haven't had any of your wind here yet. It's been mostly sunny today.

Frank, OH tells me that he was watching the Blisworth footie team yesterday at Daventry and how well they are doing!!

I'm looking forward to The Durrells that's on soon. :-)

No Ann the boats been in dry dock all day in his study.

I don't know how old the old girl is but its at least 2 and a half years since I had the last lot of hens from the waitrose place just up the road.

I still don't understand Undercover and think I will give up on it. Its a bit too loud for me and I don't like the vilance (sp) Going to watch the Durrells on catch up.

That's a pity Mel, as it promises to be very good. The chaps an undercover Police Officer who infiltrated political activists in the 19990's, was given enough a new identity, but unfortunately has fallen in love and married a human rights lawyer. She's now landed a top job which will undoubtedly include defending historic cases! Will hubbys true identity be revealed?!! Probably, and then eeeek!!! Can't wait for the next episode!
Nasty wet morning here, so better get on as we're busy bees today.

Morning and Woof Woof

Mandy just think that in about 5 hours time you will be back home with a cute little bundle of puppy :-D :-D :-D

Liz ,how is your daughter today? What a nasty thing to happen to her.Thank heavens it was just bruising and a nasty shake up.I bet she will be aching all over though after such a tumble.

Mel ,Chris said for me to make sure to tell you that he saved a Bumble Bee yesterday with your method :-D..Luckily I had told him about you using the Daff head and the sugared water :-D :-D

We had a lovely day yesterday .The Lamb was so tender.Twas Perfect :-D..Janice went home with the bone and all the scraps of meat.

I thought the Durrells was rather slow and boring last night.I do hope it picks up a bit.
Undercover is getting better and better :-D :-D

I haven't read all the posts yet from yesterday. That will have to be later as I am nipping into town soon to get a few bits.Chris has just left to go to Cambridge to see some Drawing Exhibition.

Ann I hope the funeral goes well today and that you manage to get up to the church without too much trouble.

Must fly now.
