Mel Fairy Godmother

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 16 Apr 2016 12:06

Morning all and evening Kim,

Gill no I am not doing anything with the pheasents egg. They take 28 days to hatch and its not worth putting the incubater on for one egg and I don't want anything else to look after. I may have it for breakfast and see what it tastes like as I have never tried a pheasents egg. I've had duck and goose, chicken and bantam though. I don't like duck to eat or goose but do like pheasent if it is'nt hung too long. I have ten female pheasent who come to be fed every time I feed the chickens. They know the routine and natter away to me when I go out there and follow me to the workshop where I keep the food.

Nothing planned for today only to go up the shop for the paper and I may prick out a few lettuce. I am growing them in big pots this year outside the back door on the patio and see if that will work.

Just taken my pills and decided to take them all out of their packs and put them on my plate so I know I have taken the right amount of each one.

We have sunshine but oh said it is not that warm out there. I hav'nt been out yet.

Frank that dos'nt sound too bad for someone to come and do the garden.

Iv'e done a silly thing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I put the sheet in the washing machine that I cut oh's hair on and meant to wash it yesterday. Forgot and put all my clothes in last night and put the wash on. I hve just got the washing out to put on the line and the first thing out was the sheet. All the other washing is now covered in tiny miny hair. I shall have to put it in the dryer after its been on the line to get more hair out of it. I shall be itching for ages now. :-0 :-| :-0 :-| :-0 :-|

Brightened up a bit now but still raining , all sorted at the vets ,she checked Max over and we have an appointment for next week for the next injections, sorted out the Healthy Pet Plan and we have a months free insurance with Pet Plan and then we can decide which insurance plan we need for the year.

I wonder where you picked the cold up from Jane ,i some times wonder if we pick things up from the handles on the shopping trolleys ,people sneeze and don't use tissues and then hold the trolley handle, i use the antibacterial hand gel i keep it my handbag and use it after touching the trollys.

Hubby is watching the F1 poor Lewis is having trouble with his car.

Oh a nice rib of beef for the weekend then Frank, mum used to love a nice piece of rib ,she use to go to Baxters the butchers and they would always get her a nice piece from the back of the shop.

Anne that will be nice to have a meal cooked for you what sort of Rissotto is he making?

Ann hope you enjoyed the art exhibition this morning .

Jane Report 16 Apr 2016 13:37

Frank that Garden Buddies Scheme sounds a brilliant idea and a bargain too at that price :-D Double Rib of Beef tomorrow eh??? Can I join you :-D
I hope the weather isn't going to be too grim for Val and Tony in Wales.it always seems to be raining there.

Gill how did you manage to frame a big puzzle like that? I have never heard of anyone doing that. Its sounds like it might have been a bit fiddly.Someone will be sure to enjoy having it on their wall :-D and that will be nice for you to know especially after your hard work of doing the puzzle and then framing it.

Mel I don't like Duck or Goose either..Saying that I have never actually had Goose lol
But I am pretty sure I wouldn't like it.Not keen on Pheasant either..I am not a Game Bird :-D

Thomas has been watching TV again.'Puppies make you laugh' He had his front paws up on the stand and was batting the screen !!.I hope he didn't use his claws !!!! :-S
There was a little Puppy running around in circles and Thomas's head was going round and round LOL

I nipped out and bought that thing called First Defence .You spray it up your nose at the first sign of a cold.I think my Sister said it was good.So I have had the first squirts.
I must say I do feel a bit rough.I can't remember the last time I had a cold. It's probably a good thing that Hannah is going ot be out for most of the weekend, she won't want to be getting too close to me lol.

The weather doesn't seem to be able to make up its mind as too what it is doing. One minute the sun is out and the next it is as black as your hat. There are certainly some dodgy looking clouds on the horizon.
:-S

MillymollyAmanda Report 16 Apr 2016 13:42

Oh no Mel it's making me itch just thinking about it ,is there a good blow out ? Perhaps a lot of the hair will blow off in the wind.

Gillx

Gillx Report 16 Apr 2016 13:46

Oh dear Mel, have you tried washing your clothes again, it might wash the hair out then you won't be itchy. It's so easily done isn't it?

That sounds good Frank, £7 an hour is a reasonable price and it will certainly save you and Ros and lot of work. How does Ros feel about it, the garden is her baby? Will she oversee the work being done, I know how much she loves her plants?

The sun is really shinning here now and hardly a cloud in sight, it's still very cold though. I think we might get a frost tonight :-( OH said the lawn is still a bit to wet to cut, so I'm hoping the nice weather stays here for a couple of days as the lawn really needs doing.

The greenhouse is lovely and warm though and I've noticed Sandra's strawberry plants have lots of flowers on them. She'll have plenty of strawberries this year by the looks of it, so that'll please her.

Hope you are feeling a bit better now Jane, did the steamy bath help? :-)

Have you tried the pheasant egg yet Mel? I've just had some toast with hens eggs on.....shop bought eggs, so I doubt they're as tasty as your eggs.

I see Rosberg will be starting at the front of the grid and poor Hamilton will be starting right at the back. Something needs fixing on Hamilton's car so he couldn't do the qualifying. Mind you Hamilton likes a good battle, so it should be a good race tomorrow :-)

Jane Report 16 Apr 2016 13:57

Oh Mel who is a silly billy !!!.Hopefully it won't take much to get all the hair out of your clothes.Maybe a good bit of time on the line will get rid of most of it and then the last bits in the drier.

Mandy we found Pet Plan more expensive than many others.I have a feeling we have Thomas insured with Tesco.
I almost bought some hand sanitizer when I was in Tesco this morning as I was having to blow my nose and then hold on to the trolley bar.I did think I could quite easily be transferring my horrible cold bug.I did notice several other people with tissues held to their noses,so there will be lots of trolleys contaminated :-S :-S..I had to open the tissues that I had just put in the trolley as each time I bent my head down my nose dripped :-S :-S. So I am sniffing and snorting and sneezing in the comfort of my own home now :-D :-D.Chris has shut himself away in the study !!!!,and Thomas has left the building :-S :-S

Gillx Report 16 Apr 2016 14:02

Sorry Jane, I'd written the post and forgot to send it so didn't notice your post.

I made the puzzle on a puzzle board then when it was finished I measured it and had a man who makes frames make me one the correct size, I then took the puzzle piece by piece, row by row and glued it onto the backboard of the frame, then put the frame together. I made lots of them years ago and have a lovely snow one in my hall, that I put up yesterday which was in our loft. I have given them to people as presents too. Puzzles take so long to make and some of them are really nice so I had the idea to frame some, but got a bit carried away, hence why they have now gone to the charity shop.

You did make me laugh when you were telling us about Thomas, he's such a character isn't he? :-D :-D

magpie Report 16 Apr 2016 14:41

There are varying levels of pet insurance. You can buy from year to year which is cheaper, but that tends to only cover the particular condition till renewal date, then excludes it the following year as it's considered to be an on going illness. ie a long term condition or a bad break or something like that could be only be covered for a limited time depending when your renewal date is!! More expensive cover will cover any condition on a roll over basis from year to year. Most expensive will do that, but also cover you right into old age, which some others don't! We've tagged ours onto our house insurance.. It's not cheap, but whatever happens Cas is covered for everything for life.

Gillx Report 16 Apr 2016 15:00

OH is cutting the lawn, it's so sunny here today it's now dry enough for him to do it. It's looking so much better after not having a cut for several weeks. It can rain as much as it likes once he's finished, we don't mind at all :-D :-D It's still not very warm outside, but getting warmer by the minute in the greenhouse, with all the sun on it.

I've decided to do some washing and peg it out while it's nice. It'll probably rain tomorrow :-(

MillymollyAmanda

MillymollyAmanda Report 16 Apr 2016 15:22

We have to have a shop about for the pet insurance , it was a months free insurance from Pet Plan with the Healthy pet plan from the vets and the healthy pet plan covers all vacs ,fleaing ,worming for the year and nail cliping , micro chipping and a six month check up all for 10.99 a month ,the fleaing ,worming and vacs would come to good bit so we thought we'd go with that for now ,and then we have the month to sort an insurance out.

Hubby is out checking all the grouting between the paving slabs as Max keeps picking it out and having a chew .

magpie

magpie Report 16 Apr 2016 15:46

Well that is it Mandy, we had the same for Cas, which gave us time to sort her insurance. I do think that you have to read the small print quite carefully though, as some can be a bit deceptive!!
Cold here, but after a gloomy morning, a lovely sunny after came out! I managed to get into a sheltered spot and sat out for about an hour. It was lovely!! Ian took Cas for a walk, so it was peaceful too!! Time for a cuppa.

Jane Report 16 Apr 2016 15:46

Pet insurance is a bit of a mine field isn't it.I always think the best thing is to have cover for as much as possible.I know I have said before ,but when we had Dodger our first dog,he was loosing the use of his back legs.It turned out that he had collapsed vertebrae in his spine that were compressing on the nerves. He had two huge operations on his back but sadly the nerve damage was too bad .Having insurance saved us nearly £2000 .We had only had Dodger for 4 yrs as a rescue dog and then it broke my heart to have to have him put to sleep :-(

Gill you must have the patience of a saint to stick all the individual bits of puzzle onto a board like that..What would have happened if you got a bit wrong after it was stuck???
I see in one of the papers there is a puzzle out for the Queens 90th Birthday.I might suggest to Chris we get that :-D and then we can do it at Christmas.
Talking of Chris ..he seems to be looking up things and printing things off about Avignon in France where we will be in just a few weeks. In fact I think it is a month today that we go :-D.I have checked that Thomas doesn't need his booster before going to the Cattery. That isn't due until July.He has been with us now for 11 months.

Hannah has just been dropped off by her friend .So I better go and greet (from a distance ) :-D

Oh's hair is so fine and now he has grey too it is harder to detect!! Its all still out on the line and having a good blow in the cold wind. We still have sunshine and big white fluffy cloud in the blue sky.

Oh has been fiddleing around with my pond. The fish are in the pool and out of about 60 odd I have just 24 left. There are two about two inches long and black so they must be last years babies. I wonder if I will get any babies this year. I bet the kingfisher had some of last years and the heron has been in there too and then there was the otter and I don't know how many he ate. We hav'nt had any otter trouble since oh put the lecy fence on the sides of the ponds.

Naughty Max pulling the grouting out of the slabs. They always find something they should'nt don't they. AS if he has'nt enough toys to play with its just like children buy them loads of expensive toys and they play with a cardboard box.

You must get a good health plan for Max as t he vets bills are so expensive now its like taking out another mortgage!! I think Liz and Ian have the best one.

I strpped the chicken crown last night and got lots of it for the hedgehog. Forgot to put it out when I fed them and slung it over onto the grass from the patio later. Had a look out a couple of times and it had'nt gone and then went out at 12.30am and it had just arrived and I watched him eat it for over 10 mins and going over ground he had already covered to make sure he had'nt missed any then he went under the decking by my pond. It was raining t the time too. Oh said they would'nt come out in the rain but I have seen them a lot whilst its raining.

Jane you don't think you may have caught your cold from James do you? you said he had one did'nt you? I always use that hand sanitiser when I go to the docs surgery for our pills and down the local shop and of course on shopping day.

Anne

Anne Report 16 Apr 2016 16:23

We have always had the Pet Plan for insuring our dogs and cats, they are more expensive then a lot of them but if you opt for life cover it is for as long as your pet needs it no matter how old they are. I get a discount because of having 3 pets with them plus another one for senior citizens. They do pay up very quickly too, straight into the bank. It's like everything else you get what you pay for

Frank that is a good price for having your garden done, the going rate around here is £15.00 p.h.

The risotto was very nice, the main ingredient was diced turkey. rice of course medium curry powder, stuffed olives, peas, garlic, onions, chicken stock and topped with fresh tomatoes.

The weather is better now but typical April , Richard took Amy for a long walk over the forest and she came back very muddy she is fast asleep on her bed now.

Two things come to mind. I bet Jane is a gay old bird ;-) ;-) ;-) and Mel."I'm going to wash that man right our of my SHEET (Hair)" Sorry girls couldn't resist that !!!

I have had a real lazy day. Apart from my shower and getting a bacon sarnie with a cup of Tea. Oh I did make the bed. I have done nothing all day.

Ros called in to see Valerie (Sid's wife) and took her the copies of the songs, and had a coffee with her. By the time she got home I was ready for a roll :-0 :-0 (Bread) We had prawn and salad. Ros has done a bit more sewing, and then cleared the table ready for C & J tomorrow.

I have ordered an Indian for tonight, that should be here about 7.30 pm.

I have been watching Rick Stein in India, what a well travelled man he is, and the types of cooking he does appeals to me. Not that I would attempt any of his dishes. Far to complicated and I wouldn't know where to start.

Hannah had a shock with Thomas then Jane ?? All these colds going around, I'm glad I am not going out anywhere. I don't blame Chris going to his study !!! Hows James now ?? All these questions. (SORRY)

I am sure it must be very difficult to get the right Pet insurance. Like most things you get what you pay for !! Conrads favoiurite saying is "BUY CHEAP BUY TWICE. It's alright if you have the money.

Black sky here now it looks quite stormy ,we had a heavy shower a short time ago just as i took Max out .

No news from sister yet ,she should be home today but i'm wondering if she's been able to get to her feet if not then i suppose it will mean another night in hospital.

Max had a while in his crate earlier as he was a little devil ,he keep biting every thing ,moving from one thing to another so i had to quieten him down, at the moment he's laying with his head on my foot :-D

Oh poor Hannah she's not use to seeing Thomas with his kill :-(
Did James get to Jess's ok ,no more dizziness?

Doesn't hurt to have a lazy day now and then Frank, you'll be busy tomorrow with having a lunch to cook.

Thank you Frank and others. My neighbour must have been used to a silent bungalow adjoining him as it stood empty for over a year.
