Morning all,

You were an early bird this morning David, another good night we went to bed at half ten ,Max went round to hubby's side of the bed tried to jump up a few times then came round my side and jumped up then went and laid down on his bed .
I heard him a few times in the night i think when he got up for a wee ,he used the pad so that was good ,i woke at twenty to six brought him down and he went straight out for a wee .
My nephew brought the crate last night so i need to give that a good wash , and then we'll bring it in and start putting him in during the day and gradually get him in at night.
I think we will end up buying a crate though as this one from Michael is so big ,it's about three foot square !!

Was awake at 3.20 and couldn't get back to sleep, so played Solitaire for a while then read GR and added a posting. Getting CH serviced today and hoping to to have the netty sorted while he's here

Morning all

Dull here today but still quite warm, I was having my COT in the garden and one of the squirrels came for her breakfast, she wasn't sure at first as I was sitting closer to where I put the nuts so I moved back a bit and after a while she came and ate them.

What a pity you couldn't take a photo of the dogs and cat, I bet they looked so funny all lined up together Mel.

Sorry to hear you didn't have a good nights sleep David, hope tonight is a better one for you. Hope all goes well with your CH.

Pleased to hear you've had a good nights sleep with Max, Mandy, it won't be long before you are all sleeping through the night. The crate sounds big but should be okay as Max gets bigger. We had a crate for our cats which was about that size, it came in handy when we first moved in here as we had lots of work done to the bungalow. Our cats were indoor cats so they were safe in the crate in a quiet room, there was even enough space to put their litter tray in there and some water. It also came in handy on moving day as we moved a couple of times and I didn't want them running outside in an area they didn't know.

I thought I might do a bit more of the boxes today as OH is off work tomorrow so can take any rubbish to the tip and the good stuff to the charity shop again. I've made some space in the back room so I can take some of the boxes in there to sort out as the front room is full.

I've stripped the bed this morning so that is in the washing machine and by the looks of it, the ottoman doesn't need another coat of paint so that can be moved out of the living room at last then I can hoover around and give the place a good dusting......so quite a busy day ahead for me.

What is everyone else doing today?

magpie Report 14 Apr 2016 10:13

Nothing much here today except the usual!! Mandy that sounds brilliant! It's a pity you don't live close as we've still got Cas's puppy crate! She' in a bigger one now as the other got too small fairly quickly. Perhaps you could put Max's bed inside the big crate till he grows into it? Just a thought!!
Hope James is better this morning Jane. At least having a Doctor as his father and a Nurse as his mother he's in good hands!

Morning all,

Liz thats just what I was thinking last night about James. I do hope he is getting better now as it must be so annoying to keep going dizzy.

Not a bad morning here as its dry at the moment and we have sunshine.

Mandy it sounds like your getting there quicker than you thought with Max. You will find yourself teaching him the word "NO" next. Once they know that word you get some lovely odd looks from them. I am pleased you had a better nights sleep as there is nothing worse than being tired and trying to teach a puppy things.

So the ottoman is now finished and all ready to be filled up. Thats one thing out of the way then Gill.
Good luck with the rest of the sorting today.

Gillx

Gillx Report 14 Apr 2016 12:55

That's a good idea Liz to put Max's bed inside the crate, that way he'll get used to it during the day and hopefully settle for longer at night. All this advice Mandy, you'll be spoilt for choice ;-)

Hope James is on the mend and the dizziness has subsided now Jane. He is lucky having a doctor and nurse as parents, he'll be well looked after. Mind you, he is a man and they don't always rest, even if they need it.......well, my OH doesn't anyway.
Hope your James rests up and gets better soon.

Yes Mel, the ottoman is finished and has been moved to the back room, along with a few bits I'm keeping from all the sorting I've got to do.
I'm still sorting out all the washing and trying to make the beds up again and I've topped OH's tomatoes plants up with some compost we got the other day as we didn't quite have enough when he first planted them and they are getting bigger now on the kitchen window sill. It won't be long before they'll need replanting into larger pots and putting in the greenhouse.

So at the moment I'm doing all sorts at the same time.....I love being busy. I've got an old CD on..... "Adam and the Ants" it was a pop band from the 80's, it's bringing back a lot of good memories from when OH and I met 31 years ago.
I've just thought we've been married 30 years next year, how time flies ;-)

Well, I'd better get back to my jobs
BBL <3

Had boiler has been serviced for another year, something less to worry about.
He didn't do the lav as he think the problem is outside below where the soil leaves the bathroom.. There is no man hole there so he is going to have to dig down to the sewer and see if it is partially obstructed with pieces of masonry.
Neighbour fetched that photo over and I must say I look ghastly!!
I recently phoned in a repeat prescription for Ellen consisting multiple items. Before hitting the hash button I hit the star button so I could hear the order I'd placed before hitting the hash button. People, I sounded frail :(

Afternoon All,

Sunny here, better than the forecast said which was for more rain by now.

That's good Mandy, little Max sounds like he is doing very well and is a quick learner! He seems to have the right idea about the puppy pads, bless him. I've heard that putting the bed in the crate is a good idea and to give food in there as well as toys will all make it a favourite place to be! Just shutting the door for a few minutes several times a day at first will help him get used to the idea. I bet he's getting more cheeky and confident now he's getting used to you and his new home!

David, the man you mean is Caesar Milan. I've watched all his series and read some of his books. He is a dog psychologist who uses the body language of the pack to understand and help rehabilitate dogs whose anxieties and difficulties have mostly been caused by well meaning people who have treated them like humans and have no understanding of their needs and behaviour. A wonderful thing to watch was the programme when he went into a pack of wolves with a lady who was an expert on them and who showed him how to understand and communicate with them. It would take a bit of nerve to say 'hello' wolf style as you have to show your teeth and let them smell them! lol

I have been looking into getting a spare wheel etc for my car as it just has one of those spray things that seal the tyre and means you have to get a new tyre then. I looked on line and saw a few horror stories about the car slipping off any jack used and causing damage, so I rang one of the dealerships and was told not to jack one wheel up on it's own as it could cause the glass moulded roof to crack!!! They said it would even need taking to a dealership just for any new tyres to be fitted!! Not to be beaten I rang another dealership in the city and they asked me to bring the car in and would talk about it with me. It seems what I had been told was a load of nonsense! They had never known a roof to crack, but recommended not opening the door while it was jacked up as a precaution as the structure is strongest then and they showed me the proper jack to use that was quite cheap at £30. They explained that I need to use a full size alloy wheel as the car is extremely sensitive and monitors and measures different things with the wheels and tyres as you drive to give advance warning of any problems. They said there should be no problem having new tyres fitted anywhere I choose. All in all very helpful and reassuring. So now I just need to get a secondhand wheel and tyre from a breakers yard or on ebay and a jack from the dealer. :-D

Afternoon Annx, Yes, I've seen many of César's programmes on TV and he is remarkable. Does things you wouldn't think possible, and quickly. Most of the problem dogs are kept in the wrong environment by the wrong type of dog owner. Seen him running with a pack of dogs following, Not running alongside or ahead but behind him..
Calls it the Alpha male technique he instils in them.

I bet the the people selling you the car didn't mention any real or potential wheel problems. If a wheel ever needs changing have the AA or RAC do it for you.

Afternoon Everyone

So Max is being a very good boy by the sound of it at night now Mandy and doing his wee's on the pad too :-D :-D..I reckon within a week you will be sleeping through the night. That is a good idea of Liz's to put Max's bed in the crate. Also Max will grow pretty fast and I bet the crate you have now won't seem half so big !!

I hope your SIL's op has gone well today.

David I hope what ever is causing the trouble with your loo isn't going to be a big problem.I never like it when they say they will have to 'dig' :-S

Oh Frank, thank heavens you landed on your clothes and didn't hurt yourself. You just relax for the rest of today and then tomorrow you may be back to right again.

James decided to go into work this afternoon. He said he was fine now.Fingers crossed the balance problem is done with now.It is handy sometimes having Chris to diagnose something simple. But he says he is retired now and is no longer a Doctor LOL.The other thing is because he can no longer prescribe ,if medicatation is needed we have to see our own GP now.

Juat heard a rumble of thunder in the distance.I think from Wellingborough direction. We haven't had any rain at all yet and I'm wondering if we are on the edge of the bad weather. Will have to wait and see.

Ann you did well today finding out about getting a New Tyre.It sounds like you got the best advice from the second lot.I would have no idea how to use a Jack :-S..
Many years ago an old family friend was under his car and the jack broke or slipped and the car came down and crushed his chest !!!!.He nearly died and was in hospital for a long time. I don't have a spare wheel in my car, just one of those little kits. The one thing that always worries me when driving is if a tyre were to blow. Some years ago now I was behind a lorry on the M5 and one of the lorry tyres went with a massive bang !!!!!.The lorry was swerving and there was lots of dust from the blow out.it frightened me half to death :-S :-S Thankfully I was able to swing out into the fast lane to get around it.

Gill us women are good at multi tasking :-D..Mind you I reckon you must be the best. You seem to manage all sorts at the same time lol..My trouble is I forget what I have started lol and often find I have left things half done :-S..Maybe I should stick to one thing at a time :-D

Time to get dinner in...Not as healthy a meal as Frank...Sausages,Chorizo Potatoes, and oven roast Courgettes,Leeks and Carrots. That will have to do :-D

David

David Report 14 Apr 2016 17:49

Ref the loo, I think it is because OH uses an excess of toilet tissue, before, during and after the motion. Add to that it's an intermittent fault that only occurs when she uses it I'm certain it's a huge excess of paper. If there was rubble, concrete or other pieces of masonry obstructing flow in pipe it wouldn't be an intermittent problem, it would be every time. But, it needs investigating and in the absence of a man hole he has to dig..
I wonder if my pipe is connected to the other semi? You can have nappies, sanitary towels and God knows what else block the pipe in bad circumstances. :-(

I'am glad James is feeling better Jane and has able to go back to work , it's tomorrow my sister is having her knee done ,perhaps i said the wrong day i don't know if i'am coming or going at the moment LOL

Oh dear Frank i hope your feeling better after your fall thank goodness it was the clothes cupboard that helped soften the fall , i wonder what makes you so shaky, do you think we need to have a little some thing sweet ?

Oh Ann what a good thing you asked at another dealer about the spare tyre you wouldn't want to do damage to your nice car , i wouldn't know how to use the jack i would just the break down people as that's what we pay for on the car insurance .

Oh Max has just woken up !! wee wee time :-D :-D

Jane Report 14 Apr 2016 18:31

David ,I was told by my plumber not to use Quilted Toilet Paper and definitely no wipes or any other things .Not even those toilet wipes that say they are flushable..He said they don't disintegrate. The only things to go down the loo should be natural human waste and plain toilet paper.

James is home and says he feels like s***. Not dizzy though. It must be all to do with the same viral thing.I think he was daft going in this afternoon but hey what do I know.

Couple of rumbles of thunder still..but not here.Thomas has just come in so maybe he knows something we don't.

Anyone watching This Wild Life? It's on BBC 2 at 6.30 (now!) It's really good and some fabulous scenery. It's Jane's son who isn't feeling well David. I think her OH is ok, for the minute!!!!
We've got a septic tank, so we do have to be careful what goes into it. Our grandchildren have to be gently reminded now and again!!
Back to wild life!

I have always been lucky to have had an inside toilet..except for the school ones.We would have to scamper across the little playground at Primary School to get to them.In fact I have a feeling that even at my senior school some of the loos were outside.

No Liz I haven't seen that programme .I must have a look .
Yes David it is my son that wasn't well .OH is blooming !...The cat is out for the count !!
