Afternoon all,

Gill, if you are not moving now, why don't you dispose of all your empty box's ?? If you need any again, there are always plenty in the supermarkers and garden centres.

Anne, we find skype very usefull. We speak with our son in Spain every few days, also his partner in Devon. The reception was bad yesterday to Devon so Ros used the phone. Which can be expensive if you are not carefull.

Landscape gardeners can be very expensive Gill. My brother had quotes for tis tiny garden years ago. The price would have blown your ming. Needless to say he did it himself.

Ros has painted the bathroom ceiling and inside of the door. I wanted to do it, but she insisted that I wasn't capable at the moment. Made me feel compleatley useless. ;-) ;-)

Hows the BABY Mandy, ??

It's playing upagain, so I am OFF. !!!

We will be getting rid of the boxes Frank, but I'd like to keep a few of the smaller ones so I can use them for storage under the beds, it's so much easier to pull a box out to be able to see things, rather than rummaging through things in such a small dark place, so for now we're keeping hold of some of the boxes until everything has a new home. OH had a look at the platforms for the loft at B&Q yesterday, the ones the surveyor told us about and they are just flimsy plastic things that wouldn't hold any weight, so he didn't buy any.

We're hoping the landscape gardener will do us a plan for free Frank, that way we can do the work ourselves using his plan.......crafty I know, but like you said it would cost us a fortune to have him do the work, when we are capable of doing it ourselves. Having said that we might need someone to help with the heavier stuff like taking down the garage and removing the thick concrete base. Plus digging out the ground for the new base for the summerhouse we are hoping to have. OH works a lot and those jobs are to much for me to do on my own.

Well, I never coloured my hair in the end as it's takes me about 5 hours from start to finish and it was gone 1pm by the time mum had gone home and Sandra had finished having her lunch, so I'm going to do it tomorrow morning, when I have more time.

Sandra is watching some programmes she recorded in the other room, so I've decided to watch a few of mine. I'll give the ottoman lid another coat of paint first, then hopefully that'll be the last coat and I can put it away. It's in the middle of the living room floor at the moment, on a piece of board and black bin liners, just incase I dripped the paint.
It's been raining a lot lately, so I couldn't paint it outside like I wanted to.

Afternoon All
It is 4pm and Fitz has just gone after being here for lunch since 12.30 !!!.We have just finished clearing away.

Mandy I remember the first nights of having Chester.I tried him in the cage in the kitchen with me lying on the settee cushions in the lounge just inside the door ,so he could hear me speak to him when he cried. That never worked :-S..Then after a couple of weeks I went to Scotland for a few days with my Sister and left Chris in charge.Came home to find he had Chester sleeping on the bed as he couldn't cope with being woken throught the night !!!!!
Poor Max is just missing the company of all the other Pups at the moment .At least you got 3 hours sleep :-D :-D :-D.Liz seems to have had the right idea with Cas.
Early days for you but I bet it won't be too long before Max settles on his own.

James arrived back home from work just after 12.He started getting very dizzy and nearly toppling over :-S...He never should have driven home :-0 :-0....Chris thinks he has Labyrintitis (inner ear trouble) after his nasty cold.James bent down to stroke Thomas and nearly went head over heels :-S.So he is lying on his bed feeling a bit spaced out. :-S

Good news about OH Liz :-D.You will sleep easy now for a while.

5 hours to do your hair Gill !!!! that is a long time.I don't have the courage to do my own colour. It would be a lot cheaper. But I just have mine done about every 3 months as the colour blends well with my own tones so even when the grey does start showing it still blends in.Also having thick hair helps.
So a new little boy on the block .He may well be part of the same family of Squirrels .
I haven't seen ours for a while, but I know it is here as the Window feeder is empty every morning and I can see Squirrel feet marks on the window.

I have just remembered I have a washing machine full of towels. So they will have to go in the tumble drier now.The washing macine finished hours ago :-S

Afternoon All,

The poor little chap Mandy. You should send him here for a week......he's sleeping about the same amount of hours as me! When we had a pup years ago, the breeder cut up the old blanket the pups were lying on and each pup had a piece of blanket to take to it's new home with the smell of mum and it's siblings on. A crate sounds a good idea as you can move it further from your bedroom (if you want) as he gets more settled. They say a pup will try not to soil it's bed as long as you take it outside as soon as you let it out in the morning and of course he wouldn't be able to chew the log basket or anything else during the night if he's in a crate. They are all different though, just like us and he must feel he's got lost and cut off from his mum and siblings just now. I expect after a week he will be sleeping much better. I'd try tiring him out with play last thing at night!! :-)

Gill that's nice having more squirrels for Sandra to watch! :-D It is quite a job colouring your hair when it's long like yours isn't it. I wish I could do my own lowlights as it's quite expensive. I have them done every 3rd haircut and the hairdresser usually combines 3 different shades.

OH was at a meeting at Seagrave at a golf club this morning and he said it poured with rain as he got there yet we haven't had any rain here all day. I had a hearing test and it was good with no change since last time :-) I said 'at least some of my faculties are still working then!' Then I took that top back I forgot the other night as M&S is almost nextdoor. OH has gone to a footie match at Crick tonight. Just before he went he said he had something wrong with his mouth, so I said, 'what, something other than it moving too much?' ;-) Well, that was so quick it took him aback....... I couldn't let that go could I!! lol :-) He had to laugh.

Yes, David, you are right. Sometimes we don't realise the small things we do in life mean so much. I don't see why you would be a liability driving..........jumping over walls maybe!! I'm sure Ellen would want you to be happy and getting out and about in a car would give you both much more freedom.

That's such great news Liz. You must feel a lot more positive and easier in your minds.

MillymollyAmanda Report 12 Apr 2016 18:32

Thanks Liz ,i think i will have another night on the floor with him tonight ,he did settle there was no yelping like he did in the kitchen when he was on his own and then i think we will try him upstairs ,we need to get a gate for the top of the stairs though ,i think a couple of days getting use to his surroundings then hopefully he might stay on his bed beside our bed , it's just him needing the water in the night i don't know what to do about , i might have to bring him down let him have a wee and a drink then go back up with him .

If i sit down he comes over to be picked up and he cuddles into me and goes to sleep ,then i put him down onto his bed .

So pleased you got some positive news from the RUH this morning.

Hubby has to have a new hip joint ,but first he has to have a scan as there is a piece of bone that looks as if it's broken, so the surgeon wants to see whats happening with that ,he told hubby that this op will ease the pain and might only might make it easier for him to walk but it's going to be a bigger op than the last one and he hopes to do it some time in the next three months

At the moment Max is laying on the carpet near my feet fast asleep with just his head on his bed .
He did his first wee outside just a while ago but no poos yet ,i have stood outside with him for ages and all he does is bite the heads off the daffs and have a go at my plants in the pots !! :-D

MillymollyAmanda

MillymollyAmanda Report 12 Apr 2016 18:42

Ann he won't go in the crate i have in the kitchen that was what he was in when he did all the yelping last night but he will lay on his soft bed i bought him so long as it's beside me .
The chap gave us a blanket to take home with the smell of his brothers and sisters on it , he had one for every pup which i thought was nice .

Poor little chap has had two days of being upset what with taking him away from all he knows yesterday and then today having son and DIL puppy sitting ,hopefully tomorrow we can get into a good routine .

Hubby is fast asleep !! when he wakes he can keep an eye on Max and it will be my turn to get some shut eye just in case it's another bad night :-S

Jane what was that spray you mentioned for the furniture ? as he having a chew at all sorts !!

Mandy, I've pmd you! To be honest I'd just take his water upstairs with you. Have you got an un tipable water bowel? We had one for the car for Millie and they are good.

Annx Report 12 Apr 2016 20:03

It's only to be expected really isn't it Mandy, but it's good he had a bit of blanket to bring with him. I expect the trouble with a crate at this early stage is that it's something else he would also need to get used to by tempting him to like it in there with food and just shutting him in for a few minutes to start with. He can't be expected to get used to everything at once can he. I found a mans sock tied in a knot a good antidote to chewing as they like to shake the living daylights out of it, also a big nylon bone! A stair gate sounds a good idea until he can manage them without falling. Your going to have to snatch sleep when you can for the time being aren't you, but maybe tonight he'll settle a bit better.

It's good your hubby now knows what needs to be done with his hip, but fancy there being some broken bone there. No wonder he's been in so much pain. At least he's not going to have to wait too long for it to be done and has been told it will ease the pain.

How is James now Jane? It must have been a horrid and long journey home for him feeling like that.

Jane Report 12 Apr 2016 20:16

OMG Mandy....sounds like you have your hands full now LOL.....Sorry I had to laugh at Max having all the Daff Heads off and then the Pot plants !!

The spray I have is called Pet Behave Spray.I got it in the pet shop..It has Citronella in it.Smells a bit when you first spray but it soon goes.

I hope OH can get his op soon.Anything to get rid off his pain !.

Good luck tonight.I will be thinking of you :-D ;-)

I hope you get some sleep tongiht Mandy. It is going to take a little while to get him into a routine but you have loads of patience to get there in the end. No wonder Colin is in pain if he has a peice of broken bone there. I hope the op goes well when he has it and he dos'nt have to wait too long. Three months will soon go and by the time he has it Max will be 5 months old!

Ann a good answer for Gordon when he said something was wrong with his mouth. You were very quick with your reply.

I recued another big bee tonight. It was in one of my tulip flowers and had one of its feet stuch and the flower had closed up a bit so I popped a small cane in and it got a grip on that and flew out.

Gill that was nice for Sandra to see another squirrel that visits. Something else for her to watch for.

Poor James he must have felt very strange. I know inner ear problems can cause dizzyness and I hope he feels much better in the morning.

When I came home from Bideford we had had a few large spots of rain and then the sky cleared again till I got nearly home when they came down again but as I drove down the drive it stopped. Good I thought we are not going to get soaked getting the shopping in. After we had it in and I had unpacked it all and put it away down came the big spots again and we had thunder with it this time. It did'nt last that long and the ground never got really wet but when I looked out the front of the bungalow the sky was almost mauve and we had sunshine and had that till the sun went down. A beautiful sunset with lots of reds and pinks.

Off now to watch Marcella and Tale from Northumberland and then bed so night night see you all in the morning.

Sweet dreams.

Gillx Report 12 Apr 2016 22:53

Hope you have a better nights sleep tonight Mandy. I'm sure Max will settle soon. Having a blanket with his mum's smell on should help. Not good that he's chewing everything, the spray sounds like a good idea and should help.....lets hope so anyway, chewing electrical wires isn't a good thing to do.

My OH was late getting in from work tonight as he had to give a statement to the police. There was a sudden death of one of the residence. It was the man we made a parcel up for, the one who had no family or friends. Poor OH was the one who found him. He said it must of been quick as he had checked on him an hour before and he was okay then. I do feel sorry for OH as it would of been his late father's birthday today. He rang his mum when he got in to see how she was and she's not been very well either, so all in all a bad day for him.

I've run OH a bath as he's not been sleeping very well lately, so hopefully that'll help.

See you all tomorrow
Night Night <3

Morning All

Gill I hope that OH managed to sleep well after the nice bath and that today will be a better day for him.Sad about the elderly man ,but he must have 'gone' so quickly and wouldn't have suffered at all.

I wonder how Mandy's night was :-D She may be asleep on her cushions still.I do hope it wasn't too bad a night.
It is a beautiful morning so maybe Max will be able to have a bit of a mooch in the garden and tire himself out :-D,,It does look like it is going to be a really warm and sunny day so I can top up my vitamin D :-D .

James got up to go to work but he is still here and still noy right. He says he might go in this afternoon if he improves.I can't see it myself.

Morning Jane morning all

Much better night ,started off on the cushions on the floor but Max kept climbing over me and onto the sofa base ,so with Liz's advice we took him into our bedroom ,put his bed beside ours and i just laid him down ,he kept trying to jump up at the side of the bed so i just gently pushed him down and surprise surprise he settled,he woke in the night and i took no notice and he then went through until 4 had a wee on the pad and a play for half an hour then settled down again until 6 30 , so a much better night .
Been out and done a wee out side so we're grtting there.

Poor James i hope the dizziness soon goes ,i wouldn't have thought he should drive today in case it comes back ,hope he feels soon feels better.

Gill what a sad day for your hubby yesterday ,hope is mum is feeling better today too.

Mel you were lucky getting all the shopping in before the rain came down.

Well i have to go into town to do some bits so hubby's in charge of Max . :-D

magpie Report 13 Apr 2016 10:25

Oh that's brilliant Mandy, I'm sure you'll find it's much easier from now on, as once you get a sleep pattern the rest sort of falls into place. As you go on you can be firmer too, at first it is difficult, cos you don't want to upset him, but once he's settled you can be stricter!!!! Off shopping now, so don't want to keep Ian waiting!!!

Morning All,

Yes it's sunny and nice here already and washing's on the line thanks to OH putting it out.

It sounds like James is best at home if he still isn't right Jane. He won't get as much done as usual at work if he feels like that will he.

I hope your OH has a better day today Gill. It must be an occupational hazard seeing many deaths at a Home when you work there. When we read the newsletters for FIL's Home there was always mention of someone passing away. At least being sudden the old chap won't have suffered.

I wonder if Mandy is still asleep.........or being kept busy by Max finding things to chew the little rascal!!

The neighbour in the corner opposite has now fixed up a spy camera in their drive as well as our next door neighbour. I said to OH it would be funny next time they are away abroad tuning in to their drive camera footage at home to stand at the bottom of their drive with a balaclava on and a bag over your shoulder with the word 'SWAG' written on it! lol. :-)

Better get showered now as we are off to the fav carvery at lunch time and maybe a trip to a garden centre after.

Morning all,

Nice and sunny here again today.

Glad you had a better nights sleep with little Max Mandy. It osunds like thats the best thing to take him up to bed with you. Best for both worlds......and happiness all round.

Today is a sad day for me as it is the day my dad died 37 years ago. I feel a bit tearfull even after all this time. He was a lovely man and would do anything for anybody and give you his last penny if you asked him for it. It was Friday 13th 1979 Good Friday that took my good man so not a happy easter for any of us that year my son was 10 years old.

Just seen your post Mandy. Glad you had a better night with him and he sounds as if he is learning to settle himself already which is good. It's good he is already getting the hang of where to wee so quickly too. I bet you will be looking at doggie toys while you are out! :-) I know I would be. :-D

That's sad Mel, but it's so good you have such happy memories of him and the good man he was. It's something I don't have, so don't have any feelings about my dad's date of death (April 28th 1979).

Oh just called me out in the garden to see something.

Look he said thats why pheasents are such stupid mothers. There on the orchard grass alongside the path just by the back of the digger was a pheasents egg!! I have brought it in. It weighs quite a lot even though it is not a lot bigger than a bantam egg.
